Syndrome has the setting to be a good horror game. The environment is suitably creepy, although a little darker than is good for creepiness in some place. The storyline is ok for a horror game. The enemy designs all work well except for one that looks like it's in a red latex bodysuit in direct light. What kills the game is all the constant backtracking. You'll run into an obstacle on one level, and have to go to …

Okay, so this isn't quite Alien: Isolation 2, System Shock 3, or Dead Space: The First Person Reboot, but it's not too shabby for a stop-gap space-horror game in the meantime. First things you'll notice, regrettably, are a distinct lack of Options (no brightness or keyboard remapping?) and the fact that the beginning of the game is very, very dark visually (perhaps too much so, depending on one's settings). Introduction Syndrome is developed and published by Camel 101. The dev team had delved previously into sci-fi with their first Steam project, Mechs & Mercs: Black Talons. That one wasn’t as well received as Syndrome but at least we’re talking about experienced developers. Gameplay It’s becoming sort of a trend nowadays in video games, to focus a lot on style over substance. No one can deny that Syndorme doesn’t look the part and yet if you spend a few hours with it, the cracks do emerge along…

This game is a fantastic start to a game. It does play a lot like alien isolation, but actually even outperforms it in several aspects. Even though this game has weapons, (which I think if fantastic, since so many horror games don't do this,) they will NOT make you feels safe at all, while in the Alien game I did feel like it took off some of the edge. This is partly due to such scarce ammo, equivalent to the early RE series, that when you miss with a bullet it almost feels like the game's…

I'm honestly surprised this isn't higher rated as it is, while inherently flawed, a very laudable effort to deliver a great indie survival horror experience. I wasn't expecting that going in as I hadn't checked it out much before getting, I was honestly expecting something more like Doom. But this game has a flawless intro, holding off on the first encounter with the monstrosities until it has established a solid atmosphere and it is very effective. Now admittedly, there is a slight decline…

Syndrome is a survival horror game in a sci-fi environment. You are a citizen of a starship, when you wake up you are confused, but its only an effect of the cryosleep, But no all so easy, you are not seeing any people around you, its strange. You know, that most uncomfortable for reaching button on your keyboard. The game is dark enough and batteries for the flashlight are scarce (i'm absolutely okay with that), so very often you'd need just to turn your light on for a couple seconds just to see where you're going. This is the classic survival horror game where the protagonist wakes up alone an unarmed in a strange place. Soon comes the melee weapon and then the firearms, always with the ammo in short supply. The levels are big and creepy with plenty to explore. Monsters are scary and much more powerful than the player, and there are also some environment traps that must be avoided. You'll recognize some influences from games like System Shock and Dead Space, which is all right. Good play for any survival…

The headline of this game made it sound very much like a more minimalist Alien Isolation, from a smaller development team, and it certainly captures a lot of the horror of that loneliness in space. You're Galen, who wakes up on a ship in deep space to find he's alone and the crew appear to be dead. Finding out what happened is the key to unravelling the mystery and escaping nightmare. Ok, in a change to my usual format I'll get the bad aspects out the way first: The lack of polish is pretty…

Another nice game that slipped into the limbo of the unknown. The story takes place in a spaceship where everything seems to have went wrong. After a slow start where tension rises, the enemy shows up and the action starts. There are different types of monsters, some are quite easy to evade or defeat, some others are fast and powerful, and can kill with 1 or 2 strikes. The ship is big and the ship looks cool, but the levels could use a bit more visual variety, like specific paint jobs for…

I was looking forward to this game. Because I like games like ALIEN ISOLATION, SYSTEM SHOCK and more .. The atmosphere is perfect, really gave me a good scare, but after longer playing I can not recommend. She disappointed me :( - The weapons here are a JOKE, enemies impossible to defeat them using weapons either - Graphical stuttering constantly, No vsync options - Physics locked to lower frame-rate and look very odd and causes objects to behave strangely - Zero pathfinding clues. Good luck…

Syndrome had me go through exiciting and sometimes scrary moments during 28 Hours, since I absolutely love the Alien Isolation / Soma genrer. Recommend you give it a try!

The atmosphere is great, feels like Dead Space and alien Isolation. There are some bugs like for some reason my sensitivity keeps reseting when I go to the menu but nothing else too major. If you want to get into the halloween vibe this is the perfect game.
