I'm not big on card battler's but for some reason I've been forcing myself to play them as of late and Zoeti might be the most enjoyable one I've come across as of yet. Zoeti is a surprisingly addictive blend of poker style card combos and traditional roguelike deckbuilding. The whole game revolves around building hands pairs, flushes, straights and turning them into attacks, blocks, buffs, or huge burst damage. It …

Zoeti: A Deck-Building Adventure for Card Sharks (and Wannabes)! Just conquered my first run in Zoeti, and wow, it's a wild ride! Here's the scoop on what makes this game a blast: Card Battles with a Poker Twist! Forget the usual deck-building – Zoeti lets you build poker hands for epic attacks and defenses. It's like being a magician and a gambler all at once! Super fun strategizing about which cards to grab and …

The game itself is fun. Using a normal deck of cards, create hands that play skills. Fun with a good difficulty curve. But I can't recommend this game. The writing is terrible. I mean, absolutely awful. It reads like a furry's diary at times. I've seen plenty of bad writing, but this is up there with the worst.

I really enjoyed the game for a long time. IT has a unique playstyle with the cards and 3 characters who are diffrent playstyles. I am a littel disapointed that you have to finish the story mode to do anything else. Music, sound effects graphic everything is nice and relaxing. So why a negative review? The reason is simple. The game has a gameending bug. Atleast in 3 runs The game freezes completly when trtying to …

I can't recommend a deckbuilder where there is basically no serious strategy required. All you need to do here is block enough of the damage against you and after that deal damage. This will shield you from every negative status effect (burn, freeze, etc) and you can completely ignore all the icons and just mechanically do the same identical clicks to beat everybody very easily. You can understand it will get very …

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is currently in the Humble Choice for July 2024, and this is part of my coverage of the bundle. If you are interested in the game and it's before August 6th, 2024, consider picking up the game as part of the current monthly bundle. Card-based Rogue-lite I guess we’re doing these again. Zoeti feels like someone wanted to make a game that’s like Slay the Spire, but also not. You have typical poker hands, which you can equip a skill to each, so when you make a full house, you might…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game doesn't have many redeeming qualities beyond a cool art style... You're launched straight into the game with next to no explanation, and even for an experienced (RPG) gamer the barrage of symbols and numbers, combined with an unintuitive UI and very basic combat mechanics, make this a very difficult game to enjoy let alone recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The dialogue is so horrifically bad that I only got 15 minutes into the game before quitting forever. Appalling and unappealing horniness in the story from the very beginning, completely overshadowing my enjoyment of anything else in the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, as far as I can tell, the game is enjoyable and, due to its simplicity, I will also recommend it to those who are new to this kind of game. The music and soundtrack are well-composed. However, bad parts exist. Regarding the bad parts, instead of playing just for an hour and writing a complain, I decided to complete the main content of this game first including beating the game with each character and playing all those additional modes. However, before writing this, I still looked into…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is decent but really basic, the story is kinda bad just skipped most of it after a while but the main reason that makes me not recommend is really the crash/continue bug sometimes it just crashes to main menu after a fight and the continue doesn't work so you just have to ignore all the progress and start again, happened 4 times in a few hours.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just can't recommend this game. The artwork is nice. There is a story, but I lost it after 3 or 4 minutes. Decent deckbuilder but nothing fancy. There are way better ones.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, it's not bad. *Very* heavily borrows from Slay The Spire. Instead of using energy points to play cards, you're matching cards a la Poker (single card, pair, three-of-a-kind, full house, etc.) in order to execute the moves you have equipped and assigned to each of those groups. Rather than building a deck by adding cards, you upgrade and swap out skills (can swap out only in-between battles or in towns). Items act virtually the same as in STS, except you can only use them inside…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall this game is decent... however it has a few to many issues for me to recommend it after the time I put into beating it. first on the technical side... IDK what is with this game... but there is a 2-10 second delay for any transition... as you can imagine there is alot of them in a game like this and that wasted time adds up quickly. as for gameplay... starting at the second story campaign you will encounter enemies that get energy shield which completely nullifies X number of…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Zoeti certainly has its charm. It's a solid 4-6 hours game, which is mostly a blend of roguelike and a fantasy "save the world" story, filled with colorful cast of characters ranging from humans, demons, and mostly anthropomorphic animals. However, the big downside is that they don't do either well enough. Yes, the roguelike element exist, but it's not really interesting to me. You don't even get to change your poker deck, as far as I see. You're ONLY supposed to choose the best poker combos…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Zoeti is a card-based RPG where you play as one of three classes. It sets itself apart from contemporaries by having the player go through story missions with a fixed set of cards as you play by the rules of Poker. Here you collect skill cards which you can assign to each Poker move (one pair, two pair, flush etc.) and activate the skills in combat by using the required cards for each move. As you go through the missions, you accumulate resources for upgrading your skill cards, character, buy…

