It was everything I wanted it to be when it was released. The movie/movies would be the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I watched them...

But in this game, they're like liquid metal slimes from Dragon Quest -- rare encounters worth tons of XP!

This one escaped my gaze for the longest time, and it's a loving gaze! I adore cards since Mario's Game Gallery and playing Fool with my friends in the icy stairwells of panel houses while our parents drank their lives away at home. Back then, playing cards was an island of calm, and this is what I've been expecting from them…

neutral · AI labelView post →Game was bought by a second studio (Antihero Studios) after the first (Asmodee Digital) decided to sell it. However, after getting a road map and more Antihero inexplicably dropped off and abandoned it. The game was left in an incomplete state and is more the ruins of something that could have been great than any actual product. As someone who has the physical edition and played it religiously I'm sad that Antihero just left us like this. It's an incredible game but I would NOT recommend buying…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gamification ruins what could have been a wonderful card drafting game. The core mechanics are fun, the art is beautiful, the narration, music and writing do a wonderful job of immersing you into the lore of middle earth. Sadly the grind required to unlock cards is perplexing. It feels like the developers were expecting players to put hundreds of hours into a game that has 10~15 hours of content. I think this becomes most obvious when you look at some of the games achievements. "In to the…

positive · AI labelView post →I watched a stream from five years ago, when this game was out, and decided to buy it. The devs have since changed the entire UI and removed information on quests for each mission. So now, you don't know which heroes have completed a quest, or what special things you are expected to do on these quests until after you have played through it. Don't remove working features! If players play on small screens, the blame is on them for not playing at a proper computer! Don't punish PC players!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2500 hours... I have played this game 2,499.6 hours in the past 5 years. It is well worth the price! Great solo, and even better with a co-op partner.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's quite a fun little deck-builder, and I thoroughly enjoy the Rohan Campaign. BUT. The game is unfinished; there's missing content galore - I found myself shaking my head when I came across the Mithril Shirt mentioning it could only be used by Frodo and Bilbo... ... aaaaaaaand Bilbo's not available in the game. So, until the very unlikely event where some other enterprising company snaps this up and completes it - I can't recommend to others. Quite a shame, really.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game - Definitive Edition is a strategic, cooperative digital card game developed and published by Twin Sails Interactive that reimagines the structure of Fantasy Flight Games’ tabletop Living Card Game into a more streamlined but still deeply tactical video game format. Set firmly within the mythos of Middle-earth, the game invites players to assemble fellowships of iconic heroes and venture through narrative-driven quests that emphasize teamwork, careful…

neutral · AI labelView post →I adore The Lord of the Rings LCG, and sadly this is not that. What this is is a pretty shallow, abandoned, and frustrating card game with terrible writing and a severe lack of content. I really wanted to like this more than I did unfortunately. The multiplayer is very dead as well. If you've never played the LCG I highly recommend that instead!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a weak recommendation. What's good about this game is the cosmetic stuff. The story, the voice acting, the card art. Unfortunately the game play is dated are repetitive. Cards are troops that each side lines up and tries to take out. It never makes me feel like my choices aren't predetermined, or makes me want to come back to the same fight with a different deck build to see how things will go differently.
