I've completed the game and this is my review so far: Every Day We Fight is a turn based strategy similar to XCom but with real-time gun battles that remove the dreaded dice roll % chance of a hit. This is genius and I hope that other publishers follow suit and herald in a new sub-genre. The game looks nice and mostly plays well though there are a lot of bugs that currently mean you will be quitting and restarting …

This game is best described as a fantastic idea with a conspicuously flawed implementation. But it's still Early Access, so that's understandable. The good: - Scramble mechanic. I predict this will become a turn-based tactics staple in the future. - First-person control for overwatch shots. As above, this is brilliant and will become ubiquitous. The bad: - Kind of buggy. Lots of pickups can't be picked up because …

It's a more straightforward affair than any of those, but taking 12hrs for a fairly comprehensive completion on Hard difficulty (the default), it didn't outstay it's welcome. There are a lot of positive reviews. This game could be good in the future. I think people are reviewing it based on that. As it is, version .7 feels like an early beta. Lots of bugs, crashes, quality of life issues, imbalances, and additions to the core game play loop are needed. I just don't understand the amount of positive reviews there are when beating the first battle gives an achievement that only 52% of purchasers have earned. I want to like this game. It needs quite a bit of work to…

I've got this game for 50% off and still feel it was too expensive... I have finished the game after 11 hours of fairly bland and boring gameplay. Weapons upgrades and crafting are basically meaningless. The story in itself is kind of fun and the time travel / parallel worlds mechanic does explain the "respawn" of the main characters. The surroundings are eery and creepy. But that is basically everything positive I can say about the game. I haven't run into any game breaking bug, but with as…

Maaaannnn, I really wanted to like this game. It has so much that I love, nearly perfect XCOM style strategy, cool sci-fi extradimensional-alien-time travelling crap, neat aiming mechanism, a base to upgrade at, an engaging story, and maybe some other things I forgot. Buutttt, it is boooriiiing! So boring. 1. The gun part upgrades are really underwhelming compared to getting new gear. I mean really lame and forgettable. 2. TL:DR: An interesting turn based tactics game sprinkled with crippling bugs. This game is a fun idea. It works like Pheonix Point (XCOM, but you actually aim which I like far more than "99% point blank oops you missed"). The story is good, the graphics are fine, the voice acting is enjoyable. The systems work and tactically it's where I'm good enough but not falling asleep. There is a crafting system that the game could loose without losing anything of importance and a modding system that I…

I've just completed the game, so I have complete understanding of all aspects of the current state of it (it is still in Early Access at the time of writing which is late August, 2025). Long post, sorry, but worth reading, I hope. Love the game world and the way combat works. Really like the reflex actions when a character is targeted giving them chance to evade, but the fights are ridiculously unbalanced. outnumbered, outgunned and out armored. Makes the game frustrating as hell having to keep redoing the same fights over and over again.

Some cons and pros: +++ Very interesting gameplay, first person view when aiming is amazing. +- Character skill tree could be better but its not bad. -- Items and weapons selection is very poor, pistol, shotgun, machine gun, and rifle, no variants. You gan get some mods to them but it feels lackluster. +- Little puzzles while exploring the city are quite nice, but quickly become too repetitive and tiresome. Hopefully I can amend this review once it hits full release but in its current state I just can't give it a positive review. Interesting mechanics but very limited in terms of gear/skills/perks/crafting/characters. I didn't run into as many stability issues as other folks based on other reviews, but it also wasn't really engaging enough to make me care about the mystery, 3 stock characters, or progressing things; felt like a proof of concept demo more than anything else. Haven't had a game I dropped in the tutorial for years. Also hadn't one with two crashes before I even started. The general concept seems to be "let's not be XCom" while completely disregarding why Firaxis chose it's designs to begin with. Real time shooting is horribly bad. Looks solid like a Phoenix Point clone until the aliens start to move. Because it makes you realise you don't have the aim quality of an actual 1st person shooter. You know, the the number one thing that makes those…

