What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 271 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (11,006 of 13,646 positive).
Players describe StarRupture as a mix of factory building, FPS combat, and exploration, often comparing it to Satisfactory. [1][2][3] Some reviewers find it a budget or clunky clone of Satisfactory, lacking depth in factory mechanics. [4][5][6] Others praise its unique features like power distribution and the star rupture event, despite early access issues. [7][8][9]

As of January 2026... People are really over-hyping this game. I see most of the reviews as of the current date are less than 5 hours. I can only guess they didn't play the test, logged in, walked from one hill to another and made up a fantasy in their heads. I've heard all sorts of exagerated and false hype in reviews, forums, and on youtube. Things like: "Complicated satisfying factory game akin to satisfactory" …

Star Rupture is a factory game in the same way a vending machine is a restaurant. Yes, technically items come out of it, but the experience is spiritually empty and you leave wondering why you participated. The game proudly introduces its grand innovation, its defining mechanic, its bold leap forward for the genre: building goo, a substance that takes every resource, every component, every production chain, and …

TLDR: For 15€, it’s not a waste of money and I definitely don't feel scammed. But honestly, it is very Early Access right now. However, in its current state, it feels like a clunky Satisfactory clone. I’d really love to know what the devs' long-term vision is, because if the goal is just to make a 1:1 Satisfactory replica, it's missing the mark. But if it leans into its PvE potential, it could be amazing. Where it …

Played 59 hours so far... Big fan of this genre (crazy hours in Factorio, Satisfactory, etc)... Having only played single player... Considering its early access... Would 100% recommend to factory management genre lovers. This game has resource gathering, building, management, optimization of production flows, exploration, combat and progerssion. It looks great, instinctive controls, with just enough freshness over …

Players who liked StarRupture talk about unique power distribution without power poles is a welcome change; those who didn't talk about factory mechanics are too simple and lack complexity. Which matters more to you?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I put a few hours into StarRupture and I think I’m done for now. There are some interesting ideas here, but structurally the game doesn’t hold together. At its current stage, it feels very early and in need of significant rework. Right now it’s essentially a factory game where the optimal strategy is to erase the world’s relevance as quickly as possible, then ignore it as much as the terrain allows. The core problem is logistics. Resources use autonomous pathing (routing, not delivery),…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The core idea is good: Satisfactory lite with combat. The execution isn't simply "early access" bad, it's "fundamentally bad decisions mixed with early access" bad. Maybe it gets better in a year but experience has taught me that bad design decisions tend to stay, no matter how thoroughly you can prove they are bad. Yes, you're building a base but not really because you'll be switching out buildings constantly to match what you need at the time, not just early on but as I said, constantly.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is 100% budget Satisfactory. EXCEPT: The game auto load balances everything for you. The most efficient way to play is to create a giant loop with multiple lanes and connect everything to it and then it will perfectly balance itself. This means that while this advertises itself as a factory game the core features that we have come to expect from factory games (namely the need to even a little math) is completely missing. That combined with everything being on the same level (no second…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →StarRupture is a game eerily similar to every other game I’ve played it seems. FPS automation sending shipments to corporations like Satisfactory? Check FPS survival game on alien planet trying to survive a penal sentence like Planet Crafter? Check Lots of automated defenses and an ever growing alien swarm like threat like Factorio? Check SO If you liked any of those three games then you’ll like this one. Sure Factorio is a top down strategy kind of game but the overall premise is…

Locked down comments as it seems some people just cannot read and have a normal discussion without acting like a four year old. Apologies for the normal folks. I really want to love Starrupture. I followed and played it a lot since playtests, was genuinely excited for Early Access, and after spending a good chunk of time with it, I can confidently say this game has a strong foundation… but it is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As always, I preface I have over 10,000 hours of Open World Survival Crafting genre gameplay, and the aim of my reviews are to simply paint a more clear picture of what you are getting into. 6 hours of gameplay at the time of this review: Pros: - Open world is somewhat interesting and large. - Well optimized for the most part, only had a couple lag spikes here and there at understandable times. - There is not a constant pressure to find oxygen nor food every 5-10 minutes. In fact, there's no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically a Satisfactory clone (this is a good thing in my book!) The best feature I've discovered is the elimination of power poles, power is distributed through foundations and integrated in the conveyor system, a welcome change. In early access, so be warned optimization isn't there yet. Having fun with it so far!