What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 174 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (1,828 of 1,993 positive).
Players find The Adventure Pals a charming and humorous platformer that is fun for both kids and adults. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the game's levels can feel too long and the combat too simple. [4][5][6] A few players report technical issues with co-op or find the game loses its appeal over time. [7][8][9]

A really fun platformer to play with friends. The art style is cute, the gameplay is really fun, and the dialogue is hilarious at times. The reason I can't recommend this game is because I bought it to play co-op via Remote Play Together (there is no online co-op). My friend and I played about 4 hours and had fun, but the next time we tried to continue, Remote Play Together no longer worked. We've tried multiple …

"This is just a kids game!" I'd say, but here I am playing 10+ hours on The Adventure Pals and enjoying it. This game is seriously more entertaining than I had expected. You start off with a tutorial by the MC's dad, only for him to be abducted by an enemy riding a bee. Huh. In the later game, you encounter newer enemies, more platform features like a hook-shot that shoots you towards a direction when you grab it, …

If you're looking for a game for your young kiddos, this is a great pick. My 6 year old had a blast, and was able to beat this game entirely on his own. I often seek out games like this for young ones, and this is a BIG winner. Incredible amount of imagination went into this game and it's just wonderful.

Didn't made me rage quit even once, as usually this genre push me. Not even skill focused. This game really made to cheer the player rather than trying hard to be a masterpiece. The art is adorable, colorful & gorgeous, simply pleasing to look at. I'm tired of dark souls inspired pixel art that would easily stress me. Not sure why some people have issues with same repeated enemies because to me, that is the charm. …

A pet rock, a tongue-helicoptering giraffe, and hot dogs... The harder it is to explain, the weirder it sounds, but somehow, the game itself is oddly adorable.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Adventure Pals was a game that I enjoyed and was delighted by .... for the first 8 of the 9 hours it took me to beat it. It is a game that hits on that saturday morning cartoon nostalgia. The artstyle, graphics, animation, effects, humor, sounds, everything is crafted towards a very specific vision, and damn, it pays off. It's a great game to look at, and it's one of these games I know will never look dated, because it's a timeless art direction. It's more like Adventure Time than some…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I came across this game when I was a kid playing the former flash game "super adventure pals" and also by watching DanTDM's playthrough of it. Back then it seemed incredibly fun and seemed so cool.... I was wrong. The level of mediocrity in this game is completely unmatched. When you first begin to play the game it seems fun, there's a lot to do: a shop , a level up system , items you can use, cards to collect, and even accessories. However you level up incredibly fast in this game so by the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly it just didn't have enough variety. I played a while and got bored. Kept trying to come back so I could get the achievements but just couldn't force myself to play it anymore. I felt like I had experienced everything already and there wasn't much point. Which sucks cause I hate having games that I haven't 100%'d If the game had been much shorter, less redundant content and beatable in a reasonable amount of time it would have gotten a thumbs up from me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is painfully simple, from shallow button-mashing combat to barebones platforming with lacking variety in both level design and enemy types. Coupled with the long-winded levels, this makes the game a dull experience that overstays its welcome by the time you're midway through the game. I've also gotten softlocked/stuck a few times during levels and was forced to restart.