neutral · AI labelView post →The translations from the original chinese are lackluster and hard to understand in several critical rules texts, and also make the story less compelling. The core mechanic with playing cards and poker combinations to use skills has the merit of originality, but also makes skills very unequal. Some of them are barely ever used, or require inordinate amounts of effort and planning to use. You don't even actually need to use them, since in the standard difficulty (which is the only available one…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Certainly recommended for fans of casual roguelike deckbuilders who don't mind a light VN anime/fantasy story. I would also recommend Aces & Adventures that is very similar but more substantial. You should also check out Cobalt Core, Black Book, Gordian Quest, and Neoverse which all have more depth and longevity. +Music +Art style, character designs +Story mode +Variety of choices +Deckbuilding with skills matched to poker hands +Choose what skills to level up +Variety of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't get far, I admit. Honestly the dialogue was too cringey, I can't take another description an [adjective pulled from the thesaurus page for "cute" or "attractive"] animal person.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Verdict 👍 Recommended I only played Zoeti for about 10 minutes and quickly realized it’s not my cup of tea, but I still recommend it. The soundtrack immediately stood out as genuinely good, and even without voiced dialogue, the story presentation looks like it could be at least somewhat interesting. Gameplay-wise, this is a turn-based roguelite built around poker-style card combos, so if you like card battlers with runs and build synergy, it will likely click for you even if it didn’t for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The bad copy of slay the spire and the others. Can't believe how the soundtrack is the same for all the stages I've played. Absolutely skippable
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In short, Zoeti is unremarkable card-based roguelike. On the positive side, i want to mention just one thing. The are 3 different and unique playable characters, each with their own card-skills and couple accessories. And on the downside, the game sometimes hardlocks, forcing you to quit and do the battle over again. I once obtained OP accessories and upgrade for strong card-skill, but because of hardlocks, i ended up losing it. Nothing terrible, but not fun either. Overall, it's a mid game for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's a rather basic deckbuilder roguelite with a slight twist in that skills and attacks are activated by building up poker hands instead of having a cost of some sort. Otherwise there's nothing to write home about and plot is rather dull and full of cringe dialogue but thankfully all conversations can be skipped.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is just not fun enough to make up for how cringe and awful the dialogue and characters are. Slay the spire or across the obelisk are not only mechanically more fun but also spare you the UWU nonsense.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting, but ultimately it is just a less refined Ballatro with a ton of JRPG fanfic to read between hands. Would recommend Aces & Adventures for a similar vibe, but tighter gameplay loop.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game more, and with a bit of TLC, it really could be brilliant. It just has so many glaring issues that make it painful to play in its current state. They're hardly even technical issues – just development oversights and poor decisions. The first chapter (or "story scene", as the achievements call them) was great. I love the combat, I love the card system, I love the items and equipment and I love the meditation system! What I don't love, though, is the...…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I mean, it's fine. I think there are other games out there that do this type of deck-building, rogue like game play better. The UI isn't very good; if your opponent has multiple status effects on them (which many of them do) you cannot read what all of them do because the text box isn't big enough. The RPG elements I also found a bit lacking. The character writing was just kinda boring and/or annoying depending on the character. That main sexy lady you meet right at the beginning (Rabelle) is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is okay but the writing is unbearable. It's so on the nose it feels like getting hit in the face with a book.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love me some poker-based deckbuilders, but this one just barely gets a passing grade (and it's debatable whether it's a deckbuilder at all, now that I think of it; it's just a roguelite card game). After maxing out the fighter (the main character), and slamming my head against the final boss a couple of times, I'm ready to pass judgement after 15 hours. The good: Excellent character portraits and backgrounds. Decent graphics and music overall. Sound effects are just fine. One fighter main…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is an okay attempt at the genre, but lacks in a few aspects. UI is bad, no ultrawide support and a lot of times your info-screens will fall over your buttons and stuff like that. Main story is 3 missions of 1,5hour long, after which you unlock some roguelike variants with more of the same. Story is mediocre at best. So this game does nothing good, but nothing bad ether. Because of its hefty pricetag of €20 id give it a dislike. 5/10, buy on sale if over 50% off.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mediocore card game. If you want to play with waifus, play Genshin Impact. If you want to play an interesting poker deckbuilder, play Aces and Adventures. The best aspect of the game is the art. Cons are below. - Even with skip dialogue option, I wish there was a turn off dialogue. I don't play a card game to read the story. - Music/sound effects do not add to the atmosphere of the game. Whirling and magic noises are the common sound effects. - There is a 3 item limit in fights. You can't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art and dialogue comes off as charming, but in a crowded genre, this one ends up very mid. The twist is that it uses poker cards, but it's a bit under-baked. Hard to recommend.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game play is fine, but I cannot recommend the game due to being forced to play through and bad story mode before being able to just play the game uninterrupted by bad dialogue. You are able to skip the dialogue completely with a skip button, or click through it quickly, but either way you are forced into the scenes and the UI is slow and will lock you in for longer than necessary.