Many players consider this game an underrated gem with beautiful art direction and a unique atmosphere. [1][2][3] Some reviewers criticize the repetitive level design and simplistic combat. [4][5][6] Several players note technical issues with the PC port, including input lag and lack of achievements. [7][8][9]

This game is unlike the other prince of persia games Cons: - Combat is incredibly simple, and boring - Combat is very minimal, only bosses and they are boring and repetitive - Puzzles are very simplistic and boring - It is good you cannot die in this, as you would die of boredom if you were to keep repeating the already repetitive gameplay - The story is bad, nothing special - Ending is bad - There is a DLC which is …

UbiSLOP wishes they could release this kinda game in the year 2025. It'd be more successful than any of their current flops. This game ages like fine wine. It still looks great and runs great. No bs launcher. Hot prince with piercing bright blue eyes. Nathan Drake voice actor. Funny and quirky dialogues. Beautiful timeless graphics. PS. You can set the resolution to 4K via RegEdit, just google it. 9/10

I'm gonna start with what may be a downside for this game which is that it is easy. Ridiculously easy. It even has an acronym for why it's so easy: E.A.S.Y. (Elika Always Saves You). Now, that ease is mostly in the fact that it's basically impossible to fail any section, but that doesn't mean the developers neglected to put challenge into the combat or level design. And one strength of how easy this game is, is that …

To me, this one is the best Prince of Persia game that has ever been released. The story - beautiful fairytale-like story of love, duty and sacrifice. You might say it's nothing original (well, duh), but the characters are what make this game. The Prince (voiced by Nolan North) and Elika (Kari Wahlgren) make such a great duo. Love the chemistry between the two. You can feel the emotions, what they are supposed to …

It’s more about mood and character than nonstop action, and that can be either its greatest strength or its biggest drawback. Its flowing, painterly world turns the experience into a journey.

75% of the 174 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Prince of Persia®. The complaint that keeps coming up: repetitive level design and gameplay loop. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
The game was well received by most critics, scoring an 81%, 85%, and 82% on Metacritic for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, respectively. IGN writer Hilary Goldstein praised the game for its simple but visually spectacular acrobatics and combat, but noted that one must "embrace the change [to the series]" in order to "fall in love [with it]". Goldstein also praised Elika, the secondary character of the game, as a useful sidekick during gameplay and also as a likeable character with a great relationship with the Prince. GameSpot's Kevin VanOrd shared a similar opinion and in addition praised its excellent artistic design. However, many criticized the game for being too easy or…

The atmosphere is fantastic, the environments are memorable, and the parkour mechanics make moving through the world incredibly satisfying. The game may feel a little dated in some areas, but its charm and gameplay still hold up surprisingly well. If you enjoy action-adventure games with challenging platforming and a strong atmosphere, this is definitely worth playing. **A…

