Love the game hate the mission, especially the Vietcong mission no 2 "Vietnamese Connection" you get constant crash regardless of any method you tried to prevent the game from crashing making the Vietnamese campaign "unplayable". On the bright side is this game is only worth on discounts and/or if you're hunting for steam achievement in this game then yes, everything else than that, no don't buy this game.

As a long-time fan of the series, I have to admit that Men of War: Vietnam is my least favorite entry. The Vietnam setting had enormous potential and the atmosphere is genuinely immersive, with dense jungles, iconic weapons, and a soundtrack that fits the conflict well. Unfortunately, the gameplay never reaches the same heights as previous titles. The campaign relies heavily on small-scale infantry engagements, …

Vietnam is a unique entry in the Men of War series that shifts the focus from large scale WWII battles to the more personal, brutal conflicts of the Vietnam War. Instead of massive armies, the game leans into small squad based engagements, which gives it a very different pace and feel compared to its predecessors. One of the standout aspects is the atmosphere. The dense jungles, tight sightlines, and constant sense …

Men of War: Vietnam is one of those games where you can absolutely see the potential – and also absolutely feel every sharp edge. At its best, it’s intense, small-scale tactical chaos in the jungle. You’re not commanding huge armies, you’re babysitting a tiny squad of fragile soldiers where every bullet and grenade matters. The classic Men of War mechanics are here: manual inventory, direct control of units, …

TLDR: Men of War: Vietnam delivers some of the best single-player tactical missions in the genre. Tense, strategic, and deeply immersive, it’s a must-play for any fan of realistic, squad-based warfare. Men of War: Vietnam is an often overlooked gem in the real-time tactics genre, offering some of the most intense and rewarding single-player missions you'll find in any war game. While it may not have the flashy …

Instead of massive armies, the game leans into small squad based engagements, which gives it a very different pace and feel compared to its predecessors. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you thought Men of War was tough, Vietnam takes it even further. Completing all the achievements is real a test of patience, this game is ridiculously complicated in every way. The gameplay is definitely dated, and the AI can be frustrating at times, making it a relentless challenge from start to finish. Like the original Men of War, this isn’t a game for newcomers or anyone without experience in tactical RTS. Even years after its release, it still demands serious tactical thinking and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jungle map, vietnamese ennemies but where is the Vietnam war? Gameplay: It’s the same game as Men of war but with a map that looks like vietnam. The gameplay of Men of War is not adapted to the Vietnam War. Men of War is boring because it lacks hard battles and that’s even worse. Graphic design: The graphics are better but the gameplay does not allow us to enjoy it. Men of War can't chalenge Sudden but it's better than Blitzkrieg. If you like Strategy, Tactics, tower defence…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Men of War: Vietnam is a strongly single-player focused Men of War game that, as the name implies, is set during the Vietnam war. There are two campaigns in this game, one following an American unit, and the other following the exploits of two Russian advisory. Both campaigns are about 6 hours long, and offer a similarly high degree of challenge. Unlike games like Men of War: Assault Squad or the first Men of War, Vietnam focuses on a very small number of units. Positioning of individual…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is called Men of War: Vietnam because it is the equivalent of the torture methods used in that war.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10 Despite harsh reviews, I decided to complete my MoW collection and give this one a try. I was surprised - the game is not bad at all. Got a few crashes at mission start, but restarting the game solved it for me. Both campaigns are diverse, with missions varying from stealth undercover operations with small units to massive battles with tanks and choppers. Generally - classic MoW experience. Achievements are weird though - completed all missions on hard difficulty, yet the game still…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been a fan of Men Of War since I was a kid, I've played them all from the oldest to the most recent, and I notice that compared to everything else I've played I found this game complicated and difficult, despite the fact that the missions are quite short and focus more on stealth combat, something I didn't like at all. The difficulty is pure masochism: anything that splashes onto your units dies instantly. The “Vietnamese Connection” mission is completely bugged, the map textures…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →issue 1. you can only play the first mission if you haven't beaten it yet. issue 2. the first mission for both sides is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! issue 3. there is no skirmish, so unless you feel like grinding away at the first mission to beat it, this game is literally worthless.. the first mission for both sides is a "rambo" style mission where you get 6 men and have to kill platoons of entrenched enemies.. literally unplayable. waste of 3 1/2 hours. I finally got to the end (at least i assume as it…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played 9/15 missions of the campaign, 6.5 of those were entirely about controlling 6 dudes through a jungle, where you have to stealth 80%+ since you're outnumbered 10 to 1 with no reinforcements. Also, as someone who has only played this game and no other Men of War games, this is very obviously just Men of War with new guns and visuals, pretty sure all the icons are the same as well. No options for skirmish too. Just buy the original or Assault Squad instead of this unless you really want…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good campaign, much better than red tide. update: as of buying the dlc to get the bonus missions, i warn you to not, as they are terrible. the main 10 missions are miles better with actual dialogue and cutscenes, the bonus ones have neither

