What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 179 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (4,061 of 4,425 positive).
Players praise Thumper for its intense, visceral rhythm gameplay and unique aesthetic. [1][2][3] Many find the game extremely challenging, with some feeling it becomes a chore or too difficult. [4][5][6] Some players use the game for meditation or to ease anxiety, despite its difficulty. [7][8][9]

It's visually appealing and has a dark, trippy aesthetic. But by halfway through the game it just feels like a chore. The levels get tediously long and don't add many new tricks. It just requires to play with a higher degree of perfection as things get faster and more complicated. I tried twice to make it through this but just bounced both times. Only recommended if you're extremely into rhythm games and want …

Let me start off with a couple of qualifications: 1) I’m old as f**k, and thus, my reactions aren’t as fast as most of you, and 2.) I’ve maybe played 2 other rhythm games in my entire life. With that said, this is a very simple, but deceptively fun, rhythm game. Trippy graphics, bumping soundtrack, tight controls… it’s got the works. There are only 4 or 5 different moves that you have to combo up. The levels are …

9.5/10 This is one of the few rhythm games that really respects the term "rhythm." This is not a Simon Says, Do as I Do, Follow the Instructions, or any sort of whimsical, care free casual game to relax to. This is straight up catharsis. There are only a few moves to know. You can get through the entire game with "thump", "turn", "slam." Each level trains you for what's to come and there's always just a little twist …

First of all, I'll say this game is incredibly difficult but that makes it incredibly rewarding when you finally get passed that section you've been stuck on. If you want the challenge and satisfaction game-loop of souls-like bosses but in a rhythm game, you'll love this. The gameplay is simple and only uses the arrow keys and spacebar on a keyboard (idk about gamepad inputs). There's effectively 6 inputs. Spacebar …

Thumper has this unexplainable aesthetic that perfectly mixes psychedelic/horror and rhythm based gameplay that feels much more violent and visceral than other rhythm games, which is something I didn't know I needed LOL. This game makes you want to actually go back and replay it so you can hear what the soundtrack sounds like when you perfect everything. It's also not afraid to kick your ass especially when you get …

The game simplifies the real stats for display. The actual most balanced build is Bowser on the Tune Thumper.

They were playing Thumper (rhythm drinking game) where losers had to do a shot and lose some clothing. A fun time was had by all. (More in comments). #Sims4 (1/2)
neutral · AI labelView post →Thumper. Like PPKP, a game that duplicates the pleasure of a console genre with just a couple of inputs, the genre in this case being sci-fi racing a la F-Zero
positive · AI labelView post →At under 40 reviews, I'm just going to assume nobody got the memo that the developers of 'rhythm violence' game Thumper released a followup - Thrasher. Same psychedelic chrome nightmare and score-chasing but with very different gameplay. As with Thumper it's playable in VR as well and looks WILD.

People will think "devil daggers" and no, I'm thinking Mandy and Simon Posford/Infected Mushroom's song "I see myself" all at once

positive · AI labelView post →This game is so, SO good. Like, holy shit, if you enjoyed Thumper you HAVE to play this. That said I can only play it in super short bursts because it gets so intense
positive · AI labelView post →Old video but if you want my thoughts on THUMPER and music games generally, check it out. Essentially, despite its abstract visuals and soundtrack, no other game captures the thrilling tension of performing music live quite like it

positive · AI labelView post →Thumper is the most evil game ever made
positive · AI labelView post →This game has an all time peak of 246 players on steam and that's a shame cause it's genuinely one of the best rhythm games I've ever played. I wish this game got the attention it deserves cause I'd love to see these devs make another game. I could see how some players might get bored by the simplicity of the beginning, it does start off very gentle but it gets completely insane in later levels and puts my brain into super human mode it feels good. It's good drugs for people with adhd.

Download it here tinyurl.com/mb6uxr34, turn off the lights and try on an OLED TV, you won't be disappointed. HDR images: shorturl.at/cyVjp
positive · AI labelView post →Thumper is a very, very cool game that I just don't really have the skill to play further, unfortunately. Let's not mince words: this game is incredibly challenging. I think the difficulty ramps nicely, but there is a point where it's just too much to be enjoyable anymore. I think for people who love rhythm games and testing their reflexes, this won't be an issue, but for me, repeatedly dying was harming the flow of the game too much toward the ends of chapter 5 for it to be enjoyable anymore.…

Out there, or, alongside there, are realms of infinite possibilities, worlds where the 80s Dune movie was good, where Napoleon propaganda purported his gigantism, where I didn't say "thanks, you too" last week after the McDonalds worker's "enjoy your meal", meaning I'd never have driven off muttering, "Idiot. Stupid idiot". Thumper is a lens into one of…