neutral · AI labelView post →This game is incredibly underrated. I think it is because it wasn't at all what people expected when it first came out and it is not associated with the first trilogy from the PS2 games, but it is still a great platformer and a metroidvania type before every game tried to be one. Being an adult now and ecognizing Nolan North as the "Prince" makes me love the game even more. Please play this game give it love and hopefully we can get a remaster or sequel.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game that enchanted me more than any other in the series. Out of all the games in the franchise Prince of Persia 2008 is the one that impressed me the most and holds a very special memory for me. I honestly haven't enjoyed any other entry in the series quite like this one; to me it is an absolute masterpiece despite its flaws. Visually the game is stunning. The graphics have a highly unique and artistic cel-shaded style that gives the game a very distinct character. The characters are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →most underrated PoP game for sure, I never understood the hate that this game received
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is terribly ported from consoles because you are forced to play in 30 fps with a vsync, so there is a very noticable input lag. It was worse than playing via streaming through geforce now or something similar. I was not able to accept that from a game in 2025, so I looked online and I managed to fix it with some modding! 1. If you want to have a lag free gameplay: - Open the nvidia control panel, find PoP and limit the framerate to whatever your monitor can do. - In the launcher…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this game because I was stuck in this game when I was a kid around 2010 - 2014, and wanted to finish this game to please my inner child that couldnt finish it. But I spend first 2 hours just trying to launch this old game. I dont know why Steam cant be like GOG making sure we can launch the game without any problems. (short fix, is to set your VSync in nvidia control panel to - fast ) And the second reason i am giving dislike is cus they didnt add any achievements even though they…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm having good word for this game, but bad review for developers called Ubisoft. their support is the worst support i had of them all. My account was compromised on ubisofts side and i showed em proof of hacked account and that i'd like to retrieve it but nooooo they want me to login to that very same account that is not in my possession anymore so i can't obviously login and again and again i get the same mail from them. So every game that is purchased on steam and developer is UBISOFT IS…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was my first entry into the franchise when I was a wee little kid. I remember I used to love this game for it's unique artstyle more than anything else, and after more than a decade and a half I finally came back to replay and finish it. Keep in mind this review comes from a fan who's never played the original trilogy. Prince of Persia (2008) is an absolutely underrated gem of a game. It has breathtakingly beautiful visuals with it's unique cell-shaded artstyle, the combat is dynamic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game — the style, the parkour, and especially the music — but the grind for orbs just to progress is a bad choice. I might get through it eventually, but I was expecting more.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After the incredible Sands of Time trilogy, Prince of Persia (2008) feels like a pretty disappointing reboot. It goes in such a drastically different direction that it barely captures what made the previous games so great in the first place. My biggest issue is how simplistic the gameplay is. The movement and animations feel incredibly slow, which makes controlling the Prince feel sluggish compared to the fast-paced gameplay of the previous trilogy. On top of that, the game gives you absolutely…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the new approach that the studio took with this Prince of Persia game! However, the levels feel absolutely repetitive, it seems that they lack the charm that the game never got in the first place! Although I would like to see the sequel for this reboot series of PoP game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An underrated gem. Art direction is excellent and story is one of a kind. And it looks awesome to this day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was lent this on PS3 back when it came out by a friend who claimed it was one of the best games he'd ever played. I tried it but was unimpressed by everything except the graphics and dropped it a few hours in. I thought I'd give a it second shot since I picked up a load of Prince of Persia games in a recent sale and in fairness it gets considerably better later in the game. I was a bit worried the game was going to make me collect all the blue orbs dotted around the levels but turns out you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We Have "Prince Of Persia" At Home To be fair, comparing this to the PS2-Era/Sands of Time "Prince Of Persia" Trilogy is unfair, but it's hard not to wish it was our goatee'sporting Prince on another adventure. This game, "Prince Of Persia (2008)" is more like a remake of the original 1989 "Prince Of Persia" game, as it also features an adventurer instead of being the actual Prince of Persia. At the same time, everything this game tries to do is overshadowed by what it fails to do.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a true art and gem. it release in 2008 and but still it seems a new game by quality and art design. it's for a age that Ubisoft cared about their games not like now they became greedy. + fun cute characters + funny dialogue + beautiful environment + not so great but nice short story having Elika as partner is amazing. this games deserve a remake in a true way.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite being a 2008 game, it's still gorgeous. A bit clunky, but you get used to it. A hidden gem worthy of a remastered. Don't forget the pc versions lacks the epilogue dlc because Ubislop never ultimated the port due to "business reasons", that was the official statement.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →should've received a sequel smh ubisoft. amazing, emotional story and satisfying game play mechanics. the attention to detail with the way the two main characters interact with the world is the best. shame the story does not continue
