Do you like bloat? Do you like a lot of empty words? Do you like obvious plots? If not - move along. Bloat. This game has a lot of text. 90% of said text is rather simple, has zero relevancy to the plot, it at best tells us about the world (that we will not explore, since it is a VN), or at worst - about something completely empty and uninteresting. Half of the main events are obvious, yet the MC takes ages to …

Oh my, here we have a completely unknown gem, a game everyone should play and yet basically no one knows. Beautifully hand drawn story with alluring sci-fi themes, lovely characters, mild puzzles who serve mostly to better explain the environment and an adorable, melanchonic story that touched me personally. It's short but deserves your time. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3338810948

Such a beautiful little parable about dealing with grief and accepting one's past. It was very relatable for me: after I lost my dad, I also had to work through that intense feeling of guilt that's quite common when we lose our loved ones. This sci-fi metaphore turned out to be just perfect, and I suspect that the game itself can be quite therapeutical. In fact, it's perfect in every aspect: while the game world is …

If you are thinking of buying this game, stop thinking and buy it. This game is by far the most criminally underrated videogame I have ever had the pleasure of playing. When I bought it, I did not expect anything close to the experience that playing this game is. Firstly, the art style is jaw-dropping, extremely cozy and perfect, every single character that you can talk to has an animated face sprite to give them …

This was such an interesting game, it felt like I read a short sci-fi story that was so intriguing it made me look up the author to see if they'd written a full length novel. Fascinating world building, especially the theology, brought to life with gorgeous art and music.

It also seems to have introduced new ones. So, traveller beware, your investment isn’t certain to pay off, and you may have trouble seeing all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't take it anymore, this game is so dull. After almost 4 hours of playing the story has barely moved forward. First off, the "point & click" tag on this is misleading. You certainly point and click a lot but it's not a traditional adventure game. You can only click on certain items, people and locations at certain times. There's no exploration and no inventory, meaning no items to use, combine or to give to people to unlock something. It's more like a visual novel. Unfortunately for a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's okay. The art is sort of neat, the writing is fine, the story is okay, the puzzles are baby-simple, and the game is...soporific. I'm really, really tired of the "all the male characters have to sacrifice everything so that the lady can go off and...I dunno, get her liberal arts degree or something" trope. It's like the last 5 small studio games I've played, and the trend gets to be really weird after awhile. Over and over, the men give all, their livelihoods, and often up to and…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looks great, the music is nice, the story is probably well told... But I can't play it. Just like so many other dialog-intensive game, there are almost no settings for the text. Speed slow/medium/fast, and auto-continue, that's it. There is no scaling, no color blind options, no font choice. But even more importantly, there is no option to click and/or keypress to go to the next bubble text and immediately write it out in full, and there is no way to read a text bubble that you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A roughly 5 hours science fiction/fantasy/spiritual interactive comic book. Beautifully written, drawn, animated, and realized. I have a few minor nitpicky negative thoughts about the story but they are not worth writing down and too spoilery. It is very light on gameplay but for me just enough to spice up the visual novel elements without getting in the way. There is one longer recurring mini game that can get a tiny bit boring and annoying, but it serves its narrative purpose very well.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting concepts and setting with beautiful art. But the story and writing is okay at best and doesn't stand up to it's potential. You can figure out the mystery well before it's revealed in game and spend a lot of time waiting for the game to catch up. The actions of the main character are little contrived. And some of the puzzle prompts are misleading. Also it be surprisingly difficult to click on the object you want, especially screen transitions.

The only downside? It’s short, but oh so sweet! 🎁 If you love adventures with a touch of sci-fi and mystery, give it a go. 🌠

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's very much a story-first type game, so if you're looking for a choices-matter ordeal you're not going to find that here. It's basically a visual novel with a couple of light puzzle elements. That being said the story is well told, the worldbuilding is vast and interesting, overall it's a really good experience. Honestly I'm just shocked that a project with this much effort seeping out of every pore is as obscure as it is. It's not flawless, but I'd rate it well above other games that…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this story, very well written and with tons of twists!! A whole universe to explore with especies, cultures and religions of its own. (and sneak peeks to dozens more!) Also, the art in this game is beautiful and the puzzles/mini-games are fun too. The only thing that I wish was different is that Lila never got to buy the kimono at the market. but it doesn't make the game any less great!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is currently in the Humble Choice for August 2024, and this is part of my coverage of the bundle. If you are interested in the game and it's before September 3rd, 2024, consider picking up the game as part of the current monthly bundle. A dull visual novel. Universe For Sale sounds like a good concept. The game is set on Jupiter, with all the characters having to hide from Acid Rain, there’s inventive character designs, and races. This honestly feels like it’s one of the most…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is well-made. I love the art style, the atmosphere is beautiful, and I really liked the layered worldbuilding. The puzzles are light but enjoyable. Unfortunately, the ending is so weird and abrupt and uncomfortable that it ruined the game for me. Just.. why?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Universe for Sale falls flat as a visual novel and point-and-click game, despite its beautiful visual execution and innovative world – ★★☆☆☆ Flaws: ⛔ The story is quite bland. The story wasn't particularly interesting or compelling, and the plot twists were a bit obvious. There wasn't anything inherently bad about the story or dialogue, but there also wasn't anything that interesting either which made the story a bit of slog to get through. ⛔ Sluggish pacing. The dialogue text progression…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a peculiar visual novel-based mix with a sprinkle of point’n’click, a squeeze of minigames, ladles of terrific visuals and a flavoring of highly fantastical take on hard sci-fi. A quite rare example where a little pinch of everything came together as a rather harmonious dish. Or a cup of exceedingly complex ash-flavored tea, as they like it on Jupiter. The plot here is so dense that even doing a simple write-up of a premise would not only do a disservice to the game but will confuse…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very moving story, and an universe that feels incredibly rich and detailed and lived-in for what is a pretty small point and click game. very inspired. very creative. i'll probably be thinking about this game for a long time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Universe For Sale is really a demonstration of how far a "game" can go if it appears in Humble Choice bundles. And I use the term "game" reluctantly, this is more of an E-book, not really a game, although it does contain a few point and click adventure/puzzle actions. These elements, unfortunately, are just a tiny part of what, overall, is just a plodding visual novel. If it wasn't for Humble Choice, nobody would know about this, nobody would have bothered to read it... before Humble Choice…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Universe For Sale, developed by Tmesis Studio and published by Akupara Games, is a surreal and intimate point-and-click adventure set amid the swirling clouds of Jupiter, where humanity and strangeness coexist in fragile harmony. The story takes place in a marketplace suspended above the planet’s storms, a place where merchants sell everything from memories to miniature galaxies. At its center are two enigmatic figures: Lila, a young woman with the power to create universes in the palm of her…

