What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 188 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (398 of 462 positive).
Players praise the game's fast-paced, fluid movement and satisfying pinball-meets-twin-stick combat. [1][2][3] Many note that the roguelite elements feel shallow, with repetitive upgrades and limited variety. [4][5][6] Some report performance issues, especially on Steam Deck, including frame drops and memory leaks. [7][8][9]

Very good game that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because of a game breaking performance issue on deck. Once you hit the final boss, it breaks - slows to 1-2 fps and you can't finish it. Do NOT buy or touch this until this problem is fixed, it cannot be completed. I'd rather not thumbs this down but I don't support products that don't work as they should.

Go Mecha Ball I tried to refund you But it turned out that I just need more of you You’re roguelike, you’re pinball, you’re robots, and guns And if Samus’s morph ball was actually fun Your bright neon sheen On an OLED screen Your combos are clean Your bosses are mean At full 90hz My battery hurts But you deserve it all

This game is criminally underrated. I find it heartbreaking for the developers to create such an awesome, unique game on their first try and it gets so little attention. Is the pinball mechanic really too niche? Its super fun (like metroid's ball mechanic, but for combat) They got almost every element of this game right! It's super polished, suuper fun and addicting gameplay loop, visual clarity in enemies and …

Imagine Sonic 3D Blast, but good. You can turn into a ball and run into enemies to get ammo, then step back and fire a few quick shots to take them down, then you're right onto the next enemy in quick succession. The controls feel great and while the camera is initially too zoomed in, you can change that in the options menu. The only two things that get me about this game is that the roguelite elements don't feel …

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, a marginal thumbs down for this mix of pinball combat and twin-stick shooting roguelite action. The good: Aesthetically pleasing. Bright and colorful, this is the kind of game you expect to find on the Switch. When you get into the zone ala Sonic, it's fun. Arenas are thoughtfully designed, for the most part. Bumping baddies off the map is the best. Good music. The meh: I wouldn't play this with a mouse and keyboard, and if you play with a controller, I hope you have a strong LEFT…

Don't expect endless replayability; I think it's a fun 8-10 hours to get achievements. Once you get into the rhythm of switching to the ball and back, the game flows really nicely; it just takes a bit of adjusting. There are a lot of unlocks that moderately change the game, but again, don't expect endless variety. Overall, a great entry into the genre that should be in your…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like an early access game, it was left in a completely broken state (it basically got 1-2 patches post release and then abandoned). It's a shame since the core gameplay is pretty good but the game is too unpolished and full of bugs. Performance is terrible, there are memory leak issues and the longer you play the more the game stutters, to the point it becomes unplayable so you constantly need to relaunch the game. Rebinding keys is broken, pressing the default key triggers both…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the concept of this game. Which is why it's so painful for me to say it absolutely fumbles the execution, and I wouldn't be able to recommend it in good faith. It's advertised as a roguelite, despite the fact that it doesn't start feeling varied until you've gotten through a good chunk of what's this game's laughable idea of meta-progression: A Gacha Machine. Now, I don't know if the Gacha is actually RNG-based or not, but its presentation does nothing to tell me that it's not,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR there is so much I did not like about my first three or so runs, and I can't play any further. First off, got to be some of the worst sound design I have ever heard. Everything sounds exactly the same, at the same volume level, and nothing sounds distinct. The obnoxiously loud rolling sounds drown out anything else important, which are all harshly pitched attack intents that hurt to listen to anyways. Music is atrocious, it just sounds like noise. Everything is generally noisy, in a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is really good mechanics and gameplaywise. Sadly it is EXTREMELY underperforming in the roguelite aspect of the game. There is almost no variety and all roguelike elements are stat increases. There isn't really a story or goal to be seen in the first run. The basecamp is basically empty. It is very easy to learn and still fun, I just can't recommend it personally since I expected more mechanics that just stat increases.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very well polished game aesthetically, and rich mechanically, but with many areas of improvement. I'll start with the obvious, the game looks and feels incredible. The creator really knows how to sell the animations and game-feel. The action is so satisfyingly punchy. A not-so-obvious area of strength for the game is the rich mechanics. You alternate between mech and ball forms, where the ball provides mobility and tackle damage, and the mech form provides access to your weapons and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The controls for this game are absolute honey and this hits all the high notes of a solid action roguelike. Let's have a quick checklist: The soundtrack - whips The controls - as stated above, honey The colors - bah god so much stimulation The art - slaps Having the option to alternate between using guns or morphing into a pinball to murder enemies (and to get ammo) - brilliant I'm going to drop a crazy amount of time into this one and even after barely an hour of play time, it's…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The movement in this game is incredibly fluid, and the graphics are gorgeous. The gameplay is pretty repetitive and the power-ups are pretty generic, but the movement is so fun that this game still stands out. Looks especially gorgeous on the Steam Deck.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I want to like this game. It just feels too clunky to play. At least on KB&M. Its a shame the game does not have a target lock system or teaches you one during the tutorial. So many times I end up over shooting what I am trying to target especially when airborne. The game is also really stingy with health and the perk that the starting character has of "gain health on charge attacks which scales of combo" is such a tiny percentage that it practically never happens and when it does…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had a ton of time on Xbox Game Pass and bought it on Steam because I wanted to play on Steam Deck (which the latest update improves the experience of!!). This is a really fun, frenetic arcade twin-stick shooter that finally answers the question: what if a Bakugan had guns?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the look and the controls. Only down side was a lack of counter play towards some enemies, as well as a lack of real difference through weapon choice on each run. I always felt I was playing the same game, and that takes away from rogue like experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really don't understand the decision of making the game into a "roguelike" when the levels and enemy spawns are 1:1 the exact same every single run. There is 0 variety in any of the runs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favourite roguelikes, the music, the arcade gameplay, the colorfull visuals, the SOUNDS oooh the SOUNDS! The game's a bit short but the replayability is MASSIVE! I haven't unlocked everything yet but man does every ability and gun make for some fun builds! (except for you quacker) there's a bunch of characters with unique stats and different starting guns/abilities that keep stuff fresh too, and the character design is extremely good! If you are into games that feel like you are in…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great..... when it runs well. Some of the notable issues I've experiences. 1) When I first spawn in the game into the main hub area with tutorial I straight up fall through the floor and am basically stuck there till I leave back to the main menu and play again (this fixes it for me). 2)I've noticed major performance impacts when there is a large amount of enemies and currency on the floor and I mean MAJOR i'd go from 120-160 fps to 60-40 fps. 3)I've also noticed that the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the idea of the game; it's cute and arcade-y with decent progression elements, and is generally fun. However, the game is horribly optimized - regardless of your hardware (I have an i7-7820x and 3080 Ti), the game will drop massive frames beyond a certain level. I can't finish the game because my FPS drops to less than 30 for long stretches of time. Until these optimization problems are fixed, it's not worth spending money on. I'm just sad it took 4 hours of experimentation to figure…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not too shabby. The pinballing controls combined with the obstacle-rich environments make for combat that rewards creative, on-the-fly thinking. The arcade-inspired visuals/effects are on point and the constant smattering of sound effects as you roll and shoot through enemies is as thematically and satisfyingly cacophonous as you’d find in an arcade. As a rogue-like however, Go Mecha Ball is a little underwhelming. Most runs are difficult to differentiate. Upgrades throughout a run largely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GMB is a very special game. It might look like a roguelike/lite but it’s really more of an arcade game with light roguelike elements. Being dropped in levels with random enemies, weapons, abilities and upgrades is all part of the game. But it’s more focused on keeping your combo max (for better currency and passive activation), efficiency, dancing around enemies and being able to do it with all the difficulty levels (there are 5 total). Finishing the game the first time is just the beginning.…

