Players find Wild Woods a charming and fun couch co-op game, especially for families and couples. [1][2][3][4] Many note it is early access with limited content, lacking meta progression and variety. [1][5][6][7] Some reviewers find the game too chaotic or stressful, especially with two players. [8][9]

Keep this on your wishlist but don't buy it just yet. There's some really good ideas in here but the general loop is just a little too painful and hectic to be fully enjoyable. But that bodes well for the near future. This game just needs polish and content and it'll be a fantastic little co-op game. My biggest gripe, that hopefully gets patched out, is just how much wood you burn to stay alive. It's absurd and adds …

I will leave a positive review, because I think the game has great bones and deserve to have a chance to grow. However, I did not enjoy the current version and do not plan to play the game any further. It lacks content and meta progression. I will wait for an update, or for the release of the game before trying again. On the positive: - The gameplay is Solid and fun. - The theme around following and protecting a …

what a wonderfully chaotic coop game!! i played with my boyfriend and we had so many funny moments together that i completely forgot there are only 3 levels available right now. considering its still in early access, theres already a lot of creativity here and i really loved how different the gameplay feels from other coop games ive played. you play as these adorable little cats traveling through the forest while …

Great couch co-op game! I'd recommend at least 3 players for a more balanced and chaotic fun experience, but also since the game is QUITE hard. So, for the players: this is a very hard game, where cooperation is key, mistakes will be made, but when you defeat a boss you feel it very rewarding! Right now it only has a few bosses, but it will take a lot of practice, attention, curiosity, creativity, resilience and …

So much potential to be a Number 1 Family game. Thank you for bring in such a great idea, We can't wait to play more different stages and levels. Great job again.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lots of fun to play with friends and family together. I was extremely disappointed that this game did not have any meta progression. That seems like a basic requirement for any rogue-lite as motivation to play through the game more than once or twice. Would also like a slower wood burning time. I forgot if there was an upgrade to slow burn time at the shop, but it definitely feels like a log wood collected is more like a shred of paper. I'd wait for a patch to introduce meta progression as the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wild Woods looks like a charming and cozy game at first glance, but once you actually start playing, it quickly becomes clear that it’s mostly just a pretty wrapper around a very shallow and uninteresting experience. What’s Good: Pleasant visual style, and that’s pretty much it. What’s Not So Good: A lot of bugs. Out of 5 runs, 2 were completely broken, making it impossible to progress to the next location. Repetitive and quickly boring gameplay loop. No real replayability. No overall…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought this was like a quick mission/run where you protect and deliver the wagon a few levels, then fight a boss, go to town to do some upgrades, but its not. It's just one long run with zero permanent progression. There is no feeling of accomplishment cause you dont really level up anything, feels like a waste of time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pls check out Wild Woods, it's 5$ right now. It is "early access" but has been in development for some time. this game has a bit of Crystal Chronicles in its DNA & has a really strong core for both online & couch co-op store.steampowered.com/app/1975580/...

neutral · AI labelView post →Fun concept, but lacks replay ability at the moment. The game gets harder as you go along and your power level DOES NOT scale at the same rate. There needs to be WAY more upgrades to make combat more fun, and gathering resources feels like manic maintenance more than rewarding gameplay loop. Hopefully they drastically change the upgrade system in the near future because it is lack luster.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Me and my girlfriend have been playing this game and its been great so far. The level of difficulty is good, we've beaten the first two bosses on our second run and are still going, those who are saying its hard are bad at games lol. The game has a nice art style and graphics and some interesting unique mechanics. You can definitely tell this is in early access but overall it's a great game and I cant wait for more updates.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/10 but I think there's great potential! Played this couch co-op with my wife and the vibes of the game don't really match how constantly chaotic and stressful the game is. Like beat-em-up meets Overcooked! I think specifically the speed that Rosie moved at was too high considering how many resources are expected to be harvested by only 2 players. This is especially emphasized during the night portions of the game when you also need to juggle enemies and keeping the fire lit. This feels…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very boring. It's hard but there's basically no variation in the opening minutes. The enemies, all of them, have more abilities than you do.

