TLDR: Probably my favorite King's Bounty game, and I recommend it wholeheartedly. King's Bounty 2 is easy to get into even if you're new to the series,. The core gameplay is simple: you pick 5 units for your army, and you use that army to fight battles and do quests. As you do that, you gain leadership (allowing you to lead a bigger army), talent points (giving special bonuses to your army), and unlock new parts of …

Players who liked King's Bounty II talk about turn-based combat is fun and engaging; those who didn't talk about the game feels unfinished or rushed. Which matters more to you?

Critics, per Wikipedia

King's Bounty II received "mixed or average" reviews, according to review aggregator Metacritic. Jonathan Bolding of PC Gamer praised the game's "naturalistic" world design and visuals while bemoaning their presence in the context of the game's slow movement speed, janky movement, sterile characters, and dull overworld activities. Jarrett Green of PCGamesN wrote similarly, stating that while combat was both fun and challenging, the game was hindered by unexciting presentation of story, characters, and derivative mechanics. Leana Hafer of IGN criticized the game's inconsistent voice acting, lack of storytelling nuance, inability to form relationships, and its predictable characters and story…

The good: King’s Bounty 2 throws you into a ridiculous fantasy world as a noble who hoards the most dysfunctional army of demons, peasants, and mythical beasts like a hoarder on a shopping spree. The turn-based combat is better than average — lining up perfect spells and watching your troops mulch enemies never gets old. Quests are packed with dumb, fun choices and the whole thing has that charming “beer and pretzels” epic vibe that makes you forgive a lot. The bad: The main story is about…

I've played a few prior King's Bounty games (Legend, Armored Princess, Crossworlds, and Warriors of the North) and I certainly remember enjoying those games; especially overcoming them on Impossible difficulty using all the tools the game provides. I went into this iteration of the game with some expectations of having a hard difficulty that can be overcome. But I was very disappointed. First off, the smaller battle maps, while looking pretty (and the concept of fighting using the…

tldr; this game is actually, literally unfinished. It sucks otherwise. I'm a bit of a fan of the King's Bounty series. The games are extremely long, extremely heavy in strategy and you will inevitably field thousands upon thousands of spitting plants for economic reasons. You will get colored gems to upgrade your hero and come across a lot of valuable equipment that can drastically alter your schemes. You'll be interested in the side-quests because they tend to be sorta goofy in some cases…

If you liked the previous King's Bounty games...this ain't it. Game balancing is terrible, you are either far overpowered or far underpowered for each battle. Dialogue (when present) is laughable. What story there is, is meh. The world is simultaneously smaller than previous KB games, and an absolute slog to get from one end to the other, even with fast travel. I rarely stop playing RPGs of any sort because I want to see the story through to its conclusion. But I stopped playing this 2/3 of the…

The decision of going from overview map into full 3D was bold but it took all the charm from previous game. Now the game looks like Gothic or some other 3D person RPG, but without all the good things from other game. Tactical battles are still there, but they feel like they dont belong into this 3D world. I don't usually bother with reviews but finished the game and i don't think the mixed rating is deserved in this case. The game is composed of 2 main parts, the turn based tactical battles and the 3rd person world exploration. The world exploration is decent as long as you don't expect a full fledged RPG a la Witcher, you explore the world acquire resources, units, and equipment that you'll use in the tactical battles and to progress the plot. The world and story are quite nice, surely…

There's good talent involved in the game. Specially when it comes to level design and music. Some changes could've worked, giving the player a new perspective into the world of King's Bounty, improving combat, etc. But, in the end, too many decissions against not only the fans of the saga, but newcoming players as well, ruined a great oportunity to revive the franchise. In the end, we get a game with a decimated unit variety (much more focused on humans) and lots of restrictions that punish…

Most of the thumb down are people coming from first game. I personally didn't like the first game however, I loved this one. game is not perfect but game is fun, great puzzle, Story is ok. Need to do multiple play through to see more story and unlock all achievements. ( I don't do that but good for replayability) Good items. Combat is alright. I came here thinking this will be bad but I had a great time.

Since I recently replayed the original King's Bounty, I decided to revisit King's Bounty II. I completely disagree with most of the criticisms raised in negative reviews. This installment of the series is actually really good and, what I consider very important, it respects the player's time. I loved the first game when I was a kid, but today I feel it's a bit padded with filler encounters. King's Bounty II is much more well-thought-out in this regard. There are enough combat encounters and…

Sure, this one is definitely different in look and play style but the core idea of turn based combat is the same. The game does seem geared to you playing as a mage. I will say that this game is 100% a low-budget game and does come with a few quirks, but on the whole, I have been really enjoying playing through it. So all in all, I would recommend this game to people who like turn-based combat!

