What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 31 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (68 of 73 positive).
Players praise the game's stunning artwork and beautiful music. [1][2][3] Many appreciate the deep, emotional story about climate change and survival. [1][2][4] Some criticize the game for pushing a political agenda too aggressively. [5][6]

The first Nova-box game I didn't appreciate. The eco agenda slams you in the face on every turn, not even leaving space to the story, or character development, or drama, or anything else, honestly. Were they sponsored by some save-the-planet-kill-yourself funds? So aggressive I wanted to drive all my three cars to the steak-house while drinking my 13th coffee with genomodified honey in it. Meh.

Like many other Nova-box games, this game has so much depth to the story. The story of End of Lines really resonates with a lot of what's going on in the world today and I think many people will be able to see a personal attachment to it through one of the well thought out characters. Artwork, as always with Nova-box games, is absolutely stunning and stylized in such a way that adds to the story. The decisions …

Narrative game, with multiple choices, and endings. Post apocalytic setting, where you have to take decisions that will impact who survives, how, and where their road ends (or not). Visually stunning, with a beautiful musical score, and a top notch narrative writing quality. Tone and topic are alas very modern, about global warming.. or global warning even... This game should be played by everyone with kids, to …

A truly wonderful visual novel! It's made of texts and images but it's so well written and dynamic we can almost feel it's animated. There are scenes where the characters are being chased, and we literally hold our breath! The theme of the game may seem bleak but above all, the story is about life: the characters are moving and the choices they make are very relatable. In the end, this is a game that gives courage …

The art is absolutely gorgeous, and I liked the literary style too. As for the essence, it makes absolutely zero sense and reads like an extremely cheap manipulation attempt. First, a work of art is not meant to be such a straightforward vessel of a political message - it's fine to have a message, but it's not fine to try and cram it down my throat so explicitly. Second, the actual scenario doesn't make any sense - …
Summarised from 34 of the 43 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 10, 2026. How summaries are made
94% of the 31 Steam reviewers we collected recommend End of Lines. The complaint that keeps coming up: some find the political message too heavy-handed. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

Every choice is survival, every step a question: will they find a place to call home? End of Lines is out now on PC, Mac & Switch Steam page ▶️ store.steampowered.com/app/1658960/...
neutral · AI labelView post →Another BS woke game pushing global warming and climate change nonsense. Features a gay guy pretending to be a priest and other woke garbage. If you hate woke games, steer clear of this one. Pros: None. Cons: Woke agenda, climate change preaching, gay priest character. Verdict: Pure woke trash avoid at all costs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked it. It made me think. I am still young enough and also exceptionally cynical to consider that I might have to live through the end-of-the-world scenario portrayed in this game. I made my choices based on my current set of morals and beliefs, although I do not know if I would be able to keep them if the worst truly comes to pass (although I hope I will). The results were, mostly, agreeable and somewhat positive, although some were sad and traumatic for some of the characters. In the end…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nova-box has never disappointed. I started playing End Of Lines with super high expectations, and the game met and surpassed what I was hoping for. I love how distinct End Of Lines' plot and artwork is from the previous titles. Nova-box really went in a different direction for this title, and it paid off. I'm not sure if I would say EOL is my favorite of the Nova-box collection because Across The Grooves was so exceptional, but EOL has a definitely earned its place among the Nova-box greats.

neutral · AI labelView post →I recommend this game especially if you have liked other Nova-box "graphic novels". I've already played it three times and have been surprised by the very different storylines that can be played out, with very different endings. The story is interesting, believable, with good music and nice artwork.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been really enjoying End of Lines so far. The writing is incredible (verging on TOO good, as some of the word choices are as beautiful and unique as the art). It's painting a realistic potential future of the world, the characters are immediately likable, and the story definitely is doing a great job at bringing me into their world (our world...) If I have to give it any criticism, occasionally, one of the presented choices isn't clear on what you're actually attempting to answer. (And…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not yet far in, but am amazed by what i have experienced so far! This is not for everyone; an apocalypse driven by climate change is not usually the stuff of games and this is not a bullet-driven end of times, where the good guys get to save the day. You lead a group of people who rely on your judgement, as you search for somewhere safer to settle with a secure supply of water and a chance for food. The first choice you make is your style of leadership and this sets the tone for the game,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredibly bleak. And unforgiving. And beautiful. Like watching a time lapse of a body's decomposition. Seeing the body slumped against the tree trunk, deteriorating and then slowly becoming a part of the tree, then covered in roots and then covered in flowers and surrounded by fallen leaves. You want to look away, but you just.... can't. Are we all just helpless bystanders waiting for the inevitable? Or are we the architects of our own demise? The latter implies agency and, if that is the…

