Many players praise the game's visuals, music, and co-op puzzles, calling it a beautiful and fun experience. [1][2][3] Some reviewers find it the best in the series, while others consider it a step down from previous entries. [4][5][6] Several players note bugs, especially in co-op, and criticize the story and forced puzzle solutions. [7][8][9]

Huge downgrade from the previous games. The knight is fine but the other two characters feel horrible to play. The puzzles are worse, the game has some bugs that literally make it unplayable. Just stick to 1,2, and 4.

I still can't believe there's another one after this one?! I mean honestly I can't believe there was one after 4. This is a crazy example of an indie franchise sustaining itself because it found a niche that worked for them and I am flabbergasted they just keep the ball rolling. Anyway, that's not really about this game, is it? *ahem* This game really said, you want deep as balls mechanics where skill trees can work …

Beautiful, polished, and fun—especially in co-op. Puzzles are creative, gameplay feels smoother, but the story and combat are still basic. Comparison of all trines: Trine 1: simple, charming start but basic mechanics Trine 2: big visual upgrade, best balance of puzzles & co-op Trine 3: tried 3D, but short and weakest entry Trine 4: return to form, polished and safe Trine 5: most refined, biggest. My wife and I played Trine 5 together, and we loved every minute of it. ❤️ The game looks absolutely gorgeous — the lighting, the music, and the world design are all magical — but what really stood out to us were the co-op puzzles. Some of them were surprisingly tough, and a few had us scratching our heads for a while, but finally solving them together was incredibly satisfying. Each character feels useful and fun …

Trine 5 – A Truly Magical Experience! I absolutely loved playing Trine! The game completely won me over with its incredible story – it's fascinating, immersive, and keeps you hooked from start to finish. The plot feels like a fairy tale, but with depth and charm that make it genuinely engaging. And the visuals? Just breathtaking. Every frame looks like a living painting – the colours, the lighting, the detailed …

We preferred to skip the third one. (sorry) We played the fourth with my wife and loved it again. We played this with my little son and loved every moment of it. Thank you for this many unforgettable and fun experiences, Frozenbyte!

Unsure to even finish this game at this point. Trine 5 is just terrible to play, story is not enjoyable, I feel like all three Heroes are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is probably the worst one to play multiplayer. First off, your skill points are based off the HOST so whatever your OWN SAVE FILE, you'd have to respec your skill points again. This has so many bugs that I feel the developers just brushed off and forgot about like: - Characters glitching underneath the floor having to reset the level again - Characters not being accessible to either players if you die and reset a battle again (Couldn't even finish the last boss because of what's…

neutral · AI labelView post →A step down from Trine 4 (and certainly a step down from Trine 4's excellent DLC). The attempts to "lock out" certain physics solutions leads to frustrating and inconsistent gameplay. Trine has slowly transitioned from an "if you can build it, it will work" type of game to a "we deliberately stopped this from working to force you to play how we want you to play" game. Not an inherently bad design choice, but the execution is messy. For example, there may be a pole sticking out that your boxes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While better than the previous couple of games, the game still has too much hand holding, even if the 'puzzle assist time' is set to never. If it's set to never that means I want NO hints, not just 'not often'. While I imagine this one still has Epic Gaming 'Services' attached to it like the previous 4 recently had shoehorned into them, unlike the previous 4, it doesn't actually seem to cause any odd artifacts... no Epic Games Launcher attempt to launch, no connection errors... nothing. The…

It's a fun puzzle game series to play with friends (...just make sure to skip Trine 3 🥲) #art #fanart #digitalart

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Remember while playing during COOP : A bug caused by a feature but thats unsolvable: If you are 2 players or 3 players playing a mission and one of you drops out, the level loaded is for 3 players so you will reach unsolvable puzzle (for example puzzle was meant for 3 and now you are 2 left, so restart the level / checkpoint accordingly to see it solved) Anyways , overall the game is good, looks better than Trine 4, runs well and fully voiced campaign
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Adventure completed because we loved the previous Trine games. However, we could have done without the political agenda aka forced diversity. Will check twice before buying a potential Trine 6.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My wife said if this review gets 50 likes and 5 awards, she will buy a case of beer, guys help me out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is definitely the best Trine game, but 2 is still my favorite Alternative: I can't believe they added lesbians to Trine
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just to be clear, I have not played other Trine games prior to this one. The game has a nice art direction and good music. The puzzles are engaging and there is a maturity to them as you progress through the game. The game is not very long but it transpires a good experience overall. I was particularly not a fan of characters and the dialogue written for the game. The story is not engaging at all and at some points, it is quite disengaging. I'd suggest the game to someone who has…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice co-op game. Cool new abilities for the characters. It goes into more of a puzzle direction though. Still a lot of platforming and fighting, but there are often section where you have to figure out a very specific solution to progress. Of course, in typical Trine fashion, you can often cheese your way through. I love the janky physics :) I personally liked the first entries more. There, you could continue to play with fewer of the characters, should someone die (we always played…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite the game being out for 2 years at this point, multiplayer is still an unpleasant experience. If you're not the host, every time you join the game at your last saved point, you don't get to keep your skill allocations, or even your player color. It defaults to whatever the host has allocated under THEIR character. Each session you play, you have to reallocate skill points. Also if you STARTED a multiplayer game, you cannot get achievements if you try to finish solo because it treats your…