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why wouldn't anyone not play it? It is a must, even today. The story, theme, graphics, game mechanics, all hold up even today. The one and only con with this or any game which is a mix of 2d+3d, whenever there is a boss fight, combat or some key scenes, the game turns to 2d and the forward+backward+left+right keys keep changing as per the camera angle which is unpredictable. This game had soul and you should not miss it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game aged really well! Finding all the light seeds were surprisingly fun! But i was slightly disappointed to find out that the epilogue wasn't ported to PC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve played almost every Prince of Persia game, and this one feels very different from the rest. It focuses more on visuals and smooth movement than challenge. The game looks beautiful, and moving around is fun, but after some time, every level starts to feel the same and a bit repetitive. The story is actually not bad. The relationship between the Prince and Elika makes it interesting, and I liked how their conversations build up during the journey. The ending, though… it felt like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you play this game after the sands of time trilogy and you're looking for a similar experience, you might hate it. but on its own its pretty good. This game its nothing like the sands trilogy. its more of a relaxing turn of you brain and parkour type of game with occasional 1v1 combat. it does have its good qualities but the game boils down to: Go to an area, "Sometimes do a puzzle", fight a boss, collect seeds of light. rinse an repeat. it can get quite stale if you try playing it in one…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard to believe it has been over seventeen years since this released. It holds up incredibly well for its age, due to phenomenal art direction accompanying its cell-shaded graphical style. For those who played this game following the Sands of Time Trilogy, this was a startling departure from that series formula and a somewhat difficult pill to swallow for many - but for those willing to keep an open mind and try something new, there is a lot to love here. The free-flowing traversal isn't as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Going through the same place in two different realities makes a return from PoP Warrior Within. Certainly didn't enjoy traversing the same path over and over again. No character progression whatsoever. Didn't understand why I grinded so hard to collect those light orb things. Terrible combat, enemy fights are not fun. Repetitive music. And the cherry on top: unskippable credits at the end.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Prince of Persia (2008) might be one of the most overlooked entries in the series, but it’s absolutely worth playing. The combat is simple but fun, letting you focus on the game’s real strengths—its fluid platforming and gorgeous world design. Moving through the environments feels smooth and satisfying from start to finish. It’s also funny hearing Nolan North (the voice of Uncharted’s Nathan Drake) as the Prince—it gives the character a familiar charm that totally works. The banter and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is simply amazing. I’ve completed it three or four times now, and each run has been just as enjoyable as the first. While it may not have the most advanced combat system or the most challenging parkour, the way everything comes together creates a kind of magic - that special “chemistry” that keeps you fully engaged every second of it. p.s. This game does not start well on modern systems - in my case I had to turn on v-sync, but others report that it may not help
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow & The Flame (1993). A difficult game with gorgeous pixel art and a memorable cinematic intro. A worthy successor to the original Prince of Persia. Captured on a real Intel DX4-100 PC with Roland MT-32 MIDI. No emulation. #PrinceOfPersia #RetroGaming #DOS #MT32
positive · AI labelView post →What an amazing experience! The Music and the flow of the gameplay is joyous to experience
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was one of my favorite Xbox 360 games and it still lives up to the hype! Camera angles and jumping is still wonky at times but plays just like it did on console.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it gets stuck on loading screen and thats so freaking bad thing
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've started this game several times over the last few months and it has never worked. After clicking "Launch Game" I'm met with a title screen that wont progress. No combination of buttons on my keyboard, mouse, or controller seem to start it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like this game. I think the style is great, the parkour is amazing, although it can be a bit annoying at times. For example, you may not realize your character is facing the abyss instead the wall, so he just jumps off into the abyss. And you get returned all the way back, so be patient with that. The reason I don't love it, is mainly that annoying water puzzle I wasted an eternity on that I'm absolutely still mad about. And, I wish there was more combat. But, all in all, it's a fun…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →no native controller support. cannot shift+tab to open steam overlay. camera controls are set to HOLYSHITWHATISGOINGON and can only change horizontal camera NOT vertical speed. also no borderless gaming. this is too much work in 2026 to simply get this to a playable state I am just glad I got it on sale however it is still unplayable without 3rd party apps to fix it. frick ubisoft