neutral · AI labelView post →Visually gorgeous, great initial building, lovely soundtrack. But the narrative gets dull after about an hour - tbh the plot just gets WEIRD at one point, gameplay is weak, and the final payoff isn't rewarding. Would have made an excellent comic book. Makes an almost-okay-ish game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has beautiful graphics and a really intriguing story and world building. So why am I giving this a negative review? I ran into a gamebreaking bug and couldn't finish the game. When I looked on the steam discussion boards, this bug was reported years ago and never addressed. Several people had similar bugs and it seemed like the answer from the dev was "Oh, we did a save game update, that's what's causing it." But a number of people with game breaking bugs like me didn't even start…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun experience. I normally only ever play shooter games, but this game plays like more of a visual novel and I found myself engrossed. 10/10 great 6 hours.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to love this game. The artwork and sound design were absolutely my cup of tea hr hr. The general storytelling flow was what I expected from that kind of game but the end was very predictable from once certain point in the game. All in all it was solid, had some minor continuity flaws and some of the characters were not very fleshed out. What totally ruined it for me were the minigames though - not the fact that they existed or how they were intended to work - they mostly just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a walking simulator, as boring as it could be gameplay-wise. But the story and the world are gems, while the aesthetics are a feast for the eyes. Extra credits for the "building universes based on customer requests" minigame.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Art looks amazing. Game play experience is slow, tedious, and annoying. Dialog is in pages of single sentences at a time with incremental "typewriter" type characters typing one at a time for every dialog. Can't skip cinematics and screen transitions, so a fair amount of sitting and waiting is required while devs force you to spend time you don't want to spend. Minor nitpicks: At load, as studio logos play, escape doesn't skip the logos, it PAUSES them. Game starts with the way overdone and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look, I really can't stand the design of the main character, and I really really thought this was going to be another quirky variant of coffee talk or va11-hall-a. I was genuinely surprised to find a pretty nice point and click visual novel. Well animated, with a pretty artstyle. However the narrative falls apart pretty quickly, the title of the game and initial hook seems completely irrelevant to the story that happens, having a completely new hook and mystery. Then after that it bombs it's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another like a clicker narrative game. Not a crazy fan of the environment of the game. Stories in space always feel yap. Intro doesn’t really hook me in at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How does this game have 95% positive reviews on steam?? Absolute trash, you are just clicking on text bubbles with stupid text, which has nothing to do with story. Terrible 'puzzles' which makes no sense, bad music, bad graphics. Don't waste your time.

neutral · AI labelView post →It's recommendable if you like point-and-clickers and don't mind a quite linear game (when it comes to gameplay) with a lot of reading. It can be boring if you just go into it expecting much else. The art is really nice, the story is interesting, but told in a non-linear way, so it might be really confusing for the first third or half of the game, and the ending is, or at least to me, it was, quite predictable, that's not to say that it was bad in any way though. The writing is pretty good,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't have much to add that others haven't already, but I was slightly shocked that this didn't have more reviews so I want to provide another positive review for a beautiful little game. Finding this game feels like when you walk into a cozy record shop or graphic novel store and find something that seems wonderfully crafted, but also indie and you wonder if it's worth your $15, or if it's more of an interesting but not fully fleshed-out concept. This game is one of those finds that really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game, I liked the worldbuilding a lot! Even more than the story itself I guess, which was also good! negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not very fun or compelling. I tried really hard to finish it hoping the story would hook me and it never did.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A thought-provoking story with awesome music and sound design, and it has incredible artwork, some of the best I've seen in a game. The game-play is light with only a few simple puzzles and a lot of dialogue. It is a lot of fun to explore the combinations when creating whole universes, and then simply pouring them away. I had no issues playing this on using Linux on a Steam Deck.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just finished it. And this is a yes from me. Otherworldly. That word typically never fits anything. It fits this game. Absolutely. It takes a minute, because the plot has many elements to take in. But I found it pretty awesome. It took a lot of thought and a TON of creativity. These guys made a very neat 'universe' of universes. It's charming. For sure. Gameplay is nothing to write home about, but it get's the job done and it delivers the story really well. Although I suck at…

Universe For sale has a good and actually perfect rich narrative that really captivates you and makes you want more of it. It also has a great and unique story that you don't often come across. Also worth mentioning is that the game has great worldbuilding and artstyle that you can enjoy during the game. The small game mechanics that you find also really complete the game. A lot of thought was put into the world and its lore, complete with its own philosophies and religions- someone really thought these things through! The story was a wonderful one and beautifully brought to life with stunning artwork. The game needs a quick save feature as you cannot manually save progress so if you want to play when you have other things to do later it may take a while to save and let you go. The gameplay elements are minimal but i was happy to be swept along in the welcoming story. Great fun.