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an early access review of the game and I have really come to love this game so far. I am reviewing this game after playing Star Rupture for close to 100 Hours, Satisfactory for 1800 Hours, Factorio for almost 600 Hours and Planet Crafter for around 120 Hours. This game is not a copy paste from other factory games. Yes they have some similarities but for me it still felt like a unique experience. Below are the list of some elements which I feel were a bit similar from the 3 games I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a bad game per se, the map looks amazing and the ruptures are cool...but the problem I have is that, personally I really like automation and building factories (like Satisfactory, Factorio, DSP etc) but the factories in this game feel so useless. You need to send everything to space with a launcher to complete tasks for a company, but everytime you complete a task, you need to put the new task into the launcher manually...Which makes you not want to expand big at all, especially…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played this game a lot as you can see. It has kept me interested by giving me various options to play with. Testing incremental improvement to factory efficiencies or finding that one methods really sucks :) has been fun. I'm an old gamer (late 60's) so this may not apply to everyone of course. The play is casual and the combat is doable for my less nimble reflexes. I'll keep playing and trying new things.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a "wish I could leave it a neutral review" review. Came to this game looking for a fresher Satisfactory, having plumbed the depths of that game. This game is... bare bones. Now, truly, I played Satisfactory in early access too when it was also bare bones, and came back and started over in full launch. I'll probably do the same for this game. BUT! The major problems I have with this game aren't the bugs that I know will be stomped in time, or things like enemy behaviours that need…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is incredibly half baked. There's no farming, but you're constantly losing hydration and food. Unless you feel like spending all of your time walking around and picking up things to eat and drink I'd say hard pass on this game in its current state
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Starrupture starts off pretty strong. The early progression system feels rewarding: do X to unlock grenades, complete Y to get a new weapon, and so on. That sense of steady, meaningful unlocks is genuinely nice at first and makes the opening hours engaging. Unfortunately, that momentum doesn’t last. As you progress, the unlocks become more and more boring. Instead of cool new tools, abilities, or weapons, you’re mostly unlocking buildings and crafting recipes. After a while, it stops…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just hope that I'am missing something but building system in this game is just atrocious. Foundations the main thing you gonna build everywhere is just pain to work with. If you place any structure on them and delete it afterwards not only resources on the belt gonna get stuck but you will have to rebuild the foundations as well. This system just punishes you for rebuilding and trying to optimize the factory. Stability and placement is just another can of worm that is better to be buried.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game, but... - Everything I build feels temporary, except for my ever expanding spam grid of power production. - Building in general feels clumsy, constantly having to take the ever changing ground elevation into account instead of the actual platform I'm working on, amongst other issues. - Progression is tedious and reminds me of games like early Nightingale and Voidtrain. - Gunplay is meh. - Character classes is not meaningful. There are some good elements for sure, like I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game however the font size in the game is so small I can't read anything. Not all gamers are in their are in their 20's some of us wear bifocals. If they add something to adjust the font size I will try the game again but until then the game is unplayable for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(update 9/11/2026) I want to love this game. I'm desperately trying to enjoy this game. But optimization is TERRRIBLE. The longer you play the worse it gets. After 20 hrs I'm getting 80 fps with 13 fps drops constantly. It's a stuttering mess, and this late in the game I don't thing the engine can handle what it's trying to do.... I wish it was good.... It's not. (Update:4/23/26 Runs a little better, but still not good. 50ms frame times is wild. Missing so many MAJOR QoL features like quick…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kind of fun for a few hours, until it becomes extremely tedious, automation is barely a Challenge. My most recent Save is about 12 Hours, half of which is "Exploration", aka running from Outpost A to B to C to A. Decided to play until I can progress the Main Quest, turns out it's currently bugged. Let