I dont understand the decision to put a cinematic in every other room, or for every little thing, in a fast-paced roguelike game lmao

First, here is a Steam review from a stranger that somehow sold me on the game: This game is a gem, if you're borderline retarted because of your autism you'll love this game 11/10. Makes nueron in brain go bing....when play berry gud! lotsa play! Berry big time! If you understand what he’s talking about, then that’s honestly all you need to know - just go buy this game. One of the best action-roguelites I’ve played …

Super fun co-op. Really dig this game for co-op sessions. Fun lite builds to work on. Pretty solid to play with my kid as an intro to some build-craft. Controls feel super clean and responsive. Just having a blast with my family on this one.

For a Roguelike this game has it all! I absolutely love the depth to this game without feeling overwhelming. there are so many cool skills and upgrades that you can utilize and I absolutely love their systems. Can't recommend enough!!!

Reminiscent of Hades without being a clone and beautiful. Huge viable build variety and progression, along with splitscreen and online multiplayer. If you like roguelites, or couch coop; you should spend money on this.

92% of the 207 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Ember Knights. The complaint that keeps coming up: unskippable cutscenes slow down gameplay. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gives a great first impression but wears out its welcome after a bit. The game seems like it checks all the boxes. Theres 7 weapons, solid visuals, theres lots of relics, abilities, stat upgrades, and some secrets and other things. Theres 2 currencies, 1 that upgrades abilities and weapons, and 1 that gives other health and damage buffs for permanent progress. The issue is with some of the other problems. First off, there's thinkg like the time limit capsule not showing up until after you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll give the most straight forward review here. It's a very good rouguelike arpg. That's it. It's not a full price game but you can get plenty of fun out of it. Everything seemed very polished also, no crashes or slow downs. At a discount, it's very solid, it just doesn't stand out as great.

positive · AI labelView post →Only played a short amount of time but this is the kind of game i have been wanting for a long time. Great roguelite with power ups, fun bosses, mini bosses that are just as fun, different weapons for tons of replayability, and co-op on top of it. Not many games has done what this one has done and it thoroughly deserves the overwhelmingly positive reviews that it has. Simple, elegant; we need more games like this from developers that care to make good games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the gaming feats I have achieved and am very proud of is holding a world record speed run on the game Ember Knights.
positive · AI labelView post →THIS GAME IS AMAZING! IDK how I never heard of this games before but my goodness IF YOU ARE READING THIS PLAY IT! Overall most fun I've had gaming in a while with buddies and its like all of us teaming up to play Hades 1 & 2! Massively replayable and so many different options that it's one of those games I imagine I'll be playing for a long time. Bust has been favorite build and the fact that there's an endless mode and daily challenges means the game is practically endless.

My therapist has been very supportive.
positive · AI labelView post →this game is vary peak, i played the hellout of it and now that around 40 hours was when i unlocked everything this game is vary fun i defintly will get back into it after taking a long break becuse it now has cross play overall story 5.5 combat 9 abilitys/upgrades 10 custimization 8 wepons 10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun indie game, could use more content, and delete Terrorbyte lol.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Review from a solo player" This game is really fun just needs a few adjustments...You can unlock almost every weapon/skill in about 10 hours maybe this is good for some but i like games where you have to complete a run using said item/skill in order to unlock another and this can be randomized for replayability think Binding of Issac or even Hades to a lesser extent but it forced you to use every skill in order to unlock collectables and really see different builds...There should be more…

