What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 90 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (163 of 215 positive).
Players praise the unique time-shift mechanic and puzzle-combat blend. [1][2][3] Some find the gameplay repetitive and the time limit frustrating. [4][5][6] Reviewers note the game is polished with good visuals and worldbuilding. [2][7][8]

Really cool concept, but in my opinion it's badly implemented. I got to the second zone and i'm already tired with the combat of the game. I wished this didn't have a time restriction so it forces you to always be on the run and never enjoy the combat. Looking at the combat options i can understand why the game forces you to always be on the run, you only have 2 type of attacks with 3 attacks in the combo which is …

Under a hundred steam reviews on a game of this quality is really quite saddening to see. This is a good little combat puzzler with an interesting world with lots of lore to read, a pleasant, adventurous atmosphere and some solid time loop gameplay as you and your copies run around defeating enemies as fast as possible. If it suffers from anything (other than being completely overlooked), it's how it feels like a …

TL;DR Well worth your time - smart, fun, detailed, gorgeous, and makes you focus on your timing and combat execution as much as your movement and routing across multiple runs through a single encounter. I came into this from a quick brush with the trailers thinking it was Super Time Force x Hades, but left my first (short) session with it suitably impressed with what it is instead: an action puzzler where the goal …

Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior is an impeccably polished action puzzle game with great production values, gorgeous visuals, interesting worldbuilding and an entertaining (though not exceptionally deep) story. But it’s also a game that sinks or swims depending entirely on whether you enjoy its arena puzzle fights, since that’s firmly where the core of its gameplay lies. So first things first: I’m seeing lots of …

