What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 176 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (1,749 of 1,965 positive).
Players describe Station to Station as a relaxing, cozy puzzle game with a train theme. [1][2][3] Some note the lack of an undo button and forced restarts as frustrating. [4][5][6] The voxel graphics and soundtrack are widely praised. [2][7][8]

This is a casual puzzle game where you try and connect points in a way that maximizes score per round, going from level to level doing this over and over again. That's it. Despite this game being tagged 'Management', 'Strategy', 'City Builder', and 'Automation' on Steam, none of these tags accurately describe this game. I would argue that the game is deceptively advertised with these tags. As another reviewer …

It's a puzzle game through and through, nothing about this game is 'Simulation', that's a misleading tag. That being said, the game itself is fun and relaxing. I had a decent time lazying about connecting stations while listening to podcasts. 7/10

Seriously underrared game! Why buy the game looking for something else then leave negative review? The game contains a lot of pieces of art. The trains are amazing as well as the environment. Don't you see the tag? Cozy, relax. The game delivers just that! As a kid, have you ever dreamt of having your own toy but huge railway? Here your dream comes true. If you are looking for fast dynamic gameplay - go elsewhere. …

If you expect a challenging puzzle game with very complicated mechanics... this is probably not what you want. This aint your next Factorio or DSP. This is a beautifully crafted, voxel game with some (while at times challenging) simple puzzles. Enough to make you think a few times. The perfect game to turn your brain on Eco mode and just chill after a long work day. It's simple, it's beautiful, it's charming, it's …

Open-build puzzle game, with multiple ways to approach the puzzle, and the pieces unfold in stages. Very beautiful, vibrant voxel graphics... with great calmness. But please, invent the undo button (control Z).

positive · AI labelView post →I wrote this in 2022 during pre-production for Station to Station. never found a way to work it into the game, but I think it stands on its own:
neutral · AI labelView post →Decided to pick up PERFECT TIDES: STATION TO STATION--never played the first one--and oh this seems absolutely wonderful. Real deal classic pixel art point and click adventure that so perfectly captures 2003 as a setting that it almost hurts. Hilariously, thoughtful and surprisingly timely.
positive · AI labelView post →Here’s some old Perfect Tides fanart I did when the Kickstarter for Station to Station was going! I really loved the first PT game. positive · AI labelView post →I love The Fugitive and The Hunt for Red October, AND I love Beau Travail (in a very different way). My favorite game of this year so far, as I've been very vocal about, is Perfect Tides: Station to Station, and I am hella stoked to play GTA 6.

neutral · AI labelView post →PERFECT TIDES: STATION TO STATION is an early contender for The Game Josh Won't Shut Up About 2026. A keenly-observed look at young adult life/love in the early 2000s, the writing is exceptional, balancing wry humor with raw emotional honesty. My highest possible recommendation. Support indie devs!!
positive · AI labelView post →Honestly, if people want to get a sense of early 2000s culture represented accurately they should play @meredithgran.com 's incredible game Perfect Tides: Station to Station.
positive · AI labelView post →I love Perfect Tides: Station to Station. The animation is fantastic, the story is well written, and the xp mechanic is something you don't see in games often, earning experience from conversations or reading books. Make sure you wishlist the game now! store.steampowered.com/app/2088810/...
positive · AI labelView post →First up, @emilyprice.bsky.social chats with @meredithgran.com about the game Station to Station: “At Mara's age there's some resentment that you've become a woman and you must perform femininity at all.”
neutral · AI labelView post →I didn't like Station to Station at first. It took a while to grow on me. It's a puzzle game with simple mechanics and a superficial train theme. You're basically playing "connect the dots." Any station can ship items to any other station in your rail network, so it's mostly a matter of connecting stations to the closest stations. You start with a small amount of money, and every time you ship an item, you get a small amount of money back. It's a one-time reward, not recurring income, and…

neutral · AI labelView post →It's a puzzle game through and through, nothing about this game is 'Simulation', that's a misleading tag. That being said, the game itself is fun and relaxing. I had a decent time lazying about connecting stations while listening to podcasts. 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just popped in here to say the Bohemian Rhapsody moment in @meredithgran.com's Perfect Tides: Station to Station is extremely clever & made me smile a lot. While I'm here, I'll also mention the writing in this game is exceptional & outshines many bigger, more expensive titles. Support indie devs!
positive · AI labelView post →For me, the flow of the game is really, really bad. You cannot undo anything you try and the levels go on "phases" so you try to complete phase 1 of the game then the game reveals the next challenge and you realize you made a mistake. But you cannot undo it, you have to restart. And the design is in such a way that it literally "tricks" you in making mistakes in a "gotcha!" style since, of course, the dev knew what you would initially attempt and throw you something incompatible next. This…

neutral · AI labelView post →They had something cooking here with the theming and voxel art. However as a puzzle game I think they took the wrong direction. There is a certain order you're expected to connect the stops to achieve the most cash (score). However, the high score is not based on economics or efficiency. Instead, the scoring is based on a game mechanic of "stacking" as many uncompleted connections up as you can for one big finishing connection. As a puzzle, it's fine, but as a *train themed game* I find it…

Would you like a game that tells an interesting coming of age story made up of fully realised, well rounded characters from a respected writer, with great, original music? positive · AI labelView post →I love a game that tries new things. Perfect Tides: Station to Station from @meredithgran.com scratched that itch. Being able to level up through social interactions was a breath of fresh air. #PAXEast2025
positive · AI labelView post →9. Perfect Tides: Station to Station. I loved it just like the first game! Incredible writing and poignant moments. Reminded me a lot of my messy uni years.
positive · AI labelView post →This game is now out on both PC and Switch which should cover about 99% of people who play video games, cannot recommend it highly enough, if you play video games even a little you should play Station to Station
positive · AI labelView post →I reviewed Perfect Tides: Station to Station, developed by @meredithgran.com, a brilliant and heartbreaking exploration of youth, time, and the process of growing into oneself, and a game of the year frontrunner in January. Don't dare miss it.
positive · AI labelView post →Lovely design and crisp gameplay. But as somebody who works with some math in my job, the levels in this game boil down to graph connectivity and graph optimization problems, which I personally don't find enjoyable in my leisure time. It's a very different style of train game. Not a business sim, but rather a puzzle.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game turns my my RTX 3070 into a heater and my room into a sauna. Makes absolutely no sense for the content and graphics you are given. Feels like a hidden crypto miner. Worst performance you can imagine. Really underwhelming depth of gameplay. You just connect click and connect different points on a map. Sure it has a cozy feel and look, but its 0% management or strategy. The start is really underwhelming

positive · AI labelView post →Station to Station is truly marvellous, a game that's filled with beautiful writing telling the kind of story that's rarely found in video games. Now is the perfect time to pick it up
positive · AI labelView post →I really wanted to sink into this game and relax, but by the later levels the flaws become severely apparent: The checkpoint system makes sense until it doesn't. I understand they want you to use cards to stack rewards... But it's discouraging when you have to restart or revert because of ONE WRONG LINE out of place. It's just rude to the player. Then you have the obscenely stupid mechanic of not all the structures being present at the beginning of a level, which further rubs poodoo in your…