Just a chaos fest of a movement based Rogue-lite shooter. It was giving me some issues of making my eyes water like crazy, and I don't think the balacing of the game is all there (Spout kinda sucks I think). It's good. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game definitely needs more love! The game feel of this game truly is where Whale Peak Games punched above their weight class. It's snappy and so juicy, the fluid animations, the art style, everything is so polished. The incredible rolling, bouncing and blasting enemies feels weighty and intentional, not floaty like many other physics-based games. The first hour completely hooked me, and I'm already craving for the next runs. My only small gripe is the audio, while I love the atmosphere,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a great surprise find this was. I found the game searching for who-knows-what that was unrelated. Installed it on my Steam Deck and it runs fabulously (with the occasional frame stutter when things get hectic). I don't know how to explain it, but the "weight" of the characters, weapons and items in this game are up there with the best that I've played. Hitting an enemy as a ball or shooting them with one of the weapons feels like it has real impact - great job on this aspect in…

neutral · AI labelView post →I played this title on my Steam Deck since it's verified. The gamplay is phenomenal! Seriously! The devs need to build on this title and concept! Extremely fun game! What's holding "Go Mecha Ball" back, is random framerate issues that don't seem to have anything to do with the hardware the game is being played on. A few annoying bugs like the audio just completely cutting out. Also, repeatedly falling through the ground when returning to the hub after a game over can happen. Basically, a soft…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is fun, but i'm not sure i can recommend it in its current state. the gameplay is enjoyable and feels fluid, but there's too many frustrating bugs/glitches that get in the way. the biggest one is that when using keyboard and mouse, your mouse will not stay in the game window if you have multiple monitors. i can't count how many times i've accidentally dragged my mouse into my second monitor just to click and accidentally minimize the game, which does not pause the gameplay and more…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not exaggerating when I say that it was apparent in seconds how excellent this game was as soon as I started playing. The controls are tight, the gameplay is tight, you waste no time whatsoever getting into it. The combat system of transforming to move faster, untransforming to shoot and bashing into enemies to cancel attacks and recover ammo is smartly designed, intuitive to grasp and obviously contains a lot of depth. I will say that I do feel as though the game would have benefited…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I had the urge to dive deeper into its elaborate upgrades and to clear runs faster in Go Mecha Ball, but the irritating sound design, lack of personality, and quickly repetitious structure made this a quick afternoon's side dish and little else. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An absolute blast, as well as a very fresh take on movement -- not just for the roguelite genre, but for action games as a whole. While Go Mecha Ball is decidedly twin-stick shooter in its DNA, it also conjures up the arcade mayhem of old-school pinball machines. You'll be pinging between enemies and stage props constantly, alternating between ball-mode boost attacks and mech-mode gunplay seamlessly. Movement physics are also handled perfectly, giving your player character just enough weight…
