Krimson
Developer CryingPsycho
Krimson is a challenging gritty rhythm platformer featuring heavy electronic metal music. You're an unknown spawn going through a hellish world as it moves rhythmically to the music. One wrong move means death but the checkpoints are often and death is very short. From the Steam store page

The Precision Platformer to End All Precision Platformers To be completely honest, I already knew I was going to at least like Krimson—the Next Fest demo back in June last year was like a jolt of electricity cutting through my post-Celeste blues going on some three and a half years at that point—but what I didn't know was how utterly infatuated I would become with literally every facet of its design: how impressed …

Krimson not only does it give a fun challenging platforming experience, but also makes you experience platforming with the rhythm of the music while it also throws a lot of cool lighting at your screen, this game has a great OST with over 30+ unique songs and over 30+ unique levels, the boss fights are also very fun and challenging. I would definitely recommend this game if you like your screen feeling like an LSD …

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →RAD GAME. Precision platformer that's not completely unforgiving with good controls to pilot your... ball, stages made of skulls and other low-res (PSXish) demonic imagery, stages that pulse and change with the music, and music that really makes me ♥♥♥♥ myself. Got enough edge that it goes past being cringe and pleasantly loops back to being as cool as I found Shadow the Hedgehog when I was 13 (which was very). Good stuff.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Store page already sells most of the game. My contribution and opinion on the game: this is basically 140 except it's 4.7571428571428... times as awesome (yes, precisely that much). The soundtrack, the exploration of different environments and styles of heavy metal, and just simple good-feeling gameplay. Not much that goes wrong with this, just be wary of the visuals: it can get a bit flashy sometimes.

Music is awesome, bosses are hard, visuals are amasing. Personal ranking 8/10 Ru: Игра шикарная и очень недооценена. Она не такая сложная как Celeste или SMB, но требует определенного умения платформить. Музыка агонь, Боссы сложные, Визуал отличный. Ставлю 8/10 P.S: beat the game, gonna rank everything now. Levels 7/10. Great, but sometimes boring.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had a great time with this. My only complaint is that it's sometimes hard to see your exact position so the precise platforming can be awkward.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the last four days since the game's release, literally 100% of players have beaten the first major boss fight which is just shy of an hour into the game, which is something I don't think I've ever seen on Steam, ever. Huge testament to the fun feeling of playing (and even failing) in this game. Incredible design. Fantastic. People who give it a try simply find it irresistible and they have to keep going. Can't wait to see this grow.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not extremely long, but really well executed. Intense visual style with an intense soundtrack, and constantly feeding you new gimmicks to play with. The game isn't terribly long (finished at review time) but it'll take you a while if you want to get levels deathless cause it's far from easy (though also not terribly difficult, just has a lot of tight moments) I think it would be nice to have more circles where we maybe see some interactions between features from circles 2-4, though I can…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very goofy visuals, ton of variety in the platforming with a completely new and creative mechanic every x levels. took me 7.2 hours to get through the entire thing. it's not hard enough to where you get stuck on a level for an hour or more, but i definitely died a couple hundred times if not more. very fun to play with an 8bitdo controller which made my hands tingle after a while due to all the vibrations, but i suppose it suits the vibes :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great! How the music is engraved in the gameplay is fantastic. Great ost. Very well thought out level design. Diffucult, but forgiving, especially on the hitboxes. Unlike Celeste, where the difficulty is mainly mechanical (performing tricks, like wavedashing), here it's (mainly) just you, your jump, your walljump and gravity. Now, all that's left for you is to >>SELF DESTRUCT<<!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game intending on playing for 20 minutes and roasting it with my friends. 4 hours later and I beat it. It’s a genuinely really good game if you can handle the visuals

