I walked through the forest for 2 hours and I feel like I achieved nothing. I have no idea what to do. That being said I'm sure there is a quality game in there, from what I am reading from reviews and the forum. I just don't have the patience for it, it didn't hold my attention long enough for me to want to keep exploring. Mixed review here... A thoughtful horror game that is heavy on puzzles, atmosphere, and exploration. There are some heart-stopping scares and chases, but these are few and far between. Instead, it mainly derives its tension from an ever-present sense of danger and dread from the gravity of your situation. You'll wander dark forests, navigating by landmarks rather than a magic arrow on a map. While there is a main path forward, you're …

So, just to make this clear at the outset, this game, a small indie game by the tiniest possible team, a game purely about getting lost in the woods is UTTERLY GOR'RAM TERRYFYING. I got lost and loved it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDhvsFJNCSM This is definitely a very different kind of horror game than the usual fare, but not in a bad way. Within minutes of starting the game, you'll be lost in a strange, otherworldly forest realm with seemingly no way out. It'll then be up to you to scour the forest, exploring, foraging and hopefully avoiding danger. Maybe you'll find something to help you escape? What might put some people off is that the game doesn't really…

An ok game that kinda ruins everything by including a constantly draining health meter. While I appreciate this is one of those rare horror games that doesn't require you collect matches/batteries every 11 seconds, the fact that your health is always lowering really left a sour taste in my mouth. I also wish the world wasn't so fricken huge. It's mostly empty, so you're just kinda poking around looking for interesting things to do. This is a mixed review where I can tell it was made with…

This game is something else. I love it. a lot of exploring, very challenging puzzles, an amazing setting. I struggled with a lot with of puzzles but it felt so rewarding when I finally managed to solve them, kinda like when you finally kill a boss in dark souls. If you think you are stuck, just go through notes and pay close attention, most of the time the solution is right in front of your eyes without you even realising it. I'm bad at writing reviews but all I can say is that the game is…

After a few hours of playing, my first impression of Lempo is highly positive. The atmosphere of the game is very tense and anxious and you never know what's going to happen. The game's plot is mysterious and engaging. Sometimes when you're walking through the forest you're not quite sure where you're supposed to go, but that's part of the game, as there's a lot to explore. The game also contains puzzles of many different types. I found the puzzles to be both challenging and very rewarding. If…

Well I have a problem with this one. I told myself I was tired of looking up how to beat games online and if I can't figure it out on my own I just won't finish it. A message from the devs says they intentionally made the game difficult to the point where they encourage you to consult the internet to have someone else teach you how to beat a part you are stuck on. I think this is bad game design and if you make the game that is too difficult to figure out what to do on purpose then you should…

The game is alright. It's open ended for a horror game. Features puzzles, exploration etc. The most important thing for me is that it also features voice acting! That helps with buildin' the atmosphere imo. The game does not hold ur hand so it can be tough figurin' out what to do next. I personally got stuck at the Shell puzzle. Still it's not a bad game. Highly recommend this game if you like good atmospheric psychological horror with puzzles. I had been looking for a game in a similar vein to SOMA for a while and LEMPO carried the torch beautifully. What I love about these games is that atmosphere is treated as king with the respect it deserves. You'll find yourself wandering around in silence with an eerie wind blowing and heart-plunking strings screeching at you in tense moments. The sound design is great at keeping the player in a state…

Yes I do recommend this game. If you love exploring it doesn't get much better than this. It keeps getting better the longer you play. The horror right now where I'm at is more of an uneasiness. I'm not afraid to explore more but the terrain is not always easy to navigate. A little bit of climbing and scampering about but very manageable. Very well crafted game with some good puzzling. Enjoy. ***Right now I have to add a note that there is a platforming section right at the end that I…

Really enjoyable! I would say this is more of a exploration/puzzle game with horror elements rather than a purely horror game. The puzzles are well balanced. Challenging but not to the point where you will get stumped and stuck. I am not familiar with Finnish mythology and lore, but I am so fascinated and will be doing further research!

A game that invites you to explore and rewards you with secrets, collectibles and lore clues. An interesting exploration puzzle game that dips into Finnish mythology. It gave me SCP and Control vibes, while not being a carbon copy of either. The puzzles are challenging but fair, with most of them either having the clue to a solution nearby or in readily-accessible documents, or taking a small bit of challenge to work out. I enjoyed the fact that enemies were present but not constant, but a handful of chase sequences punctuated by more passive, static enemies that were easy to avoid…

Lempo soikoon! Metsänpeitto is forest filled with tense horrorish atmosphere, puzzles and exploration. For a small indie dev team, Lempo looks and specially sounds really good, puzzles range from simple to challenging (including some optional puzzles), Metsänpeitto feels vast, but not endless to get lost and wander. Horror / tension is created by maintaining creepy atmosphere throughout the game flavoured with touch of Finnish mythology and few good sudden scares. About 9 hours to complete…

I completed Lempo in just about 15 hours, without any hints or walk-throughs whatsoever. I WILL SAY THOUGH: You need an immense amount of patience to play this game. Everything about this game screams "Run Away" and it's simply amazing how scary it was to someone (me) who is so accustomed to horror. This game gradually drew me in and I binged it to the point it drove me temporarily nuts. You'll get lost a lot and spend hours traversing entire forests whilst trying to work out what the hell to do. But like it says at the start, there's no hand holding. The black stone puzzle was probably the most difficult and had me scratching my head for ages. You really have to pay attention to most of the notes, items and the environment. Some puzzles felt familiar to understand, some puzzles I just couldn't see where to get the code for x thing so I had to look it up (I learned after that there were actually a hint system :D). Just not a very good game. The main reason for my negative review is the theme. So here are the cons: - I thought the game would make use of Finnish folklore, but it failed to do so. The monsters in the game seem to be like so generic blobs taken from some random library. What a missed opportunity to have characters like Näkki, Iku-Turso, Hiisi, Elfs, Trolls etc. No no, lets use some random goo-like blob? Or some spider-kind of thing as a swamp monster? - The theme is not consistent. At…

Lempo is a first-person psychological horror and exploration game inspired by Finnish mythology. You play as Paul, an ordinary office worker who gets hopelessly lost in a dark, malevolent forest after work and trapped in Metsänpeitto, an otherworldly mythological realm.

An underrated gem. It could be a bit obtuse at times and some solutions, especially to some of the more optional puzzles, were very hard to figure out or easily missed. But if you want a game dripping in atmosphere, and one that lets you free to roam and poke and explore without the constant pressure of being hunted, but still enjoy an occasional moment of terror, then you owe it to yourself to pick up this game.

Would absolutely recommend this gem of a game for horror / puzzle / mystery adventurers! I fell in love with this game when playing the demo back when it came out. So I guess I'm a little biased because of that in this review! BUT. I will say, the game surprised me in so many ways going through it. The ambiance and music is truly immersive and gorgeous in many ways. I at times got a little stuck and lost, puzzles are complex and challenging in many ways. But I soon realized there is also a…
