What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 189 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (714 of 754 positive).
Players widely compare it to Donkey Kong Country and Rayman, praising its polished mechanics. [1][2][3] Many find it easy and relaxing, with generous checkpoints and forgiving difficulty. [4][2][5] Some report save file corruption issues, especially with Steam Cloud. [6][7]

STEAM CLOUD DOES NOT WORK!! Today I wanted to continue playing, GONE. All my in game progress was gone, only ''new game'' is available. Buy at your own risk, avoid if you want to 100%. Beware! If you lunch the game on your Steam deck, while you also have it on your PC, it could erase all your progress as well.

It's like Donkey Kong Country Returns and Rayman Legends had a precious little indie baby. That's exactly what it looks like visually and feels like mechanically, but our marsupial here has a unique moveset based around their long tail. This game feels polished to the same degree I expect from AAA Nintendo. Much like a Kirby game's difficulty curve, you'll probably feel like things are "easy but still quite fun" in …

PLAY THIS GAME! It doesn't look like much in the screenshots. This game is mechanically like a Donkey Kong Country game, particularly Tropical Freeze, but also has a lot of aesthetic and music choices that are reminiscent of Rayman Origins/Legends. If you like platformers you owe it to yourself to play this game. Compared to the aforementioned games, this one is pretty easy. The speedruns are generous on times. The …

If I see the 'precision platformer' tag on Steam I start to run. If there is one thing I don't like it's crazy hard platformers that make you repeat a section a hundred times until you finally beat it. I like platformers with a mild challenge that give you extra goals that are slightly more difficult. And that's what Hoobadventure offers. It's colorful, it has nice graphics, the controls are precise and it's never …

This is the closest you'll ever get to playing Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on a different platform. Marsupilami: Hoobadventure has more charm and love put into it than a decrepit franchise like Marsupilami would normally deserve, and it showcases some great talent not only in the visual design aspect, which seems to be Ocellus Studio's forte based on their vast portfolio of cooperations with Fortnite and …

60 of 207 · most liked firstAt first glance it looked like a super basic kids platformer and yeah, it kind of is, but in a way that’s actually pretty fun. It’s very straightforward: run, jump, smack enemies and collect stuff, but everything feels polished enough that it doesn’t get boring too quickly. The levels are colorful and easy to get through, and the whole jungle vibe has a nice morning cartoon feel to it. It doesn’t really try to do anything new. The controls aren’t the tightest, but they’re good enough, and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Marsupilami: Hoobadventure is a vibrant platformer that brings the beloved comic book character to life in an engaging video game adventure. Gameplay Mechanics The game's core mechanic revolves around the Marsupilami's unique abilities, particularly its long, prehensile tail. Players can use this tail to swing, climb, and interact with the environment, adding a clever twist to traditional platforming. This feature is extensively utilized throughout the game, especially in the final boss level,…

