Yes, its good enough. However, it is a very expensive game for being about a 6/10. Combat feels ok, story so far seems fine. If you are not a fan of the anime, I could see this game being not for you. If you are a fan, waiting for a discount would probably be the move. I am enjoying the game enough to recommend this game. The price however is too much for what the game is. Also, I have a decent PC, I will attach my …

I absolutely HATE seeing "leaving quest area" and being teleported back into a zone. This is supposedly a game that "encourages exploration", however you cant leave the town without being on a quest, you cant walk outside of the quest zone. if you do you get forcefully zoned back in. Everything worth "exploring" is 3 seconds off a road, chests are mapped for you so you never miss them or have to search, and you're …

Echoes of Aincrad A $30 game wearing a $70 price tag. How do you take one of the most iconic settings in anime—a 100-floor death game where every floor is a new world waiting to be explored—and somehow make it feel boring? That's Echoes of Aincrad. I came in expecting an open-world RPG where I could lose myself exploring Aincrad, discovering hidden areas, fighting unique monsters, and carving out my own story. …

Another overpriced polished turd by bandai namco, yet again. The game prologue is just long enough and filled with filler to prevent you to ask for a refund. And then after that you realized that the game is the equivalent of a bad indie game wrapped with "AAA" budget. - You pretty much kill so much boars, wolf and bees. I think I have probably destroyed Aincrad animal ecosystem. - Interesting unique set of skills for each weapon... until you realize you are lock with only 3 "special attack"…

Enter the sword art online world, be introduced to the plot, then...proceed to never be bothered with the actual plot again. Run around vast stretches of land with nothing that happens within them, ever. Be completely inconsequential and have no ability to interact with any actual plot. Do not Fish, Do not eat, Do not start a guild. Do not discover any powers or abilities or secrets anyone else didn't get to first. Do not ever do anything that matters to a world that doesn't care about you,…

For the SAO fans. Its not the game you actually want. Its an alright game not worth $70. Dont understand why the trees go invisible whenever i walk up to them or when i can walk through a log. Trees dont block enemy attacks, so cant use the surrounding area to your advantage. Not truly an Open-World. Tbh the demo was more exciting than the actual game to me. Dont seem to be able to change Partners gear other than main weapon, no armor or shield. TLDR- Not actually Aincrad like the anime. Not…

Leaving this review pains me, because I really hoped this time Bandai Namco would give us a decent SAO game. I waited to complete the game in Very Hard - Death Game Mode before leaving a review, to make sure I experienced everything the game had to offer before, instead of leaving one after 30ish hours like I first wanted to do. The game has a lot of flaws, and I agree with the vast majority of the reviews I read. I'll list a number of thoughts in no-particular order and they can be both…

10/10 — Finally, an SAO Game That Protects You From Aincrad I was worried this game might let me freely explore the world, discover things naturally, or experience some kind of adventure. Thankfully, the developers understood that freedom is stressful, so every new area is safely locked behind a random quest. You don’t just walk into the next zone because you’re curious. That would be reckless. First, you speak to an NPC, accept an objective, and receive temporary government authorization to…

*GAME REFUNDED* Rince and repeat running simulator. 2 shot enemies on very hard difficulty except elites and bosses. Fights and exploration feels unrewarding. World is empty, only mobs, can't interact with any NPCs except 2 vendors. No reason to explore town when you can fast travel to everything. With all this it gets boring quickly FOR ME. Need around 5h of gameplay before we can create our own character. Graphics are nice tho. Im just sad because I'm sure the story is very intresting.…

4/10 Positives: Combat and graphics Negatives: $70 price tag, too many reskins, not open world, crafting and shops are pointless. I really wanted to like this game. The combat and graphics are nice, but beyond that the game is really lacking, which is why I just can't recommend it at this price. If this had been a $30 game, I'd probably have a lot less of an issue with it. To add insult to injury, there's a lot of reskinning with the bosses and dungeons. The freedom of exploration, or…

Play the demo first. I thought "You're leaving the quest area" message was just for the demo. I thought I'd be able to explore the map in the full release. Nope. You have to go from town gate, straight to the objective. This is a hallway simulator with 7 different monsters and a sprinkle of plot. I'm good.