neutral · AI labelView post →Epic graphics, nice story. Probably the best and most user friendly Trine so far. I love the co-op, fun and addictive.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wonderful game. You really get your money's worth. The longest trine game by far, and the puzzles are very challenging and the level design is fun and diverse.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably the best game in the series. It combines the strongest ideas from the previous entries and improves on them. The only downside is that some stages drag a bit longer than they should.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the previous Trine games, and this one delivers a basic Trine experience, but the writing and overall feel of the adventure are lacking. The scenery is still enjoyable, though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game series started good but got worse over time. this is by far the worst of this and other games. i dont know how they managed to ♥♥♥♥ it up this bad. loves the first 2, 3 was ok 4 was bad this is maximum trash. dont wast your time on this even if its free. not worth. not at all. just finished it and will never touch it again. not going to buy the 6. or any other game from this developer again.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a stunning, well-thought-out, long game, with lots of innovations and lots of aids for solving the puzzles. I really liked it, it took me a while to finish it. The levels are very long, but you can use the map to go to any previous point in time - and look for surprises and objects. I really like this series, but the story here is not the strong point... There are lots of changing environments and spectacular landscapes, and throughout the game you get more options that advance your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't know what to expect from Trine 5 - as I played 1,2,3,4 before and I already loved them, but 3 was a bit short and could use more work. Trine 5 is all of these amplified, perfected and much much more. It has amazing, hard puzzles, a bit of fighting, great story and stunning visuals. It has outdone itself and I can proudly say it's the best Trine - amazing work. I'm literally in shock how good it is. Gameplay 8/10 Visuals 9/10 Puzzles 10/10 Story 6/10 (this time I actually follow…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty solid game, but constant black screens after cut scenes forcing a restart makes multiplayer lame.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who as been following Trine from the outset, I can confidently say number 5 is the best entry. Puzzles are fun and often the result can end up with a fun "was I supposed to do it that way?" Levels feel the most fleshed out here, new abilities make for exciting changes and it can be fun to go back to earlier levels and try things a little different once you get them. I am excited to see what 6 brings to the table when it comes later this year.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The weakest game in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous four. I bought the fifth game when it came out, but I haven't been able to finish it for three years. At the time of writing this review, I was trying to get past level 12, but I gave up again. The graphics are outdated, the puzzles are illogical, despite the characters' numerous abilities, there's no gameplay progression, and there are optimization issues. My computer exceeds the recommended requirements by several times, but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's super fun. there is still some jankiness around connectivity on coop but level design and puzzle quality is really wonderful
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trine 5 - A Clockwork Conspiracy is a superb entry in the franchise, it has become my 2nd favourite game in the series after Trine 2. The level design is phenomenal as usual, it has everything you expect from a Trine game, nice graphics (for a 2.5D side scrolling platformer of course), great music, clever puzzles and cute characters. The levels are quite lengthy, and I think Trine 5 has the most levels out of all 5 games (20 to be precise) so I can't complain in that regard either (looking at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm often surprised that when I mention these games to friends or work colleagues or whoever, they haven't always heard of them. Take it from me, they are truly fantastic games, and I've loved them all ever since the first one. I'm a sucker for pretty games, and a big fan of platformers too, so this fits the bill perfectly. The imagination, the puzzles and the game design in general are just top drawer. There's a reason there's 5 of them and I'd imagine they won't stop there. I read one review…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I sincerely apologize for what I said about Trine 3. That game feels so much better now.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →21) Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy Another banger entry in one of the best co-op game series of all time. A good mix of complex puzzles and that lovable physics-based jank, now with a more involved story than ever before. Loved seeing the nods to Nine Parchments (the studio's other game) as well!
positive · AI labelView post →Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is an awesome entry into the 2.5D co-op puzzle game and it runs very well on the Steam Deck, even with a weird framerate issue. A copy was provided by THQ Nordic for review. steamdeckhq.com/game-reviews...
positive · AI labelView post →Excelent co-op game. Very very fun. Probably the best in the series yet.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great couch coop trivia game to play with your partner or friend. Only issue is that, instead of focusing on the puzzle side of things Trine keeps and keeps pushing fights into this game when it is not needed at all. No idea why they keep doing this, but take those out and the game is good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trine be like: women can't double jump, sorry.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice game. Beautiful graphics and atmosphere. If you like relaxing puzzle games and like the look and feel of this game i definitely recommend it. I only played solo and can't say anything of the multiplayer part. I would rate it an 8.5
