neutral · AI labelView post →I'm surprised Fort Solis is still so unknown. The shop tags "cinematic" and "thrilling" suit the gameplay perfectly. Fort Solis is a story-driven thriller. You'll have to walk a lot from point A to point B and read a whole collection of notes while proceeding through the chapters. If you just skip everything because you are waiting for the game to "start" and don't wanna spend time on reading notes, Fort Solis might not be the right game for you. For anyone who loves thrillers, slowly…

neutral · AI labelView post →Another tiresome waste of time that attempts too hard to be a movie. From the sterile designs of quarters and labs to the utilitarian look of engineering/linking corridor sections the visuals are pleasing to look at, but exploring feels tedious as hell because of sluggish walking speed the game forces on its players. There is a sprint function, but the "sprint" of this game is the same slowed down walking but played at 2x speed which barely equals to the normal walking speed of other games. It…

positive · AI labelView post →An exploration heavy walking simulator with a science fiction horror theme. Sounds great right, well, about that... You play as two (one at a time,) grease monkeys working on repairs to some machinery on the surface of Mars when you receive a distress signal from a nearby facility that you thought had been put out of commission long ago, let the spookiness commence... at least if you can ignore the jokey dialog. The game opens up with some really cringey banter between our main character A…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The visuals and audio are fantastic. A well-designed sci-fi world that manages to look fresh. The story uses the thick atmosphere that the game creates well, especially if you're going in cold and have no idea where it could even be going. Sadly, the finale doesn't hit, and the many loose ends left me underwhelmed with its conclusion. With all that said, I want to see more from this studio - they clearly have immense talent! I wish them all the best for their next game; I'll be playing again.

neutral · AI labelView post →Fort Solis is the kind of game where I already know it’s not going to offer much in terms of gameplay, and that’s fine. But even with that mindset, I genuinely never felt like I was playing a game at any point. It is so on-rails that it honestly might have been more interesting as a straight-up animated film. The voice cast is really good, and the graphics are definitely one of the stronger parts, but I can’t say the same for the story. The beginning sets up a solid mystery and a nice bit of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The main critique I have seen about this game is that it's largely just walking around and interacting with items for several hours-- featuring a few rather inconsequential QTEs. However, I personally am AWFUL at most video games that require any amount of actual skill, so I was drawn to this game instead of repelled. The graphics, story, and voice acting are all wonderful. It's very atmospheric, and feels very lived-in. For a game that usually goes for $20-$30 on here, I'd say it's more than…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The dialogue is good, but that's about it. The game, if you can call it that, is a walking simulator and even that is done badly with the horrible controls and camera placement. The main character moves like a heavy truck on ice spinning out of control. The quick time events are way to important and impact the outcome of the story. The time window that you as a player get to actual press the buttons is really short in some scenarios. This game is not worth even on a huge sale, save yourself…

Fort Solis from Fallen Leaf and Black Drakkar games is a game that is clearly trying to punch above its weight using the ever so versatile Unreal Engine 5. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fort Solis feels more like an interactive sci-fi movie than a traditional game. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and performances , The setting is tense and immersive, and the visuals are genuinely impressive. That said, it’s very slow and light on gameplay, so if you’re looking for deep mechanics you might be disappointed. Overall, it’s a solid, moody experience that’s best played in one sitting if you’re in the mood for story over action.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(No spoilers) I will give this a game a positive review, but, with several caveats. The good? Graphics, voice acting, story (mostly). Graphics: Beautiful environments, awesome lighting, really builds tension. Voice acting: Brilliantly done, really sells the story. Story: Most of the story? Loved it. The build up, the several plot points being added and expanded, very well done. The bad? Controls, length, story (ending). Controls: If you want to play this game, use a controller! Do not try…

I played and finished The Door in the Basement, Still Wakes the Deep, and The Invincible one after another. And I loved all three of them for different reasons. The Door in the Basement has some amazing sub-text if you're paying attention, and indeed I were. Still Wakes the Deep is an emotional roller-coaster with great characters. And The Invincible is...…

neutral · AI labelView post →Not really a walking simulator, it's a trudging, plodding, slogging, tramping, trekking, lumbering, skulking, limping, meandering, scuffing simulator. A threadbare story held together with duck tape and a weak payoff. Beat the game, but there's no way I'm going back into this to hoover up the collectibles I missed. The artists and voice actors were doing some heavy lifting here. Get on sale only, if you must
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fort Solis is a slow-burn sci-fi thriller that relies more on atmosphere than action. Set on a remote Mars mining base, the game builds tension through isolation, strong voice acting, and impressive visual detail. The performances — especially during quieter moments — help sell the feeling that something is very wrong long before the story fully reveals itself. However, the experience can feel a bit too passive at times. Exploration is often limited to walking and observing, and the pacing may…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The review bombing is from a player base that was expecting more interactive gameplay, that aped into buying it thinking it was dead space 2.0. To be clear, I am not the most patient player on the planet. To me, the pace of Fort Solis is what sets the atmosphere up perfectly, it's slow, it's brooding, the tension builds going into chapter 3, where you start to make sense of what's going on. Chapter 4 could have had more substance to it, but it ends in 1 of 2 ways, and the post credits add an…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To be honest, it’s quite a good film, because you can’t really call it a game in the full meaning of the word. It’s a production that’s just right for one or two sittings. It’s only a pity that in the final chapter, despite the update, you can still encounter optimization issues. Among the more pleasant elements, it’s worth pointing out that the game practically has no cuts. Everything was made in the form of just two shots (so with only one cut), which makes the experience very smooth and…

But they will open when the narrative calls for it. Big plus on eye candy throughout the game. Walking control was clunky A-F. QTEs are basically impossible and really badly timed/warned about. This has been mentioned in reviews and on forum repeatedly with no feedback from…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally finished, Fort Solis! Even though the game is only 3 hours long, i really enjoyed it quite a lot. The story and the cast were just amazing, especially Troy Baker, Rodger Clarke and Julia brown. My final verdict i would give the game 8/10 and definitely recommend it if you haven't played it.

