This is not playable on Steamdeck, technically compatible however it constantly freezes/crashes and thanks to the way it only saves in certain spots, you have to keep constantly replaying the same sections in an attempt to get past the previous crash. This was fantastic! Having not played a FMV game before, I went into this with low expectations. I thought it would be janky and not very good. I was completely wrong! You're not playing a character model; you're directing a real movie with actors. The decisions you make have a real impact on what happens next. There are eight unique endings. The plot is engaging and suspenseful, with some good twists. For an interactive movie, the performances and overall quality are solid. How you treat other characters affects your relationships with them and changes the story. It's about the …

⭐ My Verdict “If you’re looking for a short but engaging interactive thriller with real stakes and multiple outcomes, this one delivers.” 👍 What I Liked +The premise grabbed me: after a catastrophic bio-weapon attack in London you’re trapped in a locked-down lab with the clock and air running out. +It’s full live-action cinematic style, with real actors and a film-like production, which gives it a different feel …

A film with choices, not really a game. Even says it's "A film by Paul Raschid" at the start. Good TV-quality actor performances and good plot. Crisp, smooth full-screen video. It's worth replaying at least once. However, the choices don't really change things that much until around the last 15 minutes. You'll see different video clips, though. I think The Complex is worth watching as a thriller film anyway, even if …

81% of the 190 Steam reviewers we collected recommend The Complex. The complaint that keeps coming up: unclear save points and risk of progress loss. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

Critics, per Wikipedia

Engadget said in their review "Fundamentally, it's a mostly entertaining way to spend $13, and an evening, but I doubt that you'll feel too compelled to find all nine endings unless you're a real obsessive." Screen Rant said "Overall, The Complex is another FMV game that does not live up to the potential this genre of interactive movie/gaming hybrid could potentially offer."

I’d like to see the game Goldeneye made into a movie. So like there’s two aspects of the original movie but the rest of the movie is just the levels of the game including multiplayer. James Bond running around The Complex going “Where am I! Fuck!”

This is how I played The Complex: I completed one full blind run (which only took about 1.5 hours), then I used a guide to complete all subsequent endings and see all the scenes I missed in my first playthrough. There are eight possible endings. I did this largely because I was fine with that initial play being more of a movie experience with an ending I was somewhat satisfied with so at that point I was just curious about seeing the other scenes/endings without investing a ton more time.…

The Complex is an FMV game about a virus outbreak in London. The main character Dr Amy Tenant is a scientist who is trapped in a laboratory with a few colleagues, and must find a way to escape. This is basically an interactive movie, so gameplay involves watching the video scenes and then occasionally making a choice to influence how the story plays out. My first playthrough took only 76 minutes to complete, and my 2.6 hours playing time represents two full playthroughs. The actors did a good…

You can skip scenes you have already watched, so getting all the endings and achievements is fun & easy. The Complex is plain okay, akin to a 5/10 movie, only really saved by the great performances from the actors involved. The sound mixing is pretty terrible, the plot is predictable and some of the writing is really weak but it's not outright unwatchable either, just really forgettable. Not really worth it, even on sale, i think you'd have more fun just watching a decent movie.

The Complex starts with an interesting premise, but sadly it never fully lands on its paws. While the idea of a live action, choice-driven thriller sounds intriguing, the execution feels more stiff than immersive. The acting is inconsistent, which makes it difficult to stay emotionally invested. Some performances work, but others feel flat, breaking the tension that the story is trying to build. Instead of feeling like your choices matter, many decisions feel cosmetic, leading to outcomes that…

Short little movie game where choices matter. There aren't that many choices so its pretty simple. I will say that its maybe an hour and a half but it cut out before a save could occur so I lost progress. I don't know if I would pay full price for this game, but I got it on sale for $2.99 and I think that was worth it for sure. I like a few of the actors in this so its decent quality.

I have learnt about Wales Interactive recently, and I have really enjoyed the "Late Shift"; however, although this game is quite good for just 1 playthrough, it can't bear more because there are huge mistakes or delays in storyline. For example, when we are with Rees ,after the attack of Dr. Malkin, the timing of the noise comes from void changes due to our previous choices. Moreover, fielding more questions ,which takes no more than 2 mins, lead Amy to not reach the Clare at the street. To sum…

Despite the fact Dr. Amy looks like my ex-girlfriend, I actually like this game quite a lot. I should start by saying that choices DO REALLY MATTER in this interactive film. Even some minor decisions from the very beginning can impact the outcome. In a nutshell, it follows the character likeability. How you get close or dislike a character will open new possibilities (if I'm not mistaken, there're 9 different endings and nearly 200 scenes to be unlocked). I like the story, the characters and…

So I couldnt get through the story. It felt generic as all hell, and I found myself board and frustrated. The, "game" opens up with a title sequence calling it a movie. Thats basically what it is, a generic movie I felt like I'd find on youtube for free. The writing is cliche, the characters are not that believable (way too young to be leading experts as they claim they are) and the shared dialogue feels like a grad school student wrote it. The characters are generic, the situations are…

Honestly, the game itself is pretty mid, maybe slightly above average, and that’s mostly thanks to Michelle Mylett. Funny thing is, I had never seen her in anything before, yet she somehow felt familiar. I even checked her filmography and realized I hadn’t watched a single thing she was in. The story was okay, nothing too special, but not bad either. Al Weaver was a nice addition to the cast as well. I haven’t seen any of his work either, but I have to admit, he’s kinda cute lol. Had to look up the album cover and yep, it is quite uncanny how similiar that is. Also, The Complex: Found Footage? I love that game, it's so horribly uncomfortable. Looking forward to seeing the video.

I have never watched a group of scientists make so many objectively terrible decisions with such convincing British accents. The concept is genuinely cool. Real actors, real sets, a real budget, and a branching structure that actually tracks relationships and consequences instead of just cosmetic dialogue options. When it works, it feels like you're steering a genuine sci-fi thriller with your own two hands, which is a rare feeling in this genre. The problem is that the writing occasionally…

The Complex still falls short in serious ways. This had much more potential. There comes a moment during the movie, you expect to make a choice, but all of a sudden, it has already been made by the protagonist. So-called "The Void" scenes felt like low-budget scenery. Every gun scene was unrealistic. "Calculated-risk worth taking" is the dumbest idea ever proposed. Guards passing in front of them and not noticing, smh. Also, I would love the option to use the keyboard instead of clicking. We…

A little pricy for the amount of content, but very well done nonetheless. Quality is high, story is intriguing, actors are believable and choices presented make you not only think twice but actually force you to decide in quick manner. Would really recommend at a small discount for like 8-10 €.

The complex has an intriguing premise, a bio weapon attack on London with two scientists trapped in a laboratory, forced to solve the crisis- but the execution falls short. While the setup sounds compelling, the story never fully capitalizes on it. Choices rarely feel impactful, and the multiple endings are so similar that they lose their significance. Combined with noticeable pacing issues, the experience feels flat overall.
