the game is fun, but i can't recommend you to buy it in the state the game is, i have a good pc and run it in windows 11 and the game crashes constantly now I'm stuck in a mission because of this, also the game have some bugs like buildings textures appearing in the sky, and in windows 10 you can't play it unless you have the pro version of windows 10, but if you want to play it get ready for a lot of sketchy fixes …

Just Cause 2 is one of those games that somehow feels old and fresh at the same time. Sure, the graphics show their age — it has been 15 years after all — but honestly, the game still looks totally fine, especially when you fly around Panau and blow things up just because you can. The biggest highlight? The map. It’s huge. Massive. Even today it feels impressive, and exploring it is half of the fun. And of course, …

This game is deeply stupid and pretty repetitive but damned if it ain't fun as hell. Also worked with proton experimental just fine, no tweaks needed!

Just Cause 2 was special. it never had aspirations to be more than a fun b-movie game with lots of stunts and explosions and in every way, is a delight. Grappling to basically anything, pulling the chute to start flying and using the grappel to pull yourself along is fun, but also when applied to quickly hijacking vehicles, or surfing atop them, the pure act of getting around is just fun. Story is not much to write …

Players who liked Just Cause 2 talk about huge, impressive open world to explore; those who didn't talk about pC port crashes frequently without tweaks. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Just Cause 2 received generally positive reviews upon release, with critics praising its gameplay, graphics and open world; the game was widely regarded as a significant improvement to its predecessor. It was nominated for Best Action Game at the 28th Golden Joystick Awards, losing to Assassin’s Creed II. Eric Neigher of 1UP.com praised the game's texture, draw distance, depth of field and variety, writing that such details made the game feel more alive. The explosions were praised for their visual effects. According to Neigher, the varied landscape and the grappling hook made Just Cause 2's game world superior to those of Grand Theft Auto and Infamous. Eurogamer's Simon Parkin commended…

60 of 373 · most liked firstTo be fair, I well remember game reviews in the late 90s and very early 00s listing "This game REQUIRES a 3D accelerator" as a negative. Same with Just Cause 2 requiring DirectX 10 and thus not running on Windows XP. This is just another of those steps, and it is semi valid when you remember these.
neutral · AI labelView post →Very fun and great graphics even for 2026, just disable decals and bokeh and turn anti-aliasing to 4x to prevent mid-game crashes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →they made SAN ANDREAS MULTIPLAYER in 2006 with STICKS AND ROCKS in a CAVE and then did it again in 2013 with Just Cause 2 you definitely don't need LLMs to add multiplayer to a game!!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →• A TOTAL FREEFALL INTO UTTER BOREDOM ... Just Cause 2 is a classic example of a game that mistakes vast, empty space for genuine depth, offering a map that feels less like a playground and more like a tedious chore list. While the tropical island of Panau is undoubtedly impressive in sheer size, traversing it becomes a mundane exercise in frustration as you spend the vast majority of your playtime flying, driving, or grappling over unremarkable terrain that hides the same repetitive military…

Its PC port has occasional issues, and there are some tweaks that need to be done to prevent crashes and such, however it is a highly worthwhile game for anyone to play. Go check it out!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been replaying Just Cause 2 which is a great reminder this game is an all-time best, I sometimes think this might be the ultimate expression of the sandbox game as a medium, the vertical design work is just SO strong and I love how unobtrusive the story elements are
positive · AI labelView post →**Just Cause 2** The game that made me burst my sides laughing at glitch compilations as a child is installed on my computer years later waiting for me to connect npcs to moving vehicles, trees, windmills and more with a grappling hook. I must give in. twitch.tv/phoenixredtail

