This game is dead and not supported. I loved playing it, but online is totally broken and they need to be transparent that this is half the game not working and probably wont ever work again.

This is a fantastic game. I’m a huge fan of economic and business-strategy titles, and frankly, there just aren’t many great ones out there. This one is truly unique. It’s fast-paced, highly competitive, and incredibly engaging. No two games ever play the same—not even close. Every match demands constant vigilance, analysis, forecasting, and quick decision-making. The pace can be intense, but in all the right ways. …

Offworld Trading Company proves that Soren Johnson still sees three moves ahead while most strategy games are stuck copying the last one. No combat, no armies... just cutthroat economics, real-time manipulation, and the cold joy of buying your enemies out from under them. It’s lean, brutal, and elegant. Every resource you touch is part of a living market...one you can quietly exploit or blow wide open. Prices swing, …

Finally a non violent RTS. Build mines and other resource extractors. Build processors to use those resources. Sell them on the market and buy out the local competition before they buy you out. The maps are visually basically all the same. Real money buys additional planets. It's surprisingly strategic that includes tactical options like sabotaging rival assets, price bombing the markets, 'illegal' market …

Severly underrated game. Fun mechanics and beautiful graphics, making it a good game even in this current era

60 of 194 · most liked firstThe fun thing most of these games aren't even truly capitalist. City builders like Cities Skylines, Tropico and Anno have little or no free market and you're just in control of a centralized planned economy. The only truly capitalist games I saw on that list are X4 and Offworld Trading Company since you play as a single private owner competing with others on the market.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game, I truly do. I have put in more hours than any reasonable person would into a small game like this because it is perfectly replayable-in multiplayer. But the multiplayer servers for this game recently went down and there is no way to play online anymore. EDIT: The dev replied quickly to my review with an update- They are working on fixing the multiplayer, but do not have a clear timeline. Quoted below "Hi - I know this is not a satisfying answer, but the third-party…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly the game is just too hard for me. I get the feeling the appeal for this game is more focused on seasoned RTS players who want a fast paced game to compete in. I prefer my strategy games a bit more laid back and forgiving.

