I really, really wanted to like Frostpunk 2. “A wider, bigger Frostpunk 1” sounded great, even if it wasn’t trying to be the same game. And it doesn’t have to be. The problem is that in chasing “bigger and better,” it feels like the high-detail focus that made Frostpunk 1 hit got lost. You’re much more zoomed out this time. Frostpunk 2. I read the reviews and almost didn’t buy it. With all the complaints, I expected a disaster. I’m glad I ignored them. Do NOT expect a “better Frostpunk 1.” This is important. The EULA states that they collect you personal information and IP address in order to profile you, and they can share that profile data with whoever they want. I recommend you avoid this title and everything else by 11bit going forward, I know I will.

I held off on my review in case some improvements were made but the changes haven't addressed any of my issues so here we go. Like many I wanted to like this game so bad, but it just didn't do anything for me. The only appeal was that it was riding off the Frostpunk vibe, which it nails, but the gameplay just can't keep up. All the resources function basically the same, so every time there's a change in the weather or you build a new district you just have to rebalance half a dozen sliders and…

I LOVED Frostpunk 1, and I think that's what made me dislike Frostpunk 2. Fans of the original game were not the target audience for it's sequel. Where Frostpunk 1 was a citybuilder, Frostpunk 2 is more of a government management game. You might enjoy it, I don't think it's an awful game and I wish there was a "meh" option I could leave instead of thumbs down. But if you're like me and enjoyed the original and are looking for more, it isn't here.

TLDR: Buy this game on sale and don't give a single penny more for additional content until 11 Bit proves they deserve it by giving FP2 players genuine narrative content rather than endless 'Endless Mode' updates. I never write reviews. And I wish I could continue that streak, but I can't stay silent. I dedicated over 200 hours to Frostpunk 1. Frostpunk 2 is dramatically different from the first game - both philosophically and mechanically. For me, that shift didn’t work. What I loved about the original Frostpunk was its hands-on, ground-level approach. You were directly managing the city’s immediate needs: heat, food, housing. Politics existed, but they felt grounded - policies were about survival and maintaining order in a settlement (not civilization). The scale was human. In Frostpunk 2, the focus shifts toward high-level…

But I just don't feel like playing this game again. I've been very very dissapointed when figuring the whole deal about this is just smashing districts everywhere. Frostpunk 2 feels overambitious in how it wanted to expand the functions of Frostpunk 1 and ended up with poor execution. The game does not gradually introduce elements to you, ala 1, but instead throws everything at you at once with low to no tutorialization. For beginners the game also sort of feels like it punishes your for exploration and experimentation and seems to expect you to follow an invisible golden route in order to succeed. Would reccomend Frostpunk 1.

Frostpunk 1 is one of my favorite games ever made. Frost punk 2, was a game that I thought I'd love, however I've only come to dislike key aspects of it the longer I play it. The way that faction interactions are managed, combined with forced events, ultimately makes the game simply un-fun. As an example from my last playthrough, I had 'revered'(maximum) trust status, and complete satisfaction among the various factions present. Then the scripted event triggers, and suddenly I'm in an outright…

Frostpunk 2 trades the first game’s intimate survival tension for a detached, macro-scale political simulation. By replacing individual citizens with abstract "Districts" and constant faction bickering, the game loses its emotional soul and feels more like managing a cold spreadsheet than leading a desperate struggle for humanity.

The game is fun but is completely ruined by the extremely accurate politics system. And by "extremely accurate" I mean if the faction does not get there way they cry and throw a tantrum and disrupt everything causing everyone to suffer because they have such extremist views, basically like real life I am trying to avoid!

This isn't a frostpunk. It's a strategy game, sure, a city builder, sure, but not frostpunk. Probably the only actual good addition to the game is the parliament system. It can be interesting to balance the factions and so on. But for the love of god, why do we have +20 food instead of the total amount? What was so wrong about the first game's economy tab, where the game counts how many days of food you have and showed you the total amount in the main UI? Why are we building districts now? How…

The game is fun and all, but the optimal meta is quite obvious, reducing the challenge. More importantly, despite me doing everything perfectly and managing to have all 3 factions opinion of me at the highest level, the game had a hard trigger of discontent purely for narrative... From praising me like I'm a god to rebellion in a few days for no actual reason... Makes me feel like min-maxing (the whole point of a strategy) is useless.

Where the first game emphasized immediate life-or-death decisions, Frostpunk 2 explores the complexities of long-term governance, ideology, resource management, and societal conflict. The result is a deeper and more ambitious experience, though one that may not appeal to everyone who loved the original. I really like how the studio was not afraid to make their sequel unique from the first game. Its designed around the story: We survived the apocalypse, now what? The material conditions allow this society to be less authoritarian and more democratic. Factions with competing ideologies emerge. I loved the first Frostpunk. So when I acquired Frostpunk 2, my first reaction was very mild. I tried it a couple hours and quit. Then I came back 5 months later, and I can't stop playing. Yes the level of control is less micro, here we step at a much higher level of a nation building with one central city cannibalizing all possible resources. My tip for former players of Frostpunk: get away from it for a few months, then try Frostpunk 2, you'll adopt it with the same fervor you had for the…

This is my update as of Utopia. I loved the original Frostpunk. That game told a wonderful, terrible story of a city and a generator fighting to survive on the edge of night and cold. It was the story of a captain, and of his crew. It was a story of drama and blood and ice and coal. Frostpunk 2 is different. It is not Frostpunk 1. Mixed feeling about this one. If you're really into traditional city-sim games, you'll probably like this. If you really like *Frostpunk* specifically, you might not. I don't think a direct sequel was the play. In the process of expanding upon the original IP, it loses most of what made it unique. The sense of urgency, dread, and claustrophobia are all-but-gone; what you get is a game that has the same dressings, but none of the soul.

