As of Today 11/20/25 Fulqrum Publishing Formally 1C Company contacted the Call to Arms Devs and sent a Cease and desist for all workshop content with any MOW assets and they did this strictly so people would buy the new MOW2 and whatever Trash they put out after, I WILL NOT be buying that game and i will be reposting this review to EVERY MOW game until this is reverted, YOU do not get to control the Steam workshop. …

Men of War Assault Squad is the best WW2 real-time tactics game! I've been following this game series ever since the original 'Soldiers Heroes of WW2'. When I tried the demo back then, and realized that you can take the shells out of your broken tank to load a stolen anti-tank gun, and you can scavenge the fallen bodies for weapons and ammunition, and you can take cover behind virtually everything, and you can drive …

Men of War: Assault Squad is where the series really leans into what it does best: brutal, small-scale WWII tactics with an almost ridiculous level of control. There’s no big scripted campaign with heroes and cutscenes – instead, you get a bunch of open, replayable skirmish missions where the fun comes from how you choose to approach the battlefield. You’re given a handful of squads, a few vehicles, and then it’s up …

I was very addicted to the game at first and it was a really fun gameplay loop due to getting troops and tanks and positioning them in strategic places and slowly making your way across the map. Eventually however the missions all started to feel the same. The last command post was always protected by anti tank guns and tanks would always come out after every new command post captured. The troops would also do weird …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just play Gates of Hell. Better game and not published by Russian company promoting war in Ukraine. Newest Men of War failed so badly that just to screw up players they demand GOH devs to remove mods who use 2014 assets from this gmae
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worked fine in past years, but currently on Windows 11 suffers from constant runtime errors. Tried multiple fixes, driver updates, dx11 etc. to no avail.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the gameseries and there is not really nothing wrong with this game per said and used to play it alot back in the day and have happy memories from it and i have nothing against Digitalmindsoft but Fulqrum Publishing who is the publisher decided to go full nuclear with this statement. If your mod uses anything from a game that has "Faces of War/Men of War" in the name, we need your mods to be updated by the end of the week to remove any copyright-infringing content. Great so since you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →‘Men of War: Assault Squad’ (2011) is a colossal disappointment when it comes to its single-player campaigns. While the multiplayer component might be the best in the franchise, striking a perfect balance between ‘Men of War’ (2009) and ‘Men of War: Assault Squad 2’ (2014), the campaign experience is so dreadful that it completely saps any enthusiasm for the multiplayer. The campaigns are an exercise in tedium and laziness. Each of the five campaigns (United States, Germany, Commonwealth,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Men Of War franchise is a game that belonged to my childhood, I played the CD versions for a long time. In my opinion and from my analysis of games of the same style, this game and all the games in the Men Of War franchise are the best. I just have to add that the heroic difficulty in this version is stupidly ridiculous, every enemy tank insta kills you...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →no single player campaign, just a set of skirmishes, all sets are very similar and u get only worse units, AI sends waves of soldiers to get optionally slaughtered and occasionally some armor, enemy has longer gun range and better aiming (high probability of first hit with first shot compared to my units), maps are stupidly narrow, dominated by well placed guns, usually with no way to flank these positions, second half of map is always controlled with enemy artillery, units shoot as if there is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So here's the thing I've played several Men of War games already right like the older, classic ones and I even played Faces of War which as far as I know came out even before the Men of War series truly became a thing right. In those older Men of War games I thought the difficulty get annoying at points but you could still win either by spamming ♥♥♥♥ out until you overran the enemy defenses or by getting a big enough cannon and blowing ♥♥♥♥ up from far away. Faces of War was the only one where…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was great for its time, but I can not recommend buying it because Assault Squad 2 improves upon it in many ways. The sequel has an improved squad management UI, automatic ammo resupply, steam workshop, multiplayer over steam, and unit veterancy. However there are 5 things I like better about this game over the sequel which are the balance, infantry models, lighting, health bars, and building transparency. To start off with, the overall balance in this game feels similar to the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've still got a printout of a bit of feedback you gave me 16 years ago. A breakdown of sentences I had written in a preview of a Men Of War game, so surgically precise it was worth carrying into everything I wrote afterwards.
neutral · AI labelView post →The game Itself has a few bugs due to not being updates in 5 years... but it still is amazing the one thing im disapointed in is theres no Sandbox :(
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome RTS with great realistic aspects and physics.

