What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 65 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (68 of 74 positive).
Players praise the game as a relaxing, casual solitaire experience with a charming story and beautiful presentation. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note it is a simplified version of the original Shadowhand, removing RPG elements and battles. [4][5][6] A few players express disappointment, calling it a rehash or cash grab compared to the original. [7][8][9]

Get the original Shadowhand instead. I bought this game because I highly enjoy the solitaire games from this developer and I loved the original Shadowhand. While I expected more of a sequel to the original (I did not bother reading anything about the game and just bought it on sale, so that's on me), it instantly became apparant that this was not a sequel at all. At that point I could've refunded the game but I said …

This has everything I want in a solitaire game– a story (which you can FF if you want), rare objectives and achievements. As well as buying useful items for your outfit, you can just have fun dressing up. This is so much easier and relaxing on hard mode than the original. If I had played the original now I’d have appreciated it more; the gear you wear, how you have to change that gear depending on the duel and how …

As addictive as it is easy to get into, shadowhand solitaire delivers a charming storyline and a gorgeous presentation that all resemble the hidden object games of yore that I personally still love quite a lot. As such, it's nostalgic as it is cozy in its gameplay loop: reading some swashbuckling adventures where a noblewoman dons a mask and a gun for the sake of her friend and justice, and then solving a solitaire …

If you like Regency Solitaire, you'll like Shadowhand Solitaire. I *love* Regency Solitaire. Updating this review now that I've finished the game: I think this is my favorite of Grey Alien's solitaire games. It's slightly more complex than Regency Solitaire, with an inventory system and duels that you must win to progress, but without the turn-based combat of the original Shadowhand. It's a perfect balance for me. …

It's solitaire with fancy graphics and a chance you'll get invested in fictional Regency-era problems. Want to unwind at the end of the day with some good old card game? Look no further. A truly relaxing way to procrastinate on real responsibilities.

neutral · AI labelView post →Shadowhand Solitaire is a light take on the original game that removes the rpg elements and turns this version into a casual solitaire game. I played the original, of the same name, back in 2017 and it was honestly a great solitaire game meshed with rpg elements. I get some people did not care for the rpg side of things so having a solitaire only version of the game makes sense and is much more casual than the original. Gameplay & Features Settings & features include; audio controls,…

neutral · AI labelView post →For new followers: Hi, I've been an indie dev for 20 years and shipped 15 games, most recently Regency Solitaire II: store.steampowered.com/app/2137470/... Currently working on Shadowhand Solitaire, a casual version of our previous turn-based combat Shadowhand game.
neutral · AI labelView post →This is a casual version of the original Shadowhand game, where all the turn-based battles have been taken out. Otherwise, the story, graphics, and levels are the same. The levels which were formerly battle levels are now one-up, one-down solitaire games, with a token animated "battle" at the end. Some of the weapons and clothing items from the original game were removed, as well as all the consumables. The weapons and clothing now go only towards buffing up aspects of the solitaire play.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OK, all the text has been edited, unsupported chars replaced, and spreadsheets converted to text files now in the game. This is for Shadowhand Solitaire btw.
neutral · AI labelView post →I BROUGHT A KNIFE TO A GUN FIGHT AND WON 🖐🏼 Shadowhand is now officially on my top favorite Solitaire games list because Shadowhand is one badass lady! When I first downloaded this game, I wasn't sure this battle-type game scenario would appeal to me but it quickly became a "just one more level" kind of game! Game Mechanics: In this game, there are no 10's, Jacks, Queens, or Kings, just cards 0-9. The 0 cards can be played before or after a 9 card, and vice versa. You can also switch to a…

positive · AI labelView post →I enjoy playing solitaire games from Grey Alien. It has to be said, however, that Shadowhand Solitaire is just a rehash of the original Shadowhand game, using the same artwork, the same sound effects and even the same story. In that regard, it wasn't good value for money. To keep churning out games as if they are full games when they are more like extra levels is taking advantage of the buyer somewhat.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game devs, post your first shipped game and your latest shipped game. Left: Regency Solitaire on PC/Mac/Later Switch (2015), Right: Shadowhand Solitaire on PC (2024) 🃏♠️♥️♣️♦️
neutral · AI labelView post →Having deeply appreciated the original Shadowhand (RPG), it remains one of my favored games over the past decade within this genre. Upon learning that Grey Alien was releasing a new game with the moniker Shadowhand Solitaire, I was filled with anticipation. Being an avid fan of solitaire games and having adored Shadowhand (RPG), purchasing the new release seemed an obvious choice. After dedicating approximately an hour to the game, I find myself with mixed feelings. While there is much to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not as good as previous Grey Alien solitaire games, quite frankly. But, it still scratches that base itch if you just want to chill out and click on cards. Levels as you near the end of the game get kind of annoying -- when I beat them, I feel more that it's because I got a lucky overall draw, vs figuring out a path through a hard but fair game. Some of the layouts have a tendency to just really hose you over. Overall, mild thumbs-up [edit after playing further: I'm tilting more towards…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the first Shadowhand a while ago, and enjoyed it. I am in the middle of playing this one, and it is also providing a good time. This game is the easier of the two, so I would recommend playing this one first, and then the second one. They are both on sale now, so you can get them both for around $15 for both of them. (The other one is less than $4). I have other solitaire games in my collection, but I feel like these are the most fun and polished.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After a few hours with it, I cannot in good conscience recommend this title. I've played many of Grey Alien's solitaire games as well as the original Shadowhand and really enjoyed those. I felt those were really high quality and worth their price. Given this title is a re-imagining of the original Shadowhand, I expected the story to be the same along with the graphics and engine. I do not fault them for those being so. What I didn't expect is how lazy of a cashgrab this feels like even beyond…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Regency Solitaire, you'll like Shadowhand Solitaire. Near the end of the game, in the penultimate chapter, I felt like I had an…

