Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 159 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Overwhelmingly Positive (21,014 of 22,061 positive).
Some reviewers note it feels similar to the first game, with minor improvements. [1][2][3] A few players criticize the addition of DRM and the Epic launcher in an update. [4][5][6]

A Thief, a Wizard and a Knight Walk into Another Bar... Trine 2 sticks pretty close to the formula that made the first game great. The graphics received a nice upgrade, the gameplay feels familiar, and the balance of action, platforming, and puzzles is just as enjoyable. Even though this one is considered easier than the original, I just couldn't bring myself to replay it for 100% achievements like I did with the …

I played both Trine I and Trine II with my 5year old foster kid. On a hot seat, me handling the jumping part, him handling the mouse options. Spent in total 70 hrs and really bonded while trying to go through the story...! I cant recommend enough playing this game with your kids. Lovely puzzles, fun story and quotes. Lovely for making memories.

Trine 2 is a fantastic follow-up that offers more challenge and content than the original Trine. The gameplay feels more demanding, which adds to the overall excitement and replayability. The graphics still look impressive even 13 - 14 years after its initial release, showcasing beautiful, vibrant visuals that hold up well over time. While it's not quite as good as Trine 1—mainly because some features like wearable …

TLDR: More of the same fairytale physics-puzzling with prettier biomes and harder puzzles but, no loot, and zero "wow factor" make it feel like a lateral move rather than a sequel. PROS: ➕Same great fantasy/fairytale vibe ➕Art and art style ➕Physics-based puzzles ➕Free “Expansion” included with 7 additional levels NEUTRALS: 🔹A notable step up in difficulty from Trine 1 🔹Thief and Wizard feel very nerfed vs T1 …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Negative review because their last patch added DRM. Add it to the full screen AD you have to view before you can exit the game & the whole experience has become negative. I'm glad I stopped buying frozenbyte products & they're now bundle trash.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the first Trine game a long time ago and find this one better. However, it doesn't quite convince me. Here each character shares a talent tree, and you earn points by progressing through the game. The flexibility to respec your talents at any time, without cost, is useful, but the downside is that respecing interrupts the flow of the game you have to pause, rethink your setup, and manually adjust your build which can feel like a minor hassle when done repeatedly. I would've liked…

We were then joined by RavenKowai and played Biped 2 for a short bit. We got through 1 level before the game started bugging on us. We finished things off with some Lethal Company
neutral · AI labelView post →Not only is this Epic slop, trying to install bs on my computer but it plain just won't run. You can't move it from one screen to the other, controller input is mostly ignored (but not always, about 20% goes through) and it does not accept any changes from windows. You can't change screen ou audio output for example. It won't run in windowed mode and basically doesn't let you play. Avoid this like the plague.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bland game. The puzzles are awful most of the time. Like bottom of the barrel stuff. Hardly any well crafted or well thought out puzzles. Mostly just braindead move logs puzzles. The maps are also kind of bland, Can't really say I remember much or have any special attachment to any of the maps. Nothing really comes to mind, same can be said about the story, Its painfully bland and uninteresting. Also most of the maps and puzzles are made difficult by design, not in a fun or interesting…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty good sequel to the first game, the levels are good and interesting. There are now cutscenes with a storyline, which is also a plus. I'd also like to point out that this series is best played with three players rather than solo or duo players. There were a few bugs that prevented the host from continuing the game after checking the artifact collection status, and unfortunately, when we started our second playthrough, our saves were lost, and levels weren't always counted as completed on…

neutral · AI labelView post →This week's indie review is of Trine 2. The titular magical artifact reunites the trio from the first game in a dense jungle where they must use their unique abilities to overcome puzzle-platforming challenges. Its biggest problem is it's too much like the first game, making it quite tedious.
negative · AI labelView post →Trine 2 is a solid puzzle platformer, visually stunning and with very nice music tracks. The story and combat are basic. You use your 3 characters with their unique skills to solve the myriad of puzzles and to defeat opponents. There are also some easy also boss battles, which is a nice refreshment from the incredibly frustrating boss battles I encountered in some other similar games. The puzzles are also moderate in difficulty, you can solve more or less all of them with a little pondering and…