this Game cook for a Year, for 20€ it's currently ok, but stick to the other Automation Games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played both public test and now the EA release. I also have 1000+ hours in Satisfactory, the only thing similar between the two is they are both have a factory building aspect... That is like saying every FPS is a clone and if you own one you never need to play another. I love this game and it seems to be getting better with every step. Remember this is the first early access edition and if you want a fully complete, bug free experience give it a little time. I am perfectly willing to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cannot recommend this game in its current state. The fact that they have a known multiplayer bug and anyone joining a host's progress/items aren't saved breaks multiplayer. Also, it wants to be an automation game, but lacks the tools to make automation efficient. Its production process seems over complicated, and the advancement system is super grindy and feels clunky. If you want to support a promising game that I hope the devs streamline and add content to, this is a good buy.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First review here so forgive! First loved Satisfactory! Starting that out because that is more or less what I am comparing it to in the genre. Also played in both early accesses. That being said: Pros: - Love how the power works - no more lines, just connect different buildings via floors or lines and good to go. - The added depth of being a little more than a builder only - mobs attack base, build defenses, etc, feels nice. - Different platform and building bases is interesting and I like…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hesitant positive recommendation. The game is shaping up to be something great, I think. The rail system is pretty fun, and it's a push-pull logistics system from the get-go, which I definitely appreciate. If you want, every rail can be a sushi-"belt", and it'll "never" mess up! The star "rupture" system is fun, an enjoyable pyrotechnics display that forces you back indoors for a minute or so. You can use this time to deal with your science, craft more ammo, decide if you want to swap out…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played in the playtest and now playing solo in EA. StarRupture has huge development potential - the loop (building, automation, exploration and the mobs) it is really entertaining and engaging. Cannot wait for the future updates and the plot. *music is lovely and building the s-f athmosphere and immersion. I am looking forward to see how this game grows and now going back to Arcadia!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While game definitely has a potential, currently it feels like an abandoned project. Last 3 patch notes could be summarized to "Adjusted font size", while game has quite few major bugs people keep reporting about. We have no idea if its being worked on or not, when the actual fixes come out or is this it. Can't really recommend this game at the moment.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*** IMPORTANT WARNING FOR NEW PLAYERS *** I had 2 seperate sessions for a collective 6 hours of gameplay - autosave never worked in the first session and manual save wouldn't work in the second. Went onto various forums to see what the dealio was and it appears some users have to run this game as Admin in order for you to be able to save. Whatever you do, test your saving capability early on. Just want to save others from lost hours of gameplay and getting a seriously bad taste in your mouth…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not recommended, at least not in its current state. I really wanted to like Star Rupture, and for the first few hours I did. The early game has potential, and I can see the appeal for people who enjoy factory-building games like Factorio. However, the further I progressed, the more the game started to feel unfinished, frustrating and poorly balanced. My longest save is around 20 hours, and I am currently close to upgrading to level 3 rails, so I feel I have played enough to form a fair…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a review from someone who hasn't played all of the game yet. Please take what I say with a grain of salt. After 11 hours of this game, I can safely say that this game leaves MUCH to be desired. Is it a bad game? No. Are there mechanics I really wish just weren't there? Absolutely. The main problem I've had is clunkiness and the lack of quality of life. It feels impossible to be efficient with the pull system as things are due to rail limitations and building speeds. Building feels…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looks like a factory game, because it's a factory game. At least one person in your party is going to have to play factory pattycakes. There's also an expectation of exploration and combat, and I'm sure that's been brought up in a gajillion reviews to date. And I still feel the need to write that. So this is a game about factory pattycakes, roaming the map, and blasting on monsters who have the nerve to bother you mid-roam. You can do it coop, and you have a choice of one of four…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is like a cluster of OK games, its a mild shooter, mild factory game and a mild survival game. It does nothing well all the mechanics are shallow. When the game comes out it may be amazing but atm its just a mid game.

