What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 165 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (1,902 of 2,370 positive).
Players enjoy the game as a fun couch co-op experience, often comparing it to Overcooked. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the lack of online co-op is a significant drawback. [4][5][6] Assist mode makes single-player play manageable, though some find the game repetitive. [7][8][9]

sadly no online co-op, played it in remote play via steam wwhich was very clunky and laggy. PLEASE ADD ONLINE CO-OP!!!

Although Moving Out is advertised as a co-op game, it actually works very well as a single-player game too. The only downside is that to 100% the game as a solo player, it's necessary to enable Assist Mode (just the first option that adds more time is more than enough), but luckily this doesn't forbid you to get all achievements. These devs really thought about the single-player aspect too, and I must thank them for …

I didn't enjoy the last few levels (which is almost a 1/3rd of the game). Any game that has a timer but then throws in obstacles that requires you to wait, is LAME. But aside from that, the game is pretty cute and fun with friends. Steam Remote Play works fine and is relatively smooth seeing as the game doesn't support online co-op. For how short and unpolished the game is mechanically (along with some minor bugs me …

Very fun couch co-op. Great sense of humor. Not nearly as stressful as overcooked.

Was looking for something for me and the wife to play similar to plate up or overcooked, this was an excellent change up and super fun!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →do not play this unless you're in a good mood. its super fun if you just want to focus but it's frustrating if you're upset
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has great potential, but the execution needs improvement. The core idea is mindless fun: enjoying the spectacle of your team trying to efficiently move items from a house into a van amidst chaotic, uncoordinated panic. The hilarious moments of failing to coordinate, such as struggling to move a large couch or misjudging a throw and causing havoc, should be the core enjoyable experience. However, the introduction of difficult challenges and time constraints detracts from this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm taking a break from Metroid Prime 4 to play the delightful Lil Gator Game. Played most of it on gamepass before it was pulled, can't wait to get the DLC. Also playing Tools Up with my kid since she loves Overcooked and Moving Out. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
positive · AI labelView post →Me and a bunch of friends bought this game to play together thinking that it would have online co-op. However, it does not, granted I should have checked if it did or not but I feel like this style of game NEEDS online co-op as the game seems like a bunch of fun but not having it means that many will not be able to experience the game. The game not having online co-op really confuses me as the game was released mid COVID pandemic where people would not have been able to play a couch co-op game.…

Big love to @fabiablo.bsky.social for the raid, you're awesome! We raided @lethalyarn.bsky.social and @snokaygalactic.bsky.social playing Moving Out for Yarn's birthday!

neutral · AI labelView post →Honestly a really good game, but its not an online co-op so you have to play local or through steam. Graphics are cute and gameplay is fun if you have a good connection when sharing the game. BE WARNED however, L shaped couches are tricky to manoeuvre through doors/windows ect and may cause you partner to have a breakdown if you don't figure out how to PIVOT. Overall 7/10 may cause arguments.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →who cares your f***n local co-op in 2024?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OK, "Moving Out" is apparently a hilarious multiplayer game so lets just call this "Moving Simulator." I hope you enjoy the cute logo, I have not done vector art in a while! #gamedev
positive · AI labelView post →We did not really enjoy this game. Coming off the high that is Overcooked 2, it just felt like there was nothing at stake for the timed puzzles and the mechanics (although they are intended to be this way) were sloppy and uninteresting. It was goofy and funny, but nothing that made me want to play it beyond the first couple of levels. Even purchasing it at a heavily discounted price, I did not feel like it was worth it. And from my girlfriend 'I liked the turtle and basketball hoops, but i felt…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Moving Out just isn't for me. I tried playing with my sister, but we both found it tedious. We was hoping to enjoy Moving Out as much as Overcooked, but it fell short in many ways.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Last: Untitled Goose Game!! Can’t believe I forgot it. UGG, Raccoon County, Tasty Planet, and Moving Out are games best described as “I am a tiny, adorable agent of chaos in a grown up world” which is why I think kids love them so much
positive · AI labelView post →Today I did some more Collegiate Gothic (PbtA, dark academia, crime) playbook moves; wrote a big list of scene prompts for Moving Out of the Girl Group House (zine game, real life events); and typed up some old notes for Rather Die Than Doubt (3-player Arthurian romantic tragedy) that I forgot about
neutral · AI labelView post →NOT vague: tonight I worked on some playbook-specific moves for Collegiate Gothic (PbtA, dark academia, crime); the group sheet to make your fake girl group for Moving Out of the Girl Group House (zine game, sad, Based On Real Events); and outlined my next newsletter (...long-winded but fun I hope)

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →no online coop... for a coop game made in 2020
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →30$ game with multiplayer tag but theres no multiplayer available, only remote play together is available on steam which is not great when the other person is not in the same region as you. Disgusting, I'm disapointed, annoyed. Do better

