Parkitect
Developer Texel Raptor
Parkitect is a construction and management simulation video game developed and published by Texel Raptor. After a successful Kickstarter campaign and a two-year-long early access beta period, the game was released on November 29, 2018. Parkitect simulates amusement park management, reminiscent of the RollerCoaster Tycoon series. A console port was released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 203 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (7,689 of 8,162 positive).
Players widely praise Parkitect as a worthy spiritual successor to RollerCoaster Tycoon, capturing the classic gameplay. [1][2][3] Many reviewers highlight the game's deep management mechanics and creative building tools. [4][5][6] Some players note a steep learning curve and missing features like an undo button. [7][8][9]

I keep deleting things by accidentally right clicking with my mouse, also there is no undo button. This is stupid, the right click delete is really bugging me to the point where I don't want to play this game anymore.

Parkitect is the spiritual successor to RollerCoaster Tycoon and it is FANTASTIC! I generally write a pros and cons list for each of the games I review, but I don't need to do it for Parkitect because I only have good things to say. This game is an absolute BANGER and I think it is better than any of the other theme park tycoon games. It's shocking how much it mirrors the OG RollerCoaster Tycoon and I personally …

AN ACTUAL SUCCESSOR TO ROLLERCOASTER TYCOON! Two kids and no life later, I am a bit late to the party, but this is an honest to goodness spiritual successor to the Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise. Very reminiscent of RCT2 but it just gets everything right. At first glance it feels a little clunky, it did take me a minute to get use to not having 3D view. But! Does it get the game-play right! The rides all feel very …

This is a fantastic theme park tycoon type game. The interface is a joy to use compared to most, and the campaign is incredibly fun and replayable. There is plenty of depth here, but not too much that you will get frustrated and annoyed. Nothing gets tedious, it just remains fun. The challenge comes with trying to sell x amount of tickets by a certain date while maintaining the overall quality of the park. These are …

WORTH THE LEARNING CURVE I see a fair number of negative reviews where people were initially frustrated by the controls and gave up even though they liked the nature of the game. They're not entirely wrong, the controls aren't fully intuitive and easy to overthink. At the start, stairs and structures higher than a story can be confusing and frustrating, but once it clicks, you can build anything you want. Literally …

Critics, per Wikipedia
The game received "generally positive reviews", according to review aggregator website Metacritic. Alex Donaldson of VG247 praised the game, claiming that the game is connected "to the first two sprite-based RCT games [as] Planet Coaster [is connected] to the later 3D entries." Two years after Parkitect's release on Early Access, Ellen McGrody of PC Gamer noted that the game "has grown from a simple recreation of the isometric rollercoaster sim to an evolution of it". Right before the game's release, Matt Wales of Eurogamer wrote that the game already possessed a "thriving" modding scene.

There might still be compelling reasons to buy on Steam, like I bought *Parkitect* on Steam because a review on GOG specifically called out how the mods really only work well on Steam, but I’m at least checking first and maybe Wishlisting the game on GOG. I have fairly reasonable trust in Valve while Gabe is running it, but I feel like I can have longer trust in keeping copies of installers myself.

neutral · AI labelView post →The only Theme Park games better than this one are the OG Roller Coaster Tycoon Deluxe, and Sim Theme Park. This is essentially a clone of RCTycoon and that's it's best feature. The additions or changes to gameplay are basically just two. First one being how important decorations are, you have to hide bathrooms and employee areas behind walls and fences, and you need to decorate your queue lines or people think your park is ugly. Second one being employees themselves, you cannot put shops…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute masterpiece of a modernized take on roller coaster tycoon. I loved playing RCT while growing up along with the management piece of the park. Tried Planet Coaster, it was good but didn't quite scratch that itch. I came across this game after scrounging around (didn't even know it existed) and it delivered. It's a shame I don't see greater awareness for this game. I would recommend 100 times over. Whether you like the business management side of the house, creating crazy but rideable…

Tightened timings or lower bandwidth have proportionally less of an impact than non X3D CPUs because, in games, they are *accessing RAM less*, as more of it fits in cache. You can look up benchmarks proving this if you don’t believe me, or how the 5800X3D smacks 7000 series AM5 CPUs around in CPU-heavy simulation games. It’s better than low-end AM5. That, and the actual latency of high end…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 this game is a worthy and welcome successor. This game maintains the simplicity of those older RCT games without over complicating the building process like some other theme park games have done. The additions this game brings to the community have also been quite fun. I would say there are little things for me that i wish this game included such as certain types of coasters and flat rides but i also haven't gone through all the mods yet to see if they exist.…

neutral · AI labelView post →Parkitect is my nostalgia trip back to Theme Park, a very cool balance of customization and very solid park management (economy, satisfaction etc). There is nothing much to criticize about it, it's well made enough all around to give you a couple 100h of enjoyment if you like theme park builders. Visuals are really sweet, just that tilt shift effect sells all the cuteness of the cool ride designs, animations and sounds. The only thing you need to be aware is that, the game being a bit old,…