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes. Feel like I should be having more fun with this than I am. I absolutely love the humour, the art style and the general feel of the game. However I think the problem is that the levels just keep going on way longer than they should. I guess I'm a bit too old for this one and they're just too easy. I can see myself enjoying playing this with my son when he's a little bit older. I would have put a bit more emphasis on fleshing out the combat mechanics rather than having quite so many…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely little game that plays like "my first platformer" - so definitely a good one for kids, very family friendly and good humour that most will enjoy, I certainly did. Big recommend if you want a casual, non sweaty or precise platformer and a laugh. One or two quirks with the controls and some platforms but all doable.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite a fun little platformer with some humour sprinkled about. If you enjoy vibrant colours and decent movement then this game is a great pickup. It's nothing extreme and the combat is real basic but lightheartedly as a time killer for a few hours its pretty good. Would recommend for some unserious gaming
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super Adventure Pals was a big part of my childhood and one of the best flash games ever made. It was ambicious, but charming and comical. Like with another Armor Games classic, Swords & Souls, a Steam sequel (or in this case, a prequel) was announced and released, which made me really happy. I've been wanting to try them out for quite a while now and having beaten this one, I can say it's like revisiting my childhood again. Familiar places, like Treevale, familiar faces, like pet Rock and the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. The music and visuals are phenomenal. The game feels fun and smooth to control (if you're using a controller). The combat is simple yet effective. The stages drag on a bit too long, but are still fun. There is a noticeable difficulty spike around world 4, which is my only complaint, but other than that, the game is great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun action platformer. Not too difficult. And never really frustrating. Per level you have 5 sublevels and each sublevel has a cupcake to collect. In the level there is also a sticker somewhere to be found for your scrapbook. If you missed one, you can return to the level and select the sublevel you want to replay. So you don't need to replay from level 1. I found that very important. Otherwise I wouldn't played it that long. Graphics are cartoony, detailed and have funny touches. The…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy this game. It is goofy, unhinged and the characters are super cute but also insane looking. Love the platformer style, I like how I need to figure out all the little paths to satisfy my magpie tendencies. Very enjoyable game :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →100% The Adventure Pals on 8/4/2024. My wife and I just fully beat this game. It is a cute little platformer where you and your pals (a giraffe called Sparkles and a rock called Mr. Rock) have to go save your papa who was kidnapped by Mr.B who rides a mechanical Bee and is kidnapping all the old people to turn them into hotdogs. You'll never guess who the real villain is though. Game feels like a mixture between Castle Crashers, Battle Block Theater, and Adventure Time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dont buy this if your not a kid its boring repetitive and bland but the artstyle is nice
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stumbled upon this game completely by accident and fell in love with it. Cute, fun, easy enough for the kids to play but great for adults as well. Love the cupcakes more than anything. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I do enjoy the silly humor, I find the game to be buggy, crashed during intro cutscene, freezes often on exit, and there's screen flicking/tearing issue. There is no resolution settings. I also find the texts small and uncomfortable to read. Also there's no steam cloud support, although the page will say Up To Date, the actual save sync was never implemented, which is very disappointing for someone who wants to play both on PC and on Steam Deck.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i have weird screen tearing issues like when you play games without vsync (and i have vsync turned on in the nvidia controls)