neutral · AI labelView post →Any game that I buy from steam that uses predatory tactics, however innocuous, gets a thumbs down from now on. If I have to go to a corporate website outside of Steam, or if I need to "subscribe" to something, it turns me off to the whole idea of playing a computer game. I'd rather play with a graphing calculator that I don't have the option to subscribe to something or buy DLC or buy anything else other than the game I paid for. In my opinion, the company is saying to the purchaser, "We don't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun strategy (not quite RTS) game that focuses almost primarily on economy and geo-politics. If these in-depth mechanics were tied into a full-blown RTS game or even something like Civ it would be remarkable. But, support--specifically servers for multiplayer--is dead, making this game hard to recommend at this point.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The multiplayer does work, you just have to roll back your steam version under the betas tab in game properties. You can look up which version.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Monopoly in Space, CGA graphics and a funky PC Beeper theme that somehow became a remix in ROBLOX, M.U.L.E. might be for you. Otherwise, well, it's okay, but you might be better off playing Offworld Trading Company for a modern take on it.
neutral · AI labelView post →What a fantastic game with a great and kind of unique concept. Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you ever wondered what motivates CEOs to make the most nonsensical, cruel and spiteful decisions that harm their surrounding communities for the sake of slightly more money? This game might make you relate to them for a brief stretch of time. Also it's a cool iteration of an RTS.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cannot create, join or otherwise do anything relating to multiplayer. The issue is new as of 2025, and searching online has no fixes. Must sit and wait till developers do something. On an old game like this chances of that are woeful, especially given that there has been radio silence regarding this issue by the publisher.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not what I thought it would be. Not quite turn based, but still very limited in what you can do / build. The games are over in like 15 mins and you start over. Almost like a very fast paced board game. You get limited tiles to build on and the AI opponents move very fast. Before you really even know whats going on the game is over. Requested refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It doesn't teach you how to play at all. I picked this up back in 2017 and have 0.9 hours on record....let that tell you what you need to know about if this is a good game or not.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great way to learn about market strategy with resource extraction in real time dire situation. Would recommend to others for RTS-economic strategy gamming.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game but now the multiplayer has been down for over 3 weeks and no word from the developers at all
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a huge fan of M.U.L.E. and people said this was a spiritual successor of sorts, but I'm very sad that I can't connect to it at all. Things happen in the game, and I just don't understand why, or what the consequences are. It seems that only numbers are important and the pretty game world is inconsequential.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little economic RTS game. I wish there were more games like this. One qualm that I have is that the game is FAST. If you want leisurely decision making, you won't find it here. The AI are very good at the game, and even in single player, figuring out how to best the AI provides a lot of value. The multiplayer is also very good, but you'll need friends, as the online community does not seem very active.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game inspired me to take on a carrier on Wall street where I invested all my life savings and lost everything. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very enjoyable, even as a core edition single player experience in 2026.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →disappointing not having single player
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game's unique core concept and mechanics are actually very good and would have made for a nice 15-hour game. Unfortunately, devs bloated their relatively simple idea into 9 DLCs and 255 achievements (many of them grindy or about doing stupid things). The above may sound like weird criticism, but I have a bit of a completionist streak and my attempts of actually completing this game have been gruelling. It just became extremely boring after I got proper hang of all mechanics, but the devs just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a lot of niches, but it takes weird directions with all of them It's an RTS, but without combat. It's a base building game without many structures. It's a colony sim, where colonists don't really matter. It's a business sim where hostile takeovers is the goal. I guess if any of those things sounds good, then get this game, but if you're here for the normal feel of any of those genres stay FAAAR way. If I could refund this I would.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a really good and interesting game, very different to others RTS. However, it is a little bit difficult, the mechanics aren't easy to grasp but still fun. It is really sad it's a niche game. 100% recommended to those who are looking something different in this genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Teaches you about markets in a enjoyable way.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This used to be one of my favourite builder games but lately it seems suddenly buggy. :( First the game wouldn't open properly and now steam is saying I don't own the base game anymore?!?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A hidden gem in RTS.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Capitalism based RTS
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I give the devs props for trying to make an RTS without combat, but it just feels like a generic number-juggling resource sim with a thin coat of sci-fi paint. For a game that honestly tries to have some personality (and lands more than a few amusing quips), there really just isn't much unique about it. I could imagine many different sets of settings that all would have worked equally well. Contrast this to something like Surviving Mars, where you really get a sense of the hostile environment…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dear Valued Shareholders, It is with great difficulty that we address you today regarding the financial status of Red Horizon Mining Corp. Our latest operations in the Martian resource sector faced extreme market pressures, logistical challenges, and unforeseen disruptions that have severely impacted our bottom line. Despite rigorous extraction efforts and strategic realignments, our equity has cratered, and our market position has eroded beyond sustainable levels. The cost of maintaining…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The creators of this game played a round of terraforming mars and wondered "Hmm, what if this game was good?"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I literally haven't played my PC since getting my steam deck, it's fantastic. When they make a Steam Deck 2 I'll preorder it. Pro-tip I've discovered: Don't trust Steam's "not supported" flag. It's probably supported fine, if you can enter a command line to bypass the launcher. 99% of the "not supported" guys are launcher problems. And you can play your Epic and GOG games through Heroic Launcher. Played MGS5 through to completion, worked flawlessly. Played through the Kingdom series. Been…
neutral · AI labelView post →Very fun game which takes a few tries to learn. The economic battle through the stock market is fast paced and ruthless. Feels like a trade war between SpaceX, Amazon and Google on Mars. Played single and multiplayer and can only recommend!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the only single player options to play available are the tutorials...otherwise it hangs at game launch. Also, there's no way to exit any tutorial besides ALT-F4
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An incredibly intense, cutthroat RTS where the free market is your battlefield and a corporate buyout is your execution method. Offworld Trading Company is a brilliant, high-stress departure from traditional real-time strategy design. Created by Soren Johnson, the lead designer of Civilization IV, this game throws out tanks, soldiers, and laser cannons, replacing them entirely with supply lines, resource nodes, and a ruthlessly fluctuating stock market. Set against the harsh backdrop of a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not what the game purported to be. It is not about building a colony and trading. It is about shares and wiping your oponent as soon as possible with share manipulation and under handed tactics. Very dissapointed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Offworld Trading Company is a strategy game that takes the familiar framework of real-time strategy and rebuilds it around a completely different kind of conflict. Developed by Mohawk Games and published by Stardock Entertainment, it abandons traditional warfare entirely and instead places the player in a competitive economic landscape on a colonized Mars. Here, corporations battle not with armies, but with production chains, market manipulation, and financial leverage. The objective is not to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun game with lots of different playable factions who play rather differntly. The game itself is a bit hard but worth it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There isn't really another game quite like OTC. It's got a fun set of mechanics for fairly quick strategy sessions, with games lasting around a half hour each. They can be completed against in-game bots, or friends, or a combo of both.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥♥♥ launcher pushed on me after launch = thumbs down.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Truely one of the most unique economic PVP games concepts of all time. Shame that there isnt a larger player base but the small group that does still exist gives for a very enjoyable competition
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best economic games in history, and horribly underrated. Offworld Trading Company is a masterclass in game design. It's completely original and absolute fun. There's nothing wrong with violent games, but seeing one that focuses on markets and stocks tickles my brain in just the right way. It also has a very competent AI (not perfect, but certainly not pushovers). Soren Johnsen and Mohawk Games deserve all the praise that this game gets. It's truly brilliant. 10/10, capitalism…