25 hours play time. there's a lot to enjoy in this tactical turn based game. Part XCOM, part (almost) Dark Souls, this is game very much focuses on the combat, with limited exploration as you make your way around a time locked city, unearthing the history of where and how it came to be in the state it's in. There's a lot to find, and a lot to read all of which makes for a compelling and interesting back story to what the hell is going on in the game. I mention that first because I think it's…

I mostly decided to check the game out from seeing it on Christopher Odd's YouTube channel. I like the concepts the game has compared to most normal turn based games, you being in control of your own aim opposed to say XCOM's style of chance to hit and missing with a 99% chance to hit. My only complaint, is that I wish it were longer, having beaten all 3 acts within 9 hours. Hopeful to see what they continue to do with the game in the future!!

The concept of a roguelite turn-based strategy game is nice, but I feel like you have to repeat too much, which makes it a bit repetitive. Especially since from what I have heard, you never get to expand your squad, which is sad because it limits your ability to experiment with different classes. I wanted to play more, but I got softlocked by a bug (I can’t leave the sewers anymore) after about 1.5 hours of playing. The game definitely has potential, but it still needs some updates and…

Positive: Good writing on the world building. We haven't seen this kind of story in this genre of game yet. I really appreciated the new, interesting twists, that almost balanced out my biggest problem with the game. Great combat, excellent complexity and trade offs for commonly cheesed mechanics (cough OVERWATCH cough), good balance to difficulty as new enemy types are introduced and new mechanics are unlocked through story progression. This might be a worthy bandaid for the XCom…

Eclectic mix of roguelite progression, open world/metroidvania exploration, and xcom tactics. Has some good mechanics but the different elements don't mesh together very well, and the focus on narrative combined with weak writing bogs down the experience.

Also out today (also in early access) is Every Day We Fight. A story-heavy tactics game (think XCom + Mutant Year Zero but with Valkyria Chronicles-style manual aiming) and some time-looping roguey stuff going on. Got sent an early key but I'm barely past the tutorial thanks to an enormous backlog.

Love Xcom 2 but hate this games attempt to use the tactics. Its way, and i mean way too hard. almost impossible to beat even with multiple attempts and a silly amount of deaths. They want you to die over and over again to level up and advance, but it fails in too many ways for me to keep playing it. It starts to become the opposite of fun and that turns into me wanting to delete the game, which is what I'm doing. I do not advise anyone to play it unless they make some major changes so you can…

I was expecting a XCOM meets FPS kinda deal, i got Rogue like positioning game where almost none of your progress continues forward (You keep scrap and levels but lose everything else. Mods, Story Items, Weapons, etc.) there is almost no incentive to explore, considering all you get for future runs is.... the ability to get a random thing in the same spot. I’m relatively new to turn-based tactics games (only played a bit of XCOM 2 before this), so I wasn’t sure what to expect going in. To my surprise, I’ve really enjoyed Every Day We Fight. I just finished the game and can honestly say it has been a good experience. The flow was good, the turn based strategy layer was great and the exploration was fun, if a bit clunky. The things I'd look to improve are the camera, the save game situation, and the lack of a warning that triggering the final mission locks you out of all the other achievements in the game because you cannot return to the city.

A good buy. Despite being Early Access, you get a largely complete game experience. The Good: The story line is interesting. The characters feel natural, and engage with one another in a fairly realistic way. The voice acting is good, and helps to sell the struggle the characters are progressing through. The strategies are varied, and the battle fields are (typically) large enough to allow for a variety of tactics. Most of the fights are initiated by you, and reward you for clever opening…

This is an Early Access, and it feels that way, but not so much as you could think. I'll edit this review as the game evolves. At the moment, the game is an excellent iteration of the roguelike (Darkest Dungeon 2) and tactical games (well known X-Com-like). Very good game with good combat innovation. You need a good computer to run it otherwise you will probably need to lower your graphic setting. Also, you can try DirectX 11 in the option at launch if you still have trouble with the game performance. Important, if you want to use the mouse during exploration, you just need to select the option Mouse Free - Roam Movement in the controls option in the setting.

