Simultaneously the best Star Wars game, Warhammer Fantasy game, Middle-Earth game, Game of Thrones game, Western game, and Pyschedelic shooter all in one, oh and the base game is pretty good too

Warband is still the best Mount & Blade game. It lacks some quality of life features found in Bannerlord, but makes up for it with much better balance, mechanics, and personality. And in spite of its age, the actual combat feels a lot sharper. There's a lot less ambiguity in your movements and attacks compared to Bannerlord, and the lances in particular feel a lot more usable. The wide variety of excellent mods is …

My cousin and I first discovered Mount & Blade: Warband years ago when we were kids. When we first got the game, we didn’t even play it alone—we took turns on the same campaign, passing the controls back and forth as we explored the world together. The modding blew our minds at the time, from Rome to Vikings, and even Samauri! Before long, we discovered the community around the game and dove right in. What started …

Critics, per Wikipedia
The PC version of Warband received "generally favorable reviews", while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions received "mixed or average reviews", according to Metacritic. Like its predecessor, Warband was praised as a low-cost game with greater replayability and longevity than most contemporary studio-published games. However, several felt that describing Warband as a sequel was overreaching and that the game is better described as a "stand-alone expansion" or an improved version of the original Mount & Blade. The feature most praised was the inclusion of multiplayer, with ComputerGames.ro describing it as "exactly what its predecessor was missing", while Nick Kolan of IGN stating that…

(Fantasy) The setting is a fictional world with fantastical elements, and a comparable level of societal progress as the 1600s or earlier. 2. (Character Creation) You create your own role: character and class. It is a permanent character. 3. (Action) You have direct control over your characters actions in real time. 4. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is no ideology and no grand cause, only colors on a map changing and numbers going up and down. Before long, it feels like watching the evening news, full of unseen pride, greed, and restless politics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ipek Yavuz has passed away - one of the married duo behind the Mount & Blade games. One of the indie OGs, for sure. I'll always remember their photos posted on TW forums, of her husband in pyjamas with his feet on the desk and her smiling. I thought it was so cool two people could just make a game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game requires a certain amount of autism to enjoy. After 10-20 hours, you will realise that you are just doing the same things again and again. But the people who enjoy this game do so greatly, and I can't exactly compare it to anything else, so I guess I recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best PC games ever made. The countless nights of raiding different villages and slaying your enemies was too much fun. Still holds up pretty well for today's standards. Personally recommend this one for sure.

You know when you look back on and think: “What an incredible game — I don’t regret a single hour I poured into it.” — that’s exactly how I feel about Mount & Blade: Warband. I’ve completed the campaign countless times, both on Steam and on PS4. Later on, I even became the first Portuguese player to earn every single trophy on PS4 (according to PSNProfiles). positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mount & Blade: Warband is an absolute gem of a game for anyone who loves strategy, action, and immersive medieval warfare. The game offers a level of freedom and depth that is rarely seen in other titles, and it’s easy to lose yourself in its expansive world. First, let’s talk about the army building. One of the standout features of Warband is how deeply satisfying the process of raising and commanding an army can be. The game allows you to recruit a variety of troops from different factions,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is damn near the perfect game. I am left speechless in utter awe of it's radiant beauty. No other game will ever be able to successfully replicate a single thing that makes this game special, not even TaleWorlds themselves. If you're into medieval or fantasy settings whatsoever, buy this game now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For those who aren't familiar with this game, it's in the same genre as Mount & Blade, but with spaceships instead of horses. Or Sid Meier's Pirates, but spaceships instead of pirate ships. Definitely one of those "I'll just make one more quick cargo run..." type of games. This update looks great. In additional to new strategy options through diplomacy, they're also tweaking how ships handle.
neutral · AI labelView post →I love this game. I have put way too many hours into this game. The gameplay loop is fairly simple, but the combat is really fun and unlike anything else except its own sequel. If you are going to play this game in 2026, be prepared for some jank and potato graphics. I recommend the overhaul mods Prophesy of Pendor, Last Days of the Third Age, and Bannerpage, in that order. The Viking Conquest expansion is also really good, but can take some getting used to.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I grew up playing this game, and I still find it amazing. One of the first Let's Plays on YouTube I ever watched was Splattercat covering this game, and I used to think it was "Mountain Blade". It's filled with so much nostalgia for me, and it still holds up as a very good rpg. Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great sandbox game. Much improved over original Mount & Blade, and with a simplicity Bannerlord lacks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the greatest games ever made. It is not meant to be played as Warband, but as a sandbox for any fantasy world you have ever wanted a game for. For me, it is the best Crusades, Napoleonic Wars, A Song of Ice and Fire, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars game ever made. It is timeless.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my abslute monster veteran game. Endless replayability and roleplay potential. I had it as CD: original M&B realeas as well as Warband. Better said I played it since the prerelease 0.7 versions. My humble 1K hours on Steam are just a fracture of my playtime. And if you install some epic mods like Prophesy of Pendor or TLD you will never stop playing it, ever! Bonnerlord is decent with some moder features that I would welcome in warband but still... my god! This is a different gem.

neutral · AI labelView post →TaleWorlds gets 25% of the credit for this masterpiece. The other 75% goes to the modders that expanded on and fixed their broken ass spaghetti game.

positive · AI labelView post →Mount & Blade: Warband – 8/10 – A Deep and Addictive Medieval Sandbox Mount & Blade: Warband is one of those games that doesn’t quite fit into a traditional genre but still manages to carve out its own identity as one of the most unique and engaging titles in the medieval strategy space. It’s a mix of open-world exploration, real-time combat, and strategy, with a focus on personal freedom and choice. It’s rough around the edges, and it doesn’t always shine in terms of polish, but for players…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is part of why I enjoy checking these games, they come from a very different "canon" and pool of references. The graphics and models are simple and not up to modern standards, but deliver just enough to immerse you in the world of Calradia. The absolute freedom that this game grants the player is its greatest strength: the story is yours. Become a wandering…
