What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 204 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (12,680 of 14,099 positive).
Players praise the game's soundtrack, art style, and tight combat. [1][2][3] Some find the difficulty rewarding, while others criticize repetitive gameplay. [4][5][6] A few reviewers note issues with certain boss fights and unskippable walking segments. [7][8][9]

Bought it because of the music. About 10 repetitive fights where you need to time parries and other two or three abilities. It was interesting at first but got tiring really fast since you mostly have to wait for bosses to do the same attacks over and over. Gameplay LOOKS fast on videos, but it's not. I sincerely prefer something with more agency.

PEAK boss rush game with most fun parry mechanic ever exist (ancestor of the SEKIRO) with legendary synthwave OSTs (shout out to Toxic Avenger and Carpenter Brut). This game alone shaped my love towards souls games and bullethell genre along with music preferences. Also so much patience against 6 phased bosses with most of them having ranged and close-quarter combat scenes. 10/10 would play again in 2036

imma be real this game really is amazing and you should play it, but the true final boss genuily is one of the worst most boring fights ive ever expreienced and its genuily awful, i wish the devs could see my comment cause this game is a 8/10 soley because that final boss is so awful, it would be a 10 without it, i seriously hope whoever designed that piece of **** never finds work in the industry again. the music, …

An all-killer-no-filler boss rush with punishing yet fair difficulty and a phenomenal soundtrack. It even has a pretty interesting story to go with it. Combat gives you a limited yet finely tuned combo of attacks, dodging, blocking/parrying, and shooting. Each boss fight is clearly designed to test at least one of those mechanics almost to its limit. It does take a lot of practice and the difficulty may be a bit …

Do you want a cool game, with cool characters, and cool music, that make you feel cool? This is it.

86% of the 204 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Furi. The complaint that keeps coming up: some boss fights are tedious or frustrating. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Furi received "generally favorable" reviews according to review aggregator platform Metacritic. James Davenport of PC Gamer gave it an 86 out of 100, claiming it "is only held back by rare bugs and poorly designed difficulty spikes." Jeff Marchiafava of Game Informer gave it a 6 out of 10, citing a lack of engagement in the environment and unforgiving difficulty, although user reviews on platforms such as Steam have been far more positive.

The FF7 one ranks very high, but I would say it's that one from the game Furi because I'm a sucker for synthwave and games that blend their fight with the music rhythm. What's yours? youtu.be/8QpUGCXwOks?...
positive · AI labelView post →I think that if you really insist on having non-combat downtime in your melee action game, that Furi had the right idea: do away with the inane filler puzzles and let the player walk around a pretty landscape at their own leisure. Give me vistas and strolling instead of box puzzles. Give me Nothing
positive · AI labelView post →For the last decade you’ve shared your speedruns, your fan art, and your memories of the game with us. Thank you for fighting for freedom in Furi for ten years. Here’s to ten more. We hear thunder. Pitter patter.
neutral · AI labelView post →Indie game checkpoint! Furi will always be my first pick for my favourite indie game. I love everything about it! Especially the OST!!!

neutral · AI labelView post →So per a friend's recommendation, I played through an indie game called Furi (and finished it tonight). *That was sick.*
positive · AI labelView post →Played and finished Minishoot Adventures and I highly recommend it! It's a bit like Zelda meet Furi: exploration + dual stick shooter. Very chill, extremely well paced. Great controls, legibility, level design... I could dream of this game with a "Furi" package (character, art, music, story...).

neutral · AI labelView post →As with one of their previous titles, Furi, I liked the idea of Cairn WAY more than actually playing it. But I think the biggest praise I can give it is I think it’s the perfect game for NorthernLion to just go on a deranged 15 minute rant about oysters on.
neutral · AI labelView post →Do you want a cool game, with cool characters, and cool music, that make you feel cool? This is it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really happy to see Cairn getting love. Haven was really cool, and i still think Furi is incredibly slept on in modern discourse. Game Bakers has been doing some rad stuff, can't wait to play this one.

Furi is an excellent game that does well with what little it has on display, so I'm going to discuss its fantastic collection of boss battles. positive · AI labelView post →Pretty fun game for $2 sale. Pure boss rush style with bit of frustrating game design for certain stages. Some bosses are pretty challenging but expected it to be way harder after reading bad reviews stating it's too difficult.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →played a little bit of cairn tonight and loving it!!! really loved the game bakers' Furi and I think it's tapping a lot into the more hardcore sensibilities of that game but in a very different way and in a very different flavor

neutral · AI labelView post →Playing Nine Sols and liking it so far, thought a part of me almost wishes it was a boss rush game like Furi. The parry-focused combat system is exhilarating when you parry attacks from a boss twice as big as you, but is way less fun when you're in a corridor fighting multiple small enemies at once
neutral · AI labelView post →Probably one of my favorite indie games of all time. Such a beautiful artstyle, story, music and gameplay. I love coming back to Furi every now and then and experiencing it again. I do hope they make another game like this even if it isn't a sequel
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went into Furi knowing that I liked the style and visuals I saw of the game from the trailer/screenshots. Visually the game is very nice to look at and the character designs I have encountered were also great. I also came in full well knowing it was a bullet-hell, boss rush game, and the game succeeds at being that. The music is also decent for the first two bosses I did but that's all I can speak on, I have not heard the rest. However, from a gameplay perspective, personally I cannot…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually played furi demake first, the little pixelated retro version that came out after the original had a blast with it. The transition from demake's pixel art to this colorful game style was wild it's one of those games where losing doesn't feel frustrating because you know you can do better next try, loved it

Ultimately a boss rush, the periods in between bosses hold just as much weight despite just walking forward. Time to take in calm sights, music, and story before stepping into yet another deadly storm.