(Has it seriously been 4-1/2 months?!) Life has been interfering with my gaming lately, and my list of games I want to review is only getting longer and more daunting. Then, *StarRupture* released 3 days ago! I've been anxiously awaiting this game for a while now. I participated in the playtest in July 2025 and I've been excited for this early access to drop on Steam. My…
neutral · AI labelView post →I cannot recommend this game in it's current state. The combat is fine, not great, kinda buggy at times especially turrets, but whatever; however the factory building part is just a mess and there are some very baseline design concerns that would require massive reworks to become sensible. The entire rail logistics system is horrible and starts to cook absolute inevitable spaghetti once you get to 3+ input recipes if you expect to create anything at remotely reasonable rates. The unimaginable…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tldr I’ve had a lot of fun, it feels like early access, I have high hopes. It could become on par with satisfactory but it isn’t there yet. Proper combat is a nice addition to the factory formula. If this was a full release, I don’t think I would recommend. 9/10 as an early access. 5/10 as a full game. Cons: Building snapping feels bad. A lock and nudge feature would help. Foundations: As people have mentioned, the foundation system is frustrating. Buildings snap into foundations, then…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing just singleplayer. So far 1 crash/freeze of the game. Several bugs though (including missing wall on the map). Performance is ok (stuff like microstuttering of your items on a rail or the complete freeze for a few seconds every time the game autosaves). This game is similar to Satisfactory, but with very annoying survival elements and way more fighting. Gameplayloop is "build a production-line and explore (to find blueprints/stuff to eat & drink/datapoints and way too many enemies)…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Early Access Review StarRupture is a good game that could become a very good game. The obvious comparison is Satisfactory. StarRupture lacks Satisfactory's signature verticality, but replaces that with much better feeling combat (an a lot more of it). And, of course, StarRupture's signature is replacing the normal day/night cycle with a fiery destruction/regrowth cycle that necessitates having nearby shelter when the next firestorm is incoming. The world is not as colorful and exotic as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played enough of the demo and playtests to to know this has all the elements of being a good factory/automation game. And for the launch price, it's a no brainer if you have any interest in this genre at all. I'm assuming they'll add game settings to tune the difficulty and less interesting (to me) survival elements. Right now, it could use a bunch of QOL like UI scaling, controller support, but devs have said this is on the way. Core gameplay is solid and I'm sure will get plenty of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh hai!! New automation sci-fi game just came out!! Lets play StarRupture!! @starrupture-game.com ! twitch.tv/smashley
neutral · AI labelView post →It feels a lot like Satisfactory but with better combat and no need for power lines. The early game progression is a bit slow, especially in single player, but it does speed up once you get reliable supply lines and storage built. Is it is good as Satisfactory? Not yet, but then again, Satisfactory really did come a long way since its early access beginnings, too. I'd say just let them cook and see what they can serve up. It's a great start. I'll update this later as early access progresses.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →while its very fun, if you try and put foundations or ceilings all in one big attached web, it will start to lag the game very quickly
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6 hrs into this. I expected it to feel like some other games. StarRupture has captivated me and sucked me in to a point where i am wanting to sacrifice sleep... for an older guy, thats saying a LOT... i like my sleep. with only 6 hours played i am already at the point of saying the game is "well worth it's cost". Zero regrets about buying it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far a great balance between Astroneer and Satisfactory but more interesting because this game has enemies and guns!