Players praise the story, world-building, and BioWare-like RPG feel, despite a modest budget. [1][2][3] Many reviewers note clunky combat, repetitive quests, and excessive backtracking as major flaws. [4][5][6] Some recommend buying only on sale due to pacing issues and technical rough edges. I loved this game but can't recommend it. As much as I'd love to sing Greedfall's praises for its visuals, aesthetics, it's amazing main storyline (and a handful of side quests!), and it's key combat mechanics, the game very quickly becomes a repetitive mess of "go here, interrogate this one guy with either A) zero tact and emotional intelligence, or B) a super heartfelt monologue that somehow convinces him to …

I don't recommend buying it for the full price (which is about 40 euros), but I would recommend buying it for a deep discount. Just some short and simple impressions: - World is divided in to maps, which you access via fast-travel points. There is no option to fast-travel via in-game map. The fast travel-points are located huge distances apart. Thankfully, you can fast travel through your camps, which you set-up as …

Look, let’s be honest. This game is what happens when a smaller studio decides to make a massive, choice-driven BioWare-style RPG. And you know what? It mostly works. You play as a fancy diplomat with a sword, a pistol, and a baffling amount of charisma, sailing to a mysterious, super-green island called Teer Fradee. If you miss classic BioWare RPGs (like Dragon Age: Origins or Mass Effect), can forgive a modest …

Saw a lot of negative reviews, videos and posts saying this game was boring, which made me hesitate on getting it BUT MAN WAS I WRONG. Sure there are some repetitive elements but the lore, dialog and core gameplay reminds me of old school DA Origins and Mass Effect with a little of the Souls like combat as the cherry on top. 10/10 no regrets

Ugh, I would say recommended with a HUGE CAVEAT:: ONLY if you're into janky games like TWT and Elex, etc and ONLY if its on deep sale. This game IS servicable. Don't misunderstand. I still generally enjoyed my romp through the game, I liked the story, and the combat is fine. There's some itemization, some customization, some relationships / dialogue choices, etc etc etc. But.... GOOD..LORD.. the DIS-RE-SPECT these …

neutral · AI labelView post →This review should be treated more as a mixed one rather than a completely negative one, but i just couldnt bring myself to give this a positive rating I absolutely adore the story of this game, it got me hooked right away and I couldnt stop coming back to it just for the story alone. Very interesting world building and I do like the characters, but it is a bit rough around the edges And this is my main issue and why I cant recommend the game fully, the gameplay really drags this game down…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know this might seem weird to leave a negative review after 30+ hours, and almost no-one is going to read this, but here goes. The game is beautiful, well voice acted, and the gameplay mechanics are pretty enjoyable. The story was engaging enough that I wanted to see it's (albeit predictable) conclusion. However, the negative review is based on a few factors: 1) There are only a handful of different enemy types (winged creatures, four-legged creatures [a few variations], humans and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GreedFall is a story-driven RPG that really focuses on its factions, choices and setting. Combat can feel a bit clunky and stealth is almost non-existent and feels very limited and poorly implemented but it’s the RPG systems and decisions that keep you invested. There is a LOT of running and backtracking throughout the entire game and it genuinely becomes one of its biggest pacing issues, often slowing progress down more than the quests themselves. The story still carries it along. The…

I'm not sure if anyone's played DON'T NOD's 2024 release Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, but I had the same problems with that game, too. On the one hand, I've fallen in love with the world of Teer Fardee. I think the devs are doing something really cool here. Their fresh New World-ish setting is rife with a LOT of discussion about…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been playing this game for more than 20 hours, but the experience starts to become an absolute torment when i arrived in New Serene and started to explore the outer world. The maps are huge and empty without many things to do, except endless encounters with the repetitive mobs (wolf packs, bat swarms) roaming all over the place. NPCs act like mannequins, standing still and staring into space. Main/side quests are lame; Some conversations with your companions are rather preposterous.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man, why do smaller studios try to make their game bigger and bigger? This issue plague the game, a shallow and tedious experience in favor of trying to give an "open-world feel" to the game, in favor of making the game longer, of having more quests. Everything is bloated, most of the content in shallow, uninteresting, pointless. Quest design is one of the worst aspects of the game: when making the quests, designer never thought about how these flows, most of the time you are going from point…