If you played any of the previous kings bounty games this will be a monumental disappointment. Charming, relaxing and fun I really don't understand many of the bad reviews, it's not a perfect game and should probably only be about £20 at most, but the game is really enjoyable. It's like an adventure RPG mixed with turn based strategy. How unfortunate, believe the reviewers! I love Kings Bounty games, my favorite is Darkside! But this is just awful, the 'openworld rpg' is just visual with nothing to offer, nothing is interactable, very little to pick up, linear paths without choice, this game advertises itself as a crossover between Kings Bounty and Elder Scrolls but it fails to do either, the combat system is nothing like the typical KB series and falls flat. There's a reason the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"…

I think, for me, the appeal of King's Bounty is walking around clicking on things, trying to figure out who is going to beat me up, and who i can take, and who i should take now before they stop giving me xp. And battles. If a battle is possible it feels good to solve it. if it's not possible it feels good to come back to it later and solve it. The combat maps are painfully small. And you only have 5 armies to fight. At the same time the combats are slow af. Quests are all errands that you do in MMORPGs. You have a semi-open world but you walk like a snail and your horse is no better. You can't control your horse well cuz you can only turn when walking forward and the paths are narrow af.

I could gotten past the terrible voice acting, terrible horse riding, and terrible story if not for the horrendous combat. It's difficult to tell units apart since they're represented by many tiny, blurry, pixelated individual units instead of a single big one. It's rather simplified & boring, too (KB combat wasn't very complex to begin with). I don't even dislike the game because it's not the same as the first game. I dislike it because it just feels bad to play.

Heya folks, I've finally beaten the game and I wanted to add a short review for the game. If I were to give this game a rating, it'd probably be a 6.8/10. It can be a bit janky in places, like horse movement, the voice acting is so-so (A lot of it felt half-hearted and like the actors weren't really interested), and the overall writing is so-so as well. The game's combat system is relatively simplistic, and since you lose units a lot, you have to backtrack to unit sellers frequently, which…

Not sure why many hate on this game. It has flaws yes, but I think it is good work from a AA studio. I played this game right after finishing the last two KB games (The Legend and Crossworlds) and I must say that I was pleasantly surprise by the improvements they made for this game compared to the other 2: - Many fast travel points - Fully voiced dialogues (albeit some voice lines are not very well acted, I find it still better than reading a wall of text) - Larger variety in combat maps,…

pros: new graphics new combat features cons: missions feel long and boring very little troop variety compared to older games not very clear path of progression for newer players troops cost too much money still would recommend it as its a fun game to play through and this series was my whole childhood but i would definitely play the older games over this one if you are thinking about trying kings bounty

I bought this on sale for under $2 and think even that was too much for this game. Story 1/5 Voice acting 1/5 Quests 1/5 Graphics 3/5 Music 3/5 Ending -100/5 Difficulty 3/5 Seriously, just put another hundred hours into Skyrim or something, I don't know, but don't get this.

A combination of a classis rpg, and combat from heros of might and magic. Good stuff.

It pains me to say that this sequel is a total junk. For starters, the graphics are cheap and the controls are messed up good. I have trouble just walking around on the horse. Fortunately at some point it just disappeared and I was happy I could just walk ... did I mention walking also requires some fps gaming skills? :) The items are so boring ... most of them are labeled "useless junk, you may sell it". The useful stuff is rare and just boosts one of the few attributes your hero has.…

it's not easy decision for me to give negative review for turn based combat game from kings bounty franchise. but i have no choice. while combat itself is not bad, character development is nice and items are ok, the WORST part is HUGE map and WAY TOO MUCH messenger quests like go there talk to him than return. and no, a somewhat quicker horse doesn't make things better with all its inertia. i feel like devs neglected good parts about combat and character and concentrated on pointless time…

Absolutely SMASHING GOOD CRPG here! The attention to detail is massive (like the game, too) and ranges from visual graphics and audio to the divine subtleties when building your character or your army. Really really good stuff here, they legit made a massive and meaningful KB game in third-person here, complete with a billion loot caches to find! Bravo devs! :)

Man, I really wanted to like this game, it has all the good foundation, but the quests are so boring, I couldn't remember almost any of the story even if I tried, the combat is painfully slow, the exploration is painfully slow, the third person view adds almost nothing to the game and it just feels like you're doing fetch quests all game and everything starts repeating as a predictable pattern that I have no more desire to play this game anymore. The technical state of the game is also not very…

what a shame, all the things which made the first kings bounty good is missing in this. they really messed up. All they needed to do was make another decent HoMM clone..

Fun, under-rated game. Combines open world exploration of Skyrim with HoMM turn based combat. The game is also fully voiced. No, the plot isnt going to win any awards, but its serviceable, and theres plenty of side quests. Graphics are OK, nothing spectacular, but its all typical fantasy stuff. The game has pretty good production values, considering its small budget of indie developers. If you are waiting for the next HoMM game, give this one a try. I never played the first Kings…

This is a decent game but I would be lying if If I said it didn't have serious problems. The biggest issue for me is the unbalanced state of the game. Some fights are very unfair where you meet far "better" armies then you should at the level you are at. The whole game just felt like it was a uphill struggle all the way. You were never really allowed to get a good army untill the late parts of the game. Locking the set pieces of armor behind random quest rewards is so stupid I'm lost for…
