Many players find Flower a beautiful and relaxing experience that helps with anxiety and stress. [1][2][3] A few players note the game is short and best enjoyed on sale or on PlayStation. [4][5][6]

This is less a true "Don't recommend" and more a "neutral, buy on discount if you like the visuals" review. Its a visually pretty experience, i like the musical of the flowers and the overall textless style of the game. Unfortunately, just about everything else kinda sucks. The movement was clearly designed for a special type of controller, and both mouse/keyboard or a generic controller are not great for movement, …

15+ years later, still great. I used to play this over and over to help ease my anxiety and depression. I also forced all of my equally anxious and depressed friends to come to my house to play it. Now I just have these nice memories of sitting on my couch with friends, drinking tea, playing Flower. I feel like we could really use a Flower 2. Unfortunately, this isn’t a great PlayStation port. On boot, the grass …

This is an extraordinary experience. Note experience and not game. The first time I played this game, I zipped about. Flowers bloomed and I was like "So, what is the fuss about". I saw the beauty and sound and graphics but thought, "there really is not much here". The second time was following the death of my mother. As the head of house I believed I had a responsibility to the family to manage my grief. At night, …

Flower is one of those games you play when you just want to relax and vibe for a while. Flying through the air while controlling petals feels incredibly smooth, and the soundtrack combined with the visuals creates a really calming atmosphere. There’s barely any traditional “gameplay,” but the short experience is memorable and beautiful.

Very chill game, fun for achievements too. From someone who normally plays competitive games that make me wanna rip the hair out of my scalp, this is a breath of fresh air. Now I can finally touch grass.

Critics, per Wikipedia
Flower was well received by critics. Alice Liang of 1UP.com applauded the game, saying that "the freedom of movement makes the game feel as relaxing as a gently wafting breeze". She felt that "fun" did not fully describe the game experience, saying that it had a "well-constructed movie's emotional arc" and that the game's music, visuals, and gameplay all drew the player into a compelling emotional experience. She also felt that it was very replayable, which offset its brevity. Ryan Clements of IGN agreed with Liang's opinion, saying that it provided "more enjoyment, emotion and enlightenment than any game" he had played in years. Though he noted that the game would not appeal to everyone,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought Flower because it was on sale and I figured it was, you know, a game. Turns out it’s more of a lifestyle choice. There are no enemies. You just float around as the wind collecting flowers like you’re doing yard work for nature itself. At some point I realized I was trying really hard to make a “good” gust of wind and that’s when I knew something had gone wrong. The game looks nice and the music is relaxing, which is dangerous because it tricks you into caring. I caught myself…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, here's the thing. I love this game. Have for a while. It's perfectly atmospheric, controls are simple and intuitive, and I enjoyed every moment with the breathtaking, yet simplistic graphics. The sound design is the highlight of this game, headphones HIGHLY recommended. However, I played on PS3. I don't know what's wrong with this version, I'm not a game biologist, but it just doesn't run right. A game that ran perfectly fine on a console from 2006 should be a piece of cake for any…

Awful controls, bad performance, music suddenly stopping, and the random crashes. I don't know how this plays on the PlayStation, but I wouldn't recommend playing it on PC until they properly port it.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a horrible port to the PC. Ive played with the settings and mixed and matched to see what worked, and it still made no difference in the gameplay. Horrible camera angles and choppy 5-8 frames per second. Visualizations followed by constant wind sounds that dont match the gameplay. Horrific steering and visual clutter makes it hard to navigate. If you play on controller, expect massive input delays. - As it stands it technically unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately the performance is poor and the game has visual and audio issues. There is a constant fighting with the camera and the game wrestles control away way too often. At the end of the day there simply isn't much to the game so all those issues aren't something that can just be tolerated.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a very beautiful and slightly liminal art style with interesting and fun level designs, but i do have one complaint which is that the camera controlling in this game is some of the worst i've ever experienced in my time on steam, so goodluck to whoever is trying to 100% this game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get this game on PlayStation. I've played this game on playstation many years ago. It was one of my favorite indie games, and better than a similar game like journey in my opinion. I picked it up on PC but the controls don't transfer well using mouse and keyboard. The main appeal of the game is the unique controls that connect you to the gusts of wind and the petals. It feels a lot more clunky on PC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a beautiful, enjoyable, relaxing experience. and yet I can't say I recommend it because of how poorly this port is made. If it works, it works. But I have the audio constantly cutting in and out, and sometimes it's a black screen with audio. Sometimes not.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game because of nostalgia of when i played it on PS3 and after all it wasn't even a bad experience, just a bit plain, BUT MAN IF I CAN'T FINISH THE GAME BECAUSE IT KEEPS CRASHING DURING END CREDITS IT'S A BIT TOO MUCH and kinda sad cuz i wanted this platinum but as for now it's literally impossible Fixed by disabling the v-sync!! But in any case, I won't change the outcome of my review
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself is good, but there are issues with performance, achievements, and crashes. The game is not polished; it was released 'as is'.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most chill games you can ever play with really gorgeous visuals! Even more enjoyable at a very high refresh rate! (480hz, but I had around 240+fps) Warning for: 1. People with high fps - Limit your fps to 60 when you reach the credits to avoid crashes. 2. Black pre-rendered cutscenes - Disable fullscreen optimizations.