neutral · AI labelView post →Perhaps a game that did not get the attention it deserves. Marsipulami: Hoobadventure is a solid platformer in which you take control of a fictional creature called the 'Marsupilami'. His tail can latch onto rings and other things plus you can use it to run faster and smack enemies with it. Anyways, what makes this game so good is that it combines features from most of the well known platformers like Sonic and Rayman. The game is not overly difficult, I've managed to finish it and I usually…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished the Hidden World in Marsupilami: Hoobadventure. Beautiful and pretty entertaining way to cap off the game. Although, there's still the Cataclysm mode, which is appropriately apocalyptic. A marsupilami's work is never done, but hey... it's a good time.
positive · AI labelView post →Hooobah ! A silly little Sketch of two Marsupilamis from the 2021 "Marsupilami: Hoobadventure" video game. So here are two of the playable ; Twister and Punch, doing naughty things !! www.furaffinity.net/view/64912735/
neutral · AI labelView post →A really good platformer, with well designed levels full of secrets, bonus zones, various collectibles that unlock different things... It's fun to play and the graphics is well designed and appealing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spyro's finally getting a new game. Rayman's making a comeback. Marsupilami: Hoobadventure is getting a sequel. Lobodestroyo is making some noise again. You know what, y'all? I'm really liking what the video gaming future holds. 😎
neutral · AI labelView post →How can something this beautiful and nostalgic remain so underappreciated? I’ve watched the Marsupilami cartoon since childhood. The game is visually soothing, with stunning visual effects, captivating music, and thoughtfully crafted level design. Even the replayability of its levels has been executed with remarkable craftsmanship. Anyone who enjoys the 2D platformer genre will absolutely love it. That said, the game is very easy ! At least for me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great, fun ride for all ages. It has good controls, creative challenges, some cute setpieces and it's so cool to look at. The new world might be a tad too difficult for young people but I welcome the challenge pretty much. Took me ~10 hours to 100% the game, totally recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The kind of game you have no qualms recommending to any fan of the genre. Rock solid Donkey Kong Country style platformer. Friend randomly mentioned this to me, definitely would've never heard of it otherwise. I'm gonna check out more from this developer. I heard their Smurf game is a sleeper gem too. I'd give this a solid 9/10. Which in my opinion means it's worth your time. For reference I'd give DKCR like 9's, Mario Wonder a 9.5 and Astro Bot a 10.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Most underrated game... It's perfect on Steam Deck <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🆕 NEW GAME: MARSUPILAMI - HOOBADVENTURE, a charming 3d platformer by Microids based on Belgian comic book. What I already like: - music; - very simple controls; - speed up mechanics; - very colorful designs; - adorable main character; - acceptable difficulty.
positive · AI labelView post →🥭 Simple, casual, and fun. The perfect platformer for kicking back and relaxing. There's no need to collect everything, secrets are easy to find, and there are no truly difficult moments. The action requires only jumping and two types of attacks. The level design isn't boring, three characters, four worlds with ~10 levels each, and optional challenges. Despite the typical "cheap kids' game" graphics, it's not uninteresting, and for a little-known Marsupilami, that's already good. If you're…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5: MARSUPILAMI: HOOBADVENTURE (2022) THIS GAME IS SO GOOD WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THIS a Donkey Kong-lite made with clearly a fraction of the budget. what it lacks in content it OVERWHELMINGLY makes up for with some of the smoothest controls and most fun level design i've seen in a long while
positive · AI labelView post →People will tell you that this is a hidden gem or has great controls or something. They will tell you it plays great, and is available at great price during a sale! IGNORE THEM. this is a ripoff of DKCR/DKC:Tropical Freeze so brazen that Nintendo's copyright lawyers haven't pursued the case yet because since the case came across their desk they've been too busy high-fiving it's dull. Very very dull. It turns out when a game isn't challenging in any way it's just boring. This is the kind of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Donkey Kong Country Returns/Tropical Freeze clone. They copied like everything besides difficulty, game is easier then any DKC and lives never end.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Price used to be 30 euro's but now its 20 euro's and it has more content! I even got ot for a 80% discount hence i bought it. Now after finishing the game i can tell its worth every euro, i would have bought it for 20 aswell. Good platformer, love the art style, love the music and the dino world made it even better. Got a real nostalgic feeling playing this game. Hope there will be a sequel or more new content. 1 achievement (Leeroy jenkins) is bugged for me tho. Hope it will be fixed soon…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An amazing platformer. The level designs are great, the gameplay is fantastic, this should have gotten way more love than it has.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Plays a lot like DKC, minus the difficulty. Enjoyed my time with it but my save file got wiped, home menu only offers to start a new game. Checking the forums, this is a common issue which has never been fixed. I don't feel like replaying the entire first world up to where I left off, especially when it seems likely I'll just lose the save file again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Marsupilami: Hoobadventure is probably the best Donkey Kong game since Tropical Freeze that you haven't played. Sidenote, Bluesky's video limits suck and I hope they change them soon.
positive · AI labelView post →Belgian Comic Strip character's game evokes Donkey Kong Country Marsupilami is a long established comic strip character dating back to the 50s', this game adapts the character into a platformer which plays similarly to the Donkey Kong Country(DKC) games. There's the usual collectables, secrets, there's birds which gulp you up and launch you like the barrels in DKC, jumping on enemies to get across gaps and other related tropes. Difficulty and Play Though this is less frustrating than those…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is very underrated if you like donkey kong and crash games this game has the best of both worlds the only downside is the short length of the game and the very bad optimization the frame pacing is horrible and it lacks some important graphical settings
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The DKC Comparison: I picked up this game because it resembles the Donkey Kong Country series, Returns & Tropical Freeze in particular. You have a jump and a roll attack. You don't technically have the ability to jump out of your roll at any moment, but there is a very forgiving coyote time in this game, so you can effectively roll-jump everywhere. You can actually roll forever on the ground by rapidly pressing the roll button. If you are standing still and press the roll/attack button, you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boldly asks the questions "what if Donkey Kong Country was pretty chill instead of rage inducing?"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Did you play Donkey Kong Country Returns? Would you pay $20 for a slightly too easy level pack with slightly worse movement tech? I would. Donkey Kong Country Returns is amazing, and this game being truly comparable to it is a very high accolade.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game genuinely is amazing. A must have for any Donkey Kong Country fan
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first I was afraid this would be a Playskool version of Donkey Kong Country. The first world is painfully dull, to the point that I considered not continuing. Even the music was too candy-sweet beebop. But I persisted, and I’m glad I did. It’s not Playskool, more like DKC-lite. I consider that a good thing; DKC was masochistic. With Marsupilami, the later levels aren’t hard, but they provide enough challenge and rhythm in the platforming that it’s definitely enjoyable. The music improves…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun simple platformer, has some fine speedrunning potential. Quite easy, the challenge comes from the colectaton side of the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →been playing something called Marsupilami Hoobadventure the last couple days, which is apparently a licensed game based on a French comic strip/cartoon I’ve never heard of and it turns out… it’s actually really really good? it’s a full-on Donkey Kong Country rip-off but they really nailed it
positive · AI labelView post →Excellent and beautiful 2d platformer. Tight controls, a bit too easy maybe. But just a lot of fun and deserves a bigger audience.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No support for cloud save? Really? I know it says it supports Steam Cloud, but I lost my progress twice (never happened before on any other game). I would not recommend if you plan to play between PC and Steam Deck. Otherwise nice game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Donkey Kong and Rayman, this is for you. Marsupilami is a little hidden gem with beautiful art, nice music and a pretty satisfying level design. If you are in for 100%, it can also be quite challenging. While the game is a little short (3 worlds + special world), you'll enjoy about ~10 hours of fun as a completionist. This is an A+ platformer :) Highly recommend it, especially on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So for #BlackFriday, I bought #MarsupilamiHoobadventure. It was $3.50 or so. A pretty alright 2D platformer. Reminds me of somewhere between Rayman Origins and a Sonic game. Don't know if it's worth full price, but it's fun at this price point. Not sure if it was ever a 90's game remade, or someone dug this IP out for its first #VideoGame. Also, ive been calling it Marsupilami Badonkadonk because I couldn't remember the subtitle at first. #TourmaPlays #VideoGames #Marsupilami