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's just lowkey a chill game. Fun to destress with and it's like 2 bucks on sale so you ain't really losing anything from picking it up
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Adventure Pals is a cheerful, quirky platformer developed by Massive Monster and published by Armor Games Studios, offering a blend of humor, light RPG mechanics, and cooperative play wrapped in a whimsical, cartoon-like world. At its core, it delivers a joyful experience built around absurdity and imagination, inviting players into a universe filled with talking animals, sentient household objects, bizarre villains, and an unshakable sense of optimism. Rather than leaning on gritty action…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not as fun as it looks (for me) When I was a little chungy I saw DanTDM play this game and I was like, "I WANTS TO GET TIS GAEM!!!" Soon my awesome friend, RedDJ gifted this to me and I was like, "Yo that's cool." but the levels just felt repetitive even though every time I entered I new level it was one that I am not even familiar with. I get that there are like different worlds (sets of levels) with new gimmicks but I ain't playing that much to just play with a new gimmick even on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little game, I really enjoyed it and got 25 hours of fun out of it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My son and I just finished this game. We both loved it! He says, "Its the best $$$ I've spent and I love it so much!" We both laughed many times during the game. Can't wait for Adventure Pals 2!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game presents an enchanting first impression in all departments, though its charm becomes less compelling with extended play. While the visuals draw inspiration from beloved series like Adventure Time, the aesthetic feels disconnected from the game's core elements rather than serving the overall experience. The writing starts with promise, offering quirky encounters and humorous moments. However, the humor tends to rely on simple subversions (like a whale wanting to wear a thong) without…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game for kids of all ages, adults included. The Adventure Pals is a straight forward Platformer with very light RPG aspects thrown in. Very quick and easy to complete and if you're into achievements, collecting all the achievements is quick and easy too. Relaxing game with a continuous funny vibe and art style. I'd definitely recommend this title for kids and adults who're looking for a light heart platformer to chill with.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A not too easy, not too hard platformer. For reasons, (literally the explanation the bad guy says in the exposition) Mr. B is turning all the old people into hot dogs and has taken your dad on your birthday to continue this dastardly plan. So with your trusty pals you set off to rescue him and solve everyone else's problems along the way. Be it getting a whale a panty or teaming up with a pirate to get her supply of root beer back, this game is entertaining from start to finish and the controls…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Steam's rating system really can't account for how sometimes a game gives you conflicting thoughts on it. I want to give this game a mixed review, but I guess I have to settle for negative. This game is visually very charming, although you can't see it super well because it is far too zoomed out. A lot of the combat is very tedious, press one button over and over again and then sometimes press another one. The movement mechanics are very fun, when they work. The final boss was not play tested…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →horribly bug ridden. I've gotten softlocked multiple times in levels causing me to have to redo the entire stage again. I got hardlock and had to edit my save file because papa rock was saved from his stage but never spawned into the world so I couldn't talk to him. my co-op partner will sometimes spawn "dead" and would instantly die on the next hit again. The bee minigame broke once and wouldn't let us exit it. The arena half the time never spawned the next wave.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jelly jumps with joy Friendship fuels absurd quests Smiles beat every foe
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was fun in coop
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely delightful little game. At multiple times I found myself laughing or smiling at the humor. I feel like everytime I thought the platforming was just finding it's pattern things would change or be added slightly and those mechanics shaped things up enough to keep things interesting until the very end. Underwater areas were done correctly. I like the muffin hunting mechanic. Overall a great time and I can't wait for my friend to visit my state so we can play co-op together
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game can be used as level design guide, levels have very nice and relaxing flow. The negative is soundtrack, it's basically 1 song per every location and all of them make you wanna throw up. Just watch the trailer and decide for yourself if it's possible to listen to that for 13.9 hours. All other negatives and positives are minor.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great single player or local co-op game. Fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game for a single-player or even a screen co-op. In my opinion, it is a good game to learn or pratice the basic mechanics of platform games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sexy whale 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not big on mechanical depth. Instead, it's big on chilling out and not taking things too seriously. Hack and slash fun.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →#114 The Adventure Pals - The Adventure Pals is a fun little 2D platform/beat em up game. Relatively short, pretty easy to 100% and the story is honestly pretty funny. Little tip for anyone going for the 100. The Co-op game is *local co-op*. It's why it was my last achievement. 8/10 Would rescue my grandpa from being a hotdog again.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let's get it out of the way: YES the designs, tone and musics are HEAVILY 'inspired' by Adventure Time. This being said, this is a very nice platformer game that, on its own, is very much worth the try. I find it fun, the story is compelling, the dialogues are funny... Yeah, it's a good game. ---{ Graphics }--- ☐ You forget what reality is ☐ Beautiful ☑ Good ☐ Decent ☐ Bad ☐ Don‘t look too long at it ☐ MS-DOS ---{ Gameplay }--- ☑ Very good ☐ Good ☐ It's just gameplay ☐ Mehh ☐ Watch paint…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game where you leave a trace of confetti sure feels like home. Fun platform-core game with touches of RPG and fights. Lots of charm and interesting abilities. Controls are fine-tuned, so one feel empowered while alternating acrobatic and fighting combos. Mostly a relaxing breeze, but not so easy as to enable oneself to play distracted. Silly childish & self deprecating sense of humour (included mature audiences) with joyful, colorful winks. The core quest may feel short, but given the joy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and hilarious game. Platforming is smooth and polished, while combat is simple and responsive, if not a bit spammy and repetitive. I will say the levels feel a bit too long. Most levels are broken up into 5 stages, but they would feel better if shortened down to 4. Still enjoyed it and it's co-op friendly for just chilling around and playing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game, sometimes some doors didnt open and i had to restart a stage in the level, and the "get all achievements" didnt pop had to restart the game for it. game was great but i felt like it got kindah repetetitive after a while. shouldve been shorter and instead added more bosses. i played it solo tho. i love the artstyle and the sounddesign of everything it made fun to destroy stuff and play through the levels. a hint of comedy too. just my taste.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun and relaxing game, also with a friend in local co-op! Nice graphics and sound design, it is a perfect chill platform feel good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really fun until it is not. Levels keep getting harder and harder until you are stuck like me. Stupit button spike jump.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GotD 95: The Adventure Pals One of the best things about going through a game a day, it reminds me of the weird stuff in my collection.