Writing this review after finishing the first act. A very awesome blend of genres with incredibly satisfying and rewarding gameplay that has me gripped right off the bat. Both the Action and Tactical elements of the game perfectly compliment each other, in a way I've never really seen another game do. The visuals and art direction are also very gorgeous. And the narrative elements whilst aren't the major draw, do …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While this game has a great concept, it doesn't do very much with it and despite a pretty strong start it shifted from challenging to frustrating a short way into Act 2. The only thing Lysfanga does with its core mechanic is put you into combat arena after combat arena with the only goal beyond defeating all the enemies in the limited time available to you is to challenge you to do so under a stricter target time limit. At first meeting these challenges was satisfying as it was done by…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played it for two hours and overall the game was fine. It has an interesting story and nice gameplay. However, I did run into two issues. First, there’s a bit too much exploration. The maps are beautiful, but they feel empty, and since the game doesn’t really include exploration mechanics, this part of the experience becomes tedious. Second, and this is ultimately why I decided to refund it. The game’s optional target times are based on your total time rather than your current time,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought the game had a Hades vibe. I was wrong. It's essentially a puzzle game with very simple combat. But you can also just brute-force your way through the puzzles, so it's not really worth trying too hard. Overall, I don't think there's anything particularly bad about it to point to, but there's also not a lot that would actually be interesting or engaging. Pretty scenery that gets a bit repetitive. Lukewarm story. It feels like developers had a much bigger scope in mind, but ended up…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The core gameplay is centered around a brilliant idea: you complete each level in multiple attempts, where each attempt is merged with the previous ones, so ultimately it's like controlling an army of yourself in a kind of time-shifting combat puzzle. Unfortunately, some problems and design decisions simply spoil the gameplay. 1. There is very little sense of progression. You unlock all weapons within a few hours and they never become more powerful. You can find and craft new armor, but armor…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While the idea behind the game is brilliant, it's a very repetitive game in practice with not nearly enough variety. Not only that, but by the second world, the game's framerate started to completely tank despite my PC handling other, more graphically taxing games just fine. Not worth it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this timeshift mechanic. It feels really fresh and inovative. It's cool! You have to love the mechanic. But it's very cool! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First and foremost the bulk of the content should be taken more as a puzzle combat game, and less as a sheer mechanical skill check. I thoroughly enjoyed routing each encounter and pushing the times below the challenge benchmarks, and hope to continue my time perfecting every encounter to reach 100% completion. There is mechanical skill, but it honestly is much of a side factor compared to the strategy and planning each encounter demands you do. The move set of each weapon is individually…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such an amazing game, very unique USP and bring freshness to the hack'n'slash genre. For 20 bucks I can only recommend you to play it as soon as possible !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feel as though I need to get this review out quickly, near enough at the end of act 1 and am very impressed. Ratchet and Clank: A crack in time was one of my favourite games on the PS3, seeing time rewinding mechanics come back in a completely different setting like this with innovation on top is really fun. Everything feels incredibly tight and rewarding, especially when you go back to an encounter for the time trial time. It almost plays like a hack-n-slash themed puzzle game in this regard,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Batora vibes with cool implementation of time shifting ability. Plays smoothly on DECK with no tinkering. A bit of strategy (if you can call it that) and a lot of hack n slash, which I love! Just starting out but I am loving it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very unique game that is potentially fun but ends up being disappointing due to the nature of its repetitive gameplay. The game's hyper-focused on its combat and unfortunately for the most part, each fight will play out the same.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My review after finishing the main campaign and beating all the challenges(basically: finishing the fights quickly) pros: unique gameplay fun at the start cons: the gameplay is extremely repetitive, you are just using the same trick on all the fights:(hit something for 3secs>time rewind>repeat) there is no action or hack and slash gameplay while the game is about puzzles and figuring out the best tools to over come the fights, most of the fights require some skills (at least if you want to do…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think this game could have been great but not in its current state. Right now the game is set up as an action game but it should have been closer to a puzzler. The puzzle side of the game needs better management of your prior runs. You should have been able to save runs and mix and match instead of having to replay every life to make a small change.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For Steam Deck users: For how simple the game looks, the optimisation is pretty bad, even at lowest settings and FSR usage, you will see the FPS range wildly with frequent drops below 30fps. Don't even bother with LSFG, it will make the game choppy and ghost the protagonist. Other than that, the game is very pretty, the colour palette is amazing and the gameplay system is very unique, fun and enjoyable. Definitely not regretting the purchase, just hoping for better optimisation in the future.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay so for those trying to figure out what this game is exactly, I personally would describe it as an action puzzle game. There are hack and slash elements using your attacks and spells to deal damage and you have to strategically figure out the best way to clear the enemies within the time limit. It isn't really like Hades besides the top down camera view. As to what I think of the game, it's a fun game! if you like Transistor or Bastion and enjoy games with strategy I would suggest this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →interesting concept but the story is so uninteresting, and the end game is just what if you played every level in the game again but more annoying
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At the time of reviewing I'm not too far in, but I think I'm ready to give my thoughts! Once I finish the game I might put an edit at the end if my opinion changes further in. Honestly? Pretty solid game! There's definitely some parts that are more rough around the edges, but I'd say the good absolutely outweighs the bad! I'd give about an 8 out of 10 on the whole. [h1 style=""]The Good Gameplay Loop Incredible. A good gameplay loop is a top priority for me in games, and Lysfanga does not…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lysfanga is an action game played from an overhead/isometric perspective, and utilizing an amusing time mechanic. The main gameplay involves clearing combat arenas of all enemies, and you are given a (short) time limit to be able to destroy them. However, the time limit makes it nearly impossible to defeat them all and that's where the game's time theme comes into play: If you die during an initial run, or the timer ends, a ghost copy will replicate all the actions you did in your previous…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting gimmick, but it was used very poorly. It is basically an arena fighter where you have to kill only a part of the enemies to start over and kill the other ones. After a while, with light puzzle elements. But that's it. After a while, you get new puzzle types, but it is missing the power fantasy that you expect from a hack'n'slash. But still, on sale, it is worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed how this game started - presentation looks nice, idea of every combat encounter being a puzzle is a fun one, at least at the beginning. But after first 40 percent of a game is done - game shows some insane difficulty spike, enemies just absorbing a lot of damage and being constantly frustrated is not very fun. Also you realizing that game world is completely empty except some boring collectibles and you just move from arena to arena. So yeah, i am abandoning it, sad to see decent…

