The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd is a 2007 role-playing video game developed by Nihon Falcom. What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 189 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (2,474 of 2,613 positive).
Players praise the game as a satisfying epilogue that deepens character backstories and lore. [1][2][3] Some find the dungeon-crawler gameplay a welcome change, while others miss the original style. [4][5][6] A few reviewers consider it essential for the series, warning against skipping it. [7][8][9]

Legend of Heroes goes dungeon crawler, and honestly, it's a home run. The great thing about this epilogue edition of Trails In The Sky is that we get to play not only our old favorites but a wide cast of the important NPC's as well. Everyone gets their moment to shine and I am so into it. Didn't think I would, but to play them, try out their abilities, play through their back stories, learn of their poignant back …

Without a doubt the single most satisfying conclusion to a trilogy I've ever seen or played. After the expansion of the world in the first two games, this one is focused almost entirely on expanding the characters themselves, which it does perfectly. There are very few new characters introduced, yet all of them fit perfectly into the world shaped by the previous two games. While the story is excellent, the gameplay …

Great epilogue to the Liberl arc. It goes into a different approach with gameplay as it leans way more into dungeon crawling and combat. Instead of expanding on the world, it focuses more on wrapping things up with existing characters and setting things up later for a few. It tells mini stories that are scattered and unlocked through clearing trials. Kevin is a great protagonist, which is surprising since he has to …

Not nearly as strong as the first 2 but the side stories that make up the time gap between 2 and 3 are definitely worth experiencing. From a world building perspective, this game is very strong. I myself however am not a huge fan of the dungeon crawler gameplay loop in phantasma, but didn't totally dislike it either. Also gives Kevin his chance to shine and flesh out his backstory and character building as well as …

the best game ive ever played. masterful in almost evrey regard. might be a bit too easy compared to its predecessor but the story is near perfect and i myself really liked the new dungon crawling spin it was going for, giving us a much needed break from exploration and hidden quests. the music is fenomenal and the story is an amazing epilogue to just might be one of the best stories in gaming.
Summarised from 34 of the 282 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 12, 2026. How summaries are made
96% of the 189 Steam reviewers we collected recommend The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd. The complaint that keeps coming up: gameplay shift to dungeon crawling may not appeal to all. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Trails in the Sky the 3rd received "generally favorable" reviews according to review aggregator Metacritic. Upon release in Japan, the PlayStation Portable version received a score of 30/40 from video game magazine Famitsu.

It was Dragon Slayer VI originally, a game that Falcom decided to create because they hadn't made a Dragon Quest-ish title yet, but wanted to show that they could do the Enix and Square thing, too. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favorite video game romances takes place in the Legend of Heroes: Trails series. When first described on paper in a quick summary, it's something some people might roll their eyes at, but it's built very well. Something that had to be nailed down early about it was, it really couldn't be *optional*, based on "relationship score", or even happen on its own time. One of the best scenes in this duology centers around a huge character reveal, which puts forward the confession of love all…