neutral · AI labelView post →Final boss of the 3rd map has a party wide instakill cold move that has no clear way to counter or stop (despite us having 2 warm upgrades). You have about 1 second to react before you are all dead, and only then does it show that there is 0/9 wood available in the center teapot area, with no way to light it before you die. Its still not clear to me what you are supposed to do, we revived because we had a 1 revive as a party of 4, but then we put some wood in it and couldnt light the teapot…

neutral · AI labelView post →This is one of those mixed reviews thing, momentarily leaning on negative. The game is perfectly fine for what it means to do, and that is to be baby's first friendslop roguelike. If I was a kid, I'm sure I would've loved to play this game with my friends. But I'm far from those tender years, and the game doesn't really feel... rewarding to play. There's this je ne sais quoi that makes everything unreactive, unresponsive, plain, boring. By the time we reached the third level, I couldn't…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this with my gf, we liked it, some bits are a little frustrating. The gameplay is very challenging even starting out on easy. It would be nice to have some in-game explanation of what the totems along the road do when activated. Rosie is way too damn fast and its frustrating when she changes her pace while you're attempting to toss items into the cart. Also frustrating that you cannot throw items into their baskets from the top of the road as well, although I understand it makes more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game, but the combat systems are atrocious. The art style makes me think this is supposed to be a chill, fun time. It's one of the most frustrating games I have played in years. Why? Your character controls like GARBAGE. Enemies run at you mindlessly, but you cannot strafe, walk backwards, or attack in any direction but where you are looking. Meaning to ATTACK is to STAND AND FIGHT. No exceptions. The Cart upgrade system makes me want to rip my hair out. Ah yes, let's tie…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's cute and fun, but suffers from difficulty spikes and the lack of combat upgrades. The real problem with a game like this is that it's a great gameplay loop, but the combat isn't as fun as it needs to be to keep you from realizing how tedious it is. Looking forward to updates in the future, but can't really recommend it right now.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dear developers, the game is amazing! Played with my girlfriend we both enjoyed the game and will continue to enjoy it :) Thanks for the amazing work and supporting local coop. P.S. Please add some kind of small tutorial when the Winter Biome starts. It's hard to know that you can put the torch down to melt the resources. We even went on youtube to see if we are doing something wrong and in the trailer for the new biome we saw that cats were able to put down the torches.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An awesome, funny game to play with friends. Please add more levels.

neutral · AI labelView post →Terrific little rogue-lite. I play it with my kids for a super fun couch co-op. The devs have great communication and an interesting roadmap coming up. Two thumbs up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't buy this. Or test it out for yourself and request a refund (under 2 hours of playtime). The trailer looks beautiful but the actual game is horrible. I was extremely disappointed. This is a money grab for people who are suckers for cats and cute action games. This is like a phone game that is not thought out at all, so boring and so tedious. Beware of this type of game on the marketplace.

neutral · AI labelView post →Doesn't provide more a couple hours of enjoyability currently. The Meta Progression update was definitely a change for the better but that solved one a few core problems, the main of which is the lack of depth. Although quite accessible you've experienced pretty much all the gameplay this game has to offer after 30 minutes, there's no campaign, no pvp, the netcode is terrible, and most of all shockingly little depth to the combat and overall gameplay. Even just another move for each role or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really cute and fun game. The art direction is phenomenal and the animations are pretty well done. There are a few QOL things that are making rating this game tough. The bosses are are fine with unique mechanics every 25% you chunk off of them that keep it a bit interesting. I understand this update is pretty fresh, but the Snowsickle Peaks is absolutely unbearable with the torch mechanic. I find myself wanting to play more of the game and then get hesitant knowing that i'm going to have to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfect couch co-op hack-and-slash rouge-like adventure game. The animations are well done and very cute, and the difficult ramps up from Easy to Normal pretty sharply. Enjoyed playing this as a party game at home. There isn't really a story as such, so it is infinite play. Still, fun to go through and pick up power-ups and learn how different upgrades work and help with the mission. Really fun way to spend an afternoon with friends, but with the lack of a story/plot, I don't think I would…

