What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 97 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (125 of 158 positive).
Players praise the game's humor, art, and nostalgic point-and-click style. [1][2][3] Many find the puzzles overly difficult and obscure, requiring guides. [4][5][6] Some reviewers note technical issues like unresponsive controls and dialogue skipping. [7][8][5]

I love many a point and click adventure and it was nice to hear that someone attempted to revive the old style. Sadly, reviving the old style also brought a lot of the bad parts of old school point and click back. The game wasn't necessarily harder, but a bunch of the puzzles follow some moon logic, alongside a lesser pixel hunt here or there. The game has a hint system, but the hints wouldn't proc, so I had to …

Lovely little game with strong nostalgia, and loads of clever jokes referring to the golden age of point-and-click. The graphics are very clean and filled with fun little details, and fun jokes when you try to do things you're not supposed to do. The drunkometer (it's called something else in the game, but I can't remember.. :) is a fun little thing, and the animations when the dude drinks are very cool, ranging …

A great game, even if you don't like...or understand beer. I am a sucker for a point & click adventure game, especially with a good ol' fashioned SCUMM interface like this. The artwork is just stunning, it has a beautiful, hand-drawn feel to it, and the comic timing in the animations is absolutely on point! Other plus points: The music is fab, not too intrusive, and it paints a brilliant atmosphere for the game. The …

It's hard. Prepare for using a guide, because otherwise you may quit out of frustration. Beside that, it's a great game. The spirit of desperation a man feels when everything he wants (a pilsner) is just exactly the thing he will not get (because reasons, you will find out) is soaking every dialogue. That's fun, also because all the different characters you meet are interesting to talk to and never fail to be …

So, I received this game to do a review as a kind of joke. I'm a barman so I receive a lot of key for game about alcohol. I love craft beer to... So, when my boss at Geekbecois saw a game making fun of it, she asked for a review key. This game is fantastic! In this beautiful point & click adventure, search for the pilsner of your dream as you make your way in a world where hipsters, vegan and craft beer are kings …

60 of 124 · most liked firstDude, Where Is My Beer? is not as fun as it sounds. Dude, Where Is My Beer? is a point and click aventure in which you play a middle aged man who just wants to drink a normal pilsner. At the beginning of the game you arrive in Oslo per bus and want to use your beak time to get a cold beer. But it gets clear relatively quickly that everyone in this damn city is young and hip and drinks fancy craft beers. At first that sounds like a fun game, but is it? (tl;dr I don't think so) It's a relatively…

neutral · AI labelView post →This game becomes tedious fairly fast since you need to be drunk in certain situations to talk/interact with people. You need to walk around town, visit bars, and do various fetch tasks. Without the hints from a certain character, it becomes a guessing game. The annoyance factor increases since the main character keeps asking for a pilsner and gets insulted or denied in the process. On a positive side, the best parts of the game are the art and some of the beer jokes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first glance, Dude, Where Is My Beer looks like a well-polished point-and click adventure game reminiscent of the early Sierra and LucasArts games. The art style is great, the music fitting and I have yet to find a single bug. The biggest flaw of this game is that the gameplay is, in essence, linear. Finishing one puzzle usually unlocks the next, and that one the next, causing the player to easily become stuck at any point in the game. The first key 'interaction' with the game state (other…

Not only does nobody in this game know what beer or even a pilsner is (ironically so), this is also one of the worst point n click games i have ever played... Let me start with the controlls: Clicking on things in general is unresponsive and u have to click 2 or 3 times sometimes for the game to register... The right mouse button is non-existent, so you…

neutral · AI labelView post →This game started of so well, the hunour, the graphics, the point and click references, but this game becomes over complicated to quickly and you dont know what you should be doing half the time. the inventory puzzles are beyond hard and I pretty much required a walkthrough throughout because they just didnt make sense. you never knew where to go or when a person or location would open and why it would open. There was no sequence to it, no way of figuring out what you should actually be doing.…

Plus the whole "middle-aged-protagonist finds himself in an incomprehensible world while searching for booze" aspect speaks to me on a deep level ;) Pros: -Funny dialogue -Detailed sprite animations -The game just has kind of a cozy feel to it. Very "Hygge", even if it's about a middle aged guy in search of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ beer. Meh...: -No Voice Acting. Not a big…

neutral · AI labelView post →With a heavy heart I must give a thumbs down, this game had so many little annoyances it was infuriating. (I played with true gamer difficulty) Let's start with just the UI, it's classical LucasArt Maniac Mansion / Monkey Island verb set, but even with hotkeys it's slow and janky. Dialogues do not progress by themself but you must click and it doesn't feel very responsive it's like there's 0.5sec delay to every click. Also, you can't scroll the inventory, only click - all in all, a lot of…