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →incredibly boring and easy not even worth the 5 seconds to download
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My wife and I played Trine 2 and 4 and loved them both but man did this one feel unsatisfying. Even if it clearly has all the same love and care as the others, just didn't jive with us.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the greatest multiplayer experiences of all time. My nephews and I bonded over playing this together, and we cannot be more thankful to everyone involved in the making of this masterpiece. We only just now finished the game after slowly playing it over several years at holiday gatherings. We were sad it was over, but then our spirits were lifted by learning of Trine 6 coming in September 2026! Please never stop making these games. Thanks again!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I Just recently discovered the Trine Franchise, played 1, 2 , 3 and 4, all super fun games. so i decided to get this one too, and it`s a lot of fun, even better if you have friends to play with, but also fun on your own.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a cocktwerk сuntspeeracy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is slightly lesser than Trine 4, though the puzzles are not bad. Mostly I can't recommend because it is far worse to run than Trine 4. Every death and every level end in multiplayer results in the game freezing or crashing to desktop. For all parties. Level progression saves, but character progression does not. Until this is fixed, I can't recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have a very modern gaming laptop running up to date drivers, and this game crashes constantly during multiplayer. Particularly when the whole group dies when someone else is the host, or sometimes just trying to join the multiplayer game. It's interminable and the game is just not worth the effort of fighting these constant crashes. Shame, it could've been fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somehow, after finally nailing it in Trine 4, Frozenbyte managed to make the sequel worse in every ascpect: the controls are clunky, the puzzles are exhaustingly boring, players are disconnected randomly when playing online. I have a feeling I'm playing Trine 2 again, and I'm not happy about it. The game looks exactly the same as the previous one but for some reason the system requirements are much higher. Even so FPS drops below 30 FPS randomly on a laptop that could handle all the previous…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lovely Trine game (as always). Also nicely paced (30-45 Min sessions). Perfect for those of us who have a busy schedule and just want a short burst of puzzle fun in the evening to wind down. Full recommendation. Thank you Frozen Byte :-)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5th entry in this now established fantasy art galery filled with physics based puzzles and occasionnal okayish combat and it stays true to the known formula, perhaps a little too much now. Every scenery, every landscape is a stunning visual and audio treat as ever. A charming love letter to the simple and feel good medieval fantasy in an era where every other game must be dark and complex. Seriously, if anything Frozenbyte nail the art of their games. But what about the game itself ? It's a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great experience with xbox controller Recommend for co-op
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best in the series! I liked it a lot!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible puzzle design, inconsistent physics, lots of bugs and overall feels like a downgrade from the previous games. You are learning the same things that you could do in the previous games but they were executed much better there. Lots of new abilities but they are kind of useless, have no impact or they are to be used everywhere and are unbalanced. The story and the bosses are very lacking. There is so much possibility in these characters and worlds that this entry feels insanely lacking…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly this feels like one of the less inspired entries in the series so far. All the puzzles feel redone from previous entries and I feel there’s a lack of new interesting mechanics or enemies to a point where it just feels very plain after having already gone through the previous games. If you however have not played any of the previous Trine games this is definitely a visual improvement over the earlier games and story wise a bit middle of the road for the series, especially compared to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trine 5 i believe is the BEST trine so far as of 2025 . like WOWZA!! i freaking love the new puzzles and new powers for sure!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute platformer, a bit harder than Trine 4 and with many additional abilities. Reasonably good story, wide localizations. Recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very entertaining. Best Trine so far I think. The harder puzzle variants are great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Trine 5, just as Trine 4 before, is the best Trine game so far. Most mechanics from 4 were kept and many more were added. This one features more cinematics than previous entries which is imo a big plus. Just like all the previous games this one is also an amazing coop game. Steam Deck Trine 5 works great on the deck, especially when docked. You will encounter some frame drops every now and then, but they are quite rare.