neutral · AI labelView post →As great as this game is, I have to give it a thumbs down for several reasons: 1. No undo button (that I could find). This is egregious in a builder game. 2. No first person view while riding on the rides. 3. With a few exceptions, you are confined to working with squares. Even the Q/E keys to rotate your view only operate at 90 degree turns. 4. Convoluted build interface takes some getting use to. 5. Poor to nonexistent explanations of how decorations affect things. 6. Inability…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🎮Parkitect provides gameplay that closely matches the experience of playing RollerCoaster Tycoon games. The premise remains unchanged because our mission requires us to operate an amusement park through designing and constructing attractions which will bring in visitors while we maintain their happiness and handle basic operational tasks like recruiting staff members. The campaign mode serves as the main gameplay experience, because it contains twenty-six different scenarios. The scenarios…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i would love to love this game, unfortunately i am constantly at war with the control scheme (since i am unable to rebind certain actions), the horrible camera, and seemingly random bugs or quirks that make it outright annoying to play the game. today, the game decided that when i finish placing something, i should not actually stop placing things and clearly i want to spam a dozen of the same flat ride or path. then it decided that i was out of money after placing a dozen paths and one flat…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy this game. Pros: High flexibility of tools and building mechanisms. Lots of outlets for creative gameplay. Management depth at a good level. True sandbox. Cons: Very steep learning curve on deeper mechanics. Really, really, really, really, really awful controls. Score: 9.0/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have to say, I do love this game, played it every now and again since it first came out, got 2 of the DLC's and played all the official campaign missions. The only issue I've had with it is that it slows down quite a bit once you get far into it. Yes I'm only doing a review for it cause I voted or it in the Steam Awards but I would have done a review a long time ago but I honestly thought I already had.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Partkitect is a game warmly reminiscent of Rollercoaster, where much reference is chalked to that famous forefather. 🧠The game makes us play as both the amusement park manager and the owner who must develop their amusement park from an unoccupied space into a complete operational facility. From the beginning of the project, we have to work on multiple tasks because we need to make decisions about everything, which includes choosing new attractions, designing walking paths, selecting outdoor…

neutral · AI labelView post →l haven't played Planet Coaster, but my impression was it's more of a coaster builder than a theme park manager? A lot of "hardcore" players play OpenRCT 2, and for a slightly more modern take on the genre there's Parkitect. But classic RCT hasn't been replaced
neutral · AI labelView post →I love roller coaster tycoon. This is roller coaster tycoon. Good campaigns with a variety of scenarios.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Scratches the urge for the fellow Rollercoaster Tycoon lovers out there. I like the added complexity of having employee paths and things out of sight for guests. Every other year or so, I enjoy hopping on this and binge-building an amusement park for a few days.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every time I revisit this game in my library, I go from "Oh, so charming," to "Oh they let an engineer design this horrid UI or something." You really can't pick stuff up and move it around, you can only delete it and try to place it again. You will spend 20 minutes slapfighting with the placement tool trying to get a gate or something to face a certain way before deciding the whole affair is no longer worth your time or patience, whimsical music notwithstanding.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They have many addons and mods for the game. Every time an update made to the game has a serious chance, more likely than not, to corrupt, alter, or really screw up parks you spent hours building. The UI messes up in parks if you move something around the game does not like you will end up with options missing from the menus that can only be corrected by reinstalling the game.. Online advice often fails to fix issues as the game is tinkered with regularly. Sometimes they claim its some…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let's be clear, in terms of value for money, this game absolutely destroys planet coaster. It does have less stuff overall, but it supports mods, and the park management side of things is arguably better. Very good game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a spiritual successor to RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 / 2. It may not carry its name. but gameplay wise, and visually you right home with the isometric view. The game expands on the classic fomular, by introducing some staff management, with plays into the park decorating role. I was at first overwhlmed a little by it. But the system grew onto me. What I like about this game especially are: - The coaster builder allows you more freedome as RCT's (no wonder we have like 25+ years of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing and very addictive. It allows you to build any theme park you dream of and allows you to put it in reality with ease. However, my only complaint would be that there is no undo button. But, still a great game otherwise!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it is like roller coaster tycoon 3, but better. arguably better playability than planet coaster imo too
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chill fun time. Multiplayer is smooth, AND you can play the campaign through mp as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game let down by a really, really annoying roller coaster builder. Add undo. Add auto align. Add SOMETHING to prevent the tedium that is trying to get the last few tiles of a coaster to line up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fun, and I still enjoy playing it, but it is honestly frustrating how many bugs are still around after all these years and three DLCs. The grid being shown on top of water towers is a weird visual bug, Go Kart ratings only updating after the ride has actually run with guests is annoying, and I suspect something similar might be happening with other rides that have multiple laps. Then there are the UI glitches after loading, where it can get stuck showing 9,999 guests even when that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worthy successor to RCT1 and 2. Good ride builder that adds to the classic tile-based RCT builder. Heavily encourages decorating your park, which I often ignored in RCT.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Parkitect is easily one of the best park management games out there. What I love most about it is how easy it is to pick up and learn, yet it remains amazingly detailed and expanded (uitgebreid). Intuitive & Accessible: The grid-based building system and clean interface mean you can jump right in and start constructing awesome rides without feeling overwhelmed. Deep Management Mechanics: Behind the charming art style lies a genuinely deep management system. Balancing staff paths, managing…