neutral · AI labelView post →Review of Men of War: Assault Squad I had been looking forward to this game, expecting an exciting tactical experience with the possibility of base building and resource management. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met, and I was very disappointed. What I Thought: I thought it would be a strategy game with elements of base construction, expansion, and long-term planning, similar to classic RTS games. But it turned out to be entirely focused on tactical combat without the ability to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Men of War: Assault Squad takes the series in a different direction. Instead of focusing on a traditional story-driven campaign, it doubles down on what has always made the franchise special: pure tactical gameplay. The classic Men of War formula is still here. Every soldier, vehicle, weapon, and shell matters, rewarding careful planning, smart positioning, and resource management. The new skirmish missions offer an incredible amount of replayability, with objectives ranging from desperate…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would love to enjoy this game but it keeps crashing. I cannot even play a whole mission.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i perfer Men of war assault sqaud 2 but this is good, MOWAS 2 is where u can play the star wars mod
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →played for 64 hours,lost 60000 men 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun RTS. Simple Format, decent amount of content.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too much runtime error crashes
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Each battle feels like a tiny WW2 documentary that you’re actively screwing up, the kind of chaos where a single sniper behind a bush can change the outcome of an entire frontline. The level of control you get is absurd, the terrain destruction isn’t just visual, it impacts cover and flanking but cooperative missions is where the game really shines.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wish they made more of this type of old games for old folks like me that are simple to play that had more war scenes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How ti fix the visual c++ runtime error? been having this problem since day one, pls help
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished the base US Campaign on Heroic by myself. It took about 20 hours for the first two missions before it really clicked how to abuse the game enough to make progress. Pretend your Sherman Tank is Neo from the Matrix, its the one, it'll dodge every missile and AT shell that flies your way, as long as you keep abusing the saving and reloading. The AI doesn't understand why it can't hit my slow tank, it only goes up to 29mph in real life and yet its destroying all of it's defences…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game really shows you what suck it up buttercup really means
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →typical men of war, repetitive battles
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →God awful game from top to the bottom. Even ten years ago, when "Men of War" series shined and could easily compete with "Company of Heroes" and other tactical games - "Assault Squad" already looked lame due to lack of common story campaings and any kind of different maps for both single- and multi- player. In fact - main game mode of "MoW AS" provide literally the same group of maps for all nations, they just look slightly different in terms of vegetation and housing. Other multiplayer modes…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lifechanging game. before i played this game every member of my family hated me now everyone loves me and i have a lot of friends
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun purely from a simple perspective - if you dig into any intricacies in the game it becomes worse; your units behave like morons and take every command as a suggestion, your units will miss every shot they take and almost always die instantly while its almost always the opposite for the enemy AI
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Suck a game, everytime I played this game always have same problem and the problem is not fix by developer for long time. I need my money back
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →people must have been starved for RTS when this came out to get a positive review, infantry stops to stand out in the open when you give move orders, tanks commanders jump out and die when you dont order any jumpouts, medics stand around with injured/dying units around them. Garbaj
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MOW: Assault squad is an unforgiving RTS. If you want a hardcore stategy experience, this is it. The skirmish mode features German, Japanese, Soviet, British and American missions, each with 14 levels in different terrains meant to challenge your thinking skills on how to approach each objective. Even on easy difficulty some missions can pose a challenge since you are required to always be prepared for an enemy counter attack. If you can't afford the second game, or if your pc specs aren't good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blows
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →amazing game, needs map editor. or maybe i'm just too stupid to realize there is one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is the equivalent of going to officer school
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first Company of Heroes, the sequels are more like the later Dawn of War games. Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront. WW2 RTS similar to the Men of War series. Starship Troopers: Terran Command. It's kind of like the first Dawn of War game, but in Starship Troopers.