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A gloriously grimy audio/visual feast that will melt your eyes and ears in the most wonderful way.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Imagine if Super Meat Boy were designed by a version of Terry Cavanagh that was somehow freebasing off a drip feed of death metal directly to the cerebellum. What I find most interesting about this rhythmic platforming TRIP (in every sense of the word) through the circles of hell is that although there are your familiar fleshy, steel, and molten takes on the underworld here, there's also a psychedelic rainbow zone that is effortlessly creepier than all the others, and I am *here* for it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best way I can describe this game is "an experience". It will occasionally be frustrating, player-hostile, and tedious. But when everything comes together, it is very fun. It is essentially a platformer where the level elements react to the song's rhythm. The music, the graphics, and the level design all combine to create a really artistic and fun game experience. I picked this up in 2024 and didn't get around to finishing it til now. I do wish it was a little bit longer, it's only about 2…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very fun little platformer, absolutely in love with the visuals, which somehow are readable despite all the flashing (I'm serious the flashing is CRAZY, do not play if you're at all prone to epilepsy or even just dislike flashy visual, this is a rough sell unless you're already drawn to the aesthetic) Even if you do not give the game a shot, please please please P L E A S E look up the soundtrack for this game on bandcamp by CryingPsycho, the soundtrack is soooooo good and unique, very gritty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, what an amazing hidden gem! At first glance, some things will be obvious to you - either you like this "argent metal destructive" vibe, or not. If you do. Do be aware that they're not kidding - this is a precision platformer at heart, and it is quite challenging. Though, for Krimson specifically, I prefer to call this genre of games an "assault on the senses" type genre. As you may see from the store page, this game is super audiovisual heavy, and for that I'm happy that it doesn't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVE IT This game is great for beginners in platform games (like me), it's not too easy and not too hard (because of checkpoints). The visuals are beautifully done and the soundtrack is the best part of the game. I keep returning to it after a year of completing it and I listen to ost at my free time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Krimson ended up being a pretty great hidden gem that caught me off guard with how unique it felt. This is technically a precision platformer but the real appeal here is all about the presentation, you get this evil heavy metal aesthetic with a killer rock soundtrack that really drives the whole experience. The game consistently looks and sounds cool throughout, with some genuinely fun visual ideas that really shine during the boss encounters. The platforming itself plays well and stays…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At the time of writing this review, I still have not finished playing the game. But I will give an honest and positive review. This is my first precision platformer I have ever played and it's quite difficult. But I absolutely love the challenge it gives! Sure it seems that at some points I can't see where the little meatball is, but the aesthetics given are phenomenal! Circle 3 is definitely the trippiest of the circles with it feeling like acid and/or magic mushrooms on steroids. While…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Score: 7/10 Art: The visuals fit the tone of the game well, though they lack variety. The choice to include a rainbow-colored stage is certainly interesting, but it comes across as odd and somewhat out of place compared to the rest of the design. Music: Excellent across the board. The industrial metal soundtrack is energetic and perfectly suited to the gameplay. While most tracks are instrumental, the few vocal tracks stand out as highlights. Story: There’s no real narrative to follow.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great soundtrack, tight gameplay, some of the best controller vibration integration I've felt in a long time. Highly recommend if you're into precision platform, will continue to return for a long time to come

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Krimson is the ultimate hardcore rhythm platformer. Despite still being a precision platformer, controls are smooth, forgiving and easy to master, so once you get in the zone and follow the rhythm given by the amazing soundtrack everything just flows and is one of the best feelings of that style I had with a 2D platformer. It is also very generous with checkpoints, so there is very few repetition. To add to that, every chapter introduces new mechanics, so you'll constantly have to rewire your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got a taste for this game when it was not fully released yet and got to see how the whole music-vibe system worked, the game is pretty fun and it gives you a mixed feeling of rage quitting but also wanting to play so you can see how each level changes, it is a good mixture of getting angry and joy after you pass each level. needless to say that is has many challenges and if you enjoy being in hell as a ball of bloody fluff, this game can give your challenge needing feeling, a good thumbs up.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuine fun platformer that takes place in hell! Music is nice too! I recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very fun and awesome music.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall Krimson is a very good game. Nearly everything is perfect with this game besides the huge difficulty spike at the end of the 3rd act, and going into the 4th act, as well as some hitbox issues I have noticed every so often. 8/10. Not much else to say honestly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →New game: Krimson. This platformer changes based on the rhythm of the music, in a very similar way to Just Shapes and Beats, but with a heavy metal look. It's on [Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2107520/Krimson/) for quite the cheap price, and there's a demo. Also, I want to highlight [this review](https://steamcommunity.com/id/heathhh/recommended/2107520/), it really shows everything about the feel of the game.
neutral · AI labelView post →This game is crazy, I loved the aesthetic and the music so much, what a good combination... It pumps you up into finishing the levels fast, and the difficulty is HARD but FAIR. Good to play alone or with a few friends passing the controller after each death. Recommended to play with headphones or with a good sound system (this would be sick with a good subwoofer) If you're into Metal and Dark Electronic Music definitely try this out. This game haves a lot of potential for speedrunners,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so hard because the ost is so good
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game and the music alone is enough to make you buy it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not finished with the full game yet but the Next Fest demo was legitimately one of the best recent experiences with gaming I've had and the game is just that but more. Will update with a proper review probably once I finish this game eventually, but the demo alone warrants the full game getting a positive rating and hopefully further its push to new people. If you love games like Celeste and can handle rhythm games or especially if you like rhythm games, get this game. NOW.