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fairly decent trick card battler ruined by some of the most embarrassing writing ever. You could probably get a teenage boy fresh from a car accident to come up with dialogue better than this, plus it has an uneasy feeling that it was written with one hand down its pants. That, plus difficulty spikes like your enemies going from 95 health to 1050, and you having to make lots of choices before you even understand the rules of the game... it's just not worth it when there's so many better…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I appreciate the attempt at unique mechanics I find the story telling weak and a distraction from the game play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No idea how a game like this gets "very positive". I assume it's because nobody knows about it, and those who do are very into anime tropes. Like, the first thing the game presents you with is "cute guide" ... really? Ah, sigh. I really don't mind this sort of stuff in games, normally, but here it jars with the "gameplay" and introduces you to this without actually setting up the world in a natural way. It feels like the story is just a vehicle to give you "cute anime girls" or whatever other…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely a welcome take on the roguelike deckbuilder genre that takes heavy inspiration from Slay the Spire. However after finishing the character's story, I can't say I would recommend it. - Rather than the way Slay the Spire and Hades does the roguelike genre of pushing failure, this game wants to push more successful runs with a story. There is a higher difficulty but you have to start at normal everytime you start a mission for the first time. You can't automatically skip the dialogue on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is quite unique blend between visual novel and deck-builder, and its way better at the visual novel part, than the deck building part. I like it, but it is way too frustrating at times to recommend. If you are here for the visual novel RECOMMENDED If you are here for the deckbuilder NOT RECOMMENDED PROS + nice artstyle + good music + good story + good gameplay (if you have a build that can ignore all the BS from later enemies) CONS - boring gameplay (if you have a build that can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art style is really nice, has a bit of a Final Fantasy vibe to it. Unfortunately, the UI and Combat System make it, so half of the time, you don't know what's going on exactly. Why did I just lose 45 HP on that turn? Why is the enemy went from 3x5 to 72x2? Nothing is clear and efficient. On top of that, I wanted to give it one last try, so I started a game with the mage - for absolutely no reason, after a fight - the game sent me to the main menu and whenever I click "Continue Game" it just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Appleseed's Indie Game Of The Day! Day 209) Zoeti by Dusklight CO. LTD. A turn based RPG/card battler roguelike that has you making card combos to overcome battles. The character art is fantastic, the poker-style card battling has some fun strategy to it, and it's got a killer soundtrack.
positive · AI labelView post →Zoeti puts a fresh spin on card battles, leaning heavily into a poker-like strategy. While the soundtrack can feel repetitive and some character visuals are reused, the gameplay itself remains enjoyable and engaging.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like most Rogue-likes, you need to get very lucky with the Skills and Accessories gained near the start. If you don't get the better skills, reset. That is bad design. The card gimmick itself is a refreshing take, but it isn't groundbreaking enough to compensate for the bad skill designs. Nicola, the mage, is generally bad. Burn is typically worthless since the Burn stacks are low (10-20% for most turns), and they only reduce their current hp. Lightning only needs 3 stacks to be useful, while…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the short version of this review is don't go all in on -hp skills and bleed unless you want to have a bad time. the game is great as long as you don't do that. the game is good, but i quickly fell in love with the life loss and bleed damage effects. without getting into spoilers this strategy is VERY NOT COMPATIBLE with beating the final boss. it seems the game has long since received its last update, so there is no hope for any resolution to this complaint and it looks like there are other…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →neutral review okayish STS-like with an absolutely nonsensical poker angle. it really adds nothing to the gameplay, because this is just another half-baked deckbuilder where you play every card every turn and just hope for the best. also for some reason this game attempts to have a narrative story and you better love horny weeb furry ♥♥♥♥ because theres a lot of it. its nauseating and seems like it was written by a 14-year-old non-English speaker.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Zoeti is a good time waster but it gets boring pretty fast. First of all, the story - I didn't care at all. I tried reading a few dialogue lines at the start but I ended up skipping everything after 5 minutes. A setting to auto-skip dialogue would definitely help here. The gameplay it's pretty cool - inspired by Slay The Spire and mixed with poker hands to trigger abilities. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3360356917 There are a lot of rough edges: the UI feels…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While not that impressed at first, seeing it as just a weaker take on Poker Quest, the game's mechanics eventually won me over. Choosing which spells are triggered by which poker hand lead to a lot of interesting synergies. Like do you take the spell for a given poker hand that synergiezes best or maybe another spell that doesn't synergize as well but you've managed to level up much more from the random level rewards?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I usually like the genre and I am also fond of the aesthetics in general. This game, however, has not much to offer, becomes repetitive quite fast and is essentially just a very lame story ("good vs evil" etc.), tied together by a lot of fanservice.

neutral · AI labelView post →I had more fun with the Zoeti story than any other deckbuilder! There is a sense of adventure and intensity from the nice art, good characters, and engaging gameplay. The deckbuilding and roguelike aspects are solid, with a good amount of content in story, adventure, and daily modes for each of the three classes. Very clear UI by having hover text over all icons, and an index and buff explanations easily accessible in the esc menu. Shoutout to the colorblind options. Another good game like this…