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Started a campaign, crash. Restarted the campaign, found some "bad guys," crashed. Loaded the game, checked the settings. Crashed. Eh... I don't know what the deal is and I'm not inclined enough to try to figure it out despite having some fond moments with the series.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Keep crashing in the very first gameplay (after the first cutscene and the briefeng scene), i tried to reinstall it 3x and still unplayable
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've still got a printout of a bit of feedback you gave me 16 years ago. A breakdown of sentences I had written in a preview of a Men Of War game, so surgically precise it was worth carrying into everything I wrote afterwards.
positive · AI labelView post →As the only game in Men of War series that deals with non-WWII era, even though the basic game mechanics are all the same, the game does feel quite unique. It really have captured the feel of jungle warfare quite well with so many bushes and trees where enemies can hide and fight back.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →mow vietnam : " We need a medic over here ! " score : 5/10 anti-cheat : - modable : yep - editor included but have not steam workshop !! - no online severs - hard story and gameplay if dev bring workshop to this game , fans can make it epic .

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am new to all the Men of War: Assault Squad Games and love to play. The Vietnam War missions are hard for me even on easy. Terrain is so important and the AI doesnt play around. I think it is great. I am a WW2 Fanatic so I really play the other skirmishes and campaigns but it is super realistic and wish it had a lot more missions or like the other games, some of the Big Battles such as Hill 875, Hue, etc. Interesting Fact...the average WW2 Combat Soldier saw I think 48 days of combat in a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man......This game crashes constantly, its fun, the foliage and trees are pretty sweet given its age but sweet jesus, save often and get ready to do the same thing over and over as it crashes, I want to recommend this game but I just can't in this condition. If you do play this game, watch out for the spike traps
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not necessarily the weakest entry in the Men of War series, however certainly one of the more challenging. The change in scenery from the eastern front of WW2 is welcome, however navigating the jungle can be problematic. The complexity of jungle navigation and the high level of difficulty are the 2 main reasons why Men of War Vietnam currently has a mixed/negative steam rating. The game does however benefit from a great storyline and better voice acting than previous releases. Proper mission…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →mixed bag of feelings, but too often crashes and some minor bugs (like soldier after direct control usually does not move with his squad without moving him alone first), so no recommendation nice stealth missions, difficult attacking missions and very difficult defending missions, even for easy difficulty enemy tanks are very hard to destroy, as there are only rpg-2 (apparently useless against vietnam tanks) and rpg-7/LAW, but even when/if hit and destroyed (as the rockets are very inaccurate),…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you want to play this game without the constant crashing and stuttering of a poorly modified men of war game go and install the Vietnam Mod for Men of War Assault Squad 2. It's the same game with the same unit roster and same missions, only rebuilt inside of a engine that actually works, has better graphics and has more QOL features that make the game actually enjoyable. This game is therefore made completely redundant.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're an old fan of MOW saga you're going to enjoy the challenge but remember this is an F old game so THIS IS NOT A MOW ASSAULT S 2 or Call to arms, this is more mechanic and oldie style. 1. the game have bugs of course, but saving regularly can prevent that. 2. as I said if you played this in your childhood you will enjoy it like before. 3. Achievements are bad placed (for example having missions with 3 and others with only 1) but for sure there is nothing impossible to get. 4. Missions…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lots of wasted potential. As other reviewers have already pointed out, this game offers mostly stealth missions and control of small groups of soldiers. The stealth missions and mechanics are not well designed and that takes away from the experience. I really enjoyed the previous entries int he Men of War series. Vietnam was a great setting to take the game into but the execution feels lazy, there are no pitched battles, vehicle combat is worse than before and the game is over before it started…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From all of the GEM2 engine games I've played, this is the worst. I had some hopes because it had a North Vietnamese campaign (which I find refreshing) but it's not worth it. The worst offender is mission design. Every level is a chore to play. They took all the bad stuff from previous games and packed into this without the good. You're always against a superior force and that's not bad in itself but it is when stealth is a broken, silly slog. Also you can't see ♥♥♥♥. Unlike other games on…
