What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 128 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (142 of 156 positive).
Players say this game captures the feel of the original Star Trek series like a lost season. [1][2][3] Many note the full voice acting by the original cast is a sentimental treasure. [4][5][6]

Game does not come with Star Map needed to not lose. Annoying. Was a fun game when I was young.

Set nostalgia to maximum Mr Scott: I remember playing this game back when it was new on an old 486 computer, and it's just as enjoyable now as it was back then. This game is like the 4th season that never happened, with each level being a self contained episode where Kirk, Spock, McCoy and a Red shirt beam down and save the day using a combination of problem solving, diplomacy, and action. Each level begins with …

What a great day this is! Steam and GOG.com is bringing back so many classics. The CD-ROM edition is the *superior* version of this. It also makes it easier (for simple folks) to load and play. I have the originals but to get everything in place to work. The hand drawn art is a thing of beauty. Everything has the familiar look and the voice acting wasn't "phoned" in so it feels geniune. The 8 espiodes in the game …

This game means more than anything now that it is 2016 and it's also Star Trek's 50th anniversary, With voices by the whole cast of TOS can leave a tear in your eye since now that Leonard Nimoy,Deforest Kelley, and James Doohan reprised their roles as Spock,Bones, and Scotty and you get to hear their voices again even though they're no longer alive and breathing with us.

This was my first time playing it (never did play it in 1992, when I was 3 years old :P ) I did grow up as a fan of TOS though because my dad owned the majority of TOS on VHS. So this game really hit home with me. I'm still getting into it (on Mission 3 as of writing this) but it really does capture the feeling of the old TV series. The game can be a little frustrating at times though. it takes a little bit to get …

Star Trek™ : 25th Anniversary sits at 92% positive across 127 opinionated reactions from 4 sources. Fresh or rotten — where do you land?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Together with Star Trek: Judgment Rites, 25th Anniversary sold more than 300,000 copies by April 1994. 25th Anniversary by itself ultimately sold more than 350,000 units and was a commercial hit, according to PC Player. The original PC version of 25th Anniversary was received positively by the critics; the review in Computer Gaming World stated that 25th Anniversary was "the most outstanding Star Trek yet produced for the computer". The graphics and sound audio were praised, and concluded that "for this Trek-fanatic-turned-reviewer, [the game]'s major shortcoming is that it is over too soon". Frank O'Connor in his review for Computer and Video Games said that "this is the first one to…

If you like star trek and adventure games and dont mind the age of the game then this is a good one. *Edit* I have since been informed that the manual is avaliable on the store page.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For those complaining there is no manuak. There is. If you look to the right on the main screen for buying, there is the option to View Manual. And the Map that you are looking for is there. Its not a great map from the book, but that is how it was done back then. I am providing the URL that you can copy and paste, or even click on. But copy and paste to a browser is better. Then you can save the manual or print it.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've randomly, in my moments of insanity over the past 20 years, had the death music from this game go through my head. It's hilarious when you accidentally kill lots of people and hear it. It was hard not to do it over and over again back when this game was new. Half the fun was finding ways to kill everybody, good or bad, and messing with Bones to elicit fun responses in all the scenarios. I also like watching ragdoll Max Payne falling to his death and bending through rafters, so take it for…

Not only were manuals used in lieu of tutorials for many games of this era, important information (a map with a key) is exclusively in the manual as a pseudo copy protection method. Read the manual, and once you get over the hump you'll find a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Back in the early 90s, I bought Star Trek: Judgment Rites for the MAC and loved the game so much as I was starting to become fan of the series and movies. I never knew until much later that Star Trek 25th Anniversary was actually the predecessor to Judgment Rites but I always wanted to play it for years. Interesting to note that around this time, I also finished the Star Trek 25th Anniversary game for NES which was pretty good considering the limitations of the console. I would highly…

My most favorite Sci-Fi show ever and simply the most influential one out there. And not only because it captured that certain feeling that every kid has while dreaming about space, but also because of its social importance. Seriously, the show was always ahead of its time. I do not waste any time writing about things I don't like in an episode, I'm not a reviewer or critic. I focus on the production-related details I like. I do care! And I happily block people who reply to my posts with "Who cares". 6/10

neutral · AI labelView post →This, and its sequel "Judgment Rites", are must-play games for any fan of the original television series. The last times you can hear the original cast all together. Personally, I have fond memories playing the floppy disk version on the family Macintosh LC III, around 1993 or 1994. It was magic back then, even without the voice acting (and extended final mission) included in this version. (The CD-ROM version.)

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I remember being a young child in 1993 and can honestly say this was so much better than DOOM. A Point&Click game that while challenging was a lot of fun. The graphics are rather dated and will on modern PC's be limited to a small windowed screen. Which is fine because that leaves room for a notepad file and the navigation map to be on your screen for quick reference. Now just to wait for the rest of the old catalog of Interplay games to come to Steam. This is a oldschool game and can…

Voice performances by all the principal actors, most of whom aren't with us anymore, make this game a sentimental treasure. The missions feel like episodes of the original show. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shame on the devs for selling this game in its current state which is unplayable (and at almost $15 full price for a game built in the 90's as well!) The combat system is so bad that you spend 15 mins repeatedly hitting another ship that refuses to be defeated, half the time not even being able to find the rotten thing as it seems to dart around almost randomly, while your controls are coarse and clumsy. There were instances where the ship should have been right in front of me but was no where…

Of all the many Star Trek games that have been released over the years, this is the one that captures the feel of the orginal series best. The episodic stories are tight and consistent with the flow of the TV episodes. Using the original cast to voice the game is just icing on the cake.