There's honestly not a single thing about the game that I can complain about... The art is fantastic, the music is great, the story is fun, and I didn't encounter a single bug. The difficulty varies from time to time, there were moments where I was rushing through the story, just to get stuck for an hour afterwards and having no clue what to do next, so the length of the game really depends on how fast you can find…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite it's simple premise there are enough challenging puzzles to engage the player for a few hours. It's artstyle reminiscent of a cross between Puzzle Agent and those Red Bull commercials make for a pleasant pallet and the surprisingly great music make getting stuck on a puzzle and staring at the same screens more than bearable. Certainly a product for these times, the story takes you on a quest for a simple pilsner in the city of Oslo seemingly overrun with hipsters and craft beer pubs. A…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Note: The following is an adapted review from my blog post [url=https://jellypuffplays.wordpress.com/2021/11/16/game-review-dude-wheres-my-beer/] here: I took a peek at the trailer and was like, ooh, point-and-click, yes! And although I’ve also gone sober IRL, I do remember having my fair share of craft beers at hipster pubs and felt like this was a very relatable experience. And that’s pretty much the main spiel in Dude, Where Is My Beer? You’re a guy looking for an old school pilsner beer…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i wasn't expecting much from this game given the less than appealing graphics and the silly theme, but this has still managed to be quite an unpleasant surprise. the game obviously wants to imitate the genre classics from the 90's, but it only manages to do so in the technical department; meaning you can't fast travel from screen to screen and the game eats up a lot more of your time than it should, there are no hotspot indicators (unlike some other games that's a problem here as some of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dude, Where's My Beer? is a classic comedic point-and-click adventure made by small developers in Norway and Costa Rica. The title is quite descriptive; in this game, our hero is an average bloke whose tour bus makes a pit stop in a hipster paradise with ultra-trendy bars, ultra-vegan food, and checkered shirts everywhere. He just wants to relax with a regular old pilsner beer, but no one seems to be carrying one. The humor and tone of this game is very different from the 2000 Ashton…

neutral · AI labelView post →This game is ridiculously hard and the solutions are really obscure. I didn't like how the dialog would pass automatically as i would click to skip some and inevitably skip additional dialogue when the automatic progress would occur too fast. Overall though, the fun art, environment, and possible tinkering to find hidden details makes it an enjoyable experience.

The art style looked cool but the concept seemed pretty shallow, like the kind of game that think's it's really funny but is actually painfully unfunny. Anyways, when I saw Dude, Where Is My Beer? In DWMB, you control a regular old school guy in search for a Pilsner, in a world full of craft beers. Though I personally believe this guy is in heaven, he doesn't care about all that, he just wants a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Pilsner. "Old School" is the keyword here, as the game also uses an oldschool, Lucasartsesque interface, and is also oldschool level of hard. I mean, I you think this is going to be yet another…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its not my type of game to play but I tried. Just I got stuck and tried to go around again but I couldnt go futher ... Its not bad but its kinda a puzzle game and I am not used to play it. But the game looks nice, how people talk and the music is good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really really wanted to like this game. The premise sounded great, the theme looked awesome. Unfortunately the puzzles are over the top hard, after MANY years of point and click games (ever since Maniac Mansion came out) I haven't played anything as difficult as this. Even so, the graphics and humor are pretty good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can say that this game is really well made with the graphics, music and story. It is humorous at almost every corner, very relaxed and has an interesting premise, which makes you want to know what really happened to that missing Pilsner. I highly recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like craft beer and want to have a laugh, this game is for you. Needed the walkthrough to beat it, but even so, it was worth it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lovely flashback to old Lucasarts and Sierra Entertainment adventure games of yore. Clever writing and a wicked art style. The game lovingly takes the piss out of the ridiculousness that craft beer can sometimes be.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Classic LucasArts style point & click gameplay, and with a great looking, hand drawn comic book style that easily sets it apart from other games! The puzzles are often a bit nonsensical, and some game progress is made concurrent with, but unrelated to, puzzle progress. On a second playthrough this felt like the flow of time moving, but on the first playthrough it just felt a bit confusing. However, it's not too large of a problem, and overall the puzzles are still alright. Sound effects are…