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it was this thick
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Underrated. Graphics hold up, fluid parkour, fluid fights. Fully voiced with optional lore conversations between the Prince and his partner. It's also quite short (~12h), so definitely pick this up in a sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ubisoft is scum. if you already own one of their games, that cant be changed. under no circumstance should you support this company
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Game itself is pretty fun. Pros: - Stunning Game Design - Gorgeous Soundtrack - Graphics that hold up somewhat well - Lots of Parkour - Beautiful Environments Cons: - "Epilogue" DLC that is IMPORTANT to the Story itself is missing in the PC version. - Sometimes in the PC version, certain prompts don't activate. (Mostly when using Plates.) - Game's Story ends on a Massive Cliffhanger that's been Abandoned and left Dis-Continued. - Certain placements of Light Seeds. It's a 7.5/10 for me.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd want to give it mixed rather than yes or no, I think it's a pretty solid game, comes pretty cheap on sale (or without sale, I think it's 10 bucks? I haven't checked the price in a while). I enjoyed the character interactions and the growth between the Prince and Elika. The Prince suffers a bit much from the "ubisoft dialogue" we like to make fun of, where he says some corny lines to the villains after beating them or obvious guiding hints to himself (when you prompt it with the talk…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a beautiful, broken relic. Ah, the good old days—back when Ubisoft wasn't a total clown show. To this day, Prince of Persia 2008 remains a genuine piece of art. Replaying it recently proved that it still maintains its unique magic, and while I have to give it a mixed rating, it holds up surprisingly well in certain areas. The art direction is absolutely phenomenal, the color palette and environment design are gorgeous. Paired with an amazing orchestral music score, it genuinely…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a terrible game but very repetitive and unoriginal. Not worth being an entry in Prince of Persia series
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice graphics, art style, and environments + interesting (if simple) story +++ Boring combat, clunky controls, weak traversal mechanics --- Even though this game came out in 2008, playing it in 2026 makes its flaws stand out more. In some ways, it actually feels worse than games from the early 2000s when it comes to movement, button layout, and overall gameplay responsiveness. The core loop gets repetitive fast: move to a new area, collect light orbs, unlock the next zone, defeat an…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This Is NOT typical "Prince of Persia" It's different game sold under the IP name of Prince of Persia Game With Brilliant Story & Music But Pathetic Gameplay The Story is beautifully written specially that ending hits hard, the way Prince carries Elika, brilliantly done and the Music of this game has officially cleansed my soul like seriously, the old school Ubisoft was always brilliant at making masterpiece soundtracks. When you heal the fertile ground and that music plays DAMN Ubisoft…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the game. It was easy to dive in and to leave whenever needed. A lot of the things in this game feel unique and very creative from a gameplay perspective, it was a pleasant breath of fresh air. The art direction is fantastic and looks stunning. For me personally this was one of the most satisfying games I have ever played and this was because of the parkour/traversal. It scratched an itch in my brain I didnt know I had

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Less of an action platformer and more of a romantic rhythm adventure game. Elika counts as a player character. Also, it's a masterpiece.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →please add steam achievements
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The combat is kind of sub-par and getting the orbs can be tedious but the story is pretty good and the graphics hold up well. I enjoyed this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Parkour to save the world. Prince of Persia 2008 is a parkour platformer and combat secondary. You can't die or fail throughout the whole game since Elika will always save you. This remove a lot of tension and risk in the game. But also reduce a lot of stress since the parkour/climbing can be janky a lot of times. When you fall from platforming, you're placed right back to the last surface you were on (beams doesn't count). After the tutorial/intro and the 4 starting area of the game, that's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ubisoft Montreal’s 2008 reimagining of Prince of Persia represents a bold reinterpretation of the long-running franchise, shifting both its aesthetic and gameplay while introducing a new narrative focus. Rather than continuing the story of previous Princes, this entry presents an unnamed protagonist who, after being caught in a desert storm, meets Elika, a mysterious and powerful princess. Together, they embark on a journey to purify the land from the corruption of the dark god Ahriman. The…
