Dragon Age: Origins is a 2009 role-playing video game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. It is the first game in the Dragon Age franchise. Players widely praise the story, companions, and music as among the best in RPGs. [1][2][3][4] Many reviewers note the game is unstable on modern systems, requiring mods or fixes. [1][2][5][6] Some players call it a masterpiece and a peak of BioWare's work. [2][3][7][8]

Unplayeble as of 2026. Constant crashes on loading. If you do manage to load there are lots of texture issues. Get it on GOG or hoist the colors. edit: I used the 4 GB patch, DXVK fix and put graphics to low. Still crashing.

Recommended, but only if you're willing to mod it. Dragon Age: Origins is one of the best RPGs I've ever played, and despite being released in 2009, it still holds up kinda well today. The story is engaging, companions are memorable, voice acting remains excellent, combat is fun, and the soundtrack is really good, featuring several memorable themes that are instantly recognizable to DA fans. That said, I cannot …

A timeless masterpiece that shows how far the gaming industry has fallen. Despite being an older game Dragon Age Origins provided me with an incredible experience. Playing this classic today really opens your eyes to a harsh reality showing you exactly how much the gaming industry has declined and how modern RPGs lost their true soul. The best part of this game is the writing and the characters. From that very first …

A game so good that it will make you redefine what a good RPG is. It stands out because of its companions, story, and meaningful decisions. It is probably one of, if not the best RPG of all time. Unfortunately, the PC release is totally broken it crashes every 20 minutes. But it was so good that I took on the daunting task anyway. Also, the gameplay gets old by the halfway point.

Before I do my review, it is important to note that the game does not really work if you do not mod it, as EA decided to port the game over as it was and it does not run on modern systems. I will link the Youtube video I used to fix the problems the game has, as since I did those changes and copied the same settings, I never had problems again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_qBFeyWR5Q Dragon Age Origins is a …

Critics, per Wikipedia
Dragon Age: Origins received critical acclaim from major video game critics upon its release. While the game is considered to be virtually identical across all platforms, differences in user interface, graphical performance, and online content delivery have led the PC version to be reviewed more favorably than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions; Metacritic ranks the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 versions of the game with scores of 91, 87, and 86, respectively. ' The game's setting was well received by critics. Dave Snider from Giant Bomb thought that the setting felt traditional due to the presence of dwarves and elves, but that the world was beautifully executed. He also appreciated…

positive · AI labelView post →There’s a scene in The Pope’s Exorcist (2023) where Russell Crowe’s character finds a grave marked with ‘the seal of the Inquisition’ and they clearly googled it and used the logo from the game Dragon Age: Inquisition (2014) by accident
neutral · AI labelView post →Dragon Age: Inquisition is 10! This is the first full-length game I wrote for and working on it was such an adventure.
neutral · AI labelView post →Dragon Age Veilgaurd isn't the greatest game ever but it's thoroughly enjoyable and a welcome reprieve from 50 different souls likes and 35 open world collect a thons.
neutral · AI labelView post →Dragon Age: The Veilguard is an A+ depression game. The writing and cheeriness that previously grated on me has become really comforting in the last week 🥹
positive · AI labelView post →Dragon Age: Veilguard Is a good game. Objectively good. If it’s not what you wanted it to be, that’s fair, but it’s still fun, well written, full of endearing characters, and cleverly written.
positive · AI labelView post →The Dragon Age series has always been very gay, that's why it's the first game that pop when using the LGBT tag on GOG.
neutral · AI labelView post →I have done the impossible. I have gotten Dragon Age Origins running and looking like a normal PC game. It took some doing.
neutral · AI labelView post →Could probably fund a Dragon Age game or two if Andrew Wilson got fired.
neutral · AI labelView post →I'm hearing Dragon Age: Inquisition is free on the Epic Games Store right now. Dragon Age: Inquisition was my first full-game project. If you take a trip (or return visit) to the land of Thedas, I hope you have fun!