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's Early Access yes, and it has promise, but it shouldn't have been released even in Early Access before basic build functionality was introduced. So many basic issues that should be fixed but are being skipped over. Want to delete a single line and re-add it? no, you have to rebuild the entire series of lines halfway across the map. "Rewards" like the large habitat are unattainable because the system doesn't count any of the windows that have been added. The list goes on, but the wrong…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review is during Update 1 of the Early Access period so things may change in future updates. Simply put, this game is not fun. It is like they took a bunch of mechanics and ideas from other games such as Satisfactory and Factorio and tried to change them, making them less fun. Here is how I feel about this game: * The rail system. This is a cool concept, You can dogpile all sorts of things onto a rail and it will only be active when a pull command is in the request queue. The…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall I've really enjoyed the majority of my 50+hrs with it. However, as time wore on numerous annoyances became frustrating enough that acquiring the last few techs just feels like a pointless chore. As someone with hundreds of hours in Factorio, the building/automation elements are what appealed to me the most and these are good, albeit in dire need of a number of QoL enhancements. Most notably we desperately need the ability to undo and the ability to just delete things instantly (no hold…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am having a lot of fun with the game, some of the reviews are from the game's earlier development stages (i think?) because the negative things just aren't there. One review mentions there is no quick swap inventory items?? You double click the item, and then complains about pressing 'E' to pick up everything, nope, just plants. The game runs really smooth and I have not experienced any bugs or crashes so far. I will update this review if I run into anything of course but for right now,…

I selected “I do not recommend” because, at this stage, I cannot recommend it. Below are the reasons for that decision. I will separate my feedback into pros and cons. Pros The core idea is solid. A building and mining–focused game combined with gun combat has strong potential. The concept itself works; however, the execution needs significant improvement. Cons Companies and Research Choosing a corporation…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you come from other logistics games like Factorio or Satisfactory, you will quickly learn that logistics in Star Rupture feel half-baked. The logistics in this game desperately want to be the cool alternative to belts but end up feeling like busywork with extra steps and hidden bottlenecks. Try creating bypass or express lanes for clogged lines? Nope, won't fix anything as items on rails will continue to take the same congested route instead. In games like Factorio and Satisfactory, the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Didn't know I was into "factory" type games until I looked at clock and it was 7AM. Environments look beautiful. Controls and movement is a bit clunky. Factory management and building is great. Character banter makes it a bit lively if you solo. Much more fun in co-op with friends. Spent 5 hours just managing and building, pistol combat is great but haven't tried other weapons yet. It's fun for an early access game. If you don't have anything important planned in next few days, try it out. I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do i reccomend this game? yes and no. Yes- if your playing singleplayer its a great game thats different from most factory builders no- for 3 reasons 1- stability {just remove it already} 2- the lag when theres just too much built 3- multiplayer optimisation. i primarily played in multiplayer with 1 other. at some point it got way too laggy to feasibly play the game comfortably. the host immediately drops to 50% frames on 2nd player joining. the game functions better when you download…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I clocked up a decent amount of hours on Star Rupture; I'm not sure how much of it I actually enjoyed though. The first slightly concerning thing you'll notice is the tutorial showing you how to make basic building materials. You do this by rubbing the two basic ores together and - presumably - making lego. Almost everything you build in the game will be made from this lego - habitats, drills, fabricators, 'belts', guns. You get a more advanced building material later on for a handful of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall: Solid framework, needs a lot of polish. Recommend to keep an eye on development if you're a factory fan that wanted some more dakka in your building game. I have a good chunk of time in Satisfactory and that's my biggest area of comparison for this game. It's clearly doing some stuff differently, so take stuff regarding the combat/base defense on its own. Pros: * Looks great, movement is pretty good, gunplay is okay but nothing mindblowing * Building is very snappy. Everything…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a cool game, but I can't recommend you play it in this state. There are ALOT of quality of life things that need to get added before this game becomes fun for most people. Simple things that most games like Factorio, Satisfactory, DSP, etc have built in like being back to copy/paste the recipe from one building to another. Having to run to each building and manually click into a submenu to pick the recipe gets old very quickly. I do like the rail system which is PULL demand instead…