positive · AI labelView post →A really underrated colorful platformer with a popular Belgian comic character. I honestly had never heard of him before, but he's basically a leopard or cheetah with a super long tail that can grab on to things, use as a fist and punch, or even go around him and take things out while running similar to a Sonic spinball. The game plays similar to the Donkey Kong Country series from the SNES. This game even includes a free dlc with 10 levels that are definitely worth playing. They are dinosaur…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This weekend, I'm back into PMD on Friday to keep doing post-game content and see how far I get! (If it gets tiresome, please let me know) Sunday I try a new game recommended by @pieman24601.bsky.social, it is Marsupilami Hoobadventure! I have no idea what that series is but looking forward to it!
neutral · AI labelView post →Marsupilami was a fun cartoon from back in the day and with a great Intro music, i'm not 100% sure if those 3 characters are the kids from the cartoon show but asides from that the gameplay is really smooth, if you are itching for a Donkey kong country game, i recommend this game, it is fantastic! the only problem that i had was the resolution being stuck at 1080p, that doesn't bother me because the gameplay is solid
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was overall decent, the level design towards the end of World 3 and especially the Hidden World can be pretty frustrating, but I'm leaving a negative review because I felt swindled by the developers. The first thing you'll notice is that this game is basically just Donkey Kong Country Returns but with a grappling hook, it's the exact same as a Donkey Kong Country game both in character feel and level design for the first world, and then the second world rears its ugly head. The game…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Marsupilami: Hoobadventure is probably the best Donkey Kong game since Tropical Freeze that you haven't played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Marsupilami: Hoobadventure surprised me with its charming balance of simplicity and challenge. The controls are straightforward, which makes it easy to jump in, but you’ll still need to stay sharp for some of the trickier levels. With options like a “no injury” mode, it’s perfect for younger players and newcomers, yet it still has plenty to engage experienced platformer fans. Gameplay: Simple but satisfying. There’s enough variety to keep you focused, and the game has a welcoming difficulty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a shameless imitation of Retro Studios' Donkey Kong Country games, from the art style, the whimsy, the island-based world map, the level design, the rolling (including the mid-air roll jump), the time trials, the hidden collectibles (complete with hidden areas that uncover themselves when you breach them), and even right down to the unlockables being concept art, dioramas, and music tracks. Fortunately, it's a worthy imitation. While it's generally quite a bit easier than Retro's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice classical platformer. Easy beatable in 3-4 hours for experienced gamers, but enjoyed every minute. Good introduction for young players to the platformer genre as the controls are very intuitive.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MARSUPILAMI offers a little bit of everything for platforming fans. At its core this is a Donkey Kong Country-inspired platformer with tight controls and some fun challenge levels. You can breeze through the base game in a few hours with minimal frustration. A host of achievements and a time trial for each level give more experienced gamers an excuse to sink more time into the game.
