What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 191 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (3,595 of 4,288 positive).

Game saves were deleted after a recent update, most achievements can be bugged beyond saving (the only solution is to completely delete sames from your PC and Cloud, and even then that doesn't always work), PC controls are terrible (you have to play with the arrow keys) and you can't rebind them. Yet the devs have time to work on a paid DLC without fixing the base game issues...

Atmospheric, fun, not stressful. Suitable for a company where one person plays, and the rest munch chips and shout "go around there!!1" 99% vacuumed blood out of 100%

That “just one more run” loop we grew up on hits every time. Its so addicting. Short, stylish, and satisfyingly old-school.

Serial Cleaner is a very unique indie game. It’s a top-down, level-based action/stealth experience where you are tasked with cleaning up crime scenes after murders have already occurred. Your job is to get rid of blood, bodies, and evidence without being seen by the police that patrol these areas. The idea itself is what immediately makes the game stand out. Gameplay Gameplay is fairly simple and easy to understand. …

Players who liked Serial Cleaner talk about unique and original concept; those who didn't talk about buggy achievements and save issues. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
On Metacritic, Serial Cleaner received positive reviews on the Switch and mixed reviews elsewhere. Rock Paper Shotgun, NintendoLife, and Vice liked the game's concept but found the idea of restarting randomized levels infuriating. Conversely, GamesRadar's reviewer found the scenes where he was caught funny, and he enjoyed the level design. Push Square wrote, "Its difficulty and slight release content are offset by a number of options, a great premise, and some uniquely engaging gameplay." NintendoWorldReport praised the gameplay and retro charm but felt that the Switch controls were sometimes inconsistent.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, what do we get for 350 rubles, since that's a decent amount of money? 20 levels + 10 bonus contracts that you'll find, along with new clothes for the hero, by completing the story levels. This will take at least 10 hours, and if you're as clumsy as I am, then over 20 hours, as you'll have to replay levels. This is a minor drawback, although some people enjoy a greater challenge. For me, there's a lack of some kind of progression, for example, the character's running speed. In conclusion,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Since the last update, the game is unplayable on controller. Keeps getting stuck in cleaner sense with no option to escape. Pity because this was a very fun game prior to the DLC/patch that messed it up.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent premise, fun gameplay when it works, but Buggy AF. Firstly, I tend to play games with controllers. This one? It theoretically allows controllers, except, if you use a controller, Cleaner Sense is bugged. You can turn it on, but not off, at least not without pressing a billion different buttons until it decides to work (I find going to the menu, then back to game, then trying cleaner sense button is semi-reliable, you might have to try it a few times but eventually it works). Now, this…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →51- Serial Cleaner I think the cleaner had everything that happened to him coming actually The game feels like it's trying to be the hotline miami of stealth games but the issue is that the later levels are way too big and stealth takes too much patience for failure to be so abrupt.
negative · AI labelView post →A top-down stealth game in which you clean up after various criminal misdeeds, removing bodies, swiping evidence and vacuuming up bloodstains -- all whilst avoiding capture by what could very well be the single most inept police force ever to grace videogames. Starts off simple and fun, but unfortunately becomes far too frustrating for its own good by the end.

