Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 181 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (1,155 of 1,251 positive).
Players praise Jet Lancer as a fast-paced, arcade-style aerial combat game with a satisfying movement feel and weapon customization. [1][2][3] Many reviewers highlight the game's challenging missions and rewarding difficulty, especially in New Game+. [4][5][6] Some players note issues with visual clarity and controller support, while others find the time-limited missions frustrating. [7][8][9]

It's a fun game most of the time, if you look past the writing. But the missions with a time limit are honestly unforgivable. You have to get a certain amount of score within a couple of minutes, and the game does not prepare you for how extreme these challenges get. Mission 22 was especially miserable. I had to look up a clip of someone else beating the mission, just so I could optimize my loadout and replicate the …

It is like an evolution to Luftrausers game, well made. The weapon customisation is good to keep things fresh and we can customise the gameplay according to our style. Missions are short and fun, we can keep playing in short sessions which is nice

I'll glaze this game endlessly because I love it. It's like Devil May Cry with jets. Frenetic, fast action. Dogfights in the sky filled with hostile jets, fights with big mechs and also comes with a surprisingly nice story and charming characters. Also the soundtrack is the best. Review addendum 1: (After New Game +) Yeah, this game has a new game plus. Most of the story is the same, up until the end, where you can …

Pros + Fast-paced side-scrolling dogfight game. It will definitely test your reflexes + Each mission has a different challenge. Don’t expect equipping the latest weapons and mods can get you through a mission. You need to strategize your loadout, especially if you are aiming to ACE (highest mission completion rank) the mission. Cons - Game is not controller-friendly. Sure, this game supports controllers. But there …

spiritual successor to Luftrauser. very similar gameplay but Jet Lancer has a (light) story and missions. very fun game, very enjoyable movement feel and weapons. if youre a fan of Luftrausers and been waiting for a sequel all these years, this is the game for you.

neutral · AI labelView post →Seriously, Jet Lancer is an inherently hype, high-energy game where you're dodge-rolling through Itano Circus missile swarms and strafing giant mechs. And the music somehow manages to elevate that even further.
positive · AI labelView post →And wrapping up for now (again) with a game that'll cost you a whole THREE dollars - Jet Lancer. A personal favourite. A mash-up of Luftrausers and Macross, with some fantastic math-rock music, spectacular Itano Circus missile swarms and big mecha bosses. Also an NG+ mode you won't want to skip.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game doesn't allow you to rebind controls. Forcing a control scheme on players (especially such an unintuitive one) is just crazy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Luftrausers vs JetLancer vs WindRunners. I'm a huge fan of Luftrausers, but I always wanted it to be a little more than an arcade game. If you haven't played it, it's basically Asteroids (another favorite of mine, when I can find an original cabinet with an oscilloscope), but with gravity physics. JetLancer takes the gameplay and gives you a whole single player campaign and more complex mechanics (you get multiple weapons at once, a spin, a boost). WindRunners (of which I've only played the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game was fun at the start, but it gets to a point where the screen flashes bright every few seconds with enemies dying and missiles exploding, and i can't keep track of anything. Makes every mission really frustrating to me and just ruins my experience as a whole. Game really isn't for me
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →49. Jet Lancer (2020, PC/Switch). Does anyone remember LUFTRAUSERS? That dog-fighting WWI game? It plays very similarly, but switch the dieselpunk sepia for the popping vibrancy of an early 90s anime OVA, and add a variety of giant mechs as boss fights. So, in other words, kind of an improvement!
positive · AI labelView post →Fast-paced, good-feeling game about doing flips and pressing the dodge button. I like the arcade feel of racking up huge combos, and there's a good rhythm to nailing perfect dodges and managing the cooldowns of your rockets and special weapon. I do have a few gripes: - Many of the weapons feel questionably viable to aim on a controller, though I can appreciate that they behave differently enough for that kind of precision to matter. - Would appreciate a more zoomed-out camera. The parallaxed…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What if Luftrausers had a (really good) story mode and just a lot more stuff in general? That would be this game, and it is _incredible_.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing this game is the closest you'll get to feeling like you're in a aerial combat anime.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was sold before I even started a mission. The menu, the opening music, that background picture, the whole thing is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hype-y. This game knows what it wants to be and does it REALLY well. And the action is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fantastic. No messing around, you just zip around the screen blasting everything to ♥♥♥♥ and timing your dodges to the frame. It's chaotic and somehow I can still follow what's going on with my old fart reflexes. Bosses are cool, dogfights are amazing, and after about 3…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you were expecting something like Lûftrausers you came to the wrong place, the only similarities are aerial bullet hell gameplay, some control over your loadouts and pixel graphics. The game has a story progression and over 30 different levels with a handful of different objectives, although most of them end up being 'shoot down enemy plane'. Some of these missions are actually brutally difficult and some you have no idea whats going on with all the enemies and projectiles around the…