And certainly neither did you: Wheel Stream is tonight at 6pm! 2010’s Just Cause 2 is our game this week, powered by Avalanche Studios’ Avalanche 2.0 Engine; come check out the famous Chaos System! I’m on the game’s wikipedia page right now. twitch.tv/mattfromalaska at 6!
neutral · AI labelView post →I remember the anticipation around this game and looking at low quality screenshots with my friends. The sense of scale in this game is crazy, all these years later this 360 game still has one of the largest open world maps ever made. Having such a gigantic map did hurt the game design a little but that didn't stop the game from being a fun sandbox to ♥♥♥♥ around in PC port is old and often crashes though, i recommend looking up fixes before getting into this
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It a is a long time, since I played JC2, but after playing JC3 more recently a lot of memories came up, so I had to give this game a praise. While JC3 was amazing in its own league, JC2 is kind of special, which I can't quite explain. Everything in this game is much simpler and toned down. The world is massive and you can cause a lot of destruction and chaos, collect a bunch of stuff, capture dozens of places, follow the storyline. But I think what stands out is that: if you decide to actually…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing Just Cause 2 in the year 2026 is crazy 1. As simple as a lot of its concepts are, it still feels ambitious in a way that a lot of AAA games nowadays would be afraid to replicate 2. You used to have to try really hard for people to realize your game was racist as hell, huh
neutral · AI labelView post →much, much, much better than the first game. such a huge improvement. got my ass handed a few times cos of #skillissue but i still had a fun time nonetheless. seeing the credits was definitely satisfying after everything, ahaha. just wish it had better optimisation for pc
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quick Summary Story: Main missions unlock later based on Chaos score (earned via side missions & liberation). Gameplay: Open-world destruction and freedom make it very fun. Mechanics: Grapple-based gameplay with interactive hijacking and hacking. Technical: Holds up well, but may need small tweaks for stability. Overall: A big step up and where the series truly found its identity. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I forgot how good the main menu music is in Just Cause 2 lol I haven't played this game in YEARS :3
positive · AI labelView post →Nostaglic game. Great graphics and gameplay. It has aged some but it is one of the best games in the franchise. The game would not start on windows 11 but there is a quick fix that you can find on google to remedy the issue. Takes minimal effort and then you are up and running. Be aware that you should disable the decals setting in the advanced graphics options as it can cause crashes when on. I turned this setting off and have not had issues since.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →AWESOME ACTION GAME I think it is a really fun and cool open world action game it has a extremally large open world with vast desert regions and vast mountains regions and large cities and it has hundreds of locations including villages military bases and also oil rigs in the ocean. And in the game's massive open world there is upgrade and loot crates scattered across the map to be picked up including ones that increase the players maxium health for each 5 picked up or vehicle parts and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a "GTA clone", and just like it, plenty of contents, huge area, and very annoying collectible hunting. The gameplay mechanics are very fancy, reality meets nothing as there's not much of reality about the game. The world is set up in criminal organizations just like GTAs, but in an isolated island in a somewhat distant future -- without actually futurist stuff. The controls are also good and responsive most of the time. It's mostly customizable but, for instance, some controls like…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been slacking on starting & playing a new game. Right now, I'm trudging through Just Cause 2. It's fun. But otherwise it's a completionists worst nightmare. About 1000 collectibles, 900 KM of world, and a lot of things to blow up 💣

It's unfair to call this game product of its time because in some aspects it's far ahead of that, but in the rest it barely works Positives * Amazing open world (imo the best part of the game) * Dynamic physics system, which is given to almost every object in the game * Freedom to approach almost any way you choose to handle any…

neutral · AI labelView post →It's a nice way to let off some steam! Blow stuff up, destroy everything and "liberate" Panau in the name of democracy. It's a powertrip of the actionmovie type.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a life-changing game. It made me question my life decisions... Why did I think that playing this would be a good idea? Why did I sign up to get all the achievements? The main story is super short and can be completed in 2 hours or so. But most of the time you'll be destroying same oil tanks, generators, statues and transformers in order to progress and unlock next story missions. And to put a cherry on top - there is an achievement for clearing the game to 75% (thank you that it's not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In other news, I played & beat Just Cause 2 on the Xbox 360 today! I have a lot of fun memories of the old 20 min demo of this game. It was enjoyable, but fairly repetitive :P I loved the scale of the world, it's humungous! Otherwise, eeehhhh... Twas fine! Solid 7/10!
neutral · AI labelView post →HOW did they fit THIS into TEN GIGABYTES???? One of the biggest sandbox game maps ever manages to fit into a folder a twentieth of the size of any modern Call of Poopy game. Yes I understand that asset file sizes are much smaller and reused in places to save space, but LOOK AT HOW FRICKIN' BIG IT IS!!!! An action-packed masterpiece! I haven't played it as much as Just Cause 3 (brain attracted to newer games) but I definitely intend to. Buy this one if you're playing on a non-gaming PC or…

