I can't stress this enough, but this is one of THE WORST ports I have ever played of a game ever. It's clear this was dumped on Steam just to have it on here because nothing has been done to accommodate it for modern PCs. From the get, the bugs are atrocious; the fog makes it impossible to see and needs to be turned off immediately, jumping in the wrong place can cause you bounce off ledges without any reason, the …

Just fantastic. One of my favorite action-adventure games of the PS2 era, though not without its fairly major flaws. Movement feels amazing, and chaining acrobatics through long parkour sections feels really awesome and fluid, just as good as it was back in the day. Critics, per Wikipedia

By the end of 2003, sales of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time had reached 2 million copies, and Ubisoft highlighted the game's success in Europe in a quarterly business report. Europe accounted for 1.1 million sales by February 2004; worldwide sales rose to 2.4 million units by the end of March. During its North American debut, the game suffered from poor sales: by December, the PS2 version had sold 218,000 copies, the Xbox version 128,000 copies, and the GameCube version 85,000 copies. Its combined sales since release at that time totaled 272,000 (PS2), 172,000 (Xbox), and 100,000 copies (GameCube). It was speculated that its sales were negatively affected by the concurrent release of…

It barely takes five minutes to fix it all up and make this classic as good as new. Note : Before you start patching make sure you boot up the game once for game engine to make the Hardware file in your directory and run Universal Widescreen Patcher as Administrator. TLDR Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, is, pun intended, a beautiful relic of its time. It is a little gem of a game from an era of gaming when live services and microtransactions didn't exist, and it takes you on a wonderful Arabian-nights-vibe journey for a few hours. Sadly, the Steam version comes with a few annoying glitches, due to incompatibility with modern hardware, but there is a recently released mod on ModDB that fixes most of them. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a product of love, passion and ambition. In fact, it doesn’t feel like a product at all. You can feel it in every fiber of this game – the intention to break into new grounds, to innovate and experiment. This is a truly creative work made by people who cared. Not all of its ideas turned out to be great but at the very least, there is a boldness here that is sorely lacking in modern gaming, specifically in Ubisoft titles. The platforming in this game is…

"Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" is abmixed bag of pretty good and pretty bad things. I'll start with the Good: - The best part is without a doubt the parkour. Controls are simple but the levels are consistently engaging and make great use of the movement despite it being very linear. By the end of the game you are required to put all your skills to the test without the ability of reversing time, which were some of the most satisfying moments. - The story is alright. It usually takes a…

The controls (hold right click to do special movements like climb up or run up the wall) is stupid. the 2008 prince of persia is a lot better.

Kinda jank in the modern day, but as someone who only got into PoP recently after playing the Lost Crown in 2024 (so no nostalgia bias), it still holds up really well. The game sort of gives me OG God of War vibes mixed with some fun platforming-adjacent gameplay, so definitely worth a play, especially when on sale - I got the game for like less than 2 pounds (God bless Steam Sales)

In the 2000s, CDs and DVDs with games, movies, and films were extremely popular in Russia, and stores (or at least kiosks) selling them were everywhere. Back in the day I only played Two Thrones, and for a long time I had planned to return to the legendary trilogy and catch up on the games I missed — especially since, according to the general consensus, they are much better than the threequel. First of all: I have zero nostalgia for this series. I grew up with God of War on PS2 and I played Warrior Within for a little back in the days, but I have no special feelings for Prince of Persia. The game itself is rough. This copy I got along the purchase of the Forgotten Sands, but I have this game on a retail disc as well as on GOG, that's how much I like it! this game is what modern day gamers miss and ask about, want a good story game/ want good controls that are always getting upgrades and improvements through out the game? how about fun parkour? well this game has it all and then some secret areas and rewards for flushing out your arsenal, and this is only the beginning i swear this game is like a gateway drug. i implore you to pick it up and try it then the others. 12/10 would play again and again.