positive · AI labelView post →this is a great game with fun gameplay and an amazing soundtrack. the story and characters are also really cool. the bosses and all of the missions are really fun and well designed, except for a few missions. i completed mission 15 after many hours of suffering and i was thinking "thank god i dont have to worry about that level anymore. i hope i dont have to see another one like it". guess what i found 6 missions later? another timed mission! not to mention the fact that there was a higher…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ace Combat 2D | KAMGUSTA's MINI REVIEW A good arcade game, not seen every day. It starts easy, then becomes challenging and after a couple more stages you realize that it was just the tutorial. Game is hard, more like a mix between a 2D arcade jet dogfights combat and a bullet hell. Thank goodness there are aids available. Controls are tight, but you move 360° and in meantime you have to avoid tons of enemies and missiles, besides the upper and lower limits of the screen. Do you want some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels really awesome to play. I hadn't done barely anything in the tutorial but fire up my afterburners and I was already smiling at how fun it felt just to move around. It also kind of boomed me in that it starts really baby mode and I was kind of like, "damn, is this all gonna be these ultra short little missions that aren't very hard?" nope, this game ramps up very nicely after the little tutorial pond and gets intense as hell near the 3/4 mark. A really good challenge. They…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recently bought and replayed this on the Switch, going all the way through NG+ on there as well, and unlocking all characters (I think) in arcade mode. I really enjoyed my time with this fairly straightforward title, and while I know the story isn't all that popular I certainly enjoyed it (though, I do have a penchant for cheesy anime-esque stories, lol.) and NG+ was especially a blast to play through, especially with the true ending. I'd recommend this game in a heartbeat.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I already liked the game as is but that Newgame+ really was something else. I also was not ready for the (true) ending, that ♥♥♥♥ was phenomenal. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please do not purchase this game if you have a sensitivity to strobing lights or sudden bursts of light. There is no option to turn them down, and the latter half of the campaign is an unending parade of them, whether prompted by your dodges, hits to your plane, hits to the enemy, or just your plane abruptly changing direction. The game advertises a 'strobing lights off' option, but in my experience, this does very little to reduce the density of those effects.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My biggest critique is the health system. With you only having 3 lives per mission and a dodge ability, you'll end up spamming that dodge constantly. This is also most likely the reason the enemies hesitate to shoot at you, more often than not pursuing you for a while before firing a single salvo of shots or sending easily dodgeable missiles your way. A game with a better damage system (imo) and a relatively similar gameplay loop would be LUFTRAUSERS, where you slowly regenerate whenever you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game does not hold your hand especially if you are new to the genre. However, it feels much more rewarding the more you learn to fly. Customisation options for your jet is varied and every customisation has its use but for some reason game limits how much you can customise. Because of this you don't feel like your jet is getting stronger. Some operations go on too long and some operations feel redundant. Soundtrack is nothing special but fits the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As an Ace Combat lover, i had to give the 2d equivalent (with less pseudorealism) of the franchise a go. I can say, all things considered, it's a satisfying experience and worth the small price. More details: The plot is a paperthin excuse to blow things up, this is no ff14. Don't expect depth, just enjoy the spectacle. The characters too, are mostly generic. Maybe good for a small chuckle, but nothing major. This one's not for newbies, gameplay wise. The gameplay is responsive and fast…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have never seen a game with a stronger opening 20 seconds.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game that could be best summarized as Luftrausers on steroids. The game is fun but the story is rather bland. Pixel art is very nice. Combat started out interesting but as the game goes on it asks you to keep track of more and more things at once. The screen gets so cluttered with enemies and projectiles during the later missions strategy went out the window, and I found myself bashing my head against missions repeatedly hoping I'd win by chance. The Bosses are awesome. Each one…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun arcadey game. some issues with visual clarity which could be fixed with options to change bullet/crosshair colors. im a little skeptical about how crucial i-frames are to your defense, but it works. visuals/audio are nice and i always appreciate ng+ content.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In response to a review that left a negative review because the get x combo in y time missions were too hard. It's funny. Back in the "old days" stuff was just ridiculously or unfairly hard, and we loved it anyway. Those missions are very hard. Fair hard, but very hard, real skill is required. AND I FEEEL LIKE A DANG WIZARD FOR BEATING THEM! THIS GAME IS SICK! I FEEL SO MUCH DOPAMINE RIGHT NOOOOOOW! Now THIS was why I loved Luftrausers, and Jet Lancer is a SICK and WORTHY successor. Look…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Niche game that easily fills the niche. It's nice to see Luftrausers iterated on with different mechanics. I appreciated the various enemies and the combinations that were delivered. The story is a bit silly and there's not really a ton of variety setting up your ship. If you like to try and overcome challenges and flying then this game is for you. The score attack levels are difficult and I was "stuck" a few times but I just needed to get good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun, great soundtrack, easy to pick up, story is average just skip
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The flow of the action is perfectly arcade-y and it spends just enough time on dialogue to move pieces forward without it becoming a novella. You can tailor the flying experience with "Upgrades" to make it more/less punishing, changing how much control you get of the jet fighter. Music is incredible, it is a bop to listen to as you do the surprising amount of variety on mission types (clear waves, hack radio towers, non-annoying escorts).