In my opinion, they misunderstood what made the original Frostpunk amazing. I loved that game. I feel like they wanted to heavily push replayability in this game. It does NOT work for me. In the original, I loved the handcrafted, well designed stories. You had very specific goals, with story driven events that felt meaningful. If my citizens died, I gave a ♥♥♥♥. While I think the game has largely improved since launch, it doesn't quite retain the feel of the original. Then there's the artificial challenge where you would have factions throw tantrum proteests simply because they want to. People in real life don't protest when they're well fed and have a luxurious life. And how is a small percentage of the total population able to shut the whole city down? Lastly, why the hell are there save slot limits in a PC game?

The game looks great and has a lot of depth, but once you start playing you notice things that just kill the vibe. Managing factions sounds cool, but most of the time they just sit there arguing for ages while you watch progress bars crawl, and even when you make a decision it often changes almost nothing in the short term. It’s stressful, punishing, and somehow addicting. Think of it as leadership training, but for the end of the world. The game offers a different take on Frostpunk world and has decent gameplay. It is easier than FP1, or I guess more "accessible". You no longer have to contol single peasants (who manage to randomly die on a 10 meter stroll to infirmary, or get stuck on some task and refuse to get treated) but city blocks. The change is less irritating than I thought, so it's not really a negative. Gameplay is engaging enough and the factions now have a truly unique twist to them. The council is less annoying…

This is a very interesting game that, unfortunately, I just can't seem to get the hang of. Compared to the first game, Frostpunk 2 has grown tremendously in scale - both in terms of budget and gameplay. The series has retained its distinctive visual identity, but now it also features a much stronger presentation and cinematic flair. As a result, it no longer feels like an indie project. The increased scope is noticeable in every aspect of the game. While the map is still built around…

After this game, I played Frostpunk 2 and Alan Wake 2. It clearly wasn't the same atmosphere lol Every evening, I was happy to get back into my Trailblazer. No stress, just a fun adventure on which the fate of the galaxy doesn't depend. And that's really cool.

After four hours I realized I can't do this game. I liked the first game, but this one just isn't fun. The game fights you in trying to build anything. Not enough people to build new housing. What? Okay then you get enough people (from overpopulation) and you run out of another resource. Then you realize the only way to get the resources is to explore the other maps. Then you find resources, but yep you guessed it you don't have the 20 explorers to activate the resource. For that you need…

Reviewing (mostly) every game (or DLC) in my library, part 692: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (10/10) MILF (Man, I Love Frostpunk.) No, seriously, though, I'm shocked at the Mostly Positive reviews. To me, Frostpunk 2 ("FP2") is a bigger, bolder, and better game than Frostpunk 1 ("FP1"), and it might already be propelled to one of my favorite games in the resource management/city builder genre. I'm so glad I ignored the negative reviews, and I don't know why people think the devs have abandoned what…

I loved the original Frostpunk. I got to do the first public testing and I was so confused having no clue what they did in FP2. However, the changes they've made since then have made it more and more addicting for me. I want more content since I've finished the original content a lot time ago. I have a friend who hates it and I don't understand. Once I started understanding how the mechanics worked, I fell in love with this one too. Waaay more complicated than the first, but I still enjoy it.…

I didn't like the game at first as it felt so different to the first one... But my Gods I feel sad and stunned now that I finally finished it on my third (second? Not sure.) playthrough. The soundtrack, the emotions, they're so powerful. Please never change the games you make, 11 bit studios. Whilst I still hope for a co-op game one day, where each has their own city/colonies and you can trade, this is simply utterly amazing and I cannot wait to see what's next.

I’ve played FP1 for over 500 hours, so I really wanted to love FP2, but honestly, it’s just meh. They should have called it something else entirely, because the resemblance to the first game mostly stops at the name. Yes, it has the same frozen world and the same general survival idea, but the actual gameplay is completely different. The mechanics, pacing, decision-making and overall atmosphere do not hit the same way. What made the first Frostpunk so gripping was the constant pressure. Every…

It is more of a political strategy game than survival compared to the first one. It still does what it wants to do greatly. Story is good but a bit detached - you do not feel like you are in it like in the first game. Management gameplay is, of course, amazing. There is a good chance I will play the story mode again in higher difficulties in the future.

It's just addicting, once I opened it I didn't realize I was playing for 6 hours already and had to stop myself once I remembered it was almost Christmas lmao.

Personal Rating: Very Positive (90%) Probably the most difficult city-builder that I own, and I like it. You are given this central city in the middle of frozen nowhere that you need to keep afloat - and that's DEFINITELY better said than done, because you have to think about habitations, food, temperature, research and otber stuff that complicates your life. The main thing is the Weather. From my observations, it will rarely get better by temps, and only get worse as time progresses.…

Too many bugs and glitches still in the game after all this time. I literally softlocked myself in the story for playing "too good". Unless the devs care to patch their game Im not recommending this to anybody.