For instance, no open world, no real exploration or reason for exploration. Barely any dialogue options and they all basically mean the same thing regardless. No main character voiced and honestly in this game you’re not even the main character. Just some guy. The only part about this game worth a damn is the gameplay, which is a…

This review contains Endgame Mentions and Spoilers. 📜 Additionally, I have all the game's achievements and cleared on Very Hard mode. 5/10 - It is utterly disappointing what Bandai is doing to the SAO IP. Two SAO games released in a row and both are flops (the other being Fractured Daydream). It's becoming clear that because the IP is so large, Bandai thinks they can put less effort. This is essentially predatory. Echoes of Aincrad it "may" be sword art online by name but it isn't sword art online by heart and soul. this was a last ditch effort to make whatever remains that were left from the community after 5 arguably meh to mid games flopped and in my opinion this game falls short for what they wanted. "My grandmother was killed by a boar, I'd like you to kill five of them!" I played the Demo. I was internally laughing and screaming at how bad this is. This comes from someone who played Fatal Bullet and Lost Song. Let me start by talking about the notoriously hideous tutorial segment: There are people who formally study game design. Just stick with the demo if you want to try it -- the main game is basically 100% filler. The 'story' is a joke, with no payoff for any of the characters/story arcs they set up. There's no ending, the game just gets tired and plays the credits. Then there's an optional end boss, where beating it leads straight to credits, a pointless monologue about how your character is cool, and an ad for DLC. Characters teased as villains as early as the beta never have an impact on the story, and may…

The concept was right up my alley with it taking place in Aincrad and being a fake MMORPG. Game is incredibly lack luster and feels soulless. Exploration (if you can even call it that) is extremely tedious. You need to get to the checkpoint in the area to reveal the map of that area, which then reveals chest locations. The map hardly distinguishes elevation so you will still be lost at times because you took the wrong path at the branch. The first floor is okay in this regard as it's mostly flat but the second floor is a maze. The chest rewards are 95% of the time not worth the…

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. Speed ran the game like i do with tons, feel like i wasted half my playtime repeating the same 2 generic layouts. Exploration is pointless, so much effort for nothing, all drops are set so you can google for an item and just ignore the rest. Enemies are bland and repeat, i love fighting the same enemy in the tutorial as i do at the end of the game.... Not worth the price, even 50% off feels like too much, just go buy .hack…

I spent 8 hours in this empty game and I was incredibly bored for all of them. There is nothing to do in this game besides kill enemies, buy items, and listen to the boring banter of your teammates. If i could get a refund I would.

Simple review - Way to much cut out the game to launch on time. combat is pretty fun but scaling and Monster balance is off. Most mobs are 1 shots, elites are a couple skill uses and bosses are about 3 rotations of skills ( only due to them not taking damage between each stage). Only real deaths will be from cheap status effects or stun locks which are both simple counter. Crafting is not worth having at all and the REAL ISSUE is map exploration and chests. you will spend about 80%..... ok…

After having played through the level 1 Labyrinth I sure as hell am glad these devs did not get the chance to develop the other 98 levels.

I can only really recommend this for the die hard fans and even then wait for it to go on sale, like 75% off kind of sale. For a game that emulates a MMO it feels emptier than my dm's on my birthday. No job system; fishing, cooking, smithing, alchemy, etc.... non existent. There are a few very impersonable merchants you buy ♥♥♥♥ off of. There is zero reason to run around town as there is an in town fast travel. Not that youre missing much because there is only four areas of interest. I…

21/07/2026: The exploration complaint has been remedied by this game's small but rapidly growing modding community. With that in mind, if a game needs mods to be more enjoyable as a result, it does speak about the mediocrity of the game overall. ================================== I really wish Steam had a "Mixed" recommendation option, because that's exactly how I feel about this game. Echoes of Aincrad gets so many things right that I can't help but see just how much potential it leaves on…