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I think that the Arcade Mode is where this game really shines, the Story Mode is plenty of fun as well. A really fun game where you can never really get bored. I usually only stop playing because of Time Constraints haha.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was enjoying this game just fine until getting to mission 26, which was so brutally and unforgivably difficult that I pounded my head against it for an hour before realizing I wasn't having fun any longer. It really would've behooved the developer to include some way to get health from destroying enemies or from passing stages within a level, because as things stand the player can't help but feel like they're wasting their time if they get hit early on in a mission. 26 is where it finally got…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this game on a whim. Great addictive arcade gameplay, controls are easy to get used to and the game itself isn't frustrating, but it keeps to on the edge of your seat. Pixel art is beautiful and the music slaps. Best $2 I've spent, heck would have bought it at full price!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first, when I started playing Jet Lancer, the controls felt very wonky and unimaginable, and everything felt kind of unpredictable. But as you push through some levels and get the hang of controlling the jet and shooting, it starts becoming more natural. The hectic feeling stays, but in a controlled chaos type of way where everything feels fast and slightly unpredictable, yet still managed and planned out. The gameplay for this game is absolutely polished, with good controls, fun weapons,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You've played luftrausers, what if more. Both sides have greatly expanded tools. You now have 2 sub weapons and an i-frame dodge. And now the enemies are even more anime. If the dodge is used at deathbomb timing it works even better.

positive · AI labelView post →♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WE ARE COOKING! I DONT KNOW WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ IS GOING WITH THE STORY BUT I DONT CARE CUZ THIS GAMEPLAY IS PURE DIESEL
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the music really goes hard
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really great game. Upbeat and extremely fun soundtrack. High octane thrill ride and difficult challenge for even elite gamers. A few recommendations for the devs: On normal mode the final boss and penultimate boss need to be a lot tougher. Compared to Empress and the last level before those two they were baby-easy mode. Add an achievement for dunking an enemy in the water when they lock on to you before they charge at you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →loving this game so far, just wish there was a way to control flight with WASD but still use the mouse to shoot and roll. Unless I'm missing it there doesn't seem to be.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →amazing arcade pixel jet combat... proving its the game play not the graphics every time
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just as badass as the trailer looks. Controller players may need to mess around with their steam settings to get their controller to work properly with this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Scratches the itch for arcade action. Didn't follow what was going on at first, but after I awhile I was catching a nice flow dodging missiles and sending out a lot of my own. This is not a deep customization roguelite. It's straight up fun and challenging
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tense and rewarding gameplay + nonserious and fun(ny) plot + dope soundtrack + eye catching visuals that don't negatively impact gameplay + no bugs encountered Mouse and keyboard recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jet Lancer is an astonishingly fast paced air combat game with a ton of soul, Iconoclasts has some of my favorite characters in a platformer and some very daring choices esp for its vintage, Vernal Edge has the best combat in a 2d action platformer period no notes, Tangle Tower is just fun puzz