neutral · AI labelView post →We played the Ember Knights DLC on stream last and had a lot of fun. The new weapons and bosses were great! Also they added like 90 achievements since we last played!? Heavily recommend if you’re looking for a game with friends.
positive · AI labelView post →I started playing Ember Knights with some friends after seeing it on the Steam sale on a whim It was a hit! I spent more time this weekend with this group of friends than I have in quite a while just running through the game. At $7 and $14 with DLC that seems to double the content, it's very much worth it for a game that's basically couch coop "Hades at home". It also supports Remote Play Together fwiw, but we've had mediocre luck using it
positive · AI labelView post →It's the same as every other broken "rogue like" or "rogue lite" or whatever they call themselves these days. Do good, get punished. Enemies scale to match your growth, which defeats the point. Got tired of dodging just to take damage when I landed. First boss is invincible. Pass.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shocked by the positive reviews praising the multiplayer, this is surely one of the worst multiplayer arpg roguelites out there. Forcing everyone to pick their rewards one at a time is an excruciating time waster. Stat gems drop in a pile that anyone can pick up so you either waste more time having people check what dropped and who needs what or it's just spam pick up everything before your friends do. Hilarious the first couple times as a joke but poor design after that. This game seems to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In a sea of roguelites trying to cash in on the addictive gameplay trend, Ember Knights is one of the greats. Offline multipler, online muliplayer, smooth action, loads of content BEFORE the DLC even dropped. If I wasn't trying to only play this game together with a group of friends, I'd have 300 hours clocked easy. Also the ember knights are adorable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →im honestly surprised on how good the game is, has a lot of game modes like endless, boss rush or "preset" dungeons in the form of daily dungeons. weapons differ from eachother in playstyle and spells look and feel great to use. this is what Wizard of Legends 2 should have been
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enter boss room Wait for 10 seconds during unskippable cutscene Fight boss Boss turns completely invincible for 20 seconds, so wait around doing nothing Fight boss some more Wait another 20 seconds while boss turns invincible again Kill boss Wait 10 seconds during unskippable celebration Gets annoying pretty quick Why are all the bosses invincible? Why? Do you want me to fight the boss or not?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lot's of fun to play solo or with your friends. There are so many different mechanics and builds to explore. Even after you clear all the late game content, there are tons of challenges (trials) to try and unlock new skins for your weapons. I just want to play a quick game and then all of a sudden hours went by and I didn't even notice. Roguelike, bullet hell, multiplayer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was not made for single player mode. Just a long grind fest progression. Forces you to do the daily over and over because it gives way more resources for clearing 3-6 rooms vs the regular mode which would take you at least triple that many rooms to get the same resources.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great roguelite game for anyone who likes hades 1 or 2. the multiplayer function works great
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute art-style, fun gameplay, there's a cat, there's a dog, you can pet them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best kind of roguelite, which is to say, some runs can get very broken in the player's favor.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The most fun I've had in a local coop roguelike. Please someone tell me more like this. BoI is too difficult and not very enjoyable local coop. I have windblown but it's EA. Please there's gotta be more with this level of polish and amazing couch coop.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a Roguelike this game has it all! I absolutely love the depth to this game without feeling overwhelming. there are so many cool skills and upgrades that you can utilize and I absolutely love their systems. Can't recommend enough!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ember Knights Another great choice for game night, this is a top-down action roguelike for up to 4 players with a decent variety of weapon and skill sets to experiment with. It's also pretty tough and often unforgiving, so plan accordingly! store.steampowered.com/app/1135230/...
positive · AI labelView post →It's a good game, inspired by Hades in both its concepts and mechanics, which might be a turn-off for some, but for playing with friends, you probably won't find a better roguelike. The graphics are smooth and pleasant, and everything is well optimized

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A few things preventing me from recommending this game: It had terrible freezing and stuttering even after a restart. I don't have this problem with any other games I play on steam. The game had my CPU at around 30-40% utilization on its own, even sitting in the menu screens. I assume it was designed this way for a reason, but when playing multiplayer with friends each person takes turns one at a time picking loot at the end. We all have to sit there and watch each other pick things, and it…

neutral · AI labelView post →the most "should only be worth 10 dollars" game i've ever played in the history of ever. Like its better than WoL 2 but thats an incredibly low bar. Gets boring incredibly quickly. Don't waste 20 dollars on this just go buy Hades. Oh yeah! By the way, the 10 dollar DLC is basically the main game but the fodder is a bit different and the areas look a bit cooler. Oh and the final boss is different. That's it that's all they did.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy this game and recommend it to anyone interested in rouge-likes, Ember knights has been a recent hyper-fixation for me with how much content it has to discover, from the simple charm in dialogue, to the secret unlockable items and cosmetics i can tell there was a lot of love put in this game and I don't see charm like that everywhere. Along with DLC that basically doubles the base content in the game along with adding Boss rush and new secrets to discover there is a ton of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really, really fun in coop, with very cool and unique builds. Big recommendation!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing replayable rogue like game, for the best experience play with your friends however it’s still great playing alone, DLC is 100% worth it too, every run feels different.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Reminiscent of Hades without being a clone and beautiful. Huge viable build variety and progression, along with splitscreen and online multiplayer. If you like roguelites, or couch coop; you should spend money on this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good, not so easy at the beginnig, especially with bosses. Much easier later with some upgrades. Weapon upgrades open itself almost at the end of the game, would be great to have them earlier.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ember Knights is a pretty awesome game and I'm glad we finally got to check it out! I'll be back tomorrow at the usual time for more of The Bazaar. Hoping to see you then. Have a great rest of your day!! 🎨@/lizbel.bsky.social

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a lot to offer if you want to have fun with friends. Solo its also very good but in my opinion its made for coop. Decent scaling difficulty, a bunch of builds per weapon and a lot of customization. If you like to start every run with a slightly different build that you have to adapt to but also a lot of depth if you know what you are doing then this game is for you. It packs a lot more than you might think at first glance. Give this game a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a GREAT game. I've been hooked on it since high school.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get the DLC, worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really fun with friends
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh boy, I was hesitant because of the bit art style but this is just an awesome wholesome and challenging but rewarding game. Small details is what makes the next run to be as fun as the first one and you can keep pushing yourself as much as you want since the game keeps changing around you, is not just increasing stats but mechanics, attacks, etc. It is now part of my must-to-play in roguelike genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its like Hades, but for kids.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →most misterable multi player experience of my life
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought I already beat the game, then I realise I've only beaten half the game (at best).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuinely a great game my uncle showed me this game and I know I just started playing this game (3.9hrs) but I've enjoyed the game so much. Its amazing if you play it solo, but if you have someone to play it with its super fun and so much more enjoyable. The progression in this game is perfect its not too fast but not too slow either I love the massive amount of builds you can try out. The different combos with skills and weapons is so good it doesn't feel repetitive. I give it a 9/10 I can not…
