A very ambitious indie JRPG project that unfortunately suffers from being released in a buggy, half-finished state. I'm biased as I love the main cast, the overall story and the music (seriously how did they get THE Yasunori Mitsuda to compose a disc is beyond me) but recommending this to anyone comes with a big asterisk

It's a pretty good RPG overall, I've been enjoying it. While I do recommend the game for my fellow RPG lovers I must however caution you. This game has been very.. VERY buggy for me. Devs have abandoned this game. The game is an un-optimized disaster even after 4 years. I really wanted to complete the game and recommend it, as it was a genuine pleasure to play, but the game is now hardlocked on the main quest line making me unable to continue the game. Having such a harsh bug in a game is inexcusable. Hoping the devs get back and give a fix to the situation.

I finally beat this game, and while I really wanted to like it, I couldn't recommend it to anyone. If I could go back and tell myself to watch a youtube summery of the game, I really would. I also consider myself very much the target audience for this game, too. I'm a Xeno fan and I love the whole mixing of science fiction and fantasy. Critics, per Wikipedia

The game received "mixed or average reviews" according to Metacritic. RPGamer said the game "comes from a place of love", but Midgar Studio was too ambitious, resulting in many features that do not live up their initial promise. Although they praised the game's "stunning backdrops", they said there is little to do in the areas, and they found the combat to be repetitive and sometimes unbalanced. The story also showed promise to them, but they found the siblings unlikable and their quest to be "an uninspired journey". Describing it as "a love letter to classic Final Fantasy and Xenoblade games", Hardcore Gamer said that is "a good but not great JRPG" that "comes close to reaching its…

I want to start by saying that I like this game, and will hopefully beat it, but it did not receive nearly enough polish to say I recommend it. Voice audio not playing, the camera glitching out, the crystal system feeling like an afterthought. It could have been great if they put more time into it, but with no updates in the past 3 years it's obvious this game will remain a half-baked dream.

Another game in the series where I’m not sure whether to recommend it or not, but let’s say I do. Pros: - The game has everything you’d expect from a JRPG. The combat system is pretty good. The characters have a variety of skills to choose from. The crystal system is pretty cool, but in the endgame you’ll be rerolling them endlessly while upgrading. It have also a few discrepancies like Spring I indicating existence of Spring II. - A fairly well-developed crafting system. Of course, you’ll…

I really want to love Edge of Eternity for its story and several unique ideas, but the technical issues and bugs drag it down. Before I get into some of the technical issues, I want to give credit to a great feature on Steam, allowing you to instantly load into your last save upon starting the game. This is a great time saver and I feel this may be overlooked, love it for folks who have only small but many play sessions. The voice audio frequently cuts out during cutscenes, and navigating is…

Finally got around to beating the game after the purchase under quarantine many years ago. I have a lot of respect for ambitious kick starters and indie games, small dev teams, or even solo dev teams. The game is simply a combination of many ambitious ideas with very poor refinement. Nearly every aspect of the game suffers from an obvious lack of polish. If this game was a Christmas present for an anticipating audience; one that had been wrapped improperly, then taped, cut, taped over again,…

No feedback from the Kickstarter or Early Access was properly addressed, and typically outright ignored. The unfinished POS we've got here was only declared "finished" so that they could move onto the next cash grab, Edge of Memories. Frequent game-crashing bugs throughout, "stuck" menus that overlay DIFFERENT menus, and other technical issues are just the START of all the problems with this game. The balance is janky, with both leaps and dips in difficulty. The interface is horrible, with…

To be honest I'm loving this game, I like the combat a lot, the visuals are nice, this music does a ver good jub at being music, the voice acting is done with care and the main characters are charismatic. For a small company they have a lot of good things going on. There is only 2 things wrong with this game: The 1st and least important, the maps are HUGE and can be a pain in *** to explore it all, but after you get fast travel it's not a big problem. Feels like a small/unpopular MMO that got converted into a turn-based jRPG in a couple of months. The first thing you do is an MMO style fetch-quest in an open world. Bland open world. Chests with junk are littered everywhere, much like trees or mineable rocks in an MMO are. Controls are just a little too clunky (really resembles a cheaper MMO). There are lots of small interactions that just feel unfinished (like rocks instantly vanishing if you hit/collect them or UI stretching in weird…

I forgot to write a review after playing this game some time ago, so I thought I could warn others about it. Honestly, I really wanted to like this game because it looked pretty nice and Selene looked like a great character before I played (I discovered the game because of her), but... I've played many games of this genre and I've pretty much finished every one of them or, at the very least with the ones I've dropped, I gave them at least 10-15 hours as a…

Game is totally broken. Lots of literally Gamebreaking bugs. Basic mechanics break, need to replay fights because i literally can't dammage opponents because the game breaks. Camera shifting and then not moving at all (my character isn't even on screen and its not possible to fix without closing and reopening the game). Cutscenes playing twice in a row. This is one of the worst and most buggy experiences I've had with a game.

Made with absolutely no budget, free assets and animations from Unity, way too many bugs with UI, graphical and audio and so many more issues... but still appealing. I can't decide if it's the strategic combat, searching for loot boxes and stuff or way too ambitious story for this amount of budget but...I still like it. If you get this game for REALLY cheap then you can pick up this extremely flawed product up. Otherwise there is a lot more coherent titles similar to this out there.

