What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 190 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (852 of 899 positive).
Players find it a charming, relaxing solitaire game with a regency romance story. [1][2][3] Many praise the art, music, and historical detail. [2][4][5] Some reviewers note the story is thin or predictable. [6][7][8]

Easy to play solitaire game with a charming Regency romance story. Takes about 5-6 hours to beat; I played through twice, once on normal and once on the hard difficulty. There's a house scene to furnish in between the 20 "chapters" of the game - most chapters have 10 levels but the early ones have between 2-5 levels. Nice game for chilling out when you've got a few minutes here and there, as none of the levels have …

"Regency Solitaire" is a Regency romance solitaire game. I must admit, I was astonished by the level of detail it has gone in this game in regards to the historical era. The neoclassical style is all around, along with romantic elements and baroque influences. The music couldn't far astray from the art, so the use of classical tunes is perfect. Same goes for the voice acting, which is superb! The vocabulary used in …

Easiest way to put it, it's solitaire with an overall mid story. It would be nice if losing matches changed the story in some way giving you a bad ending, but it doesn't. It's an overall simple game and something to play when you don't feel like stressing or thinking about anything. Get it if you want to casually waste time.

Meh, a heavily qualified recommendation since Neutral isn't an option. I enjoyed the first half of the game and would have heartily recommended that, but I also would recommend against the game after toiling through the later parts of the game to the end. It increasingly becomes just a long slog with frustrating limitations that take away what makes a solitaire game fun. The increasingly weird starting …

What's there to do when you're tired of replaying your favourite soulslike over and over again? Well, obviously, why not indulge oneself in a hand of solitaire? Order Bella's life by renovating a heirloom mansion and finding her true love, all while laying cards on a coffee table. Jane Austen approves!

positive · AI labelView post →Woo! We just got a green tick for Steam Deck for the original Regency Solitaire. I have a core engine for all my games so after we made the sequel fully compatible it wasn't much work to get the tick for this game too.

neutral · AI labelView post →I did the meme. The second game is Regency Solitaire II released in 2024, which is 29 years after the first solitaire game.
neutral · AI labelView post →If you can stay in business a long time you may get some interesting results. For example, only 28% of Regency Solitaire's sales on Steam were in the first year. 72% were in the next 9 years. store.steampowered.com/app/351090/R...

neutral · AI labelView post →We did our first 80% off sale on Nintendo Switch and made the SAME money as when we did a 75% off sale. I've found similar on Steam on the rare occasions we tried it. Then in Jan we had NO sale and made MORE money, which is interesting. Niche game (Regency Solitaire).
neutral · AI labelView post →Congrats to the IGF nominees/hon mentions. We entered Regency Solitaire II (on sale now btw) but didn't really expect it to get a mention. It's our 15th game and the BEST game we've ever made, it's really nice, but not really IGF material: store.steampowered.com/app/2137470/...
positive · AI labelView post →FORBIDDEN SOLITAIRE Vibe: What if the Windows Maze Screensaver was haunted ...and also, Solitaire? It's got the same mechanics as Regency Solitaire (same developer) plus the crunchy '90s graphics of the Dancing Baby GIF. And also, the meta-layer of "oh no this game is haunted", which is always fun.
neutral · AI labelView post →Why the fuck was Forbidden Solitaire my favorite game of the night lol From @greyalien.bsky.social ,maker of Regency Solitaire 1 & 2, Shadow Hand and many more And the developers of Home Safety Hotline comes the only solitaire game I will ever play Go try it store.steampowered.com/app/3414580/...

neutral · AI labelView post →Very nice Solitaire
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's as if someone asked, "What if we could charge six thousand dollars for the five dollar game Regency Solitaire, but hide the cost behind eighteen premium currencies?" This is part of why I am really turned off by any game with a free to play model, period. It's always worse and more expensive.
neutral · AI labelView post →Also sorry I was slow to follow a bunch of you back. Anyway, I've done it now! We are still working on Regency Solitaire II btw. Finalising and balancing the levels at the moment which is a fun part of game dev I think.
neutral · AI labelView post →OR! you can get Shadowhand AND two other fantastic solitaire games by the same devs, Regency Solitaire and Ancient Enemy, for just $8.60. all three are great on their own and a total steal as a bundle. store.steampowered.com/bundle/6129/...

That's a winning fucking combination, one i'm dying to try. Looks evil!!
neutral · AI labelView post →In hindsight shipping our card game (Regency Solitaire II) one day after Balatro was a mistake lol. Perhaps if we had shipped it a week or two earlier more people would have noticed it.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please wishlist Regency Solitaire II. We were inspired by the beautiful coastline where we live for one of the chapters in the game. bit.ly/RS2SteamPage
neutral · AI labelView post →Wonderful, different, engaging card game! This is the most I've paid for a card game and it's been worth it! The story is fun, the vocabulary quaint and true to the times, the art is very pretty and earning the furniture, paintings and such to the ballroom is fun. The game itself has goals to achieve--stars, gold coins, combos--for each hand. It's not too challenging, especially if you stockpile your jokers and wild cards as you find them. The background music is lovely and calming --something…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute solitaire game! I enjoyed it. The story was cute/short and sweet, but the main focus was the solitaire, so I don't mind too much that it's very predictable. Cozy game for those that are insane like me and decide suddenly "ah yes solitaire I haven't played this in years why not open the microsoft pre-installed thing-" and then (have someone else) go "NOOOOO NOT THE MICROSOFT PRE-INSTALLED THING". Hard mode truly is challenging! I haven't played normal mode funnily enough so idk how big the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nicely chilled game to relax the brain for when one doesn't want to play stressful, challenging, and complex games such as Elden Ring or Shadow Empire.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice! Yeah o had Blitz Basic 2 at the time then in 2004 I discovered Blitz Plus for PC. Made 2 games with it then switched to BlitzMax and made loads including Regency Solitaire. Our new game is made with it too. It’s great!

neutral · AI labelView post →WHY isn't there a robust regency-era romance Austen-styled game? The only one I know of is freakin Regency Solitaire, and it's adorable and fun and all but come ON. There aren't even VNs about it outside of mobile platforms, much less puzzle games or an RPG or sim.
neutral · AI labelView post →OK something I can blow my money on after I launch a hit game. If people want a cheaper experience they can buy Regency Solitaire II.

neutral · AI labelView post →Very fun game. Enjoyable and the upgrades that you can buy add an extra layer. Some levels are challenging (due to the random card layouts) but you have unlimited retries. I also enjoyed the thank you message that shows when you beat the last level, nice to see that this game is made by just a husband and wife!