Nice combat engine, small squad tactics with free aiming like Phoenix Point. But the setting, story, and characters are insufferable. Like XCOM: Chimera Squad, you are required to play with preset characters whose voice actors and dialogue are eyeroll-stuff that you will silence as soon as possible. Unlike Chimera Squad, the setting and story seem to be familiar video game cliches. I have tried this game a few times but have not succeeded in forming any interest in whether the main characters…

At the current price point there is more than enough worthwhile content, the gameplay is fresh and interesting, with a few novel takes on turn-based tactics that I think will provide an excellent foundation to for this game to develop into a real mainstay of the TBT genre with continued support from the developers (who so far are incredibly active and responsive to feedback). Every Day We Fight is a tactical roguelite that immediately distinguishes itself through its haunting premise and unusual blend of genres. + Very high quality XCom style gameplay. I have really enjoyed my time with the game. - Short - Very short. - Too easy. I've only died once while I was figuring the controls out. The enemies are easy to crowd-control and their hitpoint/armour/shield pools are they only challenge. - The heat mechanic maxes out too soon and there are too few fights for it to actually matter. I appreciate what's done differently from similar games like XCOM and even Phoenix Point, but it really feels like the entire game is Act 1 of a properly sized campaign. The Timeloop gimmick feels under-utilized, but I also didn't lose any fights out in the world so it might've been more useful then. I was looking forward to a…

Finished "Every Day We Fight", I'd say it was a solid C-tier game, worth the $30 price tag! Thank you to @auvenil.bsky.social, @beowulfhunter.bsky.social, @ariastarlight000.bsky.social and @muselia.bsky.social for the raids! We're raiding @baphythesapphy.vtubers.social who's playing Hades 2!

I hope @hoodedhorse.bsky.social checks their social media. I'd love to discuss some of the things that could be improved about Every Day We Fight. It's a great game that's bogged down by one or two issues I'd love to see fixed

Some nice innovations here for long-time turn-based tactics gamers. Extensive customisability. For example, if you should want to slow down the post first shot scramble by enemies (because, say, you don't like action or FPS games), you can, and that de-emphasises the action aspect somewhat. As someone who doesn't play FPS, I found the real time aiming to be just a bit of real time action that adds some spice without it adding too strong of an action/FPS element. Nice graphics. Version 1.0…

Here's another Valkyria Chronicles-inspired tactics game (in early access) that's both undersold and underrated. Every Day We Fight is squad action-tactics stuck in a time-loop, where successful missions unlock new areas of the city, objectives and increase enemy presence. It is not XCom.

Great idea and rather good for Alpha. Combat is just not-XCom-enough to be good, has it's own tricks and is very enjoyable. The plot is straightforward, but nice, especially for Arc One of Alpha. Now to sad stuff. Almost all loot can only be found in Act 3, when the team gets both the darts and the teleporter, which makes looking for the loot a bit frustrating in the first two acts. At least, warn the player: there's almost no reason to go into buildings unless you have both items. At the…

An engaging and fun spin on tactics games! Every Day we Fight's combat system gets rid of much of the randomness I found in other tactics game (you ain't missing a 90% shot here) and replaces it a more visceral and action-oriented mechanics. That's not to say a healthy amount of randomness isn't here - enemies can be unpredictable (in a good way) and will definitely challenge you, and the battles rarely play out the same way twice. The aiming and shot placement mechanics add a cool new edge to…

I love the combat. I love the skill trees. I hate the movement puzzles with teleporter/darts. I've basically stopped playing at the ACT 2 prison because there is a movement puzzle that involves tons of back tracking, lots of "the teleporter SHOULD work here, but doesn't", etc. Once these are fixed, more clear, etc. - I'll come back. I've still got very high hopes for the game (hence the positive review).