neutral · AI labelView post →Forbidden Solitaire is quite fun. It's like a weird scary 90s point and click adventure game had a baby with Shadowhand Solitaire (or Regency Solitaire, but with combat). It's tripeaks/golf style solitaire but you have to rack up combos to defeat enemies. But it's not so scary that I can't play it!
neutral · AI labelView post →This is the most violent Solitaire game I've ever played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my first time playing the Shadowhand Solitaire and I really like it. Great graphics, great music. My only problem is that my experience with this developer was when I played Regency Solitaire I & II, which I really enjoyed, but this game does not use a traditional card set, which I find a little disappointing. It doesn't really feel like a card game, let alone 'Solitaire.' It's more like a puzzle game. I really recommend this game and I hope everyone supports this developer.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only a brief play so far but love what I see! Much like the Regency Solitaire games, works great on Steam Deck, beautiful art, good writing, addictive gameplay. A great game for on the go, especially!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really fun Solitare game., I really enjoy the unique aspect of equipping items and armor on the main character, as well as the combat (duels). If I had to complain, I would say the writing for the story is not as strong as Regency Solitare 1 or 2, but, if you enjoy those games, I think you'll have fun with this one too. :3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →However, we struggled with sales of Shadowhand Solitaire on the casual sites despite it being as good a game because the name is unrelated. Maybe the theme was also a factor. Perhaps if we'd called it Regency Solitaire Prequel or something it would have sold better.
negative · AI labelView post →It's a good solitaire challenge, but they did away with most of the RPG and battle stuff that made the first one more fun. The base game is great, but there's less "dynamic"-ness to battles and overall, it's just easier.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: - The trait/equip system where different outfits give you different advantages in battle is really cool and genuinely enhances gameplay. Cons: - Interface is just Regency Solitaire with the Shadowhand theme somewhat clumsily wedged into it. - A lot of levels are super frustrating due to having only a few matchable cards available at a time. - I'm sorry, but the story is really bad and drags on for way too long. The way Shadowhand keeps running into more goons to fight is super…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shadowhand Solitaire on sale now. 90% positive. It's a more casual version of the original game with simplified combat and inventory/stats system: store.steampowered.com/app/3199380/...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great flavorful introduction to the Solitaire genre. My very first Solitaire game that made me instantly fall in love with the genre. The art is gorgeous throughout and the UI is incredibly polished and helpful for teaching how to play, with environments and level layouts varied enough that I found myself playing through the first 4 chapters in a single sitting. The additional mechanics on top of the Solitaire foundation in the form of inventory items, passive and active abilities, etc are a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not certain which Lord I pleased to get two Grey Alien solitaire games in one year, but I am not going to complain about even more Shadowhand alongside Regency Solitaire 2 earlier this year.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the prior Regency Solitaire games, but wasn't going to get this game because it was a "battler" game which I don't like (personal preference)...BUT, the developers have added the "Relaxed" mode where you automatically win the battles, so I got it and am enjoying the playing experience. A fun card game with a story, wonderful graphics and music, lots of power ups and customization options--what's not to like?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Captivating Story-based Casual Card Game Shadowhand Solitaire is an engaging and accessible casual card game built on the popular Golf variant of Solitaire, known from TriPeaks. It's derived from the game Shadowhand, reusing much of the same art while omitting the RPG elements (aside from equipment and inventory), which makes it easier for casual gamers to pick up and enjoy. The game features 150 unique levels with distinct card layouts, and includes gold-earning combos, equipment,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have only scratched the surface so far, btu this is an immensely entertaing game, that manages to perfectly balance challenge, progression and relaxation. The clever ear-appropriate story is a lovely bonus.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really liked the first Shadowhand game and played through a couple of times, this presents the same content without the battles so this is a simpler version still a lot of fun and a reason to play again. All of the Grey Alien card games are great Ancient Enemy, Regency Solitaire so if you enjoy this you will like those as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very polished and actually pretty deep card game. Good level of needing to think just hard enough to strategize for the best combo without causing headaches. Also like the progression system with lootable items that you can equip, passive perks, etc. Def worth a buy