positive · AI labelView post →An amazing classic from 2010. I played this on my xbox 360 and now on steam. It's a bit dated, and may need some tuning to get running properly, but after that, it's great chaotic fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game has a lot of problems but still fun to play and cause choas. the grappling is way better than Just Cause 1 and there is no invisible dogs and chickens that do not stfu. the motorcyles are terrible to drive because the camera tilt when I turn in corners, also braking while driving cars at high speeds cause it to slide even when driving in a straight line. getting the achievments Trying Everything Once (Drive 104 vehicles) is almost impossible without having dlc vehicles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly recommended! This game features a massive open world packed with things to explore and destroy. If you enjoy open-world action games with plenty of chaos and freedom, this is definitely one to check out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game that made the franchise, Just Cause 2 still holds up today as one of the most fun sandboxes ever to be released; no wonder its developers are endlessly trying to recapture this lightning in a bottle. A lot can be said about what this game does right, but to me the main thrust is that Just Cause 2 truly gets what playing a sandbox should be like. The immense map, varied environments dotted with destructible enemy infrastructure and large collection of fragile vehicles means that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game, personally i enjoyed it more than the third game, but both are good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun sandbox, main plot is kinda short and not memorable but that's not the main purpose of the game, the main purpose is to cause chaos and havoc all over the place and that is done really well. It's enjoyable for many hours but with progess, enemies start to get stronger and that is, where I think it gets worse. We need to take breaks from carnage to hide/run away, as it's surprisingly easy to die, even on normal difficulty - fortunately besides respawning in one of the bases death…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aside from the many unmarked collectibles / chaos objects, this game is a blast to play and one of my favorites on my steam account.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At a time when the most vertical open-world games I’d played were and Assassin's Creed II, Just Cause 2 felt like someone had suddenly ripped the ceiling off what traversal could be. Pairing the grappling hook with the parachute was pure flow-state energy - once you got into that rhythm of launch, glide, swing, repeat, the entire island became a playground. It wasn’t just traversal, it was a vibe, and it made the usual downtime of going from the end of mission A to the start of mission B…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very good game. A bit grindy if you want all of the achivments and also for some people this game is unplayable cause of crashes and bugs and so on. But for me it ran just fine. I only saw one rare game breaking bug. A bug that if you die theres a rare chance that all of the radio messages you have heard so far will play again. And 3 quest markers will be in the game world with no way of removeing them. Not even if you restart the game. The only fix for this bug is to start a new game. But…

positive · AI labelView post →Get your ass back to Mars and break shit like your name is Fred Durst. Red Faction Guerilla is probably my favorite open world havoc-wreaking game, which is saying a lot when Just Cause 2 and Mad Max exist?
neutral · AI labelView post →I keep trying to get into Red Dead Redemption 2, but I find myself constantly dropping it for titles like Sleeping Dogs, Watch Dogs, or Just Cause 2. RDR2 is a massive, meticulously crafted achievement, but it asks you to truly commit to its slow pace and realism. Right now, that kind of commitment is hard for me to give. Just Cause 2, on the other hand, is unapologetically a video game first. It never tries to convince you it's anything else, making it the perfect drop-in, drop-out experience.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just Cause 2 was one of my favourite games on the PlayStation 3, and I probably spent more time creating chaos than actually following the story. That was always the point of the game. Blow up military bases, steal every vehicle you can find, parachute across the map and cause as much destruction as possible. It never tried to be anything more than that, and I actually appreciate that the series has always stayed true to its identity instead of trying to copy every other open-world game on the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just Cause 2 was an incredibly unserious game and I absolutely loved it. Every single video game could be improved exponentially by introducing the Just Cause grappling hook
positive · AI labelView post →you're probably only going to buy this if you grew up with this game in the 360/PS3 Era. If not, you'd probably look towards the newer installments. If you've played the newer games and really enjoyed them, curious about the legacy of the series, keep in mind that some things aren't going to be as fluid and modern as those games, so there'll have to be a level of patience at times - for the graphics, and some mechanics. It's still a Just Cause game, however, so you'll most likely have fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a bit better than first, but.. + much better graphics + spawns are a bit tamed compared to the first game + destructible environment and chaos is fun - still a horde shooter that spawns infinite enemies once anyone notices you or you try to do anything - during scripted events, idiot npcs just rush enemies, most often dying than not, often ignoring enemies spawning around. bam, mission failed, try again - while being a horde shooter, ammo is gun specific and cant be reused for other guns from…