neutral · AI labelView post →First playthrough done after three hours of gameplay. At least three more to go to see all the branches game has to offer, and I'm eager to head back in to experience more of the story. End of Lines tells a sad story of what our world looks like after climate change. Well written characters with different personalities add depth to the journey.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →End of Lines is an exceptional interactive graphic novel with captivating storytelling and stunning art. The thought-provoking plot weaves mystery, suspense, and emotion, keeping you engaged throughout. I haven't finished the whole game, but it still is interesting enough for me to do so! I noticed however that there is no autosave at chapters/checkpoints but I understand that players might want to do the manual save at certain choices on their own (Autosave is a lifesaver for someone like me…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Speed Runnable It's hard to build an emotional attachment to the characters in a text-on-graphics game. But I played in scanning or fast mode and completed, in little over 3 hours, it was, well a bewildering story. End of Lines, is a story about the end of the line for refugees, the splitting of families, an end for life on earth under a hot sun. A sun which you can feel baking on your shoulders even through the fabric of the tent. The heat is overpowering, even at night it feels hot, and it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A gorgeous story of post climate apocalypse refugees struggling to survive in a world ruined by their ancestors. You balance simplified resources and morale while making major decisions about their actions as they look for a safer, better home. I appreciated the game's punishment when I tried to hit a perfect balance of situations. To paraphrase Noah Gervais: there is no disco option. You must make tough choices and live with them. Definitely worth a playthrough or two.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For our part, we painted the damage caused by humans on Earth in our game End of Lines.
neutral · AI labelView post →Fantastic, heart wrenching
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get this if only for the artwork. Especially from about 1/3 of the way through, the artwork really hits its stride. Absolutely flooringly stunning. I want so many of the frames as a poster. Story: the characters are incredibly well-developed. Also, the story has a lot of heart. The plotline (are there multiple?) that I ended up in made me cry so hard. Really good at punching you in the gut. I'm partway through a second playthrough and so far the basic structure of the story seems to be set,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →End of Lines is a narrative-focused adventure that explores survival through an emotional and deeply human perspective rather than traditional mechanics centered around combat or large-scale resource systems. Developed and published by Nova-box, the game places players inside a future devastated by environmental collapse, creating a journey where difficult decisions, personal relationships, and resilience become more important than physical power. Instead of presenting survival as an empowering…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I found this to be a very thoughtful view of a future wrecked by climate change. It kept me interested the whole time, good pacing, always something going on. I have only done one play through so far but there is a summary page at the end that shows what achievements you unlocked and it looks like there is much more to discover. I tried reloading at some choices but got the same outcome, so it seems like the choices you make throughout the game accumulate, which is neat. The writing is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another solid entry in Nova-box's visual novel series.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another fantastic game from Nova-Box. As always the art is beautiful, the sound design is great. I've seen some complaints that its got a political agenda, and this is true, but i have no issue with that. Nova-Box makes some of the best interactive graphic novels around, and it's really worth the time/money if your into these sort of games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A somber journey through a ruined world. Novabox does a great job establishing a compelling romance. Their journey of survival is tense and exhilarating. Great work as always.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nova-Box has made yet another amazing story game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic and emotional game. Only played one play through so far but keen to try every one possible. The art is utterly gorgeous, the music and sound design evocative and the characters are wonderfully portrayed. Heartbreaking moments throughout, each decision really feels like it matters and there is no right way of playing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautifully written (although with a few typos, extra words, and some 'interesting' choices of words), Awesome art and music. The story got me hooked from beginning to end.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting premise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so good. It's the post apocalypse, and you and your family are on a journey to find some sort of oasis to survive. Your family however, has some advantages. Your character is intelligent, your wife is a fearless leader and your child can see dead people. This is a harsh game and I had to stop at times because this almost feels like a horror game. This is a reality of what our children's lives could be if climate change continues, and that is truly terrifying. It is REALLY really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great...lots of choices....replayability...great art, music, writing, and story. I got a "rare" achievement that made the game so sentimental and sad. It ended well in my route. It's a great game! I recommend it. It was pricy for me but it's well worth the money!