neutral · AI labelView post →Decent, but just passable. For the type of game it was aiming to be it gets done, but with flaws. Button inputs are sometimes slow, and unresponsive, like there is a delay. It is mostly noticeable using the vacuum cleaner, and interacting with interactables when you are between missions at home. Also interactables are sometimes place too close to each other causing conflicts where you will interact with the wrong object. Also this is another game that comes with broken achievements. Nocturnal…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting and very atmospheric game about an unusual cleaner. Very cool level design, annoying cameras, and stupid cops. A great opportunity to immerse yourself in the 70s and try your hand at being a cleaner in stealth mode. And the plot twists are simply impeccably lively! A very cool game, I recommend it! Peace to the world.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You are a cleaner of wetworks. You must clean up the aftermath before, but most often during, the arrival of the police. You cannot knock anyone out, let alone kill them. The whole story is an homage to famous murders. The action takes place in the 70s, despite this, among the bonus cinematic levels there are references to 80s pop culture. A beautiful game. I confidently recommend it to fans of action-quests.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the game for its graphics, interaction mechanics with the environment, and plot. In my opinion, the game is worth its money.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My review after 100% completion: This is a very interesting of some sorts of stealth action game. You’ll have to kill, then move and hide the corpse without being caught. Although this is a short game with just around 10+ hours of gameplay, the level design is very well made and addictive. After completing this first game, I couldn’t help start playing the sequel which has a totally enhanced 3D graphics with more levels. Recommended? Yes, recommended to catch this when it’s on sale. Worth…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked it, but trying to get the 100% was a buggy mess and not worth the pain (when I was going for the 100% hopefully they have fixed it). With that said the story and game play was pretty good.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The controls are terrible. Both M+KB and Controller are so beyond unpolished it's not even funny. Unresponsive doesn't even begin to express the issues. How does a game go this long without fixing that simple of an issue? It's flat unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game could have been normal if they had decided to add some management like in House Flipper, but the developers decided to add their magnificent plot. By the way, the plot is disgusting, it just hinders the game, it's not needed here, absolutely. All these conversations at the beginning of the day with mom, all these magazines and radio - all this is garbage that the game doesn't need and that spoils the game. Because of the terrible unnecessary plot, with which about the last three tasks…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great music, not a bad plot. The game is pleasant and moderately difficult. The only downside, perhaps, is the difficulty with three-dimensional orientation in two-dimensional space.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh, it's a cool theme, interesting to watch the character, new mechanics are gradually added, a game for 1 dollar.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An excellent indie stealth game. We play as Bob the cleaner, we are given various "cleaning" contracts, we clean blood, corpses, collect evidence, the main thing is not to get caught by the cops! In general, a wonderful game at a juicy price (90% discount) 34 rubles. Without a discount, this game costs 349 rubles, which is already significant. The game has achievements, controller support, and cards.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A sweet and short game for a couple of evenings, here we walk through crime scenes and get rid of evidence right in front of the police. What's interesting is that during the missions we find film reels and then we can play special levels that refer to famous movies (for example, Alien, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Star Wars, Kill Bill and many others).

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not particularly remarkable, but atmospheric and a decent indie game. You stealthily clean up blood, evidence, and corpses from crime scenes before the cops see you. Don't expect anything big from it, get it on sale and relax.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is Bob, a pancake and sandwich lover. He lives with his mom, loves playing cards, watching boxing, and listening to the radio. He works for the mafia; a client calls him, and he cleans up blood, looks for evidence, and disposes of bodies to pay off Joe. Pros of the game: Enjoyable gameplay. Interesting plot. Variety of houses. Cons: Police walk clockwise. That's all for now!!! 10 pancakes / 10 pancakes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love the graphics & the soundtrack ! fun little game, a lot of ppl complain about the controls but they really aren't that bad
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4) Serial Cleaner What if Hotline Miami was a stealth game? Instead of going into a building and murdering everyone there, you're tasked with sneaking past cops and cleaning up the aftermath of violence without being caught. Looks stylish and fun, but I'm never quite in the mood.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serial Cleaner is a linear, top down stealth game where you clean up the aftermath of violent crimes. You’ll have to collect evidence, dispose of dead bodies, clean up blood, and complete various objectives from level to level. The visuals have a unique painted art style that gives the game a distinct look. The game is pretty short, but it does have some cool challenge modes that drastically change how you play. It’s definitely a niche game, but it’s a solid experience if you’re into stealth…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serial Cleaner is a really great game. It is funny, the OST is good (may be on my top favorite OSTs, period), the level design is good as well (challenging but fair -for me at least-, I could've finished this game earlier if I knew what I was doing lol) and it has some replayability thanks to the challenge modes (I wouldn't recommend the DLC, though, since it's a "side event" of just three levels that don't add much to the story -at least if it was 10 levels per total it would have been much…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spent $2 on this. that was $1 too much.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun. I really like the art direction.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The aesthetic is really strong and the music is genuinely good, those two are easily the best parts of the game. Honestly right in the middle on this one, it's a decent game and nothing more. The controls are annoying and take some getting used to. The maps are hit or miss, some are fun, others aren't. It also gets pretty boring and repetitive if you play it in long sessions. I played it in short bursts on a handheld console instead, which made the whole thing more enjoyable. There's a story…