positive · AI labelView post →i would not be in games if it wasn’t for Mass Effect and Dragon Age. representation is not, and should not be, the end-all conversation about diversity. but these games really did shape me into someone who loves daring herself to pursue her dreams with everything she’s got. thank you, BioWare. 💖

neutral · AI labelView post →I keep seeing tributes to Dragon Age on sites where folks are going THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING and showing every game and book and their action figure collection And leaving out Veilguard It is so goddamn infuriating that the IT IS THE BAD ONE, IT IS THE WOKE ONE bullshit is STILL happening
positive · AI labelView post →Farewell, BioWare: The End of an RPG Giant. Really sad to hear that BioWare is closing its doors after 31 years. I can't say it's entirely surprising given how difficult the last decade has been for the studio, but it's still a shame to see another enormously influential name disappear from the industry. This was the developer behind *Neverwinter Nights*, *Knights of the Old Republic*, *Dragon Age: Origins* and *Mass Effect 2*, among so many others. What an incredible run of games they had :(…
neutral · AI labelView post →Crushing news about BioWare. The Mass Effect Trilogy as a unit is cemented in my personal top games of all time. Still working my way through Dragon Age and KOTOR. So many talented artists joining the jobless video game devs. So much material getting locked away in EA jail, likely forever.
neutral · AI labelView post →Despite its flaws, I enjoyed Dragon Age the Veilguard. Also, we're never going to see hair this good in a video game ever again.
positive · AI labelView post →Dragon Age 2: the game in which YOU PLAY AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT
neutral · AI labelView post →an important thing to remember is the game series Dragon Age is set on the world of Thedas, which is short for The Dragon Age Setting
neutral · AI labelView post →As a wide eyed late 20s recent University Grad, I got started at BioWare on Dragon Age: Origins. PC build was locked down with EA wanting a multi-platform release so I mostly got to play a completed game for my first two weeks at BioWare. Felt SO surreal.
positive · AI labelView post →MY FAVORITE ARMOR???????????????????? IN MY NEW DRAGON AGE GAME???? THAT I LOVE?????????
positive · AI labelView post →Also: Dragon Age 2 is an incredible video game that took storytelling swings no one else was even considering in 2011, had one of the best ensembles in any medium, and was a goddamn feat of development that got made in A YEAR AND 4 MONTHS. Haters can get bent, Kirkwall 4 life
positive · AI labelView post →One of the greatest RPGs PERIOD. Is completely busted on modern hardware. EA shouldn't be allowed to sell a broken product like this. Even with fixes the crashes aren't fully fixed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dragon Age: The Veilguard game director leaving BioWare, after 18-year career at EA www.eurogamer.net/dragon-age-t...
neutral · AI labelView post →Dragon Age Inquisition is free on the Epic Games Store right now
neutral · AI labelView post →Black Ops 6 directly continued the story from 3. There were 9 years between those games. Dragon Age Veilguard had to be about two Thanoses that spawned from nowhere instead of the fucking actual game they spent a decade saying they were making.
negative · AI labelView post →Recommended, but only if you're willing to mod it. That said, I cannot honestly recommend buying this game and playing it completely vanilla in 2026.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The new Dragon Age game is completely unplayable
negative · AI labelView post →A legendary house. Dragon Age Origins opened my eyes to CRPGs. The Mass Effect trilogy changed how I saw game narrative and character.
positive · AI labelView post →Dragon Age: Origins is a very good video game
positive · AI labelView post →Every. Single. Dragon Age game. has had. a trans character. in it. Every single one! Saying Veilguard was doing something new there is a purely tourist observation. Even the CC allowing for ambiguous gender expression isn't new, the Inquisition CC did!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bioware, thank you for introducing me to Dragon Age and making me stuck in solavellan hell for years. If I have to say which game that made me draw fanart the most, is Dragon Age. The characters, the story inspired me so much to keep creating as an artist #Dragonage #Bioware
positive · AI labelView post →Oh dang Dragon Age Veilguard is free on PSN?! This will be my first dragon age game then haha
positive · AI labelView post →Veilgard might’ve performed better if the developers made a Dragon Age game, that looked, played, and was written like a Dragon Age game.