Also, I don't understand why I hear Blackwall's voice coming out of almost every face I encounter except for the ones I'm (maybe?) allowed to kiss??? Greedfall is a cruel, cruel game.
neutral · AI labelView post →Have you ever wondered how diplomacy works? This is the perfect game to showcase this. A beautiful RPG with captivating artwork and equally outstanding gameplay. The story is about two cousins; you play as De Sardet (Male or female), a noble diplomat who accompanies your cousin to Teer Fradee, a remote island, to find a cure for a plague they call Malichor, which your mother is currently suffering from, along with half the city. Your cousin Constantin d'Orsay has been appointed by his father,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The ONLY thing that isn't half-baked in this game is its worldbuilding. I could write about every single mechanic in this game and how it was implemented in a lazy way (like how disguises seem cool and important with clothes bearing the mark of each faction, but ends up only being used when you want to enter each town's sailor warehouse). Here are the big ones for me: Quests are all monotonous fetch quests where you run around back and forth and back and forth over and over. Go upstairs…

The narrative, the writing, voice overs and historical garb all excellent. Having played two Spiders game prior I can easily attest to Greedfall being their best game I've experienced by far. Some I've seen argue AAA versus AA. Not my concern and the argument is pedantic at best Greedfall is an historical period piece and deals heavily with the Spanish…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've now played the game for 23 hours and I can honestly say I really like it! I'm about as far removed from a Souls-enjoyer as you can get, so am just playing on Normal difficulty, and am still having a blast in combat. I'm playing a magic user and just let my boys Kurt and Vasco go ham on the enemies while I run around blasting everything with Shadow magic and Stasis, so perhaps combat jankiness is not as obvious to me as it would be for people who like to play frontliners. Some parts of…

positive · AI labelView post →Positively suprised by GreedFall. The game shows its age in some parts (a bit too many fetch quests for instance, a lack of fast travel options at times) but the story and worldbuilding are amazing. Just the care put to flesh out the natives is enough to warrant a try. If you enjoy a good story and solid worldbuilding and can look over some of the more janky aspects, I can recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I find it difficult to recommend this game but I don't think its a terrible game either. It mostly feels very mediocre and my general feel of the game is a 5/10. If you find it on a really good sale then I'd say give it a try. gameplay: Quest design is as bad as most mmos. Lots of pointless running around to cross large sections of the map with nothing interesting while you are traveling. neutral · AI labelView post →Greedfall Rating: 5/10 – Mediocre Initially I thought that Greedfall was a pretty Good game. The opening hours, while a bit heavy on the running between the same people over and over, are fairly Good in terms of story and general exploration experience. But the more the game went on, the worse my perception of it became. Greedfall’s primary forms of gameplay revolve around combat, exploration, and questing – both for the main story and the various side quests in the game. Combat in…

neutral · AI labelView post →Well, I'm around 10 hours in and have a really hard time staying interested in the game. The controls are clumsy, combat is repetitive, non engaging and pure boring, story is meh, characters are meh, map and dungeons are quite big but not in a good way, like you walk a lot and fast travel is basically useless. I've played it, and it's really fun. The magic feels good, but the two-handed fighting feels best imo, super beefy. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd say this plays like The Witcher 3, with the story and pacing reminding me of Dragon Age 2. That being said, this is a more grounded story than many fantasy stories. I was concerned about an RPG in a colonial setting, but the game manages with grace. There's no way you could tell this story in a different kind of setting. It's unique, fun to play, build variety is good, and it seems hard to make a weak character. I'd recommend this wholeheartedly to anyone who's a fan of this genre of game,…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I spent about 84 hrs with GreedFall, and overall, I’d say it’s a solid 7.5/10 experience. The game really shines in its setting and world-building. Teer Fradee feels unique, and the mix of colonial politics, fantasy elements, and faction dynamics kept me engaged—especially in the first 30–40 hours. Gameplay is also pretty enjoyable, with a decent amount of freedom in how you build your character and approach situations. Graphics and music do their job well enough to support the atmosphere.…