For a $70 game, I expected a lot more than this. I honently wouldn't mind a $70-90 price tag at all if the game were actually good Let's start with the character models. NPCs look worse than a gacha game from 2020. Why doesn't the face skin tone even match the rest of the body? Then there's the mute MC. It's 2026, and this game still ships with a silent protagonist whose entire "acting" during dialogue is just shaking or nodding their head at dialogue options, even watching a friend die gets…

it is ok game but it need some improvement : - able to free roam without doing quest - change equipment outside of the town - improving character customization because it's UGLY AF, i never see anime character preset is ugly like this game

I love the SaO universe, and genuinely enjoy the "in the gamer's world" as the gamer concept. However, once again this game falls short for me. At first I glossed over the issues I had as "they'll smooth out"; that wasn't the case. A lot about this installment I found enjoyable- creating my character, upgrading my gear/stats, the way they would have in the SaO Season 1 story. My issues are: - Character creation has zero height adjustment. They say it's because of cutscenes, etc, but this is…

What I Liked Overall I had a fun time playing through the whole story. The combat is enjoyable and kept me interested from start to finish, and I liked being able to customize my character, even if I wish there had been a lot more options. I also enjoyed revisiting Aincrad and seeing the different floors. As a Sword Art Online fan, it was fun experiencing that world again, even if it wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. What I Didn't Like The story was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it…

Dull, empty and boring. Do not buy unless its on sale for 40-60% off. The dev's really didn't put much into this game so I can not see why anyone should pay a AAA price when its a clear budget title. I was going to wait on my review until I finished but its way to boring of a game and easy on normal that its hard to play with other better titles out there. - Dull world/town - Same enemy type. (I'm sick of fighting so many boars). - Very easy - Bland music. - Price for what the game offers.…

If you are a Sword Art Online fan, buy it. Is a nice enough experience with the locales you get to visit like the Town of Beginnings, the Labyrinth. Is all really spot on. However, if you are not a fan, don't bother. Skip it. As a game is a very flawed game. PS: Thumbs down and all, I'm still playing this to the end. I'm an SAO fool. What can I say? I was 40hrs in when I wrote the above. I just finished the game at 106hrs. Totally NOT worth it. Don't buy it! Don't Waste your money. Yes I'm…

Keeping it to the point, this game is unfinished - playing the demo perfectly shows the gameplay loop, types of environments you'll see etc. so play that and see if you like it then consider the below. You can carry over progress so don't worry about wasted time. (Also do not bother with deathgame mode, your time is more valuable than that, you don't get anything for beating it so just ignore it) The game simply ends after a certain point of your parties quest, you complete a dungeon that in…

Objectively a C-Tier jrpg, low B at best. Subjectively probably one of my top 10 favorite games. Worth it on sale, I'd like to say full price but I honestly just can't without knowing just how much of an SAO stan you are personally. Pros: - Aincrad + Character Creation = Win - Beautiful atmosphere - Satisfying (though repetitive) combat ainmations - UI actually based on SAO - Temu Elden Ring gameplay Cons: - Supporting cast of the roleplayer from Asuna's guild in the Abridged…

Lots of Lost potential. Pitch: Become your own Kirito with your own choice filled story. You actually don't. Changing gear only in your room. Not like Kirito who changes by inventory. Scripted losses and loss duel to a forced party member for you who is suppose to be a powerful player. Railroad. Like a 2000s newgrounds arena figther expect no cheering crowds or proper acknowledgement. No other noc players outside the towns trying to make it out expect your party members and yes it includes…

The prologue was unbearable to get through, the character creation is really bad and it takes forever to get to, combat feels the same and very boring and bare bones no matter what weapon you choose.

This is just an impossible game to recommend to anybody, literally. Which is an absolute shame, because you do see the potential this game had, the game is absolutely beautiful, the combat from your side is well integrated within the SAO world and it is fun to play, the worldbuilding is interesting, and the build variety is very good. Like the potential is incredible, but I wouldn't even recommend it to a SAO fan, SO MANY moronic decisions that absolutely do NOT make for an enjoyable experience…
