What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 254 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (1,819 of 2,222 positive).
Players praise the unique vehicle building and customization, calling it fun and addictive. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the lack of a block ban or filter system makes late-game builds frustrating. [4][5][6]

Avoid until the devs learn to implement basic roguelite features properly. The game looks a bit better than the demo and the combat feels mostly the same but almost everything else is a step back. It's like a greatest hits of bad design choices for a roguelike with meta progression: - No block or ban mechanic - the more you progress, the more parts options you unlock, but because you have zero mechanism to control / …

This game is incredible and absolutely worth your time if you are a fan of bullet heavens, as well as vehicular combat. It has some of the deepest and wackiest customization available in the genre, multiple maps, characters, an awesome endless mode, and tons of builds to pursue. There are also a number of shortcomings I could address that generally pale in comparison to the sheer immensity that makes up TerraTech's …

Fantastic gameplay loop, addictive building process, plenty of options and variety. however, there are almost zero vibes, no story, only 4 levels, and nothing memorable besides the vehicle building. worth the 10 bucks they are asking, hence the positive review, but there is almost no meat hanging off bones of the gameplay loop

+ Fun gameplay + Vehicle modification is easy to use + Various "build types" are possible (frontal assault, broadside, etc) + No unnecessary handholding tutorials - Meta is pretty weak - Until the (planned) possibility to ban some pieces, unlocking more "rewards" you with never finding the one you need - The "skill trees" on characters have no cap so you just choose the order in which you unlock stuff.

It's Vampire Survivors but you get to custom build your car. It's pretty fun to do, and the randomized parts selection drives (pun intended) your playing style and future choices. Quite enjoyable on the Steam Deck, although I wish the minimap was larger.

60 of 332 · most liked firstIt's a nice game, its just that i liked the demo version more. I don't understand why Normal blocks don't give health; they are just blocks with no stats. Instead, one needs to select specific items for health. Building and strategising how to build to be effective– which was one of the main reasons I like Terratech – is less prominent then before. You dont need to think how build you just place it, wich 'mutes' the terratech. I have beaten the first few level/ bosses without adding normal…

It's like a greatest hits of bad design choices for a roguelike with meta progression: - No block or ban mechanic - the more you progress, the more parts options you unlock, but because you have zero mechanism to control / filter the pool, this just makes the game more RNG-heavy and therefore harder…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Starts fun, then two things happen. 1) You get so many unlocks it becomes pretty much impossible to actually make a build. As you unlock more options, you become weaker. 2) The difficulty spikes, the fun dies, and it just becomes frustrating.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think the problem with this game is summed up by it doesn't have any excitement. Everything is kinda vanilla. Your unlockables and upgrades are simply boring. We are talking upgrades like "3% more boost power (upgrade 5 times)", and "more health and armor". There's four tiers of upgrades, surely the upgrades get more exciting at the top? Nope, the highest level upgrades are "get one extra copy of your common starting weapon". So instead of starting with one common weapon, now you got two at…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has so much potential but somehow manages to shoot itself in the foot the more you play. You have so many unlocks and great potential for builds but the RNG system keeps showing you utterly useless and pidgeon-holed crap. There are many weapons in the game but you always get the same boring weapons. The timer on missions usually ends when you are just getting strong so you can't really enjoy the build you made. The mission maps are so weird and you are stuck between going after the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don’t think I’ve ever played a game where the “just one more round” urge felt less like hopeless addiction to the loop and more like desperately clinging to the hope that there might be something more beneath the surface. TerraTech Legion isn’t bad- not by any stretch. It runs smoothly and executes its core design competently. The real issue is that what it delivers simply isn’t as fresh or captivating as the box may suggest. If someone asked me whether it was any good, they’d get a hesitant…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I already had fun with the previous demo, but honestly the full release doesn't seem to play quite as well as the demo did, some other reviews seem to point out the same. One of my biggest issues is that the HP bonuses got removed from most structure blocks, by default they will remain in the inventory now as there is no incentive to actually place all of them to maximize any kind of bonuses, as such they also feel like a waste to get as a random option from loot. Sure, they offer more…

The build system is completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. - There are 4 archetypes, but as you unlock them, all parts can be present on the loot table. - The more you progress, the more you unlock parts, the less chance to have a weapon / item for your build / archetype - No ban system or synergy one. - Resulting on fully random runs, frustrating, not fun at all. The first two hours are fun, then you progress, then the game is ruined. Too late for a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tl;dr: Great idea destroyed by awful balancing and enemy design. This game really SHOULD be fun, and at first it does give off that impression. Hence the surprisingly positive reviews. But once you play for longer, you start to realize the absolutely abhorrent balance and design issues of the game. Whole damage types are completely useless. Melee? Forget about it. Even with the car clearly meant for melee, you will get torn to shreds in seconds. Even with tons of melee weapons, buffs and…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Origonal demo was great fun, hadnt played the demo after update & after buying the game & spending 4 hours on it its just not fun any more, building blocks have no stats, no matter how yoiu build it physics have no effect on shapes & different configs, mele feels nerfed. Stuns are pointless they just react as normal even with the stun icon, wepons feel really nerfed especially some of the legandary wepons, health drops are all but non existant & forcing you to fight in a small area against the…

neutral · AI labelView post →Okay, 66hrs and a negative review. Why? I use survivor-style games as a way to watch/listen to YouTube/podcasts because it's unintrusive enough that I don't get distracted mid-sentence. There are some more comprehensive negative reviews out there but the thing that finally got me to uninstall as opposed to "maybe they will fix it in another update" is the final planet. In a game about cars and speed, having the shield-rammer enemies is communicating that I should take this level slow.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's good, but needs updates. TerraTech Legion is definitely worth the price for the amount of content you get, but as a "Survivors-like," it still feels a bit behind the curve. While building your own car and seeing all those cool weapons in action is super fun, the game is missing essential genre staples like a way to ban or block parts you don’t want. Since you can’t filter out items, you’re often forced to take gear that doesn't fit your build, and the lack of a recycling system to turn…