When you reach the end of a node, you must choose one of two paths. Each one has a node type and difficulty modifier (you can reset all…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought that the game had an interesting upgrade system, but that's it. Combat is far too simple for the game and I think that should be a highlighted part of the early access, because it has good bones for structure. If given more time and development I can see this being quite fun, for now though I have to pass. I wish the best with the developing and hope to see this get more fun!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played with friends and we didn't enjoy this at all. Too many hindering mechanics and control issues for this to be fun. Gameplay is basic: collect wood and herbs to put in the cart. Herbs recharge abilities and wood gives you light so you can see and stay warm. If the cart reaches its destination you win, and it's a roguelike so there's multiple stages to travel with your cart to. The issues: Can only hit in the direction of where you're facing and you can only do that with WASD or holding…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do really love Wild woods. Especially playing it couch-coop with my partner. We have dove into the 3rd biome once already yesterday and had a blast! I'ts pretty cool with the new freezing mechanics and adds more focus on us having different roles. I was the one carrying torches to unfreeze trees and other resources, while she collected them and battled the enemies. It's a loveley game so far and I really do recommend it. For me there are some (obvious) things missing, though I think since…

neutral · AI labelView post →Wild Woods has a great mix of mechanics. It's a good "entry level" local co-op game. It's core loop kept us hooked. Once we beat it we set it down for awhile and waiting for updates. We were able to beat the game a few times within our initial 14 hours a year ago. I can't say if they've added enough to make it worth the full 15$ yet, but at the rate the updates are coming if not now...at 1.0 launch this game should be well worth a full asking price. It might be already, need to play with the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was so invested in my first playthrough, pure awe of discovery...! But then, I reached the boss in the fourth stage, then died because of something that was not informed by the game - all of a sudden there was freezing wind that simply killed me very quickly before I could even understand what was happening. Turns out I had to run behind some boulder, for shelter... The game started over, all the way back to the beginning of the FIRST stage. Every single choice, upgrade, massive effort to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's great. It's amazing. Honestly, the game right now is a little bit barebones, and there's only like 3 biomes - but the game itself is very charming. It's like a co-op zelda mixed with some caravan light management in style of Unrailed. Co-op wise is very good, the bosses are charming and actually quite skillful, and if the game is on offer, it's a no-brainer purchase. You will have a good evening or two with this. The game only lacks depth and a little bit more to it - hopefully the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There really didn't feel like there was much depth to the game. Fairly simple fighting mechanics, timed busy work with resource gathering and that was about it. It really feels like this game is intended to be played with a group and I only solo played it... so take this review with a grain of salt. But I personally wasn't impressed. Donnie, the donkey brained loser, really likes this game though. So maybe try it out if you have a 3rd grade reading level and picture books really tucker you out.

neutral · AI labelView post →Simply put, WAIT. The gameplay itself is really fun and hectic for the first hour or two but there's so little content, if it were cheaper in early access that'd be one thing, but this game is simply not worth $15 right now. I look forward to its progression but as it is now I can't recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun cozy game. Perfect for playing co-op with beginner gamers (I played with my 5 year old). I asked her what she thinks of the game: "It's good! I like the cat with the colourful pattern on it's head"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is supposed to be a cuter version of unrailed I guess, - yet, it's still shallow, too short, lacks content and something to make it replay-able. I wouldn't recommend picking it up yet. (played more on other family accounts in coop) Still hoping it will be updated, as the developer wasn't really putting up much over the year I own it.
