I don't think I've ever seen an RTS game capture the spirit of an older movie as well as this game has. Would you like to know more?

Starship Troopers: Terran Command sits at 79% positive across 239 opinionated reactions from 4 sources. Fresh or rotten — where do you land?

Critics, per Wikipedia

Starship Troopers: Terran Command received mixed reviews on Metacritic. IGN called it "a competent asymmetrical RTS" but criticized the lack of multiplayer or a scenario editor because they felt the first half of the campaign was unchallenging. Rock Paper Shotgun said that to get more than a moderate recommendation, there would have to be more content or satirical commentary influenced by the films. Though NME said the developers "absolutely nailed the look and feel of the game", they felt it "just isn't that much fun to play".

I whole-heartedly encourage folks to read "Forever War" and also recreational reading isn't a survey class unless one thinks it'd be fun for it to be. OMW is in a genre conversation with Starship Troopers and Forever War and Armor and Ender's Game, absolutely. It can also be read by itself, for fun.

This one seems wrong. I believe its a reference to Helldivers 2, where the code on the right is entered to order a 500kg bomb. The game is a satire of fascism, very much in the style of Starship Troopers, so the fascist comment also makes sense there.

And before there's lots of Hellidivers hate (I play the game and love it), it should be noted that it's a satire of fascism the same way that Starship Troopers is: it shows soldiers being led by fascist ideology to their deaths, and ramps the absurdity up to 11.

Credit where due, that new Starship Troopers game understands the brief. The whole thing is framed as (wildly unrealistic) propaganda software for kids aged 10 and up as their first step into joining the Forever War. Extra-patriotic developer commentary optional! Somehow less subtle than Helldivers

Helldivers 2, for the normies among us, is a very popular multiplayer game modeled after Starship Troopers. Very satirical. Space soldiers from a sci-fi 'super earth' empire champion 'managed democracy' while bombing other planets. They call the aliens fascists, but it's sorta the other way around.

It's not Terran Ascendancy. That 2000 game (you can only get it on abandonware websites) was absolutely amazing - full 3D graphics, excellent music, coherent storyline, unit variety, RPG elements (including promoting soldiers, choosing their gear and abilities), and just tactical goodness. “Come on, you apes! You want to live forever?” Starship Troopers Terran Command is a surprisingly smart and satisfying RTS that understands exactly what makes the Starship Troopers universe work. The Aristocrats and Slitherine Ltd. deliver a balanced, highly replayable experience by stripping away a lot of the genre’s usual busywork and focusing almost entirely on tactical decision making and battlefield awareness. This is a good RTS overall; stylistically it looks a lot like Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars down to the rifle and rocket squads. Most people that rate this game negatively are generally upset because there is no base-building, no resource extraction/mining to build large armies, and no multi player.