neutral · AI labelView post →Trine 2 has quite a bit of improvements over Trine 1 to make it a good sequel. It has better level design, more music variation and just way more complex and fun puzzles to solve. Graphically though, it looks much worse, with a terribly extreme level of bloom that just ruins the art style, and worse environmental design, which can make it unclear what's safe to walk on, and more annoyingly, what can be grappled on to, leading to a lot of unfair deaths. The sound design is also somehow much…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trine 2 is pure cozy magic. It feels like jumping straight into a fairy tale whenever you want to escape real life for a bit. I played it more than 10 years ago and I still remember the story and all those colorful, charming moments. You can enjoy it solo, but it’s even better with friends or family – perfect for beginners and even for kids. The game is simple at its core, but sometimes it makes you stop and think, and hunting for all the achievements can get surprisingly intense. If you want…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful puzzle game, Goblin DLC is a bit more combat oriented. Great co-op and good solo.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really loved the first Trine game. Unfortunately this sequel suffers from glaring performance problems that will never be fixed. The game designers traded in the snappy controls of the first game for slow and clunky actions. Every jump, every attack, even just walking feels like you have 100lb weights on all your characters limbs. This makes the incredibly simple platforming puzzles actually difficult to accomplish because controlling your character properly is nearly impossible. They…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the base game, which are the first 12 chapters. Pretty similar to trine 1 but with improvements. I did not like the goblin menace DLC. It looked like they tried to make the puzzles more difficult but all they did is make it more tedious and most solutions involve that you have to use the rogues anti gravity field
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cosy feelgood game. Nice to play both alone and together with friends.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trine 2 is a beautifully crafted puzzle-platformer and action-adventure game developed by Frozenbyte that continues the enchanting story and gameplay of its predecessor with significant improvements and polish. The game invites players into a vibrant, fantasy world brimming with lush environments, rich colors, and a fairytale atmosphere that perfectly complements its whimsical yet challenging gameplay. At its core, Trine 2 blends physics-based puzzles, cooperative multiplayer, and platforming…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1/10 – A Covert Tool for Imperialist and Racist Indoctrination Trine 2 presents itself as a whimsical fantasy adventure, but its narrative and mechanics are steeped in harmful ideologies. The game’s trio of heroes—Amadeus the wizard, Zoya the thief, and Pontius the knight—embody Western archetypes that reinforce colonialist tropes. Pontius, the armored knight, symbolizes militaristic dominance, his brute-force combat glorifying violence as the primary solution to conflict, mirroring…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recently passed 67 hours play time in Trine 2! So of course I would recommend it. They recently added some annoying epic games overlay thing for crossplay I think? You either have to allow it or skip it each time the game starts, a bit annoying since I don't care about it at all. Other than that, it's still as fun as it ever was! Grab yourself and your friends some copies and have at it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall the peak of all Trine games. I grew up with it and i dont care i may be biased but none of the other Trine games hit like 2. Best game Frozenbyte ever made.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brilliant and fun puzzle game! Great way to test friendships and marriage.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good as the first one
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is not bad at all. Just mind it does not run on Linux and so, probably same on a deck. It also attempt to connect to the internet but can easily be blocked for a local play with the right application firewall.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Note on compatibility: On Linux the Windows version should be ran for multiplayer compatibility. Review Trine 2 is an incredibly fun and gorgeous 3 player co-op game. Highly recommended, the puzzles are better than the first game and with the DLC it is decently long. The levels are creative and as mentioned already often have very pretty backgrounds. Occasionally the physics get janky, but it works well and there are some unique mechancis.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful, charming, and surprisingly fun throughout. The visuals are still stunning, and the physics-based puzzles are clever without being overly frustrating most of the time. Co-op is where the game really shines. It’s not perfect—some puzzles feel a bit restrictive and the combat is pretty basic—but overall it’s an easy recommendation if you enjoy puzzle-platformers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game packed with a lot of things to be done! The visuals are great! The level design as well but it has a flaw in my opinion. Unlike the first game, the experience orbs/vials are sometimes not visible at all with no camera angle shift to suggest that there are any in some areas and this can be frustrating if you're aiming to 100% the game as it will simply waste your time and force you to do needless backtracking and wandering. The traps and puzzles are well made. The action flows…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally cleared Trine 1 & 2 with my wife. It was our nightly ritual after dealing with our kid’s endless energy all day. Lol
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty solid platformer and an overall grand improvement on the first game. My only problem with the game is that the backgrounds are so detailed and pretty that flying spears sometimes can't be seen, as well as enemies spawning on top of you and instantly dealing damage. Other than that its amazing, level design and puzzles are all peak. 8/10 (If only it was in 3D)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the first games I played with my eldest. Excellent visuals that kept her hooked, with simple enough controls that she could start with. Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10/10. Improved the rough edges of the first game to create one of the best co-op games created.