I clinged to the hope througout the game that it would makle sense at the end or at least feel a bit rewarding but I got completely disappointed, it was the worst story I ever experienced in a video game so far. Luckily, I got all archivememts in the first run, so I can now happily uninstall this game and never install it again. Gameplay was ok, also it being a "walking simulator" was no problem for me…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the graphics, assets, incredible. the premise, hooked me the gameplay? missing. Camera and Movement controls are horrendous, This should have been an animated movie. the narrative intialy rewards you engagement but falls apart by the end, unsatisifing final 'chapter'
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did not like the open ending. The rest of the game felt incomplete. There wasn’t enough explanation for what was going on. I felt like I wasted my time. I was intrigued because I thought the story would go somewhere interesting, but it never did. The voice acting was the only good part.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a purely narrative game this does the only thing it NEEDED to do poorly - tell a coherent and engaging story. The plot is a mess, the stakes are poorly explained and several plot threads in the audio logs and videos are not fully explored. It's a shame really, because the visuals look great, the acting from the leads is great and the premise seemed super interesting, but it's let down by poor overall writing. This could have been so much better with a decent story.

positive · AI labelView post →I dont mind it be a walking sim but I hate how this title had zero QA or focus groups. -Character fills TOO much of the sceen. -Characters fast walk is still far too slow. As one user said, its like controlling a pregnant snail. -White screen bug on all video logs and dont play (common issue as seen in disc threads). Ive tried two fixes and neither work. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good graphics and performance captures. Other than that very subpar linear walking simulator. There are no puzzles or such. The only real obstacles during the gameplay are locked doors that have the keys to them literally sitting next to them. Story starts interesting, but it’s trivial to figure it out and there is no elaborate depth to it. The impressively slow character walking speed will be the only thing you will remember about this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think that they had a bigger story planned and maybe due to budget they had to shorten the game. Either that or they thought an ambiguous ending was clever. Its not. its just frustrating which made me feel like i wasted my time playing the game. game looked great, ran great, voice acting was really good and up until the stupid ambiguous ending i was enjoying it, which is why i'm down voting it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright, so I had this game on my radar for some time now. After playing all the way through it, and unlocking all achievements along the way, I can now tell you what I think about it. The gameplay in Fort Solis consists of exploring the science station with the same name on planet Mars, gathering information (via datasticks and computers), solving little puzzles and listening to dialogues. The game is very lean in terms of mechanics: there is no inventory (except for an archive for found…

The characters are absolute clichés. The „banter“ is groan-worthy and the writing is really not great. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The sort of game that gives walking simulators a bad name. Such high production values, all in service of nothing. There's initial intrigue, but it goes nowhere. Then a few hours of wandering around not doing much, then it ends. When the game ended, I had little clue what had happened. Looked it up and it seems like that's about the experience everyone else had. If you're looking for a ~3 hour narrative, there are hundreds of better indie games on the scene. Avoid.

I enjoyed the game, It definitely feels like more of a movie playing out. Very slow, very narrative. Now, the game in general is good. A good horror/mystery. I enjoy the writing for 90% of the game, the banter between Jess and Jack is fun and actually seems like two friends chatting on the job, and the mystery itself is interesting, trying to figure out what went wrong in the facility. However, like most of these types of games do, it falls flat at…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fort Solis is a short (~4 hour) sci-fi narrative thriller set on Mars that sits comfortably in the walking simulator genre. You play as Jack Leary who responds to a distress call from a nearby mining station, only to find it eerily abandoned. Think Firewatch but on Mars, in third person, with a budget that somehow looks triple-A. This should have been a movie/show, not a game. What the Game Does Well The production values are genuinely stunning. Built in Unreal Engine 5, the lighting,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short story game that is easy to follow. You are unable to run, but you can speed walk. When taking sharp turns, you can get stuck on things. The game doesn't hold your hand, but the world is small enough to explore without getting lost. It feels like there was a lot of passion put into this game. So I would love to see more of this universe.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So i don't really mind games that lack gameplay in favour of storytelling (i think the invincible was great), but despite great visuals, voice acting and absolutely genius sound design For Solid was a disappointment for me. Story was fine but not particularly great for the most part, but did a nice job creating the mystery, but the final chapter was just absolutely sloppy and moronic, with easily avoidable deaths and injuries, not mentioning a guy walking on the surface of mars in a suit that…

Unfortunately, that’s pretty much where the praise ends, because everything else falls flat. The story starts off interesting and I was intrigued by the mystery. However, by the time the game ended, I was still wondering what the actual point of all those build-up and mystery was, since barely anything gets properly explained. And this is coming from someone who read every file, listened to every audio log, and…
