If you've played the original Grapple Dog, this is the sequel you deserve. It maintains all the fun grappling mechanics of the first game while also expanding on it with a new character and unique stage gimmicks. It's good! I don't know if I'd say it's a straight improvement over the original, it depends on what you're looking for. More dogs, less grappling. Better bosses, less crazy postgame stages. Generally better level design and flow, but over-reliance on "find 20 pickups to proceed". Grapple Dog was great, Grapple Dogs is also great. But maybe there's room for a third game with the strengths of both and the weaknesses of neither...

First impressions: More of what made the first game great, but now there's a cool goth girl dog with guns. The attention to subtle world building in Grapple Dog immediately is paid off with another great intro sequence full of fantastic artwork and neat writing. There seem to be some great polish features that were not present in the original, such as a menu-based stage selection that allows jumping back into an earlier level much more quickly. I will say that I'm struggling a bit with…

I think I need to play Grapple Dogs 1. I had a lot of fun then the levels started to get really long and grindy with finding the gems to unlock more levels and finding 20 keys to open a door. Definitely worth trying but the grind started leaving me conflicted. I love Pablo's gameplay (this game has a 50/50 split playtime for each character) a lot more that's why I'm saying I should try the first game.

Competent and welcome sequel with interesting gameplay ideas that doesn't make it just "more of the same". If anything I miss some elements of the first. The Pablo levels felt easier than the previous game, with less moments where you can use the grapple's momentum physics to skip ahead. Levels seem tuned to not let you do that anymore and more focused on the platforming using the new abilities. So in a way it was refreshing because it forced me to engage with the levels on their terms, but…

For me, I struggled to enjoy this all while knowing that me as a child would have loved to have had this as a core game to come back to again and again to explore and master, and it comes down to time. The main issue that rubbed me the wrong way was that the game seems built around exploration and discovering hidden areas and items - the main collectable for progressing the game is either earned through completing a challenge or through exploration, but due to the way the levels are built and…

Easily one of the most fun and stylish platformers I've ever played, combining all the best parts of Sonic and Megaman along with, you guessed it, grappling hooks. Highly recommend it. Also, when you 100% a level, you get to pet the dogs, and we all know you want to pet the dogs.

I played the first Grapple Dog game about a month ago, and was really excited to see the new one coming out so soon. It did everything I wanted out of a sequel to the game and then some, easily making it both an awesome follow-up and...probably just one of my favorite games of all time now? Things I love: The platforming is what the game sells itself on obviously, and it delivers. I absolutely loved this as a sequel to Grapple Dog, though there are some aspects that may be a bit more polarising to fans of the first game I loved them personally. The pacing is much improved from the first game, it feels like they took the themed level approach from the first game and just scattered them throughout the story, which really helps reduce the tedium of going through a world with the same theme throughout with the same song playing throughout. Instead you'll get a few levels…

Good game. Solid sequel. The introduction of a second playable character isn't a total miss. It's mildly frustrating to adjust between them because one has an air dash and the other doesn't. I'd prefer the game just honed in on one character, preferably Pablo. Also I feel they've dumbed the difficulty down a bit. I know a lot of people complained the original was difficult, but I disagree, I think had a perfect level of difficulty. The gold medal times in this one are way too easy.…

I had a great time with this game. Mostly very well polished, good level design, fun power ups. I played through finding all gems, but didn't bother with time trial medals. A handful of times a level failed to load when I started it, just stuck on the beginning screen where I'd normally fall out of a portal. Since it was the beginning of a level, nothing was lost by just exiting from the in game menu and restarting the level. Some quite annoying sound bugs that make certain noises MUCH…

Grapple Dogs: Cosmic Canines basically improves everything I loved about the first game, and irons out a lot of the quirks of that game as well. I think it controls better, has a more enjoyable reward for collecting, and has very tight and well done levels. The story is also very charming and quite funny. I also really like how Luna plays in contrast to Pablo. She has a lot more control to explore but is hindered by enemies a lot. Though I do think enemies might have a bit too much health for…

Starts off really strong. Goes from head scratchingly easy to kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but pretty enjoyably difficulty right at the end of the game. Weird bugs and jank I didn’t expect either. Not as good as the first one but ok. If I have the first a 9 I would give this a 7. Some levels are so easy they feel like they are just there for padding, all the way at the end of the game too. I thought that the first Grapple Dog was a fun time, but I found that it ended up getting just repetitive enough, combined with a handful of small gripes that I had with its design, that I never got around to finishing it. Cosmic Canines addresses most of my major complaints with that first game and I found it hard to put down. It builds and improves upon what worked well from the first game, while trimming out most of what I thought didn't work so well. Pablo's expanded moveset feels so…

A superb sequel to a hugely overlooked masterful platformer, Grapple Dogs: Cosmic Canynes is more of the smooth platforming goodness from the original game, with sugar on top. Luna, the new character, feels significantly different enough from Pablo to justify her existence (in fact, she might be a bit OP even, in comparison to Pablo) and her gunplay is surprisingly fun. More of this please!

An absolute, genuine delight. Shadow the Hedge-dog is a joy to control, to the point that I wish the whole game had just gone ahead and been designed around her moveset. Graphically dense, wonderful difficulty curve, and genuine speedrunning and search challenges for those who want to 100%, but that aspect is not necessary, and you won't feel pressured to do it outside of your own want of mastery. It's an absolute shame this did not sell better, and from interviews with the developer you can…

This one is a mixed review for me, especially as someone who really enjoyed the original Grapple Dog to 100% completion. The grappling in this game feels heavier and less snappy than its predecessor. While you can rebind the grapple and talk buttons (my preference is Y to grapple and X to talk), unfortunately on controller Y is permanently bound to restart time trial levels, and as someone who likes to hold down the button to grapple it has been inconvenient to have to restart due to this…

Wholeheartedly recommended. I wouldn't say it's better or worse than Grapple Dog necessarily - it does some things better, and a few things differently enough that some might not like it as much. Luna, for example. I LOVE playing as Luna, grappling and shooting like it's Bionic Commando or something, and it feels great - but her addition results in a decent bit less grappling overall. The momentum you carry through airtime is also nerfed just a bit, which makes it much easier and snappier to…
