No disrespect to those that have played and loved the lineage of the games, it is upon those recommendations that I made the purchase. However as a new initiate to this game, the characters, and the intended play style it is just too much for me and frankly, far too difficult to give me the enjoyment I want out of a platformer. I have always considered myself a good platformer, going right back to the NES days and …

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is without a doubt one of the best things to come out of the great retro platformer deluge, which began somewhere around the release of Super Meat Boy. This is the game to buy if you want to try GTSD, but aren't keen on shelling out a whole $15. It's a shorter game, you can complete the easiest setting in just an hour, but Black Forest Games put more effort into the level design this time around, so there's enough here to whet your appetite.

I was a North American kid who grew up without an NES, and for this reason, I have a different perspective on retro video games. The common narrative in retro gaming circles is that the NES was everywhere—that it was totally dominant, and if you didn’t own one, you missed out. After completing literally everything this game has to offer, Hard difficulty,Hardcore Mode, Über Hardcore Mode, Time Attack, Score Attack and all Achievements I can safely say that this is a really fun platformer. This is a stand-alone expansion / DLC that adds 7 levels and does not require the base game to be able to play. I would really recommend starting off on hard difficulty, normal mode just makes the levels so much easier that it's barely a challenge. Completing hard difficulty took…

The Euro platformer revival that almost happened. When I was 10 years old, a friend and I went into the forest and started digging. Now, the exact reason why we were digging escapes me. But we often did a lot of digging. Kids—particularly boys—like to dig. It's just fun. Started with sandboxes. But we decided to move further afield. And there we were with our big shovels, just digging a hole. Four feet in, we found something. A shoe. One with a bright red high heel, to be…

Wait for a price drop in the $3.00 range; it's a good game, and has much better stage design than the first Giana Sisters on Steam, but it's only 7 stages long, including the boss stage.

Another short but sweet action platformer with tight controls and solid mechanics. Has a world shifting mechanics to make things even more interesting. The stages are well designed and provide a fun challenge. The art style is nice and the music is pretty chill. Great level of quality especially for a cheap $5 game!

While the core of the game has the Kaizo ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ removed which ruined the first game, the final boss fight is just awful due to its wonky hitbox. The devs keep getting so close to making a great platformer and then just utterly ♥♥♥♥ the bed at the last second every time.

Consider this an expansion pack, not a full-fledged title. Gameplay remains exactly the same, so look at my old review if you want a rundown of it. Otherwise, if you liked the first one I suggest purchasing this as well. There are 10 levels, but they're much longer than before. The music's new, so there's no rehashing there. There's really not much to say that I didn't already say in my review of the first title. It's a comptetent indie platformer that doesn't do what others do and go for…

I love this game! The art makes it a wonderful place to spend some time. Add to that the fun twisting-musical score and you are instantly transported into a world that is worth investing some time in. And, do plan on investing some time because make not mistake, this is a challenging game! As a fan of the old-style Sonic games, I was in platformer heaven! The price is extremely reasonable, and that gameplay itself is responsive, logical and, most importantly, fun! I recommended it!

Basically this game is DLC for the core game, and it is really hard to recommend for two reasons. One: It is a poorly optimized game. Two: The game physics need a lot of work. For example the hit detection is off, you may or not hit the target, you may even orbit around the target for a second instead when you dash towards them. Jumping feels odd, a high jump may land you where you want one out of five tries. The game itself is really short, and it is on the price range of at least 5 better…

Nintendo is infamously litigious and basically always has been; in 1987 they threatened to sue the developers of The Great Giana Sisters for publishing a game that wasn't dissimilar to Super Mario Bros. This standalone DLC is so much different from the base game, for the better, in my opinion. Besides having, and re-using enemies and level elements (as expected) it builds very nicely on the pirate owl theme with flying ships. Instead of manoeuvring between countless spikes and minute-long elevator runs dodging enemies and even more spikes, this game leans quite heavily into the world-shifting aspect. The ships have cannons that fire different coloured bullets that you can avoid by switching…

I love that Nintendo didn't even take any real legal action just a "c'mon man what are you doing" letter, with the good ending that eventually Giana Sisters would be rebooted starting as a DS game and now on like everything including Switch
