What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 153 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (3,810 of 4,292 positive).
Players praise the game for its faithful adaptation of the Shippuden story and epic boss fights. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note improvements over the first game, including a clearer story mode and better combat. [2][4][5] A few players criticize the game for excessive walking and keyboard/mouse optimization issues. [6][7][8]

Word of caution. The game is not not optimised to play with keyboard and mouse. If you do not own a controller do not buy this game.

My most wanted game when I was a kid, my parents couldn't afford a new gen console so I stuck to the PS2, always wanting to play Storm 2 someday. Now, being a grown up with my own money, I decided to give it a try, and felt like my younger version was being the happiest kid in the world. Amazing experience, great way of adapting the story, epic boss fights. Truly felt like a child playing this.

Ultimate ninja storm 2 covers most of my favourite arcs in Naruto Shippuden, with a compelling narrative and faithful cinematics. This is one of the good examples of well executed quick time events in gaming. Unironically this had also one of the thoughest boss fights not only in the storm series but i was stuck on kakuzu for days which was a humbling experience. For casual players this might be the best choice out …

A significant improvement over Storm 1. It's easy to see why this spawned probably the best Naruto games to date. The story mode is essentially a way to experience the anime story without hundreds of garbage filler episodes, and hundreds more canon episodes with half of the runtime padded with useless long shots and terrible dialogue. This game cuts all the crap and lets you experience the admittedly cheesy but fun …

Coming over from Storm 1, Storm 2 is an improvement in so many ways. First and most major improvement is the inclusion of a clear story mode that follows the story. Storm 1 biggest flaw was not telling the story directly and Storm 2 definitely made sure to not repeat that mistake. Second major improvement (Which be becomes a staple of the series) is the boss fights. Every battle really have feel like you are taking …
Summarised from 34 of the 195 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 12, 2026. How summaries are made
85% of the 153 Steam reviewers we collected recommend NARUTO SHIPPUDEN: Ultimate Ninja STORM 2. The complaint that keeps coming up: too much walking and fetch quests. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
The game received "average" reviews according to review aggregator Metacritic based on Western sites, while Japanese magazine Famitsu gave it a nearly perfect score of 39 out of 40 for its PlayStation 3 version and a 35 for the Xbox 360 version. Some sites complimented the story mode as well as the presentation of the graphics which might attract gamers or appeal to players who are not too familiar with the Naruto series. IGN's reviewer complimented the game saying, while he was not a fan of Naruto, he was impressed by the game's narrative to the point of caring about the characters' fates; another reviewer felt that some parts might confuse some gamers. The reviewer for GameTrailers found…

My Anime Year in Review: 2025 It's been a good year since I [first posted](https://ani.social/post/12545267) here, looking for suggestions after I finished Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso. Now, I'm mostly reading (Light) Novels/Manga mostly, but would like to thank y'all for introducing me to a whole new world out there. So, I would like to share some of the ones I watched in no particular order, since I don't have any preference (don't know if this is the best…

I wanted to "attempt" a launch stream for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, a game that I was really hyped for at the time because I was huge into Naruto. Of course, I had an old webcam and I've attempted

neutral · AI labelView post →This game has more walking than a playthrough of death stranding while watching the Lord of the rings trilogy on your second monitor. The story mode is maybe 60% walking and picking things up, 30% repetetive regular fights, usually with annoying limitations like no ultimate jutsus or awakening and no support characters (i know this part makes sense with the story) and 10% actually fantastic boss battles that show the beginnings of what cyberconnect 2 would do next with Asuras Wrath. If you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The UNS game that solidified the formula for Ninja Storm games to come. This covers the first portion of Shippuden and just about all of the Akatsuki arc. Removing the open village travel of the first and enacting a more limited hallways traversal yet now expands past the Hidden Leaf Village allowing for more sites giving a bit more of a drawn and detailed aesthetic. Combat is relatively the same but now has Team Ultimates. There are no more minigames, only fights and fetch quests which is…

neutral · AI labelView post →A step up in quality over the previous installment (which I abandoned). STORM 2 ditches the "Open World" aspect and instead goes for a more linear approach, although I'd enjoy if they offered mechanics such as chakra dashing as was the case in STORM 1. Even though the exploration is more linear now, it often feels sluggish due to how much you have to go back and forth, however this is a minor issue. The story itself is also an upgrade. STORM 2 takes you through the start of the Shippuden series…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Storm 2 covers the start of Shippuden up to the Pain Arc. As the successor of Storm1, this game has lots of improvements in terms of battle system, boss fights, storytelling, and roaming. In terms of battles, Storm2 has new features such as support characters who can be of different types (Attack, Defense, Balanced), Awakening Mode, Cinematic boss fights including QTEs, and a somewhat aggravating but unlimited substitution mechanic. These features make the game much more enjoyable to play and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →English Version (french below) Very nice game, lots of cutscenes, original boss fights with very stylish QTE, a hub world with lots of side content to do (even if a bit disappoiting compared to the previous game), nice music and a game covering what are considered to be among the best arcs of Naruto Shippuden. The gameplay still remains similar to the first one but removes some pretty cool features (jutsu clashes, walking on walls...), but it does introduce online mode. Achievements related…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The second game in the franchise has a linear gameplay mode unlike the first, making it more comfortable to play. It follows the story up to the fight against Pain with few alterations, but it falls short a bit with the extra fight between Sasuke and Killer Bee. The controls are comfortable, except for the substitution function, which bothered me during gameplay. Its only flaw is that it's geared more towards those aiming for the 100% trophy; when that's your goal, the experience goes from fun…

The story mode is honestly beautiful, it follows Naruto’s early Shippuden journey so well, and the cutscenes still hit emotionally, even years later. The Pain boss fight? One of the best moments in any Naruto game. I legit got chills. Gameplay is easy to get into and just fun. Not super competitive or deep, but it doesn’t need to be, it’s about the vibes, the nostalgia, and seeing your favorite characters come to life. If you love…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is THE Storm game for me. So much care from the artists to make the experience as loyal to the original series but also constantly attempts to surpass the memories was created through the decades of this show airing on TV. The cinematics, animations, expressions and voice line are really something else for me, as a fan of the franchise. There is fan-service enough to keep everyone happy while also not compromising what it should be about, contrary to the future iterations of the game…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I watched a bit of Naruto back in the day, Shippuden is almost totally uncharted territory for me. I know a couple of things, so playing a game that is an abridged version of an anime based on a manga may not be the world's greatest idea. At the very least, I liked this game more than the first one. It's still a fighting game, so it primarily sticks to that. Overworld movement does feel a bit slow, though, and it seems like most of the side content is locked behind finishing the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is much better than the first game. You have much better storytelling and boss fights in this one. The music and the environment still looks great, and there is a lot of extra/secret content to enjoy if you are looking. The free roam is the only issue I have with the game, as it takes longer for the character you pilot to go to whatever location you want to go to than in the first game. This one is also more difficult. Probably the best Naruto Storm Game purely for…