Did anyone here play EDGE of ETERNITY ? A #JRPG infused game from French studio Midgar. It's a game with a fair number of issues, but it showed promise and a love of traditional JRPG stories and mechanics. I'm hoping Midgar are able to build on EoE and realise their potential with this new game.

Too big and ambitious for it's own good. Story's a bit all over the place, and the (english) voiceover is a bit corny, but good ideas mostly, and the battle system's fun. Soundtrack's pretty good too. plenty of bugs, the enemy level-scaling, generic-looking assets and the weird crafting system do take a toll on this game though. the final boss is too overpowered imo. good effort all in all though, especially for a small indie team's first game. Almost 3/5.

Easily the worst JRPG I've ever played. I wanted to finish it before reviewing, but I've given up; it feels like homework. Six hours in and the only 'story' I have is that the two leads, brother and sister, want to find a cure for their sick mother. When I got the "Chapter 1 Complete" achievement, I was so confused. The animations are empty, the main character is skinny to the bone with a running animation that doesn't really fit and not two steps out into the first field all you see is empty space. The first section of the game (~2 hours) before you get to the first big city shows off a lot of the combat and how dynamic the sector based system can be especially on nightmare difficulty but after that it feels like more of the same. If you do like that first section you will like the rest of the game. The…

Nope, I do not recommend it at all. Devs abandoned the game. This game has tons of bugs, runs smooth on my 9070 XT but no grass showing at all, devs saying it’s the AMD driver issue but it can’t be after years and years of AMD drivers. I did and supported the early access back a long time ago and waited and waited for them to finish but they abandoned it in 2023. I was running on my MSI Claw 8+ handheld and it’s alright and the grass is there. I got stuck in chapter 1 of a very old patch but…

It has a lot of low-budget jank to struggle with early on before the story and gameplay elements have time to grow, but I'm liking it overall. I wish the cutscenes had a little more heart to them because I found parts of the story to be engaging but the presentation of it left a lot to be desired. The worst part is definitely the U. If you can get past that stuff there's something very unique here that's worth a look if you are into RPGs, especially if it's on sale.

Solid game, bit buggy in some areas, but was able to play on keyboard + mouse no problem. 7/10 game

Like a TEMU version of Final Fantasy. This should be a $5-10 max. It is comparable to a tablet based rpg.

Feels like an unfinished MMORPG. The start is very lacking, you just basically spawn in tutorial area and no story hook to be seen anywhere. Then you get to experience the combat which is just very basic and boring, might get better later in the game, but the game didnt grab me enough to play more than that.

This game is frequently on sale for like $5. I got it on sale and I've been having fun with it so far. The voice acting is a bit clunky/wooden, but I haven't noticed many bugs unlike other reviews. It is, like other people say, quite slow. I'm 11 hours in and only just got the third party member (you start with two already). It's definitely not worth $40 CAD but if you grab it on sale it's a fun romp.

I just finished "Chapter 1" according to the game. I can't in good faith recommend this game whatsoever. The animations are pretty bad, especially when it comes to syncing with voiced scenes. Some characters mouths will stay open for no reason, other characters feel like they should be properly animated, but aren't (The talking flower.) The voice acting is, pretty good however. Even if the animations don't match up with what's being said. The developers also seemed to not want to animate…

If you ignore the amount of bugs you see in the game, it's one of those unique games that you'd return to just to see what happens next

Got it in preparation for the sequel... Shouldn't have. Exploration movement is slow even with a mount, camera angles in battle are rough, voiced dialog frequently cut off mid sentence, battles take a long time, frame rate drops often. Painful honestly.

Completely unbalanced game. Exp rewards sometime give enormous amounts and sometimes none for identical fights. Optional quests are the most egregious examples. Bosses are a mess and seem completely unfair unless you yourself break the spirit of the combat system and abuse exploits. The story is as much of a mess with a litany of rpg tropes that cannot come to a cohesive conclusion.

Stunning visuals, good soundtrack and likeable characters, particularly outstanding from a small studio. The grid turn based combat is decent as well, feels really satisfying to chain up different movements and skills. The details are interesting and well thought out too, like the side quests and the skits actually explain why the mc can wield a great sword. The devs really put their hearts into the game! Call me mad but it is one of the best RPGs I've played.

Put me down for another "I WANT to like this game" review. There's something in here that was worth the attempt. A charm to the world they crafted. But I have seen very few games this jaw-droppingly buggy and downright broken, in a final release. Watching dragons in Skyrim suddenly break and start flying around backwards away from you at rapid speeds has nothing on what this game offers. A list of a few bugs/unpolished/unfinished/etc frustrating moments I've encountered: - crashes - Characters…

“Why, why would you do that?” ~Ross Geller Like many other Japanese things, the JRPG genre is in a bad place right now. And it's been like that for quite some time. The economy, though, is not the only thing to blame here. I mean, let’s admit it, since turn-based stuff became “uncool” in mainstream media, the genre has had a really hard time finding its new identity. That thing Bethesda did for Fallout (say whatever you want 'bout 'em but they did manage to reinvent the series for a new…