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice idea game , funny and fun game , you will move furnitures ... to truck.. time challenges , bonus objectives ... i prefer you play it as coop only there is good sense of humor , jokes , dialogue about boss and jobs ... (if you work u will like them xD) good for friends/family/kids cant wait to play part 2 :D note: you can slap your friend in game .. enjoy that !!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →there was a big difference that made Moving Out better than Overcooked and other similar couch co-op games: Moving Out had extensive Accessibility options that allow families with varying gaming skill levels to enjoy together~ anything less than that is lacking for a game, imo

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is very bad to play locally with your friends as the keyboard gets malfunction everytime we played. Suddenly, one of the player cant even use the keyboard anymore and we had to restart the game just to have the same problem. Most of the time, it is the WSAD button gets the problem, so if anyone have the same problem, please let us know how to solve it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great couch co-op game. Love to play with my kids. The assist mode makes it simple to find a difficulty that works for all of us.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Did more of the same set-up revision for Collegiate Gothic today, as well as getting the playbooks laid out so the info is like actually in a reasonable order and fits on a sheet of paper 😅 also some writing for Moving Out of the Girl Group House (true story, zine game, sad)
neutral · AI labelView post →Singleplayer only and some inputs only exist for controller. I really love remote local play and wish that it worked literally at all here. Luckily at least the first few levels are playable solo, so I got my $3 worth, but don't buy this expecting to play with a friend or on easily your keyboard.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Merits: ▪ Cute graphics & story ▪ Playable Co-Op & Solo ▪ Accessibility & Assistance Options Flaws: ▪ It becomes repetitive fast ▪ Some challenges are really frustrating ▪ Some achievements are tied to DLC purchase Verdict: Moving Out is similar to Overcooked, though not as involved nor as fun as the aforementioned title. I think this game is worth picking up when it goes on sale, especially if you play it with friends in couch co-op. Rating: ★★★☆☆ - Above Average
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Little Cousins approve. Game not too difficult. Maybe better than overcooked. Supports 1 Keyboard+3 controllers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I play solo, so I bought this game only because of the Steam sale. Cutesy environments, challenging levels and stress-free button smashing gameplay. Playing solo is manageble thanks to Assist mode. I imagine it's more fun with co-op.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun couch co-op. Great sense of humor. Not nearly as stressful as overcooked.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought the game because of the positive reviews and bombastic looking fun aspects of the game, but I just found the mechanics frustrating. Only played 2 levels and it unfortunately just wasn't fun for me and gave up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was looking for something for me and the wife to play similar to plate up or overcooked, this was an excellent change up and super fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun if you like being really really stressed. Which I don't. Fun but more stressful than fun. My fiance and I played 6 hours and thought the story-line was a bit boring and we yelled at each other a little (more than we usually do). Maybe not good for a romantic date night. We liked the toast head man and the disability representation/accessibility settings though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great coop game. Lots things to do.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its like moving in, but the opposite.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super fun party and co-op game! With your new role as a F.A.R.T., you and your friends will flail wildly and desperately to move furniture. It's just like Overcooked, but instead of burning dishes every two seconds, you and your co-op partners will make that one totally not outdated Friends reference for two hours straight. "PIVOT! PIVOT!! PIVOT!!!"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →James just did this IRL woah, real life is crazy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Today I wrote the next newsletter and I tinkered a bit with Moving Out of the Girl Group House (zine game, maybe out in November? that one's just kind of a casual project) and I 🫣 yet again made some notes/lists/plans for next year's gaming plans
neutral · AI labelView post →Any game that allows me and my wife to spend countless hours cosplaying as our cats if they worked for a moving company deserves a rave review! On top of that, the actual levels are super fun and the bonus objectives make replaying them even more so.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My girlfriend is a handicap so we used assist mode, it was amazing, we are autistic
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Moving Out turns furniture removal into physics-driven comedy, though the charming presentation only sustains the premise for a short time. Mistimed throws and cramped hallways generate genuine laughs in a full lobby, but stripping the headcount exposes how little the mechanics demand. Time limits stay generous throughout, and the Guava Run level towards the end is the only instance where co-op feels like a meaningful requirement. Bonus objectives remain hidden until a level is cleared; framed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the game, however I would like it significantly more if it was online co-op/multiplayer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →best game from breaking relationship
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spent most of the night playing couch coop for a game called Moving Out 2. Absurd physics chals game like Overcooked, and haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Needed that.
positive · AI labelView post →Bought this a year ago to play co-op with my girlfriend, but we barely played it. It's been sitting in my library, installed but untouched, for a year—we just can't bring ourselves to play it. It looked fun before we bought it, but after playing for a while, it just felt irritating and tedious. The biggest turn-off was the requirement to earn at least one star to pass a level, not to mention two or three stars. In my opinion, it's just too sweaty and stressful for this type of game.