neutral · AI labelView post →I'm having a lot of fun with this game so far, having finished Act One. Combat is puzzle-based with encounters centered around defeating enemies using time-shifted clones, each having an optional time goal that effectively translates to defeating all enemies using as few clones as possible. The earliest zone is somewhat repetitive, but combat variety increases substantially as the player progresses - via new enemies, spells, weapons, and other mechanics. The world itself is charming and…

neutral · AI labelView post →This thumbs up comes with a word of warning - AMD video card users need to be wary, as there is currently an issue that can cause the game to crash in menus from time to time on 6000/7000 cards (had it crash my video card drivers over 10 times over the course of completing the game, necessitating a system reset each time) - wager this will be fixed with patches eventually (hopefully), so be sure to check any upcoming patch notes. As for the actual game, outside of that issue, and why I give it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm really really enjoying it, a lot more than I thought I would. The art direction is very strong, the music is catchy and the story quite mysterious but the star is the gameplay, it's quick, responsive and still makes you think A LOT. Like I'm using parts of my brain that felt rusted and now they get to shine a bit brighter thanks to this golden lady. Thanks game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the love of god let us skip Cut scenes, and stop wrestling control from me every 5 steps, also while i appreciate that you want us to look around a arena before the fight starts dont do it, it completely takes you out of the moment if we fail the time limit because we cant preview the arena thats fine, you actually did a really good thing by putting the fragments to try again either in the arena or close by so they are supper easy to get to, and we are not punished for failing the time…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, Lysfanga has a problem that can't be fixed, no matter how much time is spent on it. The gameplay loop becomes so repetitive that it already feels like I've seen everything the game has to offer. The time-loop combat puzzling can only carry the experience for so long before it starts to wear thin. For me, that came quite quickly. It's a shame, because the mechanics are well implemented and the art style is quite nice. More than anything, it just made me want to replay Hades.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played through the story, its amazing. Sadly not a lot of people will ever see the game, but i do think the gameplay is innovative.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A quite successful game, the first time I saw it at "Gamescom" it caught my attention. The game is presented in a good and captivating way. The way the game is built is a good one and it blends very well with the story. ( the world-building and lore are fantastic and add a lot of life to the game ) The idea of the game is an interesting one, being represented by the war between two ancient kingdoms and the desire for revenge, at the same time combining in a good way with the rediscovery…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rewinding time vs. rare item drop The premise for this game is so simple, yet so brilliant, that it hooked me right from the first trailer, then the demo, and the game itself. This is a game to hone your skills, like Ghostrunner, Hollow Knight, Katana Zero, Commandos, etc. The game is very tactical. Some kind of 1-character DotA with a Commandos-like pre-game analysis phase and Katana Zero post-game analysis. If you like the demo, you like the game, pretty much. It is not just one gimmick,…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is pretty, but the combat loop becomes boring quite quickly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am thankful for these demos. I find them helpful in helping me decide whether to pay attention to the games they present. Millennia is another civilization game. It's not bad. I'd buy it on a sale. Dread Dawn. It's interesting. I may buy it in the future. Diceomancer. Too dicey. Staying away. Back to school. I recognize it from the unfinished mobile game series. Not touching that. Lysfanga. Needs a controller. Uninstalled. See? Helpful.
neutral · AI labelView post →It's a puzzle game not a hack and slash. Adjust your expectations... Between time constrains and constant restarting of the arenas I can't recommend this, also the performance is abysmal and the combat just reminds me of how awesome Hades is.

neutral · AI labelView post →A very interesting puzzle action game where you are required to consider combat encounters and how best to tackle them with the various tools at your disposal. The time mechanics make the combat puzzle very unique (in some ways similar to games like Transistor). Encounters are also concise enough that failure and repeated attempts don't hurt the pace of the game. It also has a solid story that is engaging in the way it is told even if it is not full of surprises. Would highly recommend.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is fun and frenetic and even if the difficulty curve is really slow i had my fair share of fun playing it. I Would recommend it only if you like the genre since the story is a contrivance that exists only for the gameplay to take place.