Then they made TerraTech Legion "Supporter Pack" to "support the team" and it's just a cosmetic item. Excuse you? Your company has constantly rebuilt and repackaged the same idea - 'Assemble blocks and do things'. Unfortunately, this is the THIRD TIME you've sold us the idea. I'm done. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PREFACE: Don't get me wrong. The game is kind of fun. It has a lot going for it. It just frustrates the ♥♥♥♥ out of me. I loved the demo, so I bought the game when it released. Many things changed, as was to be expected. But a lot of the changes are so ridiculous atm, I cannot recommend buying this so as to prevent others from encountering these things. My Prime Example: Stage 2 of Rotwater Basin has things you need to complete in order to get stars that unlock later stages. One of those is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is the game Fun, yes up to a point. And that point fun stops being is when you meet the RNG wall. Progression should never be locked behind RNG... The building is fun, the weapons mostly all feel good (melee impact builds just suck, boss fights) The skill progression feels ok, could use some work. The only issue that is a really big not recommend... for me is. You want to get stars to advance the progression into higher difficulties? TO BAD CAUSE RNG says no.... What do i mean…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played the demo tons, very fun game, fun to see what kinda wacky stuff you can do to your vehicle and there is a lot of stuff to unlock. Only real complaint I've got is I like dakka, and I can't hardly find fire rate blocks.

neutral · AI labelView post →This game gives you three choices the same way a vending machine gives you three buttons for an empty slot. We see “choose one of three blocks,” but we feel “pick which disappointment you like best.” The devs want you to feel like you’re making decisions, but most of the time you’re just being offered the same useless blocks again and again. Then, when a new block finally appears, you obviously pick it because it’s the only thing that isn’t trash. That’s not strategy. That’s just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not there yet. The game actively gets worse as you put more hours in because there is no way to trim out ♥♥♥♥ items it is completely RNG, and banishing an item during a run takes 2 reroll tokens (one to banish, one to actually reroll the banished item). Healing blocks are bulky and useless, either they are HP3 or HP5 hard to tell, so a massive chunky block gives you 3 hp every 3 or 5 seconds. you start with about 500-700 hp based on class. Armor items seem to be useless, Ive never gotten…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those games I can't believe someone made. It's Istrolid but 3D, it's Lego Mad Max, and it's a Blast Corps roguelite! TerraTech Legion, in concept, is way too good to be true. It's such an impossible premise to pull off that it sounds like a scam. Nobody's even trying to make a game like this. Now here comes the crazy part - it's not a scam! They actually made this game! The graphics are weirdly great, not that it matters. There are so many different weapons and whatnot to use,…

neutral · AI labelView post →Great game overall, and the only concern I have is that the Rolling Tardigrade feels way harder than any other boss when using a melee build. The laser attack can kill you nearly instantly, the hitbox feels weird to interact with, and it can snap to your direction seemingly randomly, so you can't consistently get behind it to dodge the laser attack. The rest of the game is great, none of the weapons feel too overpowered, though there are definitely some weaker ones, but you get to pick from 3…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TerraTech Legion - an enjoyable blend of action roguelite gameplay and a vehicle-building sandbox with almost no creative limits. Instead of simply upgrading a character, you're constantly designing and improving your own combat machine, experimenting with different weapons, modules, and layouts to survive increasingly dangerous waves of enemies. The building system is what truly sets the game apart, offering a level of creativity rarely seen in the genre. What’s Good: Pleasing graphics and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Runs smoothly and looks good on Steam Deck (low settings, medium VFX, no upscaling). Plays like a very good survivors-like, with a decent number of weapons and upgrades. I like that build variety doesn't stop on just weapons you choose, because, depending on character, build and playstyle, placement can be very important for your weapons' damage output. I also like that some encounters are challenging enough, so that you actually have to manoeuvre well and pay attention (unlike some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a huge fan of the survivors genre and especially where something unique can shake up the formula a bit, but shakes it in a way that isn't a slog. TT legion actually does a genuinely great job of trying something unique, and it works. I am generally NOT a fan of "Drivivors" (I just made that up, but survivor titles with a driving movement / physics based angle) - This is one of the rare times I am actually on board. The building angle is easy to learn and the combos are wild enough…

neutral · AI labelView post →I love the RNG element that some are complaining about, keeps things fresh and makes you try to come by with weapons you maybe wouldn't normaly pick, some of which turned out to be better than I thought. A fun game to unwind for an hour or so after work, well worth the price, imo.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I personally don’t like how the vehicles move and rotate in this game. If you want to shoot in another direction, you have to slowly turn the entire vehicle, and it feels really heavy and time-consuming. The problem is that while you’re still turning, enemy waves can suddenly attack from another side, which makes combat feel frustrating at times. I know you can eventually equip weapons facing different directions, which is actually a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I spent so much time on the demo for this game it's a little embarrassing, but the final game does not disappoint. My only issue is that trying to rotate a block with the right mouse button could be more intuitive - currently I have to click 15-20 times to rotate through positions that don't fit in the block's current location, which gets annoying. Otherwise, this was well worth the wait.